I sat down with Borris at his Lincoln Park studio to talk about how he started, where he’s going, and what makes him tick.

Who inspires you?

My mother, she is classic and elegant so that is what I think about when I am designing. Also my friend Kenya is young, beautiful and sexy. I often think about what she would want to wear. I am inspired by everything around me. If you keep your Eyes Open you will find inspiration everywhere. Also each collection is inspired by a personal experience that has happened to me. Mostly a romantic happening, my collections are full of love and romanticism.

Tell me how you learned to Design? Did you attend school here in Chicago?

I am self-taught. I was studying Psychology and I decided it was not for me. I moved to Chicago 13 years ago and took a Sewing Class 5 years ago and I have been designing ever since.

What Celebrities do you want to designer for?

What are feelings on Project Runway?

Heidi Klum, I Love her! (CALL ME!) Also Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon I would love to design for them.

Love it!! I love Heidi and Michael Kors! They are the only reason I watch the show every week!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? – I see myself taking over the upstairs of my building and having a bigger work space and studio and opening a second studio in Amsterdam. I truly love the culture and people there. They are starting a fashion movement and I would like to be one of the designers to help propel it.

Amsterdam reminds me so much of Chicago, everyone is so nice and supportive. The city is really on the cusp of driving a truly unique fashion culture. Finally, a third studio in Milan. nd

Do you plan on keeping Chicago your home?

Of Course, Chicago is an amazing city with so much to offer. I truly feel like Chicago is my home. Chicago has so much room for growth and it has an excellent support structure for the Fashion Community. I can not imagine being any place else! Chicago is so loyal and supportive.

Borris and I shared a ton of laughs but what is truly inspiring is how humble, honest and uplifting he is. He is truly an amazing person with a huge heart, who is grateful for his talents, his friends, and to the city that supports and loves him.

Celebrities are just like us, they dont wake up looking hot! Its the makeup they choose and a good makeup artist that saves the day!

For my December Hush on Beauty, I choose two celebrities looks that Im loving at the current moment. These looks are fun and playful and easy to recreate just in time for a playful and classic New Years Eve look.

Rhiannas look is simple, playful and natural With a few Rocker elements, while Angelina (via The Tourist movie) shows us why classic and elegant will never go out of Style!

. (coming to theaters Mid. December) has Angelina looking very polished and glamorous. You can see her wearing a brown smoky eye and a nude lip.

To achieve this look start by prepping your eye lid with lid primer (see #6), so that your lid will avoid creasing.

Use a black eye liner pencil and trace along your upper and lover lash line smooth strokes. To give the pencil staying power use a liner brush and sweep a thin layer of black eye shadow over the pencil. Smudge the line to create a smokey look and then apply brown eye shadow to the lid and blend. Be careful not to blend over the crease.

To add a more definition to the eye add a little black eye shadow to the outer corners of the eye and blend it in to the crease. Follow with two coats of black mascara .

For the cheeks dab a little bit of bronzer and smooth it with a good blush brush.

Line your lips with nude lip liner and apply nude lipstick on the top. There you have the look of Angelina via the movie the tourist!

Next on my list of favorites celebrity looks is the playful, simple, rocker look of Rhianna!

She is sporting a navy eye and a magenta lip.

Again, prep your lids with primer and then apply a neutral eye shadow (see #1) to the entire lid.

Line your upper and lower lash line as close to the eye as possible with navy liquid or gel eyeliner (see #2) and wing it out in a straight unsmudged line.

Then go over the navy liner and trace your lower lash line with a thin layer of black eye shadow.

Add false eyelashes and apply black mascara.

Use a luminous bronzer on your cheek bones and blend it out to your temples.

To finish the look, line your lips with nude lip liner and follow with magenta lipstick.

While reviewing Directors Mike Merrill's film, award winning urban drama, Caught up in The Game, I couldn't help but think that this is one of those films that could very well end up being a urban drama masterpiece. The movie has a little something for everyone and that makes the perfect date movie! Something for him to love, the action and a beautiful leading lady, something for her to love, seeing true love unfold is always endearing and it's every girl's dream to experience love at first sight.

This story has an angle and a plot that you don't see coming. Conflict is expected to ensue when Lisa meets Joshua but the twist displays the true skill of the films writer and director Mike Merrill. It is my intention to make you do a google search for the film and experience what it's like to get caught up in the film for yourself, in which you will discover why under Mike Merrill's direction, he took his cast of up and coming actors and actresses to well known future A-listers.

As a writer, producer, director and author, Michael Merrill has made a life commitment to bringing quality films based on real-life situations to moviegoers and readers. Merrill was born and raised on the Westside of Chicago, Illinois. He has been writing for 20 years and has three full-length screenplays completed and three short films directed. The shorts include Twisted ; On the Wrong Path and A Shot Away all very successful productions.

Merrill s love for telling stories and bringing them to life started while he was in college at Southern Illinois University, where he pursued a degree in radio, television and film. Ironically, Merrill learned the foundation of movie making while working for the campus television station as a camera operator. Later, he transferred to Western Illinois University and studied broadcast communications.

After college, Merrill landed a job at American Airlines, where he has worked for 15 years. While working and still reaching for his film career, Merrill picked up a pencil and paper and began writing stories, embarking on his journey to becoming the captivating, intriguing writer he is today. He attended classes at U.C.L.A. s extension program, Hollywood Film Institute, and Fast Forward that really taught him about the business and was the inspiration for his continuance of his pursuing his dreams. I always was a visual person, says Merrill. I wanted people to see my characters the way I saw them visually .

Merrill began his professional career writing and producing music videos. His videos for the rap group The Slick Boys ; a trio of undercover police officers who perform positive rap songs, and Do or Die ; a national rap group, along with other local groups in the Chicago area appeared on local and national stations including MTV.

N Site Films was created in 1994 with the goals to write, produce and direct feature films, music videos and television shows.

2003 was a break out year for Merrill, as he wrote and directed the feature film, Even Trade . In 2005, he teamed up with writer, producer Amanda Dee and they formed That s Common Produc tions, which had already produced Desire , an African American soap opera. In 2008 investor John Bradshaw financed Merrill script Caught in the Game . It was shot in 2008 and is completed with a distribution deal with Universal VOD and the Dish network. Caught In The Game also won the top three awards at the San Diego black film festival in 2009, Best Film, Filmmaker Choice Award and Best Director and was nominated for best film in Chicago s Black Harvest Film festi val.

1 t o h S p a n S . . . . h s u Last H Jungle Allure brought out the wild animal in us all. I felt as if I was sitting in the jungle watching the wild elegant inhabitants of the jungle strut down the runway. The Cocktail party started at 7pm and we walked into a live band setting a great mood for the evening. Great hor d'oeuvres and cocktails were pasted around and a fun candy bar was place to the side for guests to enjoy. The clothes was styled with a flair for the wild and a taste of what you would see on the red carpet. Aboona Girl paired sexy with modes pieces to give the modern girl the right look for day and night. The jewelry gave the pieces a fun funky flair, and the shoes by Kham'ryn B were the perfect compliment to each outfit. If I were you Chicago I would watch for Aboona Girl .. because they are a Chicago Hush.

Celebrities are trend setters, Celebrities take risks and they allow us to live our dreams through them. They can provide inspiration and make us ask who will ever take their place?
