Creating the shape Due to the low hanging sun of northern China, there is a necessity of obtaining natural light wherever possible - the twistness of the design aids in the strategic positioning of the skylights, allowing for enough internal natural to be diffused throughout the building and mainly in internal rooms, such as the exhibition spaces in the basement.

Creating the shape Inspired by a twisted piece of wood, the design incorporated the continuity of the shape throughout the building - inside and out which allowed for uniterrupted ciruclation spaces between the exhibition spaces.
