Pathways In the United Kingdom, the governing body who accredit and recognize health and fitness qualifications is REPS. As a result, specialist training organizations offer accredited qualifications in the Health and Fitness industry, thus providing opportunities for careers and future development of specialist skills for individuals and companies. The structure of qualifications currently involve entry courses at level 2 status, with either Gym Instructor or Exercise to Music Instructor the starting point for a career in fitness. Therefore, once a person is certified in one of the above, they are now eligible to work in a position within the fitness industry. For future development there are numerous professional courses available at level 2 status, with some employees having courses funded directly by their employer. To progress further and work on a self employed basis, the industry awards at Level 3 status are a natural progression to work independently as a Personal Trainer. Fitness Level 2
