“Perfect Review... Number Ten at The White Hart Ironbridge...
On a glorious sunny evening, after a lovely walk alongside the picturesque Ironbridge Wharfage, My colleague Luke and I decided to dine at the popular Number 10 restaurant at The White Hart Café bar & Bistro. Set in this beautiful eighteenth century beer house, Alex and team have made a fabulous job of updating this to create a relaxed café bar style feel by day and modern British restaurant and bar by night. On entering the beautiful courtyard terrace amidst with pretty flowers, a glorious place to sit and admire the breath taking views. We noticed the home grown herb boxes that are used daily in the kitchen by local chef Katie Bradley and team to create flavour and balance in the food.

Another exciting venture was noticed on arrival was The White Harts, Number 9 café, which is located to the right hand side of the courtyard, this lovely café is in keeping with The Eighteenth century building and is open from 10am till 5pm and offers a brunch menu (served between 10am – noon) and a light lunches from noon until 4pm. Afternoon tea served everyday with a tempting selection of beautiful homemade cakes and scones, or go early for the homemade doughnuts and strawberry jam!
On entering we were greeted by Alex and team, who were warm and extremely friendly. We were seated upstairs in the first floor gallery, a table for two with a view of the river, what could be better than this! Number Ten is an intimate 40 seat fine dining restaurant. Two thirds of the restaurant is on the first floor gallery with large window views over the Severn and beyond. There is a small amount of seating on the ground floor too; this area also works well as a ‘semi private’ space for tables up to 14*. Beautiful décor fine tableware and the aroma of beautiful food in the air, we were handed the drinks menu, I opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio blush and my colleague Luke chose a lager shandy as he was my chauffeur for the evening. There is extensive drinks menu to suit all from local Ales such as Shropshire Lad, Razor back, New world pale ale, to spirits and for those who fancy bubbles Laurent-Perrier champagne. The menu was delectable, the choice was amazing so hard to make a decision, for starters a few of the dishes to choose from were Heritage Tomato Salad, Goats Cheese Chantilly Basil & Pesto Parmesan wafer £7 to Salmon Pastrami, Pickled cucumber Thousand Island Dressing & Rye Bread £7. Luke opted for White Asparagus, Slow cooked Egg & Caesar Hollandaise £7, and I chose Pork & Apple Strumpet, Black pudding and Piccalilli £7.

Whilst waiting for our starters to arrive, were served a large bottle of chilled water and a selection of fresh warm bread and butter to enjoy whilst we read the menu. This was delicious, beautiful homemade bread. Perfecto. The starters arrived promptly and we couldn’t wait to tuck in, it was divine- we decided to share, so we could both have a taste of this scrumptious food. The pork & Apple strumpet was divine, the flavours mixed with black pudding and the tantalizing taste of the piccalilli were gorg. Luke’s white Asparagus, Slow cooked egg and Caesar Hollandaise complimented each other perfectly. The main menu was sensational, many beautiful choices from Lamb Rump, Pomme Dauphine, Courgette, Tomato & Basil £18. Turbot, Jersey Royals, Asparagus Peas & Buttered seaweed £18, we finally made a choice –Luke opted for Sirloin Steak ‘Au Poivre’,Jenga chips and dressed leaves £22 and I couldn’t resist Belly Pork, Scotch Egg, Hash Browns, Wild Garlic & Black pudding £18. Taking in the ambient atmosphere, lovely music & scenic views. I can see why the Restaurant Number Ten is so popular, for a Wednesday evening the restaurant was bustling with many diners enjoying a mid-week treat. Well – every morsel of this fine food was amazing, Luke’s steak was a perfect ,medium rare cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, the Jenga chips were fabulous and the mixed salad was crispy crunchy and refreshing, he was in food heaven. Wow is all I can say, I have never tried belly pork before, it was tender, bursting with flavour, a fantastic texture. The wild garlic was amazing and complimented this dish so well, black pudding, Scotch egg and Hash browns were perfect companions this wonderful dish, garnished with edible Hibiscus flowers.
After a much needed pause, onto puds... again some amazing choices like Vanilla Crème Brulee £6 Treacle Tart & Vanilla ice-cream. Luke decided on Chocolate Brownie, Coconut Sorbet & marshmallow £7, myself - Salted Caramel Fondant & Vanilla ice cream £7 - again another amazing food experience that tantalized the taste buds. The chocolate brownie was perfect, gooey chocolate heaven sensation mixed with the coconut sorbet created a fantastic flavour and the marshmallow topped it off nicely. The Salted Caramel fondant and vanilla ice-cream was a taste sensation, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Overall a fantastic dining experience, fantastic high class food, attentive staff, beautiful surroundings, well done to Alex and team 10/10 from The Hype magazine. Number Ten, is open Monday to Saturday evenings from 6pm offering a fine dining style menu. Number Ten features Taster menu dining events most months and is also available for private parties on some nights. The Pub is open daily from 11am for coffee and snacks; pub lunch is served from noon with a bar grazing menu most evenings. With Thai being one of my favourite foods, we as a family decided to dine on this glorious summers evening at the award winning King and Thai in Broseley. On entering the building we were immediately hit by the wonderful aroma of gorgeous food, as my brother Lee has never sampled Thai cuisine so he was excited to try his first Thai experience here.
We were greeted with a very warm welcome by the extremely friendly team. The Forester bar serves wine and Tapas Tuesdays-Saturdays from 5pm & Friday & Saturday from 12-2pm. If you just fancy a drink or maybe even a cocktail the Forester bar is the place to come. We were led into the restaurant which seats 64 people, adorned with fresh Thai flowers, gorgeous décor and fine tableware, it felt like I’d stepped into Thai heaven.

We were seated with views of the lovely garden area and handed a wine list and menu, whilst taking in the ambience and ordered a glass of wine, which came with Tapas, My mum chose Thai spring roll as did Lee, and I opted for Chicken Satay Skewer a little sample to tantalise you taste buds whilst gazing over the menu.
The Tapas was delightful the menu had a fantastic choice of tempting foods and flavours. A selection of starters from Soups Tom Yam Goon Soup “The King of Thai Soup” Tiger prawn in hot & sour sauce, with fresh glangal, chillies, lemon grass, lime kaffir with lime roasted chilli oil and Chicken, lemon grass, fresh ginger honey glaze salad.
Mum & Lee opted for Thai spicy fish cakes with sweet and sour vinaigrette. I opted for Crispy duck leg with citrus salad. We literally couldn’t wait for them to arrive… The starters promptly arrived and were glorious, the duck leg was a crispy taste sensation cooked to perfection with a citrus salad alongside complimented it brilliantly, a fusion of flavours that were stunning. The Thai spicy fish cakes looked and tasted amazing, salmon fresh, herbs fantastic, delightful consistency and truly flavoursome Foodie Heaven.

Prawns with Mixed Vegetable Chilli and Fresh Ginger in Light Soy Sauce £12.95. Chef Suree’s famous Green Tiger Prawn Curry with Thai Vegetables served with Steamed Rice for me. We added some Pad Thai Noodles to accompany our dishes too.
The Thai Green Curry was sensational, bursting with flavours galore; chilli, coriander, garlic, pepper, green beans and bamboo shoots a truly flavoursome dish with the authentic taste of Asia, the tiger prawns were delicious and plump, the noodles and rice were tasty – a sublime dish. The Stir Fried King Prawns were delectable a true mixture of fresh vegetables adorned with a light soy sauce -my brother is truly impressed with Suree’s tasty Thai food.

Onto Suree’s famous pudding menu – something I’ve been excited for my brother to experience, with Suree’s creative talent and delicious pudding menu from Thai styled Fried Ice-Cream with Mango Sauce £5.95 to Eton Mess with Ice-Cream and Waffle Cup. So for my mum, Lemon Meringue Sundae, Lee chose Baked Raspberry Cheesecake with Ice-Cream, I couldn’t resist the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. They arrived in all their glory, we were blown away by the elaborate presentation, a lovely way to refresh the palate after the tasty infusion of flavour’s we had eaten.
The Lemon Meringue Sundae was zesty, mouthwatering & refreshing. The Baked Raspberry Cheesecake with fresh strawberries a scoop of ice-cream and a delicate pretty wafer was absolutely amazing. I had to sample Lee’s pudding, which was amazing, fantastic biscuit based with light fluffy sensation. My Chocolate Brownie Sundae was gorgeous with mint chocolate ice-cream; balls of mintyness on top and crunchy dark chocolate pieces with cream.
Fantastic dining experience, friendly staff beautiful surroundings, top class high quality award winning food, Open from 5pm for Thai Tapas & Sharing Platters, which you can enjoy either in the bar or outside in the gardens - perfect for Summer. The King and Thai is highly recommended by The Hype team five stars to Suree, Simon and team for a fantastic dining experience.

Escape to this Greek gem for a truly traditional...
It was a particularly freezing Friday evening in February in Telford and all I could dream about was disappearing away on holiday somewhere with the sun shining. Stepping into the family run Odyssey Greek Restaurant in the centre of Telford we were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff, beautiful modern décor and the aroma of Greek food. The ambient restaurant was bustling with other customers and in the background traditional Greek music transported us all away to a sunnier destination.

We opted for the Greek meze menu- although the menu is so extensive if you wanted to have just one dish from the grill, options are endless including a fine array of steaks, grilled dishes, seafood, stuffed vegetables and a good selection of vegetarian dishes! We couldn’t decide as everything sounded amazing so the meze menu was a perfect option; a true feast for the eyes and our stomachs in turn.
As the starters began to arrive we couldn’t decide which to try first as the plates kept arriving brimming with traditional Greek food including Freshly fried Calamari, a tasty selections of homemade dips, Greek olives, pitta bread, Greek salad, grilled haloumi, smoked pork loin, breaded crab croquettes, black eyed bean salad, tiger prawns and my personal favourite spiced pork sausage marinated in red wine and coriander. A selection to impress any customer which was accompanied by a beautiful Mateus wine.
The authentic food continued in the meze main course with stuffed vine leaves, beef marinated in red wine and spices, fillets of grilled chicken mixed with the families own special spices, marinated, grilled pork loin, slow cooked mouth-watering meat with peas (that falls apart in your mouth) along with YiaYia’s traditional rice and potatoes. We were in food heaven. So many different but delicious flavours made this menu more of an experience than a meal. The traditional, homemade food was a tonic for the soul after a

long week and with each mouthful we were transported away to Greece - between excitedly encouraging each other to try another of the delicious options. We opted for a selection of traditional Greek desserts that did not disappoint and with a complimentary shot of ouzo to finish off the dining experience we were well and truly in love with this restaurant. The service was excellent and the friendly, attentive staff are a credit to Costas. The food is extremely reasonable and all freshly made by the family. 5 stars from us all and the other diners at the time were certainly in the same mind-set. The extensive meze meal is £17.95 per person and £22.95 on the party nights due to the added entertainment.
We plan to come back to experience the party night where they have live music and dancers on all night as you dine. Open 7 days a week from 5.30pm, we are already planning our next trip away to visit Odyssey - instead of the stress of packing our bags, to escape to this Greek gem in the heart of Telford, the only planning we need to do is to bring our empty bellys and book a table to avoid disappointment as this is really a fantastic night out not just a meal!

Fridge Comics was started due to my interest in geek culture and the need to provide a hub for the burgeoning community in Telford that required a place for people to go to without travelling to Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton or further afield. At first we started local events with comic books and graphic novels which quickly expanded into unique board games and collectable figures including Pop Vinyls. Since moving into Wellington Indoor Market we have provided a place for people to meet and talk about their interests, experience new and emerging board and card games, smaller known comic books and have an ability to request items on demand. We also hold regular events including International Table Top Day at the end of April and Free Comic Book Day in May and October respectively with others being organised shortly. Currently we are in the process of opening a second store in the Telford Town Centre area near The Thomas Botfield so that we can reach out to other members of the community that cannot make it to Wellington which will allow us more longer opening hours. Ready For Summer - Electrical Safety First…
By law, all homeowners and landlords must be able to prove that all electrical installation work meets Part P, or they will be committing a criminal offence. Local authorities can make homeowners or landlords remove or alter any work that does not meet the Building Regulations.
Is it important who carries out electrical installation work in my home? Yes. Electrical installation work must be carried out only by people who have the knowledge, skill and experience needed to avoid any danger to themselves and others. We strongly recommend that you use a registered electrician to do any electrical installation work you need. They work to the UK national safety standard and will give you a safety certificate to confirm that their work has been designed, inspected and tested in line with that standard. You can find full details on Part P on the Communities and Local Government website: www.communities.gov.uk
All electrical installation work in a home, garden, conservatory or outbuilding must meet the Building Regulations. With the exception of some types of minor work, all electrical work must either be reported to the local-authority building-control, or be carried out by an electrician who is registered with one of the Government-approved scheme providers.
What do I need to do before electrical installation work can be carried out in my home? You must either: •tell your local-authority building-control about the installation work before it starts; or •employ an electrician who is registered with one of the Government-approved Part P schemes. We recommend that you use a registered electrician to do the electrical installation work. The advantages of using a registered electrician are: •you will not have to pay any building-control charges; •the electrician can deal with everything for you; •the electrician will arrange for you to receive a certificate that confirms the work meets Building Regulations; •you have to access to a formal complaints procedure if the work doesn't meet Building Regulations; and •you can choose to take out an insurance-backed guarantee when you have the work done, and you can make a claim if the work is later found not to meet Building Regulations. What is Part P? In 2005 the Government introduced electrical safety rules into the Building Regulations for England and Wales. Because of this, most fixed electrical installation work in homes must, by law, meet the Building Regulations. Part P states that anyone carrying out electrical installation work in a home must make sure that the work is designed and installed to protect people from fire and electric shocks. It applies to any changes made to existing installations, including any parts that have been rewired.
Who is responsible for making sure that electrical work meets the requirements of Part P?

Wellington Market Comic Con 2017: The Return!
Following on the success of last year's event, which raised more than £1,000 for different charities, the Wellington Market Comic Con will be back on Saturday August 12th 2017. The event will include several family friendly activities going on throughout the day: a "Hunt for Heroes" for children, a cosplay competition, a geeky quiz, a charity auction, and raffle as well as HoneyDukes sweet shop, from Hogsmead in Harry Potter! There will also be lots of specialist stalls with geeky goods and gifts! Local event organiser Emma Woodhouse-Unwin, who also runs Vintage Geek in Wellington Market, said "the last event was brilliant and showed what the market is all about. Ingredients For 2 smoothies you will need: 1 Ripe Banana 1 Cup Frozen Blueberries 1 Cup Nonfat Plain Yogurt
Method 1. Using a blender, combine the banana, blueberries, and yogurt. 2. Blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into two glasses; serve immediately. TIP: Get wide straws to make these easier to drink!
Ingredients 4 good-quality sustainable salmon fillets (about 150g each) 200g Mange Tout 150g Whole Baby Carrots 3-4 Large Potatoes (cut into wedges with skin on) 3 tbsp olive oil, plus extra to drizzle Squeeze of lemon juice Soy Sauce
Method 1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan180°C/gas 6. Tumble the veg and wedges into a shallow roasting tray. Pour over 3 tbsp olive oil, season with sea salt and ground black pepper, then gently toss to coat. Roast for 20 minutes. 2. .Add the Salmon fillets on top. Season, then drizzle with a little more oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Return to the oven for 10-12 minutes until the salmon is just cooked through and the vegetables are tender. Drizzle with a little olive oil and soy sauce and enjoy!

Since 2011 Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall have established themselves as one of British pop’s brightest acts. With their new album ‘Glory Days’, led by the glorious and cheeky lead single 'Shout Out To My Ex', this only makes this fact even more glaringly obvious.
Signature hits including ‘Move’, ‘Wings’ and ‘Black Magic’ - the latter becoming their third UK chart-topper, stubbornly spending three weeks at the top last summer - have helped the Number One-selling girlband score over one billion YouTube and Vevo views worldwide, alongside massive tours of the UK, Australia, Japan and the US – where their debut album smashed a record the Spice Girls held for almost two decades.

Changing the lives of homeless young people Stay provides housing and support to homeless and vulnerable young people and families in Telford and Wrekin.
Stay, now in it’s 26th year first came into being in 1990 when the “Stay Project” was opened in Oakengates as part of the Challenge Anneka TV programme. Since then Stay has supported and housed thousands of local young people who found themselves with nowhere else to turn.
To a lot of people, homelessness in the UK is not a great problem. This could be because more often than not, homelessness is hidden. It is true that some homeless people do sleep on park benches or in shop doorways in public view. Most however, will try to find some shelter and privacy away from public glare – and sometimes abuse or even assault.
The Telford & Wrekin Homelessness Strategy reports a 65% increase since 2011 of people presenting themselves as homeless right here in Telford. Some of these people may be “sofa surfing” - spending as long as they are permitted on a friend/family members sofa before moving on to another. People become homeless for a variety of reasons, two of the most common being family relationship breakdown and fleeing an abusive partner or family member.
At any one time Stay is supporting around 150 young people and families who have found themselves homeless and vulnerable often through no fault of their own. Our job is to support them through any issues in their lives at that time, identify their goals and aspirations, equip them with the skills needed to live independently, and help them realise their full potential. Stay believes that with the right help & support every young person has the potential to thrive. In short, our mission in Stay is to “Change the Lives of Homeless Young People”.

A fearful dog can be stressful for everyone.
For the friend who just wants to say hello, for another dog who just wants to play and for the owner who wants their dog to be able to do all those things. There is no quick fix for a dog who is often frightened or nervous but here are a few tips to get the ball rolling.
Tip 1. Stay Calm
When you predict something is going to make your dog scared (such as another dog or person), the natural reaction is to become nervous yourself. You might subconsciously become tense or reassure your dog that everything is ok. By tensing up you are telling the dog that there is about to be an incident that is worth worrying about. If you remain calm and don’t show the dog that you are afraid of the situation, they are less likely to be afraid themselves. If you comfort a dog while they are acting frightened or nervous, you are actually rewarding them for showing that behaviour with attention. They will then repeat that fearful behaviour in future, in order to get more of your attention.
Tip 2. Training Classes
Through training classes and strengthening the bond between you and your dog, you will increase their confidence when they are with you towards other people and dogs. Start off slowly, just by being in the same vicinity as other people or dogs. Don’t try to get anyone to greet your dog straight away, start off just by being around others. Over time (may take many months) and regular classes you will build up to people greeting your dog. Don’t rush! One bad experience for your dog could possibly set you back to the beginning.
Tip 3. Desensitization
By taking your dog to places with unusual sounds or lots of people and dogs regularly will slowly increase their confidence in these
situations. If your dog is particularly frightened of loud noises, you could always get a CD that plays noises such as fireworks, cars backfiring etc., in the house. By having this on quietly to start with and over time increasing the volume, the dog will get used to the noises that used to frighten them.
Tip 4. Behaviour Modifying Pheromones
When a dog is born the mother releases a pheromone, called Dog Appeasing Pheromone (D.A.P), which calms the puppies and makes them feel safe. This pheromone also works on adult dogs and has been developed into products such as collars and diffusers for the home. The pheromone doesn’t affect anyone other than dogs and we can’t even smell it! Next time you’re at the vets or in a pet shop, ask if they have any D.A.P products available and have a look.
Tip 5. Seek Professional Help
Sometimes, the first 4 tips just won’t be enough. If you are still struggling with your fearful dog you may need help from a professional canine behaviourist. Although we vets can give some behavioural advice, often we may refer dogs needing more in depth help to a professional behaviourist who deals with it all the time. There are many different canine behaviourists out there and it can get quite confusing trying to find the best one for you. So before you get in touch with any ask your vet who they recommend.
Tip 6. Don’t give up!
Getting your dog to be more confident and overcome their fears can be a long, challenging experience but by getting through it you will have a happier companion with a more fulfilled life at the end of it.
