The summer holidays seem to have flown by and September is already upon us... how did that happen? This month, on pages 24 and 25, Cheryl Cade reveals her newlydiscovered authentic Turkish and Indian restaurants in the local area. Disclaimer: do not read whilst feeling hungry! On pages 16 and 17, read an interview with Norfolk's favourite Zumba instructor, Rachel Evans, who recently became the world's first Zumba Gold jammer and enthused many at July's Zumba Convention in Orlando, USA. Also, be sure to read about Tom and Becca, from 'See What Mummy Says', spending time away from their children on pages 28 and 29. Did they feel guilty about or cherish their alone time?

Issue 65 2018
The Benjamin Foundation The Benjamin Foundation is a local charity offering hope, opportunity, stability and independence to children, young people and families. Working to prevent youth homelessness We want to end youth homelessness and we’re tackling the problem locally by providing a home and support to over 100 vulnerable young adults every night. We have accommodation centres across Norfolk where young people aged 16 to 25 live with us. We also have a network of Hosts, who are trained and supported by us to look after a young person in the Host’s own home. We call this service ‘Heart and Home.’
Not only do we provide young people with stability, but we give them the support they need so they can leave us and forge an independent life. We help them with important life skills, such as cooking, shopping and budgeting, as well as supporting their training, education and career with the help of our Job Coach.
This helps to keep vulnerable young adults off the streets and prevents the local homelessness problem from growing.

Local Producer's Marmalade Wins Great Taste Awards
Norfolk producer, Ollands Farm Foods, is celebrating success at the prestigious Great Taste Awards 2018 after two of their marmalades have been recognised. This year, their King Harry Marmalade and Norfolk Saffron Marmalade both received one of the coveted stars. Over 12,600 products were judged by more than 500 of the most demanding palates in the industry including MasterChef 2018 winner, Kenny Tutt; chef and food writer, Elly Curshen; and author and blogger Izy Hossack. Food buyers from Harrods, Selfridges and Sourced Market also took part in the blind tasting. The Great Taste Awards have been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world, celebrating the very best in food and drink. So, winning a star is quite the accolade. Acting as a seal of approval, a gold star from the Great Taste Awards sets these Norfolk marmalade apart from the rest. “We are delighted that our marmalades have been accredited once again at the Great Taste Awards!” comments Ollands’ owner, Mary Ann Stuart. Ollands are building up their collection of Great Taste Awards; last year, the Happisburghbased producers received two stars for their Seville Orange Marmalade. This year’s wins are particularly special as both the Norfolk Saffron Marmalade and King Harry Marmalade are part of the new Connoisseur Collection, launched earlier this year.
The new collection is proving a triumph, with the Great Taste Awards following hot on the heels of bronze awards for both marmalades at the World’s Original Marmalade Awards 2018. Mary Ann continues: “We are proud to be representing local Norfolk produce in the Great Taste Awards. We work hard to get the perfect product by making small batches at a time from our kitchen, so getting recognition for our marmalades is wonderful.” Ollands have collaborated with local grower Norfolk Saffron to create their latest awardwinning marmalades, proudly celebrating and supporting the Norfolk food and drink scene. Mary Ann explains: “Quality is important to us, so we work with the very best, local ingredients wherever possible. Norfolk Saffron have proven that their product is just that. Their saffron is graded 1 which is the best international grade available.” The Norfolk Saffron Marmalade is described as a rich and unique lemon and orange marmalade infused with Saffron. King Harry marmalade is a lemon and orange-based marmalade made with Norfolk Saffron’s King Harry Liqueur. Ollands Farm Foods products can be found at several farm shops across Norfolk, and at selected farmers’ markets. You can also order online. ‘Get Up And Go Yellow’ For East Anglian Air Ambulance This National Air Ambulance Week
East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is asking the public to help them celebrate National Air Ambulance Week (10-16 September) by taking part in their ‘Get Up and Go Yellow’ fundraising day on Thursday 13th September. The charity wanted to host a day that anyone could get involved with anywhere at any time, and came up with the idea to donate and go yellow. Everyone can take part, either alone or with friends, family, work colleagues, schools, groups or whoever you want to get involved. All you need to do is get up and wear, bake, make, create and go yellow in homage to the charity’s yellow helicopter. You could have a wear it yellow to work day (with your boss’ permission of course), bake some yellow cakes, hold a yellow raffle, guess the number of yellow sweets in the jar, decorate your desk yellow and so much more. EAAA is a charity providing a life-saving helicopter emergency medical service for the people of East Anglia. Each of their crews consists of two pilots, one doctor and a critical care paramedic. The crew take advanced critical care directly to patients who have suffered life-threatening or life-changing accidents or medical emergencies.
Head of Community Fundraising, Stuart Wyle, said: “This is a new initiative for us, and we really wanted to host something that would celebrate National Air Ambulance Week, but also EAAA as a charity, and we thought what better way than to turn as many people as possible across the region yellow, the colour of our wonderful H145 helicopter. We can’t wait to see all the creative ways people think of to go yellow and raise funds. All the money donated from the day will go towards helping us save lives across the region. Without your support, we can’t do what we do.” How can you get involved? Simply go to the charity’s website: www.eaaa.org.uk/yellow to find lots of helpful tips and advice on how you and your friends can go yellow, order a fundraising pack or poster, or even a totalizer to show how much money you have raised. The charity is also encouraging lots of photos and social media interaction to make the day a fantastic celebration. If you’d like to find out more about the charity or how you can help out and get involved, go to their website: www.eaaa.org.uk. PAGE

Two In Five East Of England Residents Unaware Of This Life-Threatening Risk In Their Own Home •
40% of East of England consumers don’t realise that meter cheating causes fatal fires and explosions
•
The practice causes at least one death or injury every 10 days
•
Only 46% of people would report energy theft because of the safety risk highlighting a shortfall in public understanding
Two in five (40%) East of England residents are unaware that energy theft - or meter cheating - can cause a serious and potentially life-threatening risk to their safety. Meter cheating causes at least one injury or death every 10 days in the UK. The practice occurs when somebody illegally tampers with, or completely bypasses, their
electricity or gas meter so it doesn’t properly record usage, meaning they can avoid paying for some or all of their supply. Even one incident of meter tampering poses a serious threat to public safety, leaving consumers with unsafe gas and electrical supplies, which in turn can put them at risk of electric shocks, fires, and even explosions in extreme cases.

Issue 65 2018
Around a quarter (26%) of East of England residents stated they are not aware that energy theft can lead to fires, with nearly a third (29%) not knowing that meter cheating can cause electric shocks. Perhaps even more concerningly, a further 45% of people in the East of England do not appreciate the risks of gas explosions which could occur at home or even in a public building such as a shop or restaurant. Moreover, when asked what their main reason would be for reporting an incident of energy theft, only 46% of people stated it would be due to the safety risk. This is a relatively low figure given the seriousness of the potential issues caused, pointing to a need for further education amongst the general public. Many consumers may think that meter cheating is a ‘victimless crime’, as perpetrators are only stealing power from large companies that can afford it. However, the potential cost to lives is enormous. The study was commissioned by outsourced utility collections specialists Echo Managed Services and Grosvenor Services Group, and endorsed by Crimestoppers UK. It surveyed 2,000 UK residents and found worryingly low levels of awareness with regards to the practice of energy theft. Lloyd Birkhead, managing director of Grosvenor Services Group, said: “Given that the consequences of energy theft can be potentially life threatening, it’s concerning that such a large proportion of the nation has no comprehension of the dangers they may face due to the actions of others in the community. “One reason for such low awareness may be that reporting of the most serious real incidences of energy theft is relatively low, meaning that general media coverage is also low as a consequence. Gas explosions, for example, are not always reported as being as a result of a tampered meter, although highly suspected, unless 100% proven.
“People need to ultimately understand that this is not a victimless crime, but that they, their families and their friends could be in serious danger if meter cheating isn’t stamped out.” Roger Critchell, director of operations at Crimestoppers UK, which runs ‘Stay Energy Safe’, a free helpline for people to anonymously report energy theft, said: “Meter cheating costs lives. However, given that it is under reported, it’s understandable that dangers of this crime are not fully understood by members of the public in the East of England. “Stay Energy Safe was setup to allow people to give information about energy crimes anonymously, but also to educate them on the potentially devastating consequences if it goes unreported. We hope that through this service, the public can have a significant impact on tackling this issue, which will help to improve the safety of people within their homes.” Would you know how to spot the signs of meter cheating? Q
&A
WITH RACHEL EVANS Credit: Georgie Smith
Local fitness instructor and This Girl Can ambassador Fresh from Florida, local fitness instructor and This Girl Can ambassador (she wears many other hats too!), Rachel Evans, takes time out to answer questions about her time at convention, her recent achievements and her love for Zumba Fitness® and Zumba Gold®. Q: It sounds like you’re having an exciting time at work at the moment. Tell us about it… A: I've recently returned from Zincon in Orlando. The Zumba® Convention attracts 7000 Instructors from around the Globe for a 4 day event full of educational sessions and exciting Masterclasses by the top names in Zumba. In April, I received a FaceTime call from one of the creators of the Zumba Gold® Programme asking me if I would help launch a new style of
speciality training session at the Convention. I completed the training in record time and it took 12 weeks to prepare the 3 hour Zumba Gold® Jam session where I taught over 130 Instructors from all over the World 4 of my choreographies to take back to their own classes. I am indeed the world's first Zumba Gold® Jammer and I presented the world's first Zumba Gold® Jam! It's a huge honour and I'm very proud to say that my session was rated very highly by those that attended. Q: What are Zumba Fitness® and Zumba Gold ® all about? A: Zumba Fitness® is the original high intensity Latin-inspired dance fitness class. It includes high impact moves (although students don't have to jump) and faster paced music.

Q&A WITH...

Zumba Gold® was developed years ago by two incredible women Joy Prouty (a former Rockette) and Josie Gardiner a fitness guru who helped develop Step Reebok. They aimed this speciality class at active older adults. However, nowadays we promote to a much wider audience as it is suitable for beginners, those recovering from illness or injury or those starting out or returning on their journey to fitness: low impact, lower intensity and super simple choreography. Q: Did you always want to do this kind of work? A: Yes! At 21 I discovered an instant love for any group exercise class step or aerobics. At 24 I signed up to a YMCA Exercise to Music course then I found I was pregnant with my first child. I cancelled and 18 years and 3 kids later I took that course equivalent! It was definitely my destiny!

and co-organised a 400 strong breast cancer awareness Flash Mob and this year I became the World's first Zumba Gold® Jammer. It doesn't get better than this! I'm happy to focus on my own classes and students for without them I would be nothing. I owe them everything. Q: There’s probably someone sitting at home reading this thinking they’d love to try Zumba Fitness or Zumba Gold. What’s your advice to them? A: Go try a class; Zumba is for everyone! It's exercise in disguise and for most people this is exactly what we like. Don't be nervous; people in classes are very friendly and supportive.
Q: What’s the best part of your job? A: So many amazing parts to this job: seeing people connect and engage; people coming to life as they become more confident in class is incredible; seeing the support network people start to build in Team Rachel. My students are never alone; they have me and the rest of the team. Q: What about the worst? A: Trying not to put myself under too much pressure to keep constantly producing new choreography sometimes people just want their old favourite tracks in class! I take my responsibility to my students very seriously indeed and I have a burning desire to improve myself to give my students the best experience possible each class. Q: You’ve basically achieved one of the highest accolades a Zumba instructor can… what’s next for you? A: In the past 3 years at 3 Conventions, I have received the only Zumba Love Award in existence, awarded by the CEO of Zumba Alberto Pearlman, for all Team Rachel's charity work and breast cancer awareness Flashmob. At the 2017 Zincon, I choreographed

TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Issue 65 2018
e h T e k a T e r u s Pres d n A Off d a e h A n a l P Life doesn't tend to run smoothly, with a measured, evenly-spaced flow of demands and expectations. For business people, it's often a feast or famine situation, with several orders, customers and meetings to attend, frequently followed by a disconcerting lull. Parents may have child-related fairs, festivals and parents’ evenings in their diaries as well as having to juggle the other areas of their lives. Plus, social invitations have a habit of occurring like buses, none for ages then six arriving all at once! At those times, something has to give. Whilst we may have lots to do, there's also a need for us to manage stress, look after ourselves, take the pressure off and plan ahead. • Anticipate the busy times. You may be able to forecast when a busy period is likely to occur;
it may be around holiday time, Christmas, before the school term starts or when the universities resume. You may not always guess correctly, but it's helpful to prepare for an influx of different demands. It may be useful to enlist help. Taking on an apprentice or forming alliances with complementary businesses may help you manage stress and take some pressure off as you support each other during those busy times. Or outsource some domestic chores or those business tasks outside your specific skill set. It could be money well spent. It may be appropriate to manage stress by sometimes declining work which you suspect could become excessively draining and demanding. It might be tempting to say 'yes', but it's not always viable to accept every offer of work that comes your way. In quieter periods it may be fun, interesting and challenging to have a go and learn new skills, but it's important to pick your time well. That's where networking,

making connections and getting to know local people in similar fields can become a win/win relationship for all over time. • Plan for your health. Batch cooking so you have healthy food ready to go can stop you reaching for the take-away menu or pre-chilled dinners. When you're extra-busy is precisely the time when good nutritious food is especially important. There may be merit in sometimes declining invitations so that you go to bed a little earlier, rather than regularly collapsing exhausted in the early hours, mind racing, wondering why sleep is so elusive.
Issue 65 2018
afterwards, doing something different, making new friendships and keeping yourself busy. Plan for alone time by turning it into a special indulgent time. Take the pressure off and claim that time for yourself. Buy your favourite foods, organise your reading, music or viewing. Decide to have a lovely, relaxing, candle-lit bath, put clean sheets on the bed, have a treat of 'me-time' on your own.
Remember to allow yourself time for fun, exercise and your important relationships. Take breaks to manage stress and have personal time. You'll return to work feeling better, often with clearer thinking. Cosset yourself regularly. Investing in your health and wellbeing will enable you to continue performing at your best.
• Plan ahead for studying or a heavy workload. If there's a period when you need to focus and really concentrate on work or a specific project, you can take the pressure off by planning ahead. Identify what's urgent, important and what can wait until another time. A timetable can help you focus, but you need to stick with it! Use those deadlines as a useful way to measure what you've done and how much more there is yet to do. A little forward planning can put you firmly in control.
• Anticipate the lonely times. Take the pressure off and plan ahead for when you'll potentially be bereft, alone and feeling unloved. Find out what's happening locally, maybe register on mailing lists and suggest outings to friends, neighbours and colleagues. Often free or special offers can be found for shows, concerts and restaurants.
Being accountable may seem like a pressure situation, but used well, having to answer to another person can be constructive. It can keep you on track by refusing to allow you to go off course or become distracted. Knowing you have to check in regularly can keep you in the zone, clear about your immediate commitments and aware of each stage of the journey.
Make and accept invitations, even if they sometimes take you out of your comfort zone. It's okay to scare yourself a little from time to time! And think how proud you'll feel
Taking time to plan and clarify your next steps can be time well spent, enabling you to feel more in control and less pressurised as a consequence.

The Diary of a Norfolk Family By Mark King July was an absolutely stunning month weatherwise for our area and as it carried on into early August, I must admit it was glorious, but beginning to take its toll on me. Don’t get me wrong, if I Above: Mark King could I would decamp to the hotter climates of the Mediterranean during our colder, darker winter months. But there is always a but in life and during these long and very hot days, and nights, I have been training hard for the Run Norwich 10K road race, and the heat began to become my enemy number one. It would have been mad to take long runs between the hours of 10.00 and 18.00 during the recent heatwave (although I did see some crazy people running at midday as the temperatures were hitting thirty plus) and for me it meant having to get up earlier and earlier with every increase in degree of heat. I tried running later in the day, but found it still very hot and I would get home sweating and looking as if I had been for a swim in the river Yare. I found the best time to run was at seven in the morning, so I
would set the alarm for five forty five to give me time to wake up with a large cup of coffee, and complete my stretching exercises. Leading up to Run Norwich 2018, I kept checking the advanced weather forecast and found for the first time in my life getting a little bit despondent with the constant wall to wall sunshine that was forecast for the Sunday of the race. I have completed the Run Norwich 10K before so I knew I could do it, but not in such heat. It absolutely zaps your strength when you run in anything above twenty one degrees, and can be very dangerous, even a killer, when it hits thirty and above. It was a struggle once you had reached the five kilometre marker due to the heat, and lots of runners were already having to take walking breaks, but I kept on going because of the simple reason I had my family there watching and cheering me on at different points along the route and I just did not want to fail in front of them. Now I’ve signed up for the Marriott’s Way 10K, held in the autumn, and I do hope with the cooler climate then to be able to beat my personal best. www.always-hanging-around.blogspot.com Follow on twitter: @author_king

My Favourite Season...
Above: Keri Beevis
My favourite season hands down - is summer. I adore the light late nights, summer flowers, the hum of lawnmowers that leave the scent of freshly cut grass, the lush green of leaves on the trees, feeling the warmth of the sun against my skin, even that glorious earthy smell of summer rain.
And it’s been a corker of a summer this year; perhaps even a little too warm at times. This year holds some wonderful summer memories for me, from travelling to London to see my favourite band, Foo Fighters, on one of the hottest days in June to my trips to the North Norfolk coastline, as research for my new novel. After setting my first three books stateside, I decided it was time to situate one closer to home and locations featured so far are my beloved home city, Norwich (naturally); pretty Filby with its colourful floral displays; tourist favourite, Cromer; Cley-next-the-Sea with its imposing church and much photographed windmill; and the hauntingly beautiful Burnham Overy Staithe. The end of summer for me is my birthday, which falls in the last week of August. By then I am aware of the slightly cooler mornings and the sun setting
earlier. But that’s okay, because I have learnt to love September too. My last novel, The Darkness Beneath, is set during this period, with my protagonist, Nell, returning to the island where she spent much of her childhood as summer draws its last breath. The time of the year was important to the story, the warmth gradually fading, the evenings starting to draw in, as the bustle of tourists return to the mainland and the trees shed their leaves in preparation for winter. The atmosphere slowly takes on a more sinister edge as Nell moves into the rundown guesthouse she has inherited and, after a few unsettling incidents, begins to realise someone doesn’t want her back on the island. I used to hate this time of year, knowing I would have a long wait for summer to come around again, but having written about it, living on the island through characters that became so dear to me, this year I am embracing it and looking for all the positives. The cooler longer nights are conducive to a better night’s sleep; big sweaters, PJs, fluffy socks and my super soft and cosy dressing gown can all make an appearance, and there is no denying that autumn is a beautiful season painted in striking shades of orange, gold, red and plum. Oh, and of course we are just a few months away from C… Just kidding. The shops may be preparing, but I’m not ready for sleigh bells yet. PAGE

Beers Of Europe - 1st In The UK To Stock Oktoberfest Beers! The world’s biggest beer festival arrives at Beers of Europe From Munich, Germany to Norfolk, England… Every year, 6 million people flock to the fields outside Munich to enjoy the world’s biggest beer festival Oktoberfest, which was first held in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Munich’s most popular breweries produce a special Oktoberfest beer for the event, which is scarcely available in the UK. Whilst the festival doesn’t start until the 22nd of September, the beers have already arrived to Beers of Europe, Britain’s Biggest Online Beer Retailer, making them the first place in the country to stock the sought-after Munich beers. Speaking just after the Oktoberfest beers arrived this morning at their warehouse in Setchey, just outside King’s Lynn, Procurement Manager Matthew Keeley-Smith said: “Going to the festival is a great experience, but not everyone can make the journey to Bavaria. Beers of Europe gives you the next best thing, you can get the chance to buy and taste the beer and we are the first to stock it in the UK. Nowhere else in the country have the Oktoberfest beers been delivered earlier than Beers of Europe and that is credit to the great relationship we have built over the years with our suppliers. Being able to deliver across the country in quick fashion means our customers get a taste before
anyone else and that equates to plenty of happy beer- drinkers”. Beers of Europe have the Oktoberfest beers from five of the six biggest Munich breweries: Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräuhaus, Löwenbräu, Paulaner and Spaten. The beers will be available in several formats, including a mixed 12 box, a mixed 24 box, 2 bottles with a stein as well as on their own. The beers are seasonal and will likely only be in stock until December. The sheer amount of customer requests for the return of Oktoberfest is the driving force for its prompt arrival and Beers of Europe look forward to a successful festival season. www.beersofeurope.co.uk/catalogsearch/ result/?cat=0&q=oktoberfest Beers of Europe is a family run business based in Setchey, just outside King’s Lynn. Since 2000, the Clark family have built up a range of over 5000 products, including beers, ciders, wines, spirits and much more from all over the world. If you don’t have the chance to visit the shop in person, then you can view all things Oktoberfest, as well as the entire range of weird and wonderful products online at www.beersofeurope.co.uk PAGE

Nibbles &Tipples September Article By Cheryl Cade Have you ever brought home a bottle of wine or some food from a holiday, raved to all of your friends about how great it is and then, in your own home find yourself staring at it, wondering if you picked up the wrong one?
Part of this is down to the atmosphere and mood you were in at the time as well as the taste of the food.
I have this with Turkish and Indian foods; nothing every tastes the same as when I tasted it listening to gentle waves lapping the beach. Until now... but here though I hit a quandary... do I tell you about what I have found? I have found in food, a small piece of both countries. Both places

hide themselves in their open fronts, with none of the usual fake decor to make your senses to think you are in these distant countries, yet the food!
I have tantalised you enough, for a long time I have walked past The Mediterranean Bar & Restaurant on Magdalen Street, each time thinking, one day.
Well the day came to pass, and I will be going back as soon as I can. I recall eating Pide (a type of pizza) on market day in Fethiye; the taste was fresh herbs with a warm soft base. For the first time ever, I have found Pide that matches this memory (although their fresh bread is just great! I could not stop eating it). The starter of stuffed vine leaves had a freshness from the mint that matched the homemade spicy sauce perfectly. My husband loved the sauce so much we had to order

more to accompany his chicken kebab. There is another reason to go back; not just the food, I am tantalised by the wine list. The range of Turkish wines looks very good and if the food triggers the great memories it has then, what will the wine do? The second place I am going to suggest as worth a trip is somewhere I visited for my sister’s birthday. On the high street in Gorleston, across from the library, is the Bangla Nights. Again, from the outside it looks like any restaurant, clean and friendly.
Issue 65 2018
It was good to be given clean menus and a welcoming drink (I don’t know why clean menus are an issue). Even though the restaurant had a couple of large parties in, the staff were there when ever needed. The menu had all the normal selections and a few I had not tried before. I expected the regular tastes, familiar and not totally fresh. I had been told to expect a good meal, I prepared to be disappointed, as I was with the Tamarind, in Blofield. At no point was that visit ‘fine dining’, expensive, but not fine and not worth the journey. Bangla Nights did not disappoint! The food was spot on, good balances of spice and heat. The last time I have had an Indian that good was the Merchants of Spice on Colegate in Norwich. Tipple wise, all I can say is there are going to be some great surprises at Norwich Beer Festival this October 22-27th. The orders are in. Cheers Cheryl Cade

Norfolk Mums On A Mission Mission 1: PT Sessions at Happy Sports and Fitness As our first mission draws to a close, it seems almost bittersweet: a relief that we won’t be working our bodies quite so hard (not for a little while anyway!), but also disappointing as, in spite of the effort PT sessions take, we really quite enjoyed that feeling! Let's tell you about our latest sessions and then we will reveal our all-important scores! I think Mike was breaking us in gently (he said the first session was really all about seeing where we were currently at, fitness-wise); he certainly pushed us a lot harder at subsequent
training. One week, we did a series of fitness tests, pushing ourselves to the limit. The bleep test: perhaps the most feared PE lesson at high school. One of us hadn’t ever encountered the bleep test; one of us hadn’t done it since school; the final one of us hadn’t done it since she was at least two stone lighter… but we all gave it a good go. I had forgotten how much my chest burns when I sprint (I run regularly, but at a steady pace) and how much the bleep noise haunts me in my dreams after failing to do as well as I want to! In addition to this, we also planked for as long as possible; did as many

bicep curls as we could (read on for the impact of that exercise…); stepped as many times onto the bench as we could in two minutes; and several other sweat-inducing tests. This is the week that DOMS really attacked us and we struggled to move ‘normally’ for days. One of the most amusing messages received during our chats was “I can’t straighten my arms; apparently, I’m a T-Rex!” (bicep curls you nearly finished me!). Now if you’ve ever watched one of those extreme weight loss programmes on television, you’ll no doubt have seen people tyre flipping! “I can’t wait to flip that tyre!” we declared on our very first session at Mike’s house/garden of fitness! A few weeks later and we had the opportunity to do just that… it was so challenging. We worked in pairs to flip the tyre backwards and forwards through a certain distance. Ouch!
Doing it against the clock pushed us even harder and it definitely worked lots of muscles (and contributed to DOMS!). Each session we took part in allowed us to take part in some cardio (usually short bursts) and then strength work focusing on three areas: arms, legs and core. With everything in life, you get out what you put in… we could have chosen to go into training half-heartedly, but we didn’t. Every week, we gave it our all; spurred on by Mike’s supportive and encouraging ways. I think it’s also safe to say that going through this journey together really helped; we found one another’s support invaluable and Mike’s way of training us ignited the competitive spirit in us all! In spite of having a variety of fitness goals between us, we did all manage to lose some weight and also tone (so the tape measure says anyway!).

Tim Recently, we had the opportunity to spend a weekend away with friends, but without the children. The idea felt very strange at first as we’ve only left them a couple of times, and only for one night at a time. We’ve always wanted to include them in everything we do, whether it be a trip away, going out to a restaurant or visiting friends. Becca says… Recently I’ve felt like I could do with a little time away from the little ones. I work from home, and with Tom working shifts, it’s often difficult to enjoy time as a couple, so when the chance arose, we decided to make the most of it. As much as I love our children, as the day got closer (which we booked 5 months in advance) I
was getting more and more excited… and more and more nervous. I was excited to have some time without packing up all the essentials which you need for even the smallest trip: change bag, sun cream, snacks, changes of clothes, pushchair…and the list goes on! We don’t really have much time for us anymore and whilst ‘us’ extends to the four of us, it still began with the two of us and I think it’s nice to make some time for that. The kiddies were super excited, and when it was time to drop them off, they happily obliged with nothing more than a wave and a quick bye whilst facing in the opposite direction! I, on the other hand, chased them down for a cuddle and a kiss and we drove off leaving them waving and smiling behind us.

I thought about them quite a bit, but nowhere near as much as I thought I was going to. We actually had a cuddle without a child scrambling to get between us and for those two days it was lovely to have some ‘us’ time. Equally, however, it was lovely driving home on the Sunday and giving them a huge cuddle and kiss to hear all about their weekend… and enjoy some family time! Tom Says… I feel guilty talking about how much I enjoyed our weekend away, but it wasn’t because it was time away from the kids that I enjoyed it so much but because it was time spent with my wife: the person that started this incredible journey! It was very refreshing, however, getting ready to leave each morning! Both of us managed to brush our teeth without reminders, there were no lost shoes and no arguments of “He looked at me!”. We were ready to leave in record breaking time, and had barely anything to carry around! It’s incredible how many times you check that both children are present, or that you have everything you need for the day! Much like a hobby, time away is something that’s often neglected when you have a family, but it’s definitely worth the effort. You appreciate them so much more when you video call them, and give them that first cuddle when you get back! …and don’t forget, you’re not the only ones having an adventure when you’re away! Do you spend time away from the children? We’d love to know your thoughts! Thanks for reading! Tom & Becca www.seewhatmummysays.com @whatmummysaysuk PAGE

September At Nova Silver As the holidays finish, it’s back to school for the children and back to work for most! We have had a spectacular summer and now it’s time to look ahead and step into another season change. The nights will become darker, the weather cooler and the plants and trees will make their change too. It can be a beautiful time of year and at Nova Silver, we always welcome each season with a positive attitude and see it as another fresh start and opportunity to do well. We try to match our window display to the appropriate colours and themes so look out for golden orange amber, rich carnelian, deep garnet and warm citrine to reflect to glorious leaf changes we see in the trees. We always display our birthstone and interestingly, for September, Nova’s stone of choice is Blue Topaz. Topaz is found in a few different colours and is a mellow, empathetic stone that directs energy to where it is needed most. It promotes truth and forgiveness and has traditionally been known as the stone of love! We have been on the receiving end of some really lovely feedback from our customers recently. At Nova Silver, we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and we hope all our customers enjoy their shopping experience with us. We take pride in our knowledge and skills, friendliness and care and will always try to help with whatever you may need. It gives us a real boost knowing that people appreciate us and all we do, so thank you to all our lovely, loyal customers that keep our small, local business afloat. Without you, we wouldn’t still be thriving! We hope to see some of you soon, especially as we will be hosting our own Coffee Morning on Friday 28th September in aid of Macmillan Cancer research. It is the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Last year alone they raised over £27 million and together we can make this another successful year. So please come along, buy a cake or simply just make a donation to this wonderful cause.

MOTORING REVIEW

Issue 65 2018
New Range Rover Sport PHEV (2018-) Reviewed By Tim Barnes-Clay, Motoring journalist - tweeting @carwriteups Electric and hybrid cars are all the rage, so to make sure it’s not missing out on this shift towards ‘greener’ motoring, Land Rover has got in on the act. It’s had to really, as the brand is revered by many and, as a result, it is perhaps expected to lead by example. As well as the launch of Range Rover model plug-ins, the British marque has ushered in the 2018 Range Rover Sport PHEV. Like its larger sibling, the Sport has a P400e badge stuck on it. The letters and numbers represent the blend of electric and petrol propulsion, and the clout on offer, which is just over 400 PS. The power is produced from a 300 PS 2.0-litre four-cylinder powerplant and an electric motor producing 85kW. The electric shot in the arm means the Range Rover Sport PHEV is capable
of a claimed 101mpg. But even more significant is the CO2 figure of 64g/km and the savings that brings for company car users. Behind the wheel, the Sport is sprightly and hushed around town on pure electric power. You can squeeze up to 31 miles out of the SUV before the electric charge runs out. But it only takes 2 hours 45 minutes to refill the battery cells with a fast charger. If you haven’t got access to one of those, then it takes almost a day’s work in the office (seven and a half hours) to replenish with a 10-amp standard charger. Still, that's okay if you don't live far from work, and you're determined to drive in electric-only mode. Plug in at 9 am, and by 4.30pm your car will be ready to rock again. Alas, the added bulk of the plug-in unit means the combustion engine needs to work hard - and it’s not the most polished powerplant.

MOTORING REVIEW Issue 65 2018
Therefore, when you put the pedal to the metal, the cry of the engine seems out of place with the opulent environment of the vehicle. Mind you, considering the Range Rover P400e Sport is a big SUV, it still manages to offer a decent mix of dexterity and ride comfort. The six-speed auto ‘box is slick, and the 4x4 system makes light work of non-blacktopped terrain. Looks-wise, the 2018 model year Sport is softer on the outside, and Land Rover has given it some fetching LED headlights. Inside, the car is roomy and attractive with a new, intuitive, double-screen infotainment system. What’s more, if you like playing with gadgets, you’ll spend ages waving your hand backwards and forwards to operate the panoramic roof's sunblind automatically. Compared with the rest of the line-up, the 2018 Range Rover Sport PHEV costs more than a diesel-powered 3.0-litre V6. That’s fine if you use the electric mode around town a lot, and if you want to save tax. However, if you munch motorway miles regularly, then you may still be better off with the oil-burner. Pros ‘n’ Cons • Attractive ✔ • Comfortable ✔ • Efficient ✔ • Quick ✔ • Pricey ✘ Fast Facts (Range Rover Sport 2.0L Si4 PHEV Autobiography Dynamic as tested) • Max speed: 137 mph • 0-60 mph: 6.3 secs • Combined mpg: 101 • Engine layout: 85kW electric motor + 2.0-litre petrol • Max. power (PS): 404 • CO2: 64 g/km • Price: £84,400 PAGE

Issue 65 2018
It’s All In A Name! To quote a rather famous Jedi Master “Choose wisely, you must” and Yoda’s right. Getting your username right is really important across the social platforms. So why is it important? When you’re starting any business you think long and hard about your business name, then you might also consider your website’s domain name - as you really want that to be memorable and obvious. Well, social media usernames are equally important and in some ways they might be the first exposure your business might have to its prospective customers. Try to ensure that your business name, domain name and usernames are consistent and memorable. There are varying character limitations depending on the social platform, so if you can’t have exactly the same, get as close as you can. Just try to avoid infringing on another
brand’s usernames as this could in fact be a hindrance if they’re in a different marketplace to yourself, as your customers could become confused as to which business you actually are, and you might leave yourself open to legal action! If you’ve a name that looks visually cluttered, consider starting each word with a capital letter. For instance ‘SweetSensations’ is better than ‘sweetssensations’. It’s much easier to read and therefore more memorable to a potential customer or visitor. Try to avoid using unusual characters like underscores or dashes as these are not instantly memorable or quick to access on a smartphone - although many users do use these, myself included. It’s more likely a potential customer

will not think to add these characters into a search and are more likely to attempt to find you as your business name without special characters. For instance ‘icenimagazine’ is much better than ‘iceni-magazine’. If you have been using these special characters in your username don’t panic, because as long as your account name is based on your business name (and it really should be!) then a ‘People’ search in a social platform would still find you. There’s a number of sites out there that’ll see if your preferred username has already been taken, one of these is https://namechk.com/ Just type in your username and it’ll search a multitude of social platforms and display a ‘green’ result for those platforms it’s still available on or a ‘grey’ result if it’s already taken. This can save a bit of time before you get to sign up to your new social platform. Don’t get these sites to register your username though - you’re best to do this yourself, they’re just handy for quick searches. Most social platforms will allow you to change your username (assuming it’s not already taken). Both Twitter & Instagram among others allow you to do this but, be warned, if you change your existing username there’s a few things to be aware of: • Make sure you notify your existing users that you’re changing your username, so they’ll be able to find you quickly and not be confused by the sudden change - particularly important if you’re also changing your profile image!
So, if you’ve got an existing username and it’s working, you’re probably best to leave it as it is.
• Be aware that if you’ve used this or referenced this in other social platforms, email footers, third-party apps or printed materials, you need to change this too and sometime this just isn’t possible.
♦ Be consistent across all media and platforms
Realistically, we don’t normally change our existing username (it’s a bit like changing Gas or Electric suppliers) due to some of the historical references that probably can’t be changed and which would then result in you not being found.
If you need help managing your social media please get in touch with me at http://paulkirkdesign.co.uk or at @PKirk_designer
Whatever you’re considering for a new username, just remember a few simple rules:
♦ Make it intuitive and easy for customers to remember ♦ Avoid brand confusion by doing your research

brushless motors powerful enough to steady our mobile phones.
This high-end equipment costs many thousands of pounds and thus kept it well out the reach of hobbyists or home users, or so we thought!
As a commercial drone pilot, I have experienced DJI's camera stabilising technology first hand using their drones, which employ identical techniques to keep footage smooth in windy conditions, so I was excited to experience the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Smartphone Stabiliser.
Over the past few years, the technology associated with expensive motion picture equipment has found its way into the consumer market. Once heavy and cumbersome, the large motors needed to stabilise heavy camera equipment have now been replaced by tiny
The Osmo Mobile 2 allows for the capture of extremely smooth footage using an Android or iPhone to capture the video itself. The mobile device is slotted into a rubber padded clamp, balanced manually using the adjuster on the Osmo. This initial adjustment means that the

pans and produces a smooth and stable sweeping timelapse video, it was very impressive. The standard tripod screw mount at the base of the Osmo allows you to attach it to a tripod, so no tired arms when producing your masterpiece.
DJI provides an app for both Android and iPhone to directly control the device via Bluetooth LE 4.0 and also includes a USB socket to allow you to charge your phone. DJI state up to a 15-battery life, so you should be able to comfortably use the device and maintain your phone battery life with plenty to spare.
At 485g, the Osmo Mobile 2 is very light but feels high quality in the hand. You do also have to take into account the weight of the device you are going to use. The Osmo is comfortable stabilising anything from the size of an iPhone SE to an iPhone 7s, but check your phone is compatible before purchasing, especially with an Android device.
After installing the device, you switch on the Osmo by long-pressing the button on the handle; the Gimbal springs into life, balances your mobile device and suddenly it appears to float in mid-air, silently holding your phone completely steady! You can use the DJI GO 3 app to take movies, photographs, panoramas and even Live Stream to Facebook, YouTube and more. The Osmo can be set to smoothly follow your hand motion, removing judder whilst filming or can be set to maintain the position of the phone. For more advanced uses, there are Timelapse, Hyperlapse and Motion Timelapse. All of these modes produce really impressive results; my favourite was Motion Timelapse, which allowed me to take speeded up sunsets and even panoramic shots of large structures, by setting the start, middle and end points of the movie, choosing a lapse time and the number of frames. When you click Go, the camera very slowly
This is the second iteration of the Osmo Mobile and DJI have successfully brought down the cost of the original model without forsaking built quality and features. If you are a budding 'vlogger' or like taking footage of family and friends, this may be the gadget for you. There is even a 'Selfie Mode' with object tracking to keep you all in the picture wherever you might be! At ÂŁ129, the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is good value for money, has great battery life and the features are great too. I loved it! Review By Matt Porter The Gadget Man www.thegadgetman.org.uk PAGE

Carmen Sunday 23 September, 7.30pm, £32.50 - £36.00 Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a live Orchestra numbering over 30 musicians live at the Alive Corn Exchange on Sunday 23 September. Carmen tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who falls head over heels in love with Carmen, a seductive, free-spirited femme fatale. The infatuated Don José abandons his childhood sweetheart and neglects his military duties, only to lose the fickle Carmen to the glamorous toreador Escamillo. The music of Carmen has been widely acclaimed for the brilliance of its melodies, enthralling atmosphere and orchestration, as well as for the skill with which Bizet musically represented the emotions and suffering of his characters. The ‘Toreador Song’ is among the best known of all operatic arias. The rich and colourful vigour of the gypsies’ scenes will have you on the edge of your seat; the vibrancy, enthusiasm and intensity of the performances will reverberate long after the final curtain has fallen. Love, treachery, passion and betrayal... Carmen has it all.

Delving Into The World Of Dreams
RAMBERT’s LIFE IS A DREAM September 27 & 28, 2018 Leading contemporary dance company Rambert returns to Norwich on September 27 and 28 where the Theatre Royal will host the premiere of its new UK tour featuring a fulllength lavish new production delving into the world of dreams. A beautiful, contemporary interpretation of a 17th century classic play, Life is a Dream by renowned choreographer Kim Brandstrup is the first full-length narrative piece the company has presented in 38 years and it tells a story of alienation, vengeance, tenderness and redemption. Olivier Award-winning Kim Brandstrup’s previous work for Rambert, Transfigured Night,
which was performed for Norwich Theatre Royal audiences in 2016, won the 2016 National Dance Award for best modern choreography and this latest work from him has a similar feel. Life is a Dream is inspired by Spanish playwright and poet Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s philosophical allegorical tale of the same name, which questions the human condition and mystery of life. It tells of an imprisoned Polish prince, incarcerated since his birth because of his father’s dreams. When he is released, he creates havoc by greedily trying to grab everything he has missed out on and he messes up his opportunity. Put back into prison, he is told everything was a dream.

Then when he is freed again, he approaches his life in a different way with a manner of awe and wonderment. These are the threads that fed the choreographer’s imagination as he began to create his full-length piece. It features dramatic, lyrical movement from Rambert’s brilliant ensemble dancing as duets and in groups as they represent different character attributes; design and imagery from legendary film-makers the Quay Brothers who have created a dream-like experience; and costumes by film, theatre and dance costumer designer Holly Waddington. The Rambert orchestra will be playing the rich music of Polish composer Witold Lutosławski live - a rare treat for classical music fans but also highly accessible - to create a wall of sound which includes the folk-inspired Dance Preludes, Musique Funèbre written in memory of Bartok, and Chain II, a thrilling violin concerto. Kim Brandstrup said: “Calderón’s play has, for a long time, been a personal dream of mine. Though written nearly 400 years ago, it is remarkably contemporary and resonates strongly in a world where the lines between reality and fantasy are increasingly blurred. Re-thinking the play to create a full-length narrative dance piece for contemporary dancers in a modern context will, I hope, make its profound insight resonate with a new audience. Rambert is the perfect company to take on the scope and ambition of this idea and I am both excited and honoured to be able to create this piece with them.” Communications Officer, Judy Foster, said: “It’s exciting for the Theatre Royal to be premiering Rambert’s new UK Tour, especially as it is the first full-length narrative piece they have presented in 38 years. It’s a visually beautiful piece with the Rambert orchestra creating a dramatic sound, to produce a powerful experience for our audiences.”
