I.-The Auctioneers feel that many buyers would like a lasting record that the original album sheets, on which many of the larger lots are still mounted, came from the collection of the late President Roosevelt. The Auctioneers have therefore prepared a small rubber stamp and will be pleased to stamp a lbum sheets and lot sheets in the margin, or wherever desired . Out of town bidders are asked to mark their bid sheet if they wish their album sheets and lot sheets to be so stamped.

By Bur eau of Engraving

These large die proofs are, unle ss otherwise des cribed, all in superb condition, die sunk on India paper, on full size cards about six inches by eight inches. Where the quantity known is given, it is the number known to the catalo guer to be in phil atelic ownership and is based upon pedigree reco rd s and best information obtainable , but cannot be guara nt eed.
As these proofs have not heretofore been in philatelic circulation th e Bureau of Engraving and Printing proof printer 's number appli ed to the back of the proof cards is given for future pedigr ee record . Proofs distributed contemporaneously of issues prior to 1901 were not numbered. Some colors also vary from originals, hence these die proofs probably were a special print ing in the early months of 1933. CataloguP nilne.q "re from Sco'tt's 1946 U.S. SpPri(l/izN7 Colol o_q11P.

Collection, presented

in 1940 by
1862-1939, Specialized Collection of 967 stamps, practically all unused and with some exceptions o. g. or mint. The collection is almost complete and comprises: Postage and Semi-Postals (532), Air Post (75), Air Post Official (27), Official (160), Postage Due (18), Guanacaste (64), Telegraphs (42) and Official Seals (49). Outside of the regular stamps and sets, there are many unlisted stamps and numerous listed, unlisted or unpriced errors and varieties. The collection is beautifully mounted and written up in blank album with Glassine interleaving pages. The binder is Morocco leather with embossed gilt inscription "Costa Rica" and coat of arms. The album is housed in handsome hand carved woven case with monogram "FDR" on the lid, plush lining with separate sockets for rolled gold medals, which are also included. The collection was originally formed by Sr. Alfredo Moya of San Jose, Costa Rica, who won these . medals at the First Philatelic Exhibition 1932 in Costa Rica and the First Central American Philatelic Exhibition 1938 in Guatemala. The condition of the stamps is fine to very fine throughout. The catalogue value of the stamps which are priced by Scott is over $600. This naturally does not take into consideration the numerous unlisted and unpriced varieties, some of which are of considerable rarity.
