Chris Bourke, an experienced journalist and writer with a strong interest in music and music history, will talk us through the Hutt Valley’s role in popular music.
Dress up as your favourite character and be in to win prizes as we have Star Wars themed activities culminating in the showing of the movie that began it.

Astronomy Night: New Zealand’s Role in Space Exploration 11 October, 6:30pm War Memorial Library Join Haritina Mogosanu and Sam Leske from the New Zealand Astrobiology Network to discuss New Zealand’s role in space exploration. Joining them will be Tawhai Moss, Policy Advisor, Space Policy, of the NZ Space Agency.

Petone Library and Petone Settlers Museum Open Day 2 November, 10am-3pm Petone Library View historical items from the collections of the Petone Library and Petone Settlers Museum during Heritage Week!
Geotechnical Assessment around the War Memorial Library Following a Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA) indicating an NBS of between 40% and 45%, further geotechnical assessemnts have been scheduled from 14-17 October. Due to the predicted noise and disruption, all events at the Library during this time have been relocated or rescheduled and the Library will be closed on Monday 14 October. The level of disturbance and noise will be assessed on the Monday and a decision as to whether we open from Tuesday to Thursday that week will be made. HighLight: Carnival of Lights Lower Hutt’s Riddiford Garden will again be transformed into a spectacular carnival of light for all ages from 25-28 October. Get lost across space and time, through magical forests and maybe even fall in love. This year we'll have a beautiful installation, Love Birds, inside the War Memorial Library! Note: The War Memorial Library will be closing early on 24 & 25 October at 6pm and parts of the car park will be unavailable from 23-30 October.
