HAPPY NOVEMBER! This is the month to contemplate our core value of GRATITUDE. What does it mean to you? Hopefully it is more than one day of eating Turkey and thinking about those we love and appreciate. There just isn’t any better way to create personal happiness than practicing gratitude daily. If you are interested in the research - Positivepsychology. com/gratitude-happiness-research take a moment to read it and learn. The take – away? Look on the “sunny side” of the street, the transaction, and, at every opportunity, the “sunny side” of life. Your happiness is contagious – your actions and mindset create the environment around you. As Ghandi would say “Be the change you want to see in the world” support growth, joy and appreciation. You know what I’m thankful for? YOU! Our employees and agents are dedicated, special people and I am blessed to work with each of you. In this season of thanksgiving, I give thanks for the fellowship and camaraderie of our “work family”. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,
Shanon R Harner, CEO One family, One team, One goal.

DID YOU KNOW that according to Real Satisfied only 32.5% of HSNE clients report being return customers of the company or agent? How are you staying in touch with past clients? Leadership. Gratitude. Excellence. Integrity. Innovation. | 3
CORE VALUE / Integrity by Monica Ledbetter “COMPLETE HONESTY IN ALL YOU SAY AND DO.”
Here are a few: •
Taking responsibility for your actions
•
Offering to help others in need, or putting others needs before your own
•
Giving the benefit of the doubt
•
Showing respect to all
•
Coaching associates, I heard the following:
Being humble, knowing the difference between confidence and arrogance
•
“I only did that because _________ failed to do their job!”
Being able to admit when you are wrong
•
Being reliable
This was the response when I, as a young manager, asked Steve D. Scheel (CEO of Scheels All Sports) what was the most important behavior I could model for success. He was telling me how to create and embody integrity. “Easy,” I thought, “I AM honest, and that’s the best way to be.” As you can imagine, it wasn’t long before my principles were tested.
“It’s not possible to help my teammate, I have a lot to do myself.” “Of COURSE he would do that, he ALWAYS does whatever he wants no matter what is going on!” “Do I really need to say ‘hi’ to every customer? I know that person isn’t going to buy anything.” “I was the #1 sales person the last two quarters, surely I don’t have to go to product knowledge training AGAIN.” Time and time again I was confronted with behaviors that were less than flattering – and I considered my team some of the most honest and ethical people I knew!! My integrity was tested as I heard my crew vocalize their frustrations. Truth is, we all have moments when we lack total integrity. Over the years I have learned to reinforce seemingly small actions and behaviors as they are steps on the road to acting with total integrity.
Once you work to make practicing integrity a habit, it becomes second nature. You’ll even notice a shift in your mindset that will affect the way you interact with friends, co-workers and your family. The way you visualize and attack challenges and successes. Doing the right thing is always the right thing, and the feeling you get from knowing you did your best to help another, be honest, show respect, and have a giving heart is hard to top.
