GNS SCIENCE PLANNING FOR OUR FUTURE Dr Nancy Bertler Sea Level Rise - The Real Deal In 2100 New research suggests that a global sea level rise of at least 1m (and probably up to 2m) is possible by the end of the century due to climate change. How could this happen and what are the implications for the Hutt Valley? Nancy Bertler is the Chief Scientist of the 9-nation Roosevelt Island Climate Evolution (RICE) - a project which focuses on the stability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet in a warming world. ASTRONOMY NIGHT: THE NIGHT SKY 2017
A scavenger hunt through the Wainuiomata Library in honour of William Shakespeare and International Poetry Day. Come in and collect a booklet to start your Shakespearian adventure!
Antony Gomez, President of the Wellington Astronomical Society, will talk you through the amazing things visible in the sky this year as well as major planetary events. If the sky is clear, we’ll head outside after the talk for a bit of stargazing.
