More Measures To Ease Bangkok Traffic Jams Soon

There was free healthy finger food on offer, medical checks and advice available and encouragement to join in the fun. The dancing displays included Latin and

modern styles, with an enthusiastic yellowshirted crowd doing their best to follow all the moves. A great way to begin the birthday celebrations with all ages joining in the fun in a healthy way.

Thailand Are 2014 Suzuki Cup Champions After a Late Comeback

In another effort to ease traffic jams in the capital due to construction of several electric train projects, the Transport Ministry has announced several measures that will see relocation of passenger dropoff areas on major roads and redirecting traffic on some roads to ease traffic problems. Transport ministry’s permanent-secretary Mrs Soithip Trisuddhi revealed the ministry’s measures to cope with traffic congestion after presiding over the meeting with the Department of Highway, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning to discuss the congestion issue. She raised the Vibhavadi Rangsit Road saying it is the major inbound and outbound transport route that Bangkok motorists use where the constructions of the electric railway and the overpass bridges will intensify traffic congestion.

The young Thai team staged a remarkable comeback, conceding 3 goals before getting two late goals of their own from Charyl Chappuis and Chanathip Songkrasin to win the AFF Suzuki Cup with an aggregate score of 4-3 – a match few will forget. In the home fixture Thailand defeated Malaysia 2-0. “We played a beautiful game, a fantastic game,” Thailand coach Kiatisak Senamuang said after the match. Thailand now has a record-equaling fourth title but their first for 12 years, while Kiatisak is he first person to win it as a player and a coach. The winner was also awarded 25 million THB. Chanathip said the Thai team didn’t panic after seeing three goals from Malaysia and continued to play at their own pace. ...From Page 19..... other sweet tempters. They are not expensive but the chances are you will have spent enough for that free farm pass. The ‘urban farm’ is quaint, it’s not huge but you can take a horse-drawn buggy ride as an alternative to a gentle stroll through the carefully maintained and planned gardens. Animals to get the kids excited include sheep to bottle feed, rabbits, ducks and Shetland ponies to ride. Photography opportunities are a-plenty amongst the scarecrows, hay bales or Western styled out- buildings. We’ve yet to have a meal at the restaurant although one reason for the visit was an unsolicited recommendation from a friend who was very impressed with the quality and prices of the meals. If your visit coincides with mealtime, we would be confident that eating on-site would be a great finale to the day.

HUA HIN TODAY, January 2015

Defeat was cruel for Malaysia, who appeared to have pulled off another great escape after they overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit in the semi-final against Vietnam by winning 4-2 in Hanoi. This was the tenth edition of the AFF (Asean Football Federation) Championship, the football championship of Southeast Asia. Co-hosting rights to the group stages were awarded to Singapore and Vietnam with matches being held on 22 November to 20 December 2014. Meanwhile, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand also hosted knock-out stage matches, as their teams advanced to the semi-finals. Singapore was the defending champion, but failed to qualify from the group stage.

“Rick The Brick” ...From Page 19..... It’s been on the bucket list of Rick De Bies for some time; just ‘something he wanted to do’. After months of preparation at the Chock Dee Cha-Am Gym, Rick was ready to rumble in his first (and probably last) time in the ring. The banner was ready and the team ‘anthem’ (a crude version of Pink Floyd’s; ‘Another Brick Rick in the Wall’) was practised in the minibus en route. ‘Rick the Brick’??? To Rick’s embarrassment this is a name he’s probably stuck with for life. He can thank his local support team for that! Rick is a tall, strong and healthy looking Dutchman. A real ‘gentle giant’, who was outwardly calm and relaxed. His only stated concern was that he had no idea of the strengths or weaknesses of his opponent; his experience, height or weight. Just an Englishman named James. Rick was finding it hard to conjure up some aggression towards someone he couldn’t visualise. Physically the combatants were evenly matched, although Rick’s big disadvantage was a thirty year age difference. Rick is a very youthful 55 year old, with James a mere 25 years of age. This was probably the main factor leading to James being awarded the narrow points decision after three rounds. He was just a little more nimble on his feet and Rick a little more exposed. The contest could not have been described as classical Muay Thai, with the boxers following the Marquiss of Queensbury Rules rather than Muay Thai with the use

The re-arrangement of the passenger pick-up and drop-off area at the bus stop in front of the Don Mueang airport is expected to come into effect immediately with staff on site to provide assistance. Another measure is to rearrange the traffic on the Kamphaeng Phet 6 road and the Choet Wutthakat road. It will be reassigned as a one-way route with inbound traffic on the Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road and outbound traffic on the Choet Wutthakat road. The entrance and exit road to the exit 9 of the Don Mueang airport will be renovated and equipped with railings on the sides of the road to prevent cars from picking up and dropping off passengers. The plan is expected to be finished before the 2015 Songkran festival. Mrs Soithip said that the ministry has also planned to construct connecting roads to the Red Line commuter train which is expected to be in service by 2018 to facilitate the passengers. The ministry has ordered the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning to study and design the crossings and the connecting roads within six months. The Department of Highway has suggested the construction of the underpasses and tunnels on the SRT’s land, she added. of feet being a feature. More like a good old fashioned ‘slug fest’ now enshrined on YouTube. Check out the action (Rick in the blue shorts) at: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=iVL1i6UhRaU. At the conclusion Rick, sporting some minor facial swelling, described himself as….…… .“satisfied”. Winning was not the aim, just achieving his ambition without disgrace. Mission accomplished! ‘Gentleman Jim’ was also a gracious sport and the two were able to ‘grin and bare it’ with a post-fight beer; no malice remaining.
