USED ON A "H . I. & U.S ." 1.3 CENTS, TYPE I, SUPERB LETTER. FOLDED BEAUTIFUL The adhesive, which is bri g ht and fresh, has lar ge margins all round and is tied to the letter by a red circular "Honolulu Postage Paid". The complete letter, which is addressed to Miss Fidelia Fiske at a mission in Persia, was sent in the mails to Boston, Mass. and then carried outside the mails to Pers ia . It bears, in addition to the red cancellation, a PAID, an 8 in circle (6 cents for U.S. posta ge, Zc for the ship's captain) and a circular black San Francisco receiving pmk of Sept. I. Mailed in 1852, the letter was carried in the same mail as the cover illustrated as Fig. 6 on page 27 of "T he Stamps of Hawaii. " Another letter addressed to Miss Fisk in Persia was in the Harri s Collection and was lot 174 in the Burrus Sale ( H. R. Harmer, Inc.) of May 27, 196.3. Worth Scott
