5 July 2019 OUTDOOR CINEMA – THE GREATEST SHOWMAN - Blists Hill Museum The team behind the hugely popular annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival have launched their longwalks programme for the 2019 festival. The event, running from 4 - 12 May, is offering more than 50 FREE walks over nine days, making it probably the biggest in the West Midlands and one of the best in the country.

Then DJ Goldierocks will turn things up in the interval, getting the crowd in the mood before the Urban Soul Orchestra and vocalists return to the stage to bring a vibrant atmosphere to the summer evening. One dance track will follow another, as the delightful grounds here at Weston turn into a magical alfresco celebration, with accompanying lasers. 13 & 14 July 2019 IRONBRIDGE GORGE BRASS BAND The Museum of Iron, Coalbrookdale. The popular Ironbridge Gorge Brass

Band Festival will take place over the weekend of 13th and 14th July outdoors on The Green at the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. Now in its 15th year, the free family event showcases some of the finest brass bands from Shropshire and the surrounding counties; this year there will also be a special guest band from Germany giving the festival an international flavour. With some 20 bands performing, it’s the largest, noncompetitive brass band festival in the country.

20 July 2019 FOOFIGHTERSGB AND UNREALBLOOD Theatre on the Steps Foo Fighters GB (formerly Foo 5ighters) was born from two and a half years' of incredibly hard work. Foo Fighters GB is a Midlands based Foo Fighters tribute established by Foo fans that decided they would be able to work hard and become the best. Rocco Italian Restaurant On a lovely summers evening after a very busy day in the office Luke and I were ready for something tasty to eat. We headed over to Rocco Restaurant based in the heart of Wolverhampton city centre. A spacious, well lit, inviting restaurant that seats 70 people and caters for all occasions with private dining downstairs. With fresh flowers and lovely set tables, this restaurant has a lovely home from home feel. We received a very warm welcome by Rocco himself and his wonderful staff and seated at a pretty candlelit table for two. With the sound of Italian music and the aroma of food in the air, we could not wait to see the menu. We were handed the menus and offered drinks. As it was a work night we stuck to water and a refreshing lemonade but if you fancied something different there is a variety of soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits and even champagne for that special occasion. We decided to try out Rocco’s set menu which is available Monday-Saturday 12pm-2:30PM & Monday-ursday 5PM-6:30PM. 1 Course £7.95, 2 Course £9.95, 3 Course £12.95. e set menu offers lovely selection of food; Starters from Zuppa Della Casa- Soup of the day to Pate Della Casa – served with toasted bread. Luke opted for Insalata Caprice – Buffalo Mozzarella, sweet tomatoes drizzled with a balsamic and olive oil vinaigrette salad. e tomatoes were juicy and fresh, the mozzarella a delight combined with the vinaigrette salad this truly was a delicious starter.

I opted for the Bruschetta Romano – Toasted Ciabatta with plum tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and fresh basil. is was the perfect starter for me; all of the ingredients truly complimented each other so well. We gazed around the restaurant, it was bustling with families and couples alike enjoying the atmosphere and of course the lovely food on oﬀer at Rocco Restaurant. I have to say the staﬀ are great; so friendly and attentive. ey can’t do enough for you and they are dressed very smart indeed. On to the mains, with choices for the set menu such as traditional spaghetti bolognaise; spaghetti with a rich sauce of minced beef, garlic, shallots oregano and basil to Lasagne Al Forno; layers of pasta in a rich bolognaise sauce, Parmesan, béchamel topped with Mozzarella. Luke chose the Fettuccine Con Pollo E Spinach – Flat pasta with a roasted chicken, baby spinach, baby plum tomatoes, shallots, white wine, creamy parmesan sauce. A delightful Italian dish, creamy, rich and delicious. My choice was

Cannelloni Con Ricotta E Spianch (V) - Tubes of pasta filled with ricotta mascarpone cheese, baby spinach topped with mozzarella, cream and tomato sauce. A decadent dish, infused with flavour with a side order of Spinach with Lemon and garlic. is worked well with my chosen dish. After a brief break, on to the desserts, Luke chose homemade Tiramisu, a rich classic Italian dish full of flavour. He thoroughly enjoyed this treat. I just had to have the Homemade cheesecake, smooth & delicious vanilla cheesecake with a crunchy biscuit base, served on its own or with cream. Delightful and tasty. Rocco have a main menu of many tantalising dishes including Anti Pasta, Manzo Con Rosmarino, Pan fried sirloin, with olive oil, shallots, demi glaze, rosemary, red wine reduction, Calamari Fritti; baby Squid coated in a tempura batter, deep fried, served with a touch of caper mayonnaise, on a bed of rocket salad and Panna Cotta; an exceptionally, light & luxurious vanilla cream dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top £3.95. e main menu had a fabulous choice with numerous dishes to suit every taste. Rocco Italian restaurant can cater for any occasions including corporate events. ey even have a champagne bar too!! Overall a delightful evening with attentive friend welldressed staff, that couldn’t do enough for you. e food was delightful and the team did an excellent job. Well done from e Hype magazine. Hip hip hooray! It’s the Summer Holidays! I know for a lot of parents the thought of 6 weeks with no school and the thought of keeping the ideas flowing on how to keep the kids occupied fills them with a little bit of dread. Luckily Shropshire has lots of attractions and activities, from sports and leisure to arts and education - there is literally something for everyone. Hoo Farm in Telford has everything from sheep to big cats - it’s a great day out for the whole family. The Edge Adventure in Much Wenlock has loads to offer including Segways, quad biking, archery, climbing wall and zip-line to name just a few! Hours of fun. If you fancy slowing down the pace, cast off and leave your cares behind with a boating break from ABC Boat Hire. See our beautiful countryside from a whole new perspective, sit back and relax as it drifts on by - perfect! Some of my favourite days out include a day at the beach at Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog or good old Barmouth, an afternoon at the award winning Telford Town Park, a drive over the Long Mynd in Church Stretton and a good old walk up the Wrekin - all of which are FREE! So when the kids ask that inevitable question ‘What are we doing today?’ you will never be short of options.

The main Quarry Marquee, which is non-competitive, is host to some of the top horticulturalists in the country. With more than 50 exhibitors vying for the top awards, with the standards being very high. The popularity of the Outside Show Gardens grows each year. Judging of the Quarry Marquee takes place on Thursday and will be completed before the evening drinks party provided for Members of the Society. The Show Gardens are judged on the Friday morning. Severn Marquee is home to the various societies, amateur growers plus Bees and Honey exhibitors. Competition is ﬁerce amongst the amateur growers who provide some wonderful displays. Judging takes place on Friday morning before the Show opens.

Dingle Marquee is home to the popular Floral Art Exhibitors, the WI and Ask the Expert. We also had a full and active Lecture Theatre and there is ‘Our Future Marquee’ which is of interest to both our older and younger visitors.

LET’S EAT. Garlic & Chilli Prawn Skewers row some prawns on the barbie this summer, with these super simple, super tasty garlic and chili prawns skewers...

rawns are one of my favourite things to cook on the barbecue. Here we have a simple recipe for plump and juicy marinated prawns for you to try. This is perfect for summer, served with rice and fresh salad and not forgetting some home-made Aioli.

1. Place the garlic, chilli, oil, lime juice, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl and whisk until well combined. Add the prawns and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2. Heat the barbecue grill to high. Remove prawns from marinade and thread onto metal or bamboo skewers. If you are using bamboo, make sure you soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes before threading the prawns on, to prevent burning whilst cooking. 3. Grill the prawn skewers for a couple of minutes on each side or until prawns are cooked through and golden. Serve with rice, salad, lime wedges and some of this tasty home-made garlic aioli.

TO MAKE THE HOME-MADE AIOLI... 1. Crush up the garlic with a teaspoon of salt, using a pestle and mortar if you have one, or if not you can just use the end of a rolling pin and a bowl instead.

e Ingredients For the skewers... 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 long red chilli, finely chopped 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons lime juice Salt and cracked black pepper 750g raw king prawns, peeled, deveined, with tails Lime wedges, to serve Salt flakes, to season Metal or bamboo skewers

For the Aioli... ½ small clove garlic , peeled 1 large free-range egg yolk 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 285 ml extra virgin olive oil 285 ml olive oil Lemon juice , to taste.

2. Place the egg yolk and mustard in a separate bowl and mix together with a whisk. Begin adding your oils a little bit at a time and once you have mixed in about a quarter of the oil, you can add the rest in larger amounts. When the mixture has thickened, you can go ahead and mix in the lemon juice.

3. Once all the oil has gone, add the garlic and ﬁnish oﬀ by seasoning to taste with salt, pepper and a bit more lemon juice, if you like.

AVOID ALCOHOL... Drinking alcohol is known to make the effects of pollen worse. This is due to it containing histamine - which is the very chemical which sets off our allergy symptoms. Avoiding alcohol can make quite a big difference when it comes to allergy symptoms, so ditch the drinks and stick to something softer or at least something low in alcohol during hay fever season.

With one in ﬁve people suﬀering with hay fever, it’s a very common problem. If you, like me, are one of them you will know just how miserable it can be. So knowing the ‘buzz’ about pollen and the treatments available, can help a lot. Symptoms of hay fever include:

Weed pollens tend to be about from the end of June, right through to the end of September. Knowing when you are likely to begin showing symptoms means you can be prepared and have treatments ready to tackle them before they strike.

CAN LOCAL HONEY HELP? It has long been thought that eating locally produced honey may help reduce your symptoms. There is no scientiﬁc evidence to back this theory up, but it is worth a shot - plus it tastes amazing! Swap out sugar in hot drinks for some local honey.

RUNNY NOSES... A runny nose can be a real pain. If you find your nose is itchy or runny - or both, is causing you problems, try an antiinflammatory steroid nasal spray. There are a few available but i have found Benacort’s Nasal Spray to be effective. It cost £10 and gives 120 sprays and gives lasting relief. On the other hand, congestion is also an issue (talk about can’t win!). For relief from congestion, sneezing and even runny noses, you could try Clarinaze Allergy

There's currently no cure for hay fever and you can't prevent it. But you can do things to ease your symptoms when the pollen count is high. From putting Vaseline

around your nostrils to trap pollen, to wearing wraparound sunglasses to stop pollen getting into your eyes, or even showering and changing your clothes after you've been outside to wash pollen oﬀ will all help. Keep windows and doors shut as much as possible and vacuum regularly and dust with a damp cloth.

Speak to your pharmacist about your hay fever symptoms, rather than heading straight to the doctors, as they can advise you on the best treatments for you, like antihistamine drops, tablets or nasal sprays, which will help with itchy, watery eyes, sneezing and runny noses.

Audi Q3 S Line A new outward appearance makes a bold and assertive statement appropriate to the needs of todays highways. It denotes class, composure and the classic credentials of a car carrying the interlinking halos of the Audi badge. In a word, 'Respect'. No other driver will dare to disparage the presence and dignity of a top table contender in the list of all time greats. If the exterior carries conviction, then the luxurious cabin exudes quality amounting to an object lesson in combining functionality with comfort, sense with style and technology with taste. Few cars in this class can come close to emulating this Audi package. As far as I'm concerned this amounts to an abundance of peerless gifts all signed, sealed and

delivered to the advantage of driver and passengers. On the ÂŁ33,260 S specification you get such luxuries as electrically adjustable front sports seats, a top sound system and every adjunct to comfort and efficiency that you are likely to need. Driving along in the Audi Q3 I fancied I knew something of the sensations that great Thespians might experience when striding forth on the boards delivering dramatic verse that enraptures a mesmerised audience. Far fetched? Perhaps. But some experiences really do transcend the communicative power of words - but I'll try to tell it as it was. The impression was of smoothness, quality and competence. A taut 'chassis' and well set

suspension give dynamic ability that is top level. A well controlled ride and an ability to hustle through bends without being unsettled shouts 'engineering quality'. This 1.5 litre 150 PS petrol version mated to a seven speed automatic gearbox and driving through the front wheels, will take you to near 130 mph yet return between 37mpg and 38 mpg overall - and polluting nastiness is low at 133g/km. The realisation dawned that in the end what matters most is not litres nor inches, boot space nor rubber, kilometres nor carbon dioxide. What matters is entirely dependent on subjectivity. In other words, it's right to want an Audi Q3 because... it's right to want an Audi Q3. So why is it right? Well, all you have to do is fill the car with family and friends, pets and parcels, suitcases and fuel and take to the road. Then you will discover exactly why the Audi Q3 is in fact a model for other manufacturers to attempt to emulate - even though such efforts, in the absence of that Audi badge, often teeter into vulgarity. Audi remains the class of the field and the Q3 the classiest SUV in its class.

Suer Motoring Problems... Common summer car problems to be aware of... BATTERY

Heat can aﬀect the health of your battery, accelerating corrosion and damaging the battery. Check the terminals on your battery for corrosion and get our garage to check the battery levels. Replace the battery if neccessary.

DON’T RUN ON EMPTY

Keeping a full tank of fuel is always a wise move. You never know when an emergency may pop up and there is nothing worse than having to find a petrol station before being able to tend to it. On long journeys it can be easy to find yourself running on empty. Top up well before you hit the red, it is just not worth risking breaking down on the side of the road. It is worth noting that you should not fill the tank to the brim, especially on hot days as like most liquids fuel will expand. This could cause fuel to leak out of the filler neck or the breather.

Summer is here, thank goodness. As our thoughts turn to road trips and loading up the car with all of our summer essentials, we can sometimes forget to take care to inspect our vehicles and check that they are as ready for the open road as we are. AIR-CONDITIONING

We all know how unpleasant it can be travelling in a vehicle with no air-con. Lack of air, excessive sweating and the urge to stick your head out of the window for a little bit of respite from the heat - please don’t do that, for as tempting it may seem its really dangerous! A better solution is to test your AC and ensure it is working before setting out on your travels. Make sure the blower motor is functioning properly and that the fuses responsible for the fan speed are not faulty. If your AC is not as ice cold as it once was, you may need a charge or there could even be a leak. Get your garage to check it for you - they can usually sort out these thing quite easily. TIP: Don’t use the air-con continuously, instead switch it oﬀ when the car is cool enough, and back on as and when you need to and don’t use it when the windows or doors are open.

CRACKED WINDSCREENS

Many of us have experienced a cracked or chipped windshield. These minor defects can result in much bigger problems should your summer road trip take you down gravel country roads, as a fast moving chipping or stone hitting a damaged windshield can result in a more serious accident or even injury. If you have a chipped windscreen you should have it repaired as soon as possible (some insurances will cover you for damaged winscreens so check your policy). It may have to be replaced completely if the damage is too bad - either way it is better to be safe rather than sorry.
