ENQUIRY MINDMAP I assumed that I was a customer, tried to figure out the difference between the dehumidifiers. First of all, I start to think about where I am going to use the dehumidifier? Secondly, how big is my place? After thinking about this, I figure out every dehumidifier have different moisture removal capacity. Then, I start to consider the budget between price and energy efficiency. Plus, I hope the machine will not too noisy in the bedroom when I sleep. On the other hand, there are some special features for different models. For example, nanosilver filter, timer, louvre, inoiser, child lock, laundry mode and sleep mode. I need to take a look and check what I really need with my budget as well. WHO : People who need a dehumidifier for their place to solve moisture problems. WHY : While answering the phone call, I have always made a note regarding how customer asked for their enquiries. I want to build a user-friendly website to help the customer choose a suitable unit. WHAT : Dehumidifier capacity, price, electricity bill and special features. What's the difference between those units? WHEN : Customer decides to buy a dehumidifier but having no idea about the features. HOW : Using the refine filter to highlight the product which may fit the customer's enquiries. WHERE : Customer can just get the suitable dehumidifier online, and no need to go to the physical shop.
10
Different Dehumidifiers have several different capacities. To choose a suitable one should basic on the house size. If the customers already know which capacity they may need, they can just select by range to find it out. Desiccant type of dehumidifier works well in a cold environment; however, compressor type works well in a warm area. On the other hand, commercial use dehumidifiers have a different component. Some kinds of the unit have a splash waterproof feature, which fits bathroom use. It will be better to know where are customers going to use the dehumidifiers first, then we can give the best solution for them. Price is always one of the most important things to buy a home appliance. Some of the customers really care about the noise level of the unit, because they may use it in the bedroom when sleeping. Power consumption is a big deal for the electricity bill, which is one of the most important things as well. Different models have different special features. Customer may look for some special features, this filter can help refine the specific unit which may fit customer's enquiry. NOTE: This is just the first step to build the refine filter to help our customer choose a suitable dehumidifier fits their enquiries. This project will be kept going and modified until the customer no need to call our sales team for help.

Tourist Map Design - Short Stay A short stay in Taichung Railway Station
INTRODUCTION: Taichung Railway Station is the gate to central Taiwan. This station is equipped with a bus terminal and is linked to the Taiwan Boulevard. Over 50 thousand passengers travel through Taichung Railway Station every day.
PERSONA • Name: Tina Lin • Career: College Student • Age: 21 years old • Personal Trait: Independant, brave • LifeStyle: Travel enthusiast, • Outfit: Simple, Tidy with a big backpack and camera
I grew up in Taipei. I spent 4 days travelling around Taichung and the nearby town, I've had a really good time on this holiday. Today is my last day and I am waiting for my train back to Taipei. I still have 50 minutes before my train arrives, is there any tourist spot or souvenir shop close the railway station? Before saying goodbye to this lovely city, I would like to buy something for my parents in Taipei - they are waiting for me at home. I cannot wait to share how much I loved this city with them.

VALUE: There are several historic tourist attractions near to Taichung Railway Station. As designers, we would like to introduce this beautiful area to the tourists who come from far and wide. We noticed that a traveller may not have much time to stay around the station, their main purpose is to get on the train and travel to their next destination. With this in mind, myself and my team members designed a time zone tourist map for the traveller in the Taichung Railway Station. We hope this map will help tourists explore the beauty in this area.

Thawer - Cutting Board
Solving the freeze/thaw problem in the kitchen INTRODUCTION: Living away from home, I started to learn how to cook by myself. I have always thought about how to cook more efficiently to avoid wasting ingredients. In Taiwan, we only go to the supermarket once a week. We are used to buying a great deal of meat which we freeze. However, we do encounter some problems when defrosting the meat directly from the freezer for use in cooking.
FIND PROBLEMS FROM USER JOURNEY PREPARE 1. Peel 2 carrots 2. Cut 3 onions into thin slices 3. Cut 1 potato and the 2 carrots diagonally 4. Take 250g of beef from the freezer and cut it into 1/2" cube
PAN FRY THE INGREDIENTS 1. Heat oil and fry the beef in the pan on both sides until brown 2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pot and add the onion 3. After the onion, add the carrot and potato, pan frying for 10 min
REFERENCE POINT: COOKING A BEEF CURRY
WHO : People who freeze meat feel frustrated when trying to cut frozen meat immediately removed from the freezer. WHY : There are 2 common ways of thawing meat directly from the freezer. One is using the thawing mode of the microwave, the other way is removing the meat earlier, thawing it gradually at room temperature. Both approaches are ineffective ways to solve the cutting problem. WHAT : People care about the freshness of their meat and are keen to avoid waste. WHEN : When taking meat from the freezer, it is frozen and hard to cut. WHICH : The most important thing in cooking is efficient use of time & avoiding waste. HOW : Ensure the cook can work with only the part they need through cutting frozen meat.
48
SCENARIO : I want to cook with meat now, however the meat is still frozen. How can I cut it? I want the process of cutting frozen meat to be easier. When taking meat from the freezer, we often find it is extremely hard to cut. A microwave can only defrost the entire piece - this takes longer and also reduces the food's freshness.
BOIL THE CURRY SOUP
SERVE THE CURRY WITH RICE
1. In the heavy-bottomed pot, add some garlic, curry powder and water 2. Boil the curry soup for 5 minutes 3. Add the beef and wine and let the alcohol evaporate
1. Once the ingredients are all tender, reduce the heat 2. Serve the beef curry with rice 3. Enjoy your meal
1 MICROWAVE
A microwave can only defrost the whole cut of meat, this is slow and also reduces the food's freshness.
2 SIT & WAIT
Leaving the meat to thaw at room temperature is slow and bacteria-prone.

CONCEPT AND TECHNOLOGY Cooks can choose only to defrost the part they want to cook. T.G.M (thermo-electric generating module) Thermoelectric generators are devices that convert heat directly into electrical energy using a phenomenon called the Seebeck effect. In short, T.G.M can be used to control temperature immediately, such as cooling and heating.

Scenario Exploration - Newcomers How can I find a design role in the UK?
INTRODUCTION: Since the UK government started providing the 2 year, Tier 5 visa to Taiwanese youth, lots of young people have moved to the UK with the ambition of finding a professional design job. There are several difficulties and frustrations along the way, and so we decided to host a workshop to discover the key issues, applying our user experience knowledge.
PERSONA • Name: Anne Chen • Career: 4 years as a UI designer • Age: 27 years old • Personal Trait: Independant, assertive, ambitious, brave, slightly introverted and open-minded • Lifestyle: Hard-working, frugal, travel-addicted • Tech usage: Familiar with smart phones and web technology DESCRIPTION: I just arrived in London, I have no friends here. I have 4 years of working experience as a UI designer. I would like to use my 2 year visa to develop my career in the UK whilst travelling in Europe.
62
PROBLEMS 1. I had just arrived in London and had no friends here. I have 4 years of work experience as a UI designer. Is it possible for me to find a UI designer job here in London as well? 2. What should I prepare in order to apply for a new role? Is my CV and portfolio good enough? How will the interview be conducted? I have so many questions. Is there anyone I can ask or approach to be my mentor? 3. Let me try to do some research online first. Is there any meetup groups for designers here in London? 4. I need to find a job as soon as possible, otherwise, I may run out of money. There are so many pressures from my parents - everyone keeps asking me if I found a job already. 5. Finally, a chance for an interview, but what should I prepare? What kind of questions will they ask me? 6. Ohhh, it is unbelievable, they made me an offer! How will I know if it is acceptable or not? Is the salary too low? How should I negotiate with them? Will they provide a Tier 2 visa for me in the future?
