Thegroupalsoenvisionedthedesireto haveconnectivitybetweenparkswith walkingtrailstoandfromeachgreen spaceaswell.Howecouldcapturea healthylifestyleapproachtofuture growththatrecognizesopportunities foralarge-scalefarmersmarketinsteadofdabblingintoareasofsuch. Theneedtodevelopwhatisnow knowsas“JonesPark”wasofhigh
discussionwhichwouldrelocateallof thesportsactivitiesaswellasthe mayor’sdesireforanamphitheaterat thatlocation.Bydevelopingthe46acrepark,itwouldallowforabetter useofthecity’sfiveacresalongside Highway75whichnowarehomesto baseballfields.Althoughtheacreageis inafloodplain,itcouldbeusedin conjunctionasanaddedincentivefor parkingforretailersalongSouthCollinsFreeway.
WalkerwouldliketoseeaJunior ChamberofCommerceestablishedat thelocalhighschoolandbeginthe processofbringinginthefutureentrepreneursoftomorrowtogetajump startontheimportanceofshopping localandsupportinglocalbusiness.
WalkeralsosuggestedaneedtorelocateCityHallandtheHoweFireDepartmentawayfromthecommercial downtowndistricttoallowformore smallbusinessoperationsforthebenefitofsalestaxrevenue.
WhiletheStrategicPlanisbeingdevelopedbytheHCFDC,planningfor futuregrowthisnotfocusedprimarily onsalestax,butalsoqualityoflife itemswhichassociateswiththings outsideoftheeconomicdevelopment boardsuchaszoningandlotsizes.
Walkerstatedthatwhilemosteveryoneintheroomdesiredalargelotfor futuregrowth,placingafootinthe groundandwaitingondevelopersto conformtothatparticularproductwill stagnatethecityby10-30yearswhich eventuallyleadstomoreencroachmentfromothercities.Itwasdiscussedtoreapproachthelotsizes whichstrategizeanapproachfornew developments. Johnniemethersweetheart,ArlieJuniorVineyardatElmontBaptistChurch andmarriedhimonJanuary5th,1951 atElmontBaptistchurch.Theycelebrated72yearsofmarriagein2023 beforehispassing.

Despitenotbeingofficial,thenetworksprojectedJoeBidenasthenext PresidentoftheUnitedStates. But PresidentTrump’sattorneysclaim theyhaveidentifiedatleast450,000 ballotsinthekeystatesthatmiraculouslyonlyhaveamarkforBiden WhilestateslikePennsylvaniaand Georgiatalliedballotsfordaystrying tofigureouttheresultsofperhapsthe mostimportantelectioninthehistory ofthecountry,GraysonCountysorted throughtheircountyelectiontotals veryquickly. InGraysonCounty, PresidentDonaldTrumpreceived 43,776votes(76percent),ofwhich79 percentwerecastinearlyvoting. FormerVicePresidentJoeBidenreceived 14,233votesinGraysonCounty(25 percent)ofwhich72percentwerecast inearlyvoting. Wherethevotewas closewasinabsenteemail-invoting wherePresidentTrumpwonbyaslim margin,2,477to2,250. LibertarianJo Jorgensenreceived625totalvotesin GraysonCounty.
Nomatterwhichsidecitizensvoted for,onecan’tknocktheefficiencyof GraysonCountyelectionofficials. But othercountiesandstatesacrossthe U.S.cannotcommandthesameapplause. Thebigloseronelectionnight wasthemainstreammediaespecially FoxNewsChannelwhocalledArizonaandVirginiaveryearlyinthevote count. Also,eightminutesafterthe pollsclosedonthewestcoast,Fox NewscalledawinforBideninCalifornia,OregonandWashington. An alltoocommonoccurrenceinmedia thesedays,aracetobefirsthassupersededtheneedtobecorrect. After daysofconsumption,Americansfeel asifthemainstreammediawasoutto createanarrativetobolsterBidenas theleadingcandidate.
Asthenumberswerecominginon Tuesdaynight,nothinghadchangedin thestatesobtainedbyDemocratsand Republicansfrom2016until Fox News calledArizonaforBidenrather quicklywhichhadconservativesand PresidentTrumpupset. Evenso,all indicationsofareturntotheWhite HouseforTrumpwasimminentwith bigleadskeybattlegroundstates. But
thingsshiftedandeyebrowswere raisedasthenightwenton. Despite Trumpleadingheavilyinstatessuch asNorthCarolina,Virginia,Wisconsin,Michigan,andPennsylvania,the mainstreammediarefusedtocallany ofthemmeanwhilecallingallwest coaststatesforCaliforniaimmediately atthetimeofthecloseofpolls.
Allvote-countingwasrunning smoothlyonmostallofthecablenews networksuntilFloridawasanticipated togotoTrump. That’swhenthings paused. Virginiawasthefirstindicationthatsomethingwasafoulwhena healthyleadbyTrumpwasscoffedat byChrisStirewaltofFox. Towards theendofthenightwithover90percentreporting,amassivedumpofballotscameinalmostexclusivelyfor Bidenwhichthrewthestateinhisfavor. At10pmourtime,CNN’sJohn Kingstated,“DespitePresidentTrump currentlyleadinginWisconsin,MichiganandPennsylvania,wecannotemphasizeenough,we'renowhereclose tothefinishlineinanyofthosestates. Weneedtocountvotesandsomeof thosecountscouldtakeuntiltomorrow."
Eventually,whilethecountryslept, Bidengainedenormousamountsof groundonthelargeTrumpleadsand eventuallyovertookthegranddistance Trumphadatthecuriouspauseon Tuesdaynight. OnSaturdayafternoon,themediaannouncedthatBiden wouldbethepresident-electevenas hintsofmassivevoterfraudbeganto beexposedwithmanywitnessessigningaffidavitsofseeingfraud. TheDominionVotingSystem,toutedbythe ClintonFoundationandusedinamajorityofUSstatesincludingnineofthe top20countiesandfourofthetop10 countiesthroughoutthecounty,incorrectlyawardedthousandsofvotesto JoeBideninMichiganinonecounty. Thesoftwarewasusedin46other countiesinMichigan.

JohnnyRingoled alifefilledwith violence. Though hewasfamousfor hislastmonthsin Arizona,fatealso broughthimto Texasfora time. Whatturned himtoalifeofcrimeremainsuncertain;butinhisshort,blood-soakedlife, heleftadeepimpactonthehistoryof theWest.
JohnPetersRingowasbornintoa farmingfamilyinGrandForks,Indiana,in1850. Movinggreatdistances wascommoninthosedays,andthe familypackedupandmovedtoMissouriin1858. Hisfather,however, contractedtuberculosis. Duringthe CivilWar,theymovedfurtherwestin hopesofrecoveringhishealth. They crossedtheGreatPlainsin1864as partofawagontrain. Astheyentered Wyoming,hisfatherapparentlyfelloff awagon,andtheshotguninhishands wentoffinhisface,killinghiminstantly. Thedevastatedfamilycontinued ontoCalifornia,stayingwithRingo’s unclenearSanJoseforthenextfew years.
In1869,thenineteen-year-oldRingo leftCaliforniaandmadehiswayto Texas. Butbloodshedwasnotfarbehind. Notlongafterhisarrival,hewas arrestedandfined$75forfiringagun acrossthetownsquareinBurnet. He soonbecameinvolvedinthenotorious MasonCountyWarof1875-77. The CentralTexascountywasinchaos withdifferentfactionsaccusingeach otherofcattlerustling. Afteroneaccusedthiefwaskilledalongwiththe sheriffbringinghimtojail,aseriesof gunfightsandassassinationserupted andtorethecountyapart.
JohnnyRingosoonwasinthemiddle oftheterror. In1875,heandanother manwerearrestedforthemurderof JimCheyney,whomRingohadaccusedofmurderingafriend. Overthe nextseveralmonths,heremainedin jailwhileTexasnewspapersranstories callingRingotheheadofoneofthe factions. Amobofhissupporters brokehimoutofjailatonepoint,but hewassoonrecaptured. TheMason CountyCourthouseburnedtothe groundinJanuary1877,effectively markingtheendofthefighting. More thanadozenpeopleweredead. Most oftheaccusedwerereleasedasthe evidencehadallbeenlostinthe fire. Ringowasacquittedin1878. His popularitystillranhigh,andhewas electedconstableforhisMasonCountyprecinctthatyear.
Lawenforcementdidnotsitwellwith him,andforunknownreasons,he soonleftfortheArizonaTerritory. Withinweeksofhisarrival,hegot intoagunfightinalocalsaloon,seri-
ouslyinjuringaman.Ringo,however, wasnottriedovertheincident. By 1881,hefoundhimselfinthemining boomtownofTombstone. Tombstone itselfwasalreadyinthemidstofincreasingviolenceovercattlerustling andcompetingmineclaims,andRingo,alreadywithabloodyreputation, fellinwiththeCochiseCountyCowboys,agangofthievesandmurderers.
HesoonencounteredDocHolliday, theGeorgiadentistturnedgamblerand gunfighter. Thetwoclashedrepeatedly,oftenchallengingeachothertogunfightsastheirfriendstriedtorestrain them.
Hetooknopartinthe1881gunfightat theOKCorral,buthesworerevenge againstthefourmenwhohadwonthe fightagainsttheCowboys:Holliday andWyatt,Morgan,andVirgil Earp. WyattEarpsuspectedRingoof beinginvolvedwiththecripplingof hisbrotherVirgillaterinDecember 1881andtherevengemurderofhis otherbrotherMorganinMarch 1882. InJanuary1882,RingochallengedHollidaytoafight;andthetwo werebrieflyarrestedonweapons chargesasthetwopreparedtodraw theirgunsoneachother. Amonthlater,Ringowasarrestedagainonanoutstandingchargeofrobberybutsoon released.
Bythespring,Ringoledaposse againstWyattEarpandDocHolliday astheysoughtrevengeagainstthe Cowboyfaction. EarpkilledCurly Brocius,oneofRingo’sassociates. Withinweeks,EarpandHolliday hadleftArizona,butdeathsconnected withtheCowboyscontinuedforsome time.
Bysummer1882,Ringosankintoa drinkingbinge. Hewaslastseenona ranchnotfarfromTombstoneinJuly. Ringodiedundermysteriouscircumstances,afinalvictimoftheviolentlifehehadcreatedforhimself. Howhediedisstillamatterof speculation. Theofficialcoroner’s reportreleasedthatsummersaidthe deathwasasuicidebygunshot,butthe reportalsonotedaknifecutatthebase ofhisscalp. WyattEarpdeniedinvolvementwithRingo’sdeathtoauthorities,butheallegedlytolddifferent storiestoacquaintancesoverthe years. DocHolliday,whowaswanted formurderintheArizonaTerritory, wasreportedlyineitherColoradoansweringanewstringofcharges againsthimorinCalifornia,buthis locationcouldnotbepinpointed.
Itwasalifesoakedinblood,andfew mournedhispassing. Assomanydetailsofhisliferemainedunanswered, moreofhislifebegantobethesubject oftalltalesthatgrewintolegend. By thetwentiethcentury,storiesofRingo’slifewasincludedinsongs,books, andmovies.
God’slightallowsusto seeHisdesires
Forthosewho paynoattentiontonational andsocialpolicies,thiselectionwillpass bylikeevery otherdayand theywillhardlynoticeor careabout whatitmeans forallofus. However,if youaresomeonewhotriestokeepup withthelatesteventsanddecisions thatinvolveourcountryandworld,as aninformedvoteryouhaveprobably alreadymadeupyourmindaboutyour choiceforpresident.Weknowthe countryisdividedaboutmanyissues andonesidewillbegreatlydisappointedwiththeresults,butIpraythat everyonecanstaycalmandgraciously accepttheresultswithmaturityand integrity.
BeforeIsharewhatisonmyheart,I wanttoremindusandthisincludes myselfthatifapersonbelievesthe BibleandisafollowerofChrist,we havetheassurancethatGodisultimatelyincontrolofeverything. WhetherhumansorSatanisinvolved, itisGodwhoallowsorprevents. NothingisdonebehindHisbackand Heisneversurprised.Heknowsthe futureandhasallpowerandauthority tointerveneineverysituation.SometimesitmightnotseemHeisinvolved, butHeis.IfGodwantstoallowsomethingtohappenitisdirectlyassociated withHisperfectplans.Thesameis trueifHestepsinandstopssomething fromhappening.Theworldofcourse doesnotunderstandHissovereignty, butHischildrenarecalledtolearnand trustinHisperfectwill.
IwanttospeakbrieflyaboutthesubjectofGod’slightandrealizethat somemaywonderwhatthishastodo withanelection.Myresponseiseverything.Lightanddarknessarebig dealsinthisworldastheyrepresent truthanderror,goodandevil,sinand righteousness,victoryanddefeat,and wecangoon.Sincelightoverpowers thedarknessandchangeseverythingit comesincontactwith,wehavesecurityandencouragementtoknowit’s impossiblefordarknesstoovercome
torandKingofheavenandearth. WhenChristliveswithinus,Histruth isalightuntoourpath.
IJohnchapteronedeclaresthatGodis lightandhowitisoppositefromdarknessaswenoticeverses5-7.“Thisis themessagewehaveheardfromhim anddeclaretoyou:Godislightandin himthereisnodarknessatall.Ifwe claimtohavefellowshipwithhimand yetwalkinthedarkness,welieanddo notliveoutthetruth.Butifwewalkin thelight,asheisinthelight,wehave fellowshipwithoneanother,andthe bloodofJesus,hisSon,purifiesus fromallsin.”SinceHisfollowersare calledtobethelightoftheworld,we seeinIThessalonians5:5,“Foryou arechildrenoflight,childrenofthe day.Wearenotofthenightorofthe darkness.”AndEphesians5:8,“You wereoncedarkness,butnowyouare lightintheLord,soliveyourlifeas childrenoflight.”
Weseldomappreciatethatwithout lightwecouldnotsee,naturallyand spiritually.JustimagineifourSun wentblackorwelostallelectrical powerwewouldbestumblingaround withaflashlight.WithGodHimself beinglight,HeknewthatwedesperatelyneededHislighttonotonlysee withournaturaleyesbutalsotocomprehendhowcriticalitistospiritually discernHisvoicewithourspiritsand renewedminds.(SeeRomans12:1-2).
ThosewhodonotknowGoddonot haveHislight,buttheoneswhowalk withHimareledbythelightofHis loveandwisdom.Theydonotvote basedonworldlyandculturaltrends buttheyobeyGod’sperfectwill.AsII Peter1:4describes,theyaremadepartakersofGod’sdivinenature,“having escapedthecorruptionintheworld causedbyevildesires.”TheAlmighty wantsallpeopletounderstandHimas Heprovidesanopportunitytoknow whatisholyandpure.Socialcorrectnessisfilledwithopinionsanddesires, buteveryhumanspeculationand thoughtisnotGodinspired.Weare beginningtoseehowbeingfilledwith God’slightgivesustheclaritytoknow whattobelieveandourresponsibility toobeyHimwhichincludeshowto vote.
