Design Recommendations for
HOTEL VENUS
Meeting Notes •
Hotel Venus is a salon with an urban, chic, and industrial feel.
•
Clients should feel comfortable, relaxed, happy, and special when they arrive at the salon- from their initial greeting until they walk out the door.
•
Some problem areas: –
Unhappy with storage at the front of the salon. Need additional/new storage, but still some separation.
–
Would like to “update” or “freshen up” the look of the space, but need to focus the ideas/ efforts.
–
The color bar needs updating.
–
Natural manicure station coming, but where?
–
Would like new signage, but unsure of what color to commit to.
Designer Goals • To provide some solutions to your outlined problem areas • To help focus your design plan • To provide a timeline & action steps to make the project more manageable • To help inspire & support the vision for your space through good communication & collaboration • To keep the best intentions of your business in mind while helping you reach the next level aesthetically
Inspiration
The Plan •
•
•
Phase 1 –
Focus on the front ¼ of the store (reception & waiting area) that will set the tone for the entire space (building upon the industrial chic feel, but bringing it to the next level)
–
Build a new wall solution that will be multifunctional for storage & work (see renderings on the next page). It would be a mix of metal pipes & glass and/or white lacquer.
–
Create some division between the front and back with curtains, wall, or nail station.
–
Update the seating area chair fabric
–
Solidify the window signage color so as to bring in some elements of that color into the space (pink/red?)
Phase 2 –
Reorganize the color bar & make it more functional/visually appealing (that includes layout)
–
Add a place for clients to “wait” and relax while they wait (create a kitchen feel)
–
Images/ideas for this to come while we work on phase 1, but I envision bringing in glass, metal, and a pop of color to the counter area
Phase 3 –
Update existing furnishing/lighting for each station for better aesthetic & function as needed
–
Start thinking and/or updating the break room if desired
Phase 1 Renderings The entire wall is 99.5 inches wide. That means, we can successfully do two 4-foot sections (on the left). If we have a small bit of wiggle room with Aveda’s 3-foot rule, we can do three 2.75-foot sections (on the right). Any area not holding product can have accessories, flowers, etc. The space beneath the first shelf can either be open or have a credenza/table/etc. The legs do not have to go to the floor and can instead go into the wall freeing up that bottom space if needed. The shelves can be made of glass, wood, or white (or another color) lacquer.
Phase 1 Pricing •  Pricing would be: $15/hour for any shopping, rendering, design, installation work if the client decides to move forward (as little or as much as client desires)
+ the price of materials, furniture, etc.
What’s The Next Step? • It’s up to you! • Do you like all or some of the proposed ideas? • What ideas will not work for you or will need to be changed? • What materials will we need for Phase 1? I can get a pricing list on materials needed once a design plan is determined. • Are you comfortable working together and moving forward? If so, let’s set some due dates on the calendar.
Thank You Kathy, thank you for the opportunity to work with you on updating Hotel Venus. This is just the first step to making your pinning & creative ideas a reality! Hotel Venus is already so great, and these changes can only make it that much better. Again, thanks for the inspiration & opportunity. -Kelley
