It’s August! How did that happen? We blinked and the summer holidays were upon us, as is issue 28. We are halfway through the GoGoDragon Trail and to celebrate we have had a rather remarkable front cover commissioned by Todd Henderson & James McNulty, author and illustrator of ‘The Dragons Disguise’ a fantastic children’s picture book series. Todd and James have also made a one off GoGoDragons special book, entitled ‘The GoGoDragons Disguise’ which generously donates all its proceeds to Break (so go out and grab a copy). You can met Todd and James in person on Sunday 16th August at Coleman Opticians Sunday reading festival. As well as hearing The Dragons Disguise read by Todd, James will be drawing unique images with the help of the children attending. Over August there are many wonderful local events taking place around Norfolk, including Thetford who has its annual Great Festival. An eclectic mix of activities spread over 2 weeks (August 21st – September 6th) which really show Thetford off at its best, from bird watching to cricket there is something for all the family. Whatever you do over the summer holidays, make sure you visit the GoGoDragon trail in Norwich at least once, and don’t forget to get a selfie with GoGo King Tut and either Tweet (@GoGoKingTut) or post to The King’s Facebook page (www. facebook.com/gogokingtut), we love to see our readers with the Big Dragon himself. We hope you enjoy Issue 28.

Thought Of The Month
By Alex Wiseman
Warm hot chocolate I have not moaned for several months now, and I know what you’re thinking, that Alex can’t find anything to moan about now. Well if you thought that, you are wrong. Why is it nowadays when you order a hot chocolate in a cafe it comes freezing cold or at best luke warm?! When tea is made it has to be hot so why not the same with hot chocolate?! Wonder if anyone else gets annoyed?!

Fosters Solicitors Motoring Update
In recent months you may have already noticed some important changes to the documentary requirements placed on drivers. As part of the reduction of what it considers unnecessary bureaucracy the government has abolished the familiar 'tax disc' requirement and also the paper counterpart of driving licences. So what does this mean for drivers? The change effectively abolishes the old offence of failing to display the disc in the windscreen, bringing to an end the 93 year requirement to display the colourful tax disc. But perhaps more importantly with the new system comes the end of the ability to transfer the remaining tax to a new purchaser, meaning that when you buy a car, you must make immediate arrangements to pay the tax, as a refund will be sent to the seller automatically. Since the 10th July, the DVLA have also stopped issuing paper counterpart licences. Some critics are already expressing concerns over how this may impact on hiring a vehicle or providing proof of clean licence, but the DVLA believes the system will be made easier via a new 'MyLicence' online system. Anyone with a current paper licence need not worry about where it is - the changes also apply to existing licences as well as new ones issued from the start date.

Guest Blogs by Naked Element www.nakedelement.co.uk Cookies, Dinosaurs & Sandler Sales Training
We decided recently that our sales skills needed a tune-up, so we contacted Ermine at Sandler Sales Training. Our first session was a bright and early Thursday morning. Thankfully there was hot tea on tap (almost literally) and homemade cookies, which helped ease us into the session. In the modern meeting rooms at No.8 Thorpe Road we were taken through body language, tonality, building a rapport - lots of things that might seem obvious but that many people neglect when meeting potential new clients. There was also a submarine (a metaphorical one you understand). We were given the task of setting ourselves a goal, and the task of reaching it, by the following session, kind of like being back at school but with coffee and iPhones. There were plastic toy dinosaurs on the tables too, so I set myself an extra goal of ‘freeing’ one during the next session. Dinosaurs deserve to be free range. Even if there are fewer homemade cookies in the wild. We’ll keep you up to date with our progress as we make our way through the course! Written by Naked Element.
Being Upfront About It Another glorious day in Norwich and another early morning training
session at No. 8 Thorpe Road. The seminar with Sandler Sales Training focused on Upfront Contracts basically being honest about what you want, what you expect and how you imagine you will get there. Also Granola Cookies, which didn’t sound appealing (give me a bacon sandwich over granola any day) but they were surprisingly delicious. Among other things Sandler lady Ermine made a point of using an Upfront Contract (or agreement really) at every stage of a business deal, especially at the end of a meeting. It became clear that the benefits of doing this were that everyone knew what was expected of them and what they could expect from each other. Essentially keeping the path clear so that there were no surprises or disappointments along the way, ensuring a better business relationship and (hopefully) better and more business! She had some handy acronyms to help remember basic Upfront Contract procedure, at the beginning of a meeting and after the sale has been completed. I also got to meet Keith, who’s job I still don’t fully understand, but seemed like a lovely chap albeit stressed at working with the public sector. Still haven’t pocketed a Dinosaur but I’ve got my eye on the blue one with spines….. Written by Naked Element.
Sunshine and Budgets!
It was a scorcher at Sandler Sales training. Not only was it already above 20 degrees and not even 8am, but we were dealing with budgets today. Money is a tricky thing to talk about but for those of us running a business, it’s essential that we do! Ermine gave some ideas on how to bring up budget without making people feel awkward or uncomfortable, and gave us an idea on how to officially ‘close’ a sale. I will divulge one tip – the sale isn’t over until your fee is in the bank! A lesson a lot of us have already learned the hard way. The cookies were indulgent white chocolate and raspberry (no granola for me!) but the dinosaurs were missing. Good job I snapped a picture of them the week before, or you’re all going to think i’m making it up. Or going crazy. Maybe both…. Written by Naked Element. Twitter: @icenimagazine

Walk With A Fork To Raise Funds For Ormiston Families
If you’re a Norfolk foodie that enjoys a good Sunday walk, why not join Ormiston Families for this year’s Norfolk Walk with a Fork, taking place on Sunday 4th October? Hosted by the East of England’s leading family charity, the eight mile walk is returning for its third year, and features some of the county’s local food producers, all providing tasty treats along the route through the grounds of Walsingham Abbey, famous for the spectacular ruins of its mediaeval priory. This year’s Walk with a Fork is being supported by a host of local food producers including Aspall Cyder, Fairfield Crisps, Crush Foods, and Grey Seal coffee. Gavin Lamb, from Ormiston Families says of the event: “Walk with a Fork has become one of our favourite fundraising events and guarantees participants a great day out. We are hugely grateful to Walsingham Abbey for opening its grounds to us and a big thank you to all the great food producers that support us. Walk with a Fork is a fantastic way to celebrate Norfolk at its finest, whilst at the same time raising much needed funds to support families in need across our region.” Tickets cost £15 per person, which includes entry, entertainment, lunch and a foodie extravaganza at each of the route’s food stops. Children are welcome and under 5’s go free. Dogs are also welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.

THETFORD FESTIVAL
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Issue 28 2015
All The Fun Of Thetford’s Great Festival The excitement is mounting in Thetford; flashes of orange are beginning to appear around the town which can only mean one thing - its festival time! Now in its sixth year, Thetford’s Great Festival is organised by Thetford Tourism & Heritage Partnership and Thetford Town Council. There are 90 different activities and events spread across 17 days starting Committee Left To Right: Corinne Fulford, Karen-Emma White, Oliver Bone, on Friday August 21st and finishing on Melissa Hawker, Stuart Wright, Andy Blyth, Tina Cunnell. Credit: Andy Blyth Sunday September 6th. Organised by a small committee of seven, the ethos of the festival is that there is something for everyone at Thetford’s Great Festival. The hard working organisers are usually very publicity shy, but this year for the first time they’ve agreed to spill the beans on some of their favourite events. Oliver Bone I am most looking forward to the Stone-curlew roost spectacular event at Cavenham Heath on the 2nd September. I’ve never seen a stone curlew apart from a stuffed one in the museum and I would love to see one of the Brecks iconic creatures in the flesh! What I like about the festival is the variety and the amazing choice people can have to get involved and enjoy themselves, with a number highlighting aspects of Thetford and area’s amazing heritage. Credit Ironheads
Corinne Fulford I’m really excited about Festival Combat, something that is brand new for this year’s festival. I fear I’m a little old for Medieval Knight School, much to the relief of my fellow committee members, but I am looking forward to seeing the LARP weapons in action. I love the range of incredible events during Thetford’s Great Festival, the vibrancy and how everyone pulls together either to organise events or simply to enjoy all there is on offer.
Stuart Wright The Thetford's Great Festival event I am looking forward to is the play 'A battle won'. Kiara Hawker demonstrated last year her ability to captivate her audience telling a story and this year's production focusing on women during three conflicts over the centuries looks like a great offering. What I like about the Festival is the breadth of events for young and old but also over a range of interests and the participation of so many organisations showcasing what Thetford has to offer. During my mayoral year 2013/14 I nominated the Festival as my chosen charity and am delighted that the funds raised have enabled the Festival to continue to develop.

Tina Cunnell My favourite event is the fairies as I’m looking forward to a magical day with my daughter learning about the Fairyland Trust and how to grow our own wildflowers. Even better is that we then get to enjoy tea and lovely cake at the Thetford Garden Centre Coffee shop. What I love about the festival is the variety there truly is something for everyone and with so many free events people can get to enjoy more than one event.

Melissa Hawker The Thetford's Great Festival event I am most looking forward to is the Schools “Udder Art” Competition on Friday 21 August. It's wonderful to see the colourful creativity of local school pupils. It is a great start to our Great Festival! I really enjoy the festival fortnight; I love the positive atmosphere and smiling faces throughout the town during that time. Andy Blyth The RSPB Nature walks have been a popular feature of the Festival for the past few years. Always well-attended, they offer a great opportunity for all ages to learn firsthand about our wonderful and unique local environment from the experts. These walks are perfect for the reluctant rambler and natural historian or perhaps the next Chris Packham. I really like the variety on offer during the festival, and the support it gets from the local community.

Karen-Emma White I’m really looking forward to the Anglo Sikh cricket match. Last year although the rain was like a monsoon, the standard of cricket was excellent and provided a great afternoons entertainment. This year I’m looking forward to packing a picnic and fingers crossed, Thetford will win this year! It’s a great event that links Ancient House Museum to sport. I really like the opportunity Thetford’s Great Festival gives us to engage with our local and wider community and to spread the word about what a fantastic place Thetford is.

IS WORK TOO IMPORTANT...

Issue 28 2015
Is Work Too Important In Your Life? By Susan Leigh
Susan Leigh
Did you know that one in five people work an additional 7 hours a week in unpaid overtime on top of their paid hours. Is that dedication or folly! If you come into this category, what else would you like to do with an extra day each week? Do you ever wonder, is work too important in your life?
Clearly work is an important part of our lives, it provides us with purpose, challenges, occupation as well as necessary income, but, as the saying goes, no one ever said on their deathbed they wish they'd spent more time at work. For many people work is about providing a roof over their heads, the means to take care of children and family, support their hobbies and interests. It's important to safeguard the essential parts of their lives as well as do something meaningful and satisfying with their time.
So, with that in mind, let's look and see if work is too important in your life. Do you agree to take on more work than you can handle? I used to know a top female executive who had a job in a male dominated environment. She never dared say 'no' to her boss when asked to take on additional tasks as she was concerned that he would regard her as weak or unequal to the job. She frequently worked late into the evening and over weekends. After a course of hypnotherapy, working on her confidence and self-worth, she became more positive about her abilities and skills. One day her boss asked her if she could do some extra work for him. She replied that she'd do it, but also told him what else she was working on and asked him what he wanted doing first. It turned out that he was unaware of her Twitter: @icenimagazine
workload and was happy to pass the new task to someone else. Learning to communicate better, be more appropriately assertive is the key to dealing with an excess of requests. Do you fear that you are not up to the job, are going to be 'found out' and because of this spend a lot of time checking your work or take on an increasing number of tasks in a desperate bid to prove your worth to your boss. Doing a good job is important but being motivated by fear and anxiety is counter productive and results in stress, anxiety and often more mistakes. In these situations it's important to check if extra training or education is needed, is this the best job for you or are you under too much pressure? How frequently are mistakes made and how serious are they? We all make occasional mistakes. Being kinder to ourselves allows us to be less than perfect, and removes the fear and stress factor. Are you afraid to delegate? Some people are afraid of letting go of their control, are concerned that others will do a better job and that they will consequently lose some status or seniority. In truth, teaching others to do some of our work encourages enthusiasm and new ideas in our staff and frees us up to do other, more important work, focus on developing different areas of the business, or even have a little free time! Reminding yourself about balance, about why you work so hard helps you to refocus. Just because work is important and demanding doesn't mean that you should ignore or relegate the less demanding areas of your life to second place. Free time spent with the important people in your life recharges your batteries, helps to reduce your stress levels and feel happier with yourself and your choices. Nurturing your important friendships, relationships and interests whilst maintaining a good work/life balance means that you resume your work related duties feeling refreshed and recharged, with better concentration and renewed vigour. Susan Leigh is a Counsellor and Hypnotherapist who works with stressed individuals to promote confidence and self belief, with couples experiencing relationship difficulties to improve communications and understanding and with business clients to support the health and motivation levels of individuals and teams. The Diary of a Norfolk Family. By Mark King It was Sunday and the last service for Fr Barry the rector of our local parish church who was retiring. Above: Mark King
The building was packed with some people having to stand. The full choir were present including the juniors. A spread of food, cakes and drinks were ready at the back of the church for everyone to celebrate the event. This is what Fr Barry wanted, the whole event to be a celebration, but after being the parish priest for ten years it's very hard to say goodbye to someone you have got to know over that time, and not feel emotional about it. I can honestly say he is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and someone who truly believed in the message he wanted to pass onto others. With his wife by his side they made a lovely couple that brought the community together with warmth, and belief, that was infectious. The previous day my son had been boating on the Norfolk Broads with his Beaver group. The weather on the Saturday was just gorgeous although it rained on the Sunday. Fr Barry made a joke about it during his sermon because it was raining on the very first day he turned up. I took my swimmers with me and a picnic for the family. During the breaks from boating my daughter and son swam with me in the broads while the wife took pictures on the side. I tried to entice her in, but she was quite happy to just soak up the sun. It was a busy weekend because on the Sunday after the service my son's football team were playing in a major football tournament organised by Norwich City Football in the community so when Monday arrived everyone was truly relaxed, and ready for the week ahead. www.always-hanging-around.blogspot.com PAGE

As I type this, I am feeling tanned and relaxed, and my belly a little too full, following a week in the sun in Crete. Yes, I have just returned from my brother’s Big Fat Greek Wedding, and it was truly fabulous. Best ‘I wasn’t expecting that’ moment Borrowing my boss’s suitcase, opening it up to pack and find a pair of his underpants inside. Best Mama Beev moment Above: Keri Beevis As expected, there were many, but I loved the point when, on the outbound flight, she failed to put her coffee lid back on securely and managed to pour most of the cup into her lap. ‘My knickers are soaked,’ she exclaimed. The funniest thing about it was that my aunt managed to do the same thing at exactly the same time and both sat mopping at their crotches in unison. Best ‘in your face, anyone who is worried to go to Crete because of the Greek financial crisis’ moment Our first night meal involved starters, mains, more starters (because we are a greedy bunch) and copious amounts of alcohol, and came to only fifteen euros per head (including a generous tip). Seriously, you would be looking at trebling that in the UK. Most breathtaking moment It has to be a toss-up between the stunning sunsets and the wedding venue itself, which was quirky, quaint and oh so pretty with fairy lights hanging from the trees. Best ‘Beev yucky face’ moment Every time I was given raki. Now I adore the Greeks, but I’m sorry guys, this stuff tastes like I imagine nail polish remover would, and because you bring it out as a thank you at the end of every meal, and I’m British so feel like I have to be polite and grateful and stuff, I’m forcing a glass down, trying my damnedest to look like I’m enjoying it, while glancing around for the nearest plant pot. Best feel good moment The Beev clan bonding with sister-in-law’s extended crew and all of us having a great time with the friends who joined us. By the end of the week we were like some alcoholic version of The Waltons. Best ‘seriously, it’s happening again?’ moment Getting frisked at the airport after setting the alarms off while going through security, because the underwire in my bra is just too hardcore. It happens so frequently I can tell them as soon as the stupid machine starts beeping which area they need to target. Best British moment Fifteen of us arriving at the airport on the final day and randomly joining a queue, just because it was there. We remained in the said queue for a good five to ten minutes until the Polish member of our party told us we were being idiots and the queue was nothing to do with us. Most ‘wow, is this really happening?’ moment I loved our swimming pool so much I turned into a freaking fish while on holiday and swam so many lengths each day that my arms and legs nearly stopped working. Yeah, I know. It was a shock to me as well. Best overall moment Now this one is difficult because there were some great moments. Our first view of the sunset is up there and seeing my sister-in-law walking down the aisle was really special, but I think if I had to go for one standout moment it would have to be arriving in our villa, going to use the bathroom and realising that we had our own cesspool so could flush loo paper down the toilet. Sorry sister-in-law, you’ve been trumped by toilet paper. It’s the little things. Twitter: @icenimagazine

New Major Car Festival Featuring Supersonic Bloodhound Showcar Is Announced In Great Yarmouth A full-sized replica of a supersonic car designed to smash the world land speed record will be the highlight of a major new car festival at Great Yarmouth seafront, on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. The GY Wheels Festival will give visitors to Marine Parade the chance to view scores of prestige and novelty cars, as well as try their hands at fun educational activities, from 10am to 5pm on both days. The star attraction will be the official full-sized replica of Bloodhound SSC, a British-built
jet-and rocket-powered car, designed to go at 1,000mph, which will attempt to smash the world land speed record. Jointly organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area (GYTABIA), with additional funding from Joyland and the American Diner, the free festival aims to further extend the tourism season and support the local economy. Great Yarmouth is the only location in East Anglia, which the Bloodhound Roadshow will be visiting, before the team heads to Hakskeen Pan, South Africa in summer 2016, with the aim

of first setting a new world record of 800mph and then looking to take it to 1,000mph. The Bloodhound Roadshow will have a marquee on Anchor Plaza, featuring the official showcar, a test drive simulator, and a fun activity enabling young people to make and race compressed airpowered K’Nex cars. Also at Anchor Plaza will be displays of a dragster from Santa Pod Raceway. Meanwhile, at Britannia Plaza, people will be able to see the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, the Inbetweeners car, Barbie’s car, a Hummer, limousines and the Bloodhound support vehicles. More vehicles will be announced in the coming weeks. The Autobahn Stormers Club will be showing off their Lotus Carltons on Anchor Gardens, where young people will also be able to design their own rocket cars in blocks of Styrofoam as part of an educational workshop. These cars will be cut out in front of their eyes by a Bloodhound expert, will have a rocket motor attached and then be raced along a 30-metre track. The young person with the fastest car will win a VIP day pass to Joyland, plus a burger meal for four at the American Diner. Also at the festival will be model vehicles from the Lowestoft Mechanical Engineering Exhibition (LOWMEX), plus an information stand from the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Network (STEMNET). Peter Harrison, the lead Bloodhound ambassador for the East of England, said: “Bloodhound SSC is not just about smashing the world record but also about inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers, encouraging young people to choose to study science, technology, engineering and maths.

the GY Wheels Festival will ensure that even more people can enjoy the unique Bloodhound experience.” Cllr Barry Coleman, the borough council’s deputy leader, whose portfolio includes tourism, said: “The borough council is delighted to be working with partners to stage this free festival, which aims to provide yet another reason to visit the borough later in the season and thereby support the local economy. “The GY Wheels Festival is a great addition to our growing calendar of festivals. We know from other car festivals around the UK, and the popularity of shows like Top Gear, that cars have a very wide appeal. “We already have a great line-up, with more vehicular attractions still to be announced, and it has been a major coup to secure the official replica of Bloodhound SSC - a name which everyone will hear a lot more of in the coming months.” David Marsh, chairman of the GYTABIA, said: “This is a fantastic new festival which will continue to grow over the next five years of the BID, helping to bring extra people into the borough to support local businesses.” Michael Cole, of Joyland and the American Diner, said: “I have been following this project for a number of years and am delighted that the Bloodhound SSC showcar is to be the star attraction at this year’s GY Wheels Festival next to Joyland. “It will give everyone a unique opportunity to see this fantastic piece of British engineering and maybe inspire schoolchildren into an engineering career.”
“Great Yarmouth, as a hugely popular family resort, is therefore the ideal location - and

A few of the wonderful Amazon reviews for The Dragon's Disguise... When is the next one?! The kids love this book. The rhyming is beautifully constructed, and the pics tell the story to perfection. I was amazed at how involved they got! They're not usually keen on too many books, but this one captured them from the beginning. Would recommend this book to all kids as it triggers off their imagination in an instant! A fantastic book!! This book manages to keep the attention of both my 4 year old and 2 year old boys. This is a rare occurrence!! They thoroughly enjoyed the story, animatedly chatting about what was happening. The pictures are lovely and both boys wanted me to read the book again. We all hope that Oscar has more adventures soon! Fantastic, a must have book. A book that captures my two monkeys is a rare thing, The Dragon's Disguise had them from the very first page! Beautifully written and illustrated, my youngest took it to bed with her so she could look at it again when she wakes up! We can't wait for the next book and see what adventures awaits Oscar!

All-New Mitsubishi L200 By Tim Barnes-Clay, Motoring Journalist www.carwriteups.co.uk Twitter: @carwriteups If you are a tradesman, or you simply want to get your hands on an affordable, tough as old boots, grown up version of a Tonka truck, then Mitsubishi’s all-new L200 is for you. It’s practical, it’s comfortable, and with 4x4 ability, it’ll get you on and off mud-ridden building sites or farm fields with utter ease. Not only that, the pickup does what it says on the tin - it’ll be your best friend when it comes to collecting loads and, when the cargo area is full, it’s the perfect vehicle for lugging a laden trailer around. The latest L200’s looks aren’t bad either. Retaining the sporty and elegant features of its predecessor, the fifth generation L200’s exterior design projects a dynamism which evokes the finely-honed muscles of an athlete. A double cab version means there’s enough room for four, so when the Mitsubishi isn’t tackling off road areas or hauling heavy-duty merchandise around, it’s a handy family motor. Indeed, the L200’s surprisingly quieter interior is achieved through the all-

new diesel engine and noise-reducing measures on the vehicle body. It is hushed enough to have conversations with your rear passengers, even when driving on motorways or rough roads.
There’s a reason for this: the Mitsubishi has an all-new 2.4 litre MIVEC turbo-charged diesel engine, mated to a box-fresh sixspeed manual transmission. An auto version is available, too. But whichever transmission you choose, the lump’s variable geometry turbocharger, with small turbine, gives a greatly improved response and provides decent driving pleasure. The overall impression is that the Mitsubishi gathers pace like an angry rhino. When it gets rolling, you feel it’s like an indestructible road-train. Good job, then, that the pickup has first-rate brakes to scrub off any unwanted speed.
The all-new L200 is built by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand for all global markets – launching in the UK Behind the wheel, there’s a significant and Europe this summer in both the quality step-up, combined with better aforementioned Double Cab style, seating and an improved driving position as well as in Club Cab configuration. for a more comfortable driving experience. However, the Mitsubishi takes some getting used to. You can’t just takes bends with one finger on the wheel – as you might lazily do with a normal family car. No, this pickup will take corners wide if you don’t discipline it.
Pace, although it’s not the first thing you think about when you buy a pickup, isn’t an issue on the up-to-the-minute L200.

SOCIAL MEDIA Issue 28 2015
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Creating A Facebook Business Page Nearly all of us have a personal Facebook page, but what if you want your business to also have a Facebook page - what's the best way to do this? Well firstly don't use your actual personal Facebook account for your business, it's not professional and letting your clients see what you're up to personally or letting them hear your personal opinions probably isn't a good idea. So how do you go about setting up a business page. Well firstly you do need to have a personal Facebook account as you'll use that to create the admin user for the business page. When you’re logged in to Facebook (desktop version) click the arrow in the top right corner to reveal its drop
down options and click 'Create Page' and select the page type that best suits your needs from the options listed below: 1. Local Business or Place Generally this is most likely to be the option you'd choose as it's the most flexible solution and assumes that you have customers who'll regularly visit your premises - I'd also recommend this for charities too as it has 'cause or charity' as a business category. 2. Company, Organisation or Institution Ideal for companies that don’t normally have customers visiting their premises or if you’re a business that has multiple geographical locations. 3. Brand or Product Used for businesses that sell their products through retailers or resellers (ie. Branded soft drinks, computer brands etc)
SOCIAL MEDIA
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
4. Artist, Band or Public Figure This pretty much 'does what it says on the tin' - just make sure you select your category carefully. 5. Entertainment Generally reserved for 'entertainment' related businesses which could include concert tours, TV shows etc. 6. Cause or Community Carefully review all the other options before considering this one (even whether a 'group' might be better for you) as this page type can be very restricting and normally ‘Local Business or Place’ or ‘Company, Organisation or Institution’ page options can cover most categories including causes or charities. Once you've chosen your page type it’s time to choose a business category that matches your business (the available options vary depending on which page type you've chosen). Then fill out some basic info on your business - nothing too complicated thankfully, agree to Facebook's T&Cs and then you're ready to begin populating your business page. Don't forget to check your page settings (in ‘Settings’) to ensure the right level of ‘visibility’ for your page. Add a description and your website address, if you have one - it all helps your discoverability.
Issue 28 2015
Summary So that's the basics of creating a Facebook business page but thats just the beginning - you’ll need to consider how you’ll promote your business page, how you’ll attract new followers and how you’ll keep the page fresh. HELPFUL TIP - If you want to ‘like’ another page (as your business) go to the page you want to like and click the three dots/three lines icon below/within the page's cover photo and select 'Like as Your Page' from the dropdown list and then click Save! In recent months Facebook has decided to reduce the visibility of business pages (probably to get you to use their paid advertising if we're being honest) so it's important to ensure that you offer your followers strong, unique and shareable content. Facebook is constantly changing its personal account and business pages settings so it's worth making sure you keep up to date with the changes and adjust if necessary. If you need any help or advice on your Facebook business page or you just want to know more about how social media can help your business get in touch with me at http://paulkirkdesign.co.uk or at @PKirk_designer
Add a profile image (currently 180 x 180px 72dpi .JPG) - I'd suggest this is your company logo. Then find an eye-catching cover photo (currently 851 x 315px 72dpi .JPG). Create your first business post and don't forget to update it regularly with new posts. You can schedule posts easily in advance too. You can also add additional Facebook admin users via ‘Settings’ to help you manage your business page, if needed. Twitter: @icenimagazine

GOLD ARTS FASHION SHOW

Issue 28 2015
Gold Arts Fashion Show Friday 26th June
The Gold Arts Fashion Show took place on Friday 26th June at Thorpe St. Andrew School and Sixth Form, where local designers who studied at the Norwich University of the Arts, such as Grace Dugdale, Holly Bilverstone and Bethany Adamson featured their work in the show. The show was organised by Becki Ball, a student at Thorpe St. Andrew Sixth Form as part of her Unit 2 Gold Arts Award Enrichment Course. “It was such an amazing opportunity and I really enjoyed the show, it felt fantastic to see it all come together. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who made the show possible, and to everyone who supported me. I loved every minute of the show, and it has been such a wonderful achievement to have for the rest of my life. The show was really fun and everything went together smoothly, it was completely worth it.” Becki Ball The event had taken months of planning, and alongside with studying for A-level exams, it was very hard work. “There was so much to organise, and it was very easy to forget the smallest of things that would make quite a big difference.” (Becki). “Music, lighting, refreshments, venue, seating, models, make-up, rehearsals, advertising, posters, ticket design and clothing- the list seemed endless!”

The models that took part in the show were students from different schools and colleges- such as Thorpe Twitter: @icenimagazine
St. Andrew School, Sprowston High School, Paston College and Open Academy, but they all worked together really well. Sophie Neale, Amy Ford, Kiren Kooner, Annabel McCarthy, Lucy Goodwin, Amiee Bagley, Lilly Pace, Kyla Harwood, Georgi Ball, George Lowe, Ashleigh Rump and Luke Houghton were the models that took part. Grace Dugdale, a former student at the Norwich University of the Arts, provided some clothing for the show which she had designed. Her work was inspired by children’s wear which was combined with the aspect of adults dressing in a younger, childlike manner. Holly Bilverstone also allowed Becki to use her garments in the show, which were inspired by the 1940’s elegance and sophistication of women from that time. Bethany Adamson’s clothing was another addition to the show, her work stems on reconstructing shapes, with her clothing titled ‘missing pieces’. Cocoon by City College was another contribution to the show, which had been created by the students at the college; providing some exciting variety. Thorpe St. Andrew GCSE textiles students were able to show off their excellent work after the show’s interval; the audience were amazed at the quality of work they had produced. The last section of the show featured suits very kindly supplied by Slaters. Sophie Neale took part in the show and has modelled for Norwich Fashion Week 2015, saying she found the event really enjoyable, and stated how it was “great because students got to showcase their work.” Kiren Kooner, from Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form, who modelled in the show told Becki “the show was really good and all the work put into organising

it really paid off. The show had a really good atmosphere and looked really professional.” Annabel McCarthy, also from Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form said that it was “such a well planned and executed, professional fashion show.” She also added “the garments I modelled were amazing and I wanted to take them home!” Georgi Ball, a year 10 student from Sprowston High School performed cover versions of ‘Follow You Into the Dark’ by Death Cab For Cutie and ‘Come Together’ by the Beatles with guitar and vocals. She did an amazing job, with some people from the audience commenting that it was one of the highlights of the show. Georgi said that “it was a great opportunity to perform my music, and backstage everything was calm and collected. Becki was a strong leader but at the same time we still had fun.” At the end of the show, there was a short finale; where all the models came on stage to have a photo taken with Becki. The show was recorded and photographed by Thorpe St. Andrew photography students Lauren Howes, Alice Lock and Charlotte Cross, who did a very good job. Backstage, Lucy Howes helped out, and she was really useful, as the models had to get changed so fast they often needed assistance with the clothing! She also helped setting Twitter: @icenimagazine

The music and lighting was organised by Harry Diggens and Hayden Gurney, they also did a fantastic job, creating a very professional atmosphere. Emily Walters, Hayley Ratcliff and Leonie Read, who are currently at the Norfolk Hair and Beauty Training Academy, provided the make-up for the models. “The make-up was very professional and it was great to have them helping out for the show, I was really pleased with the result of the makeup!” (Becki.) Bold brows, with bold and bright lips, and with a defined cat flick eyeliner was the look achieved by the make-up artists, giving an edge to the model’s appearance. “I would also like to say a massive thank you to my arts award teacher Miss Breeze who has helped me out so much! I would like to also say thanks to my mum Caroline Ball, and to my dad Brian Lee Cooper too, for running me about everywhere to go to fittings, see the make-up artists etc!” PAGE

KEYS AUCTIONEERS Issue 28 2015
Keys | Fine Art Auctioneers Five hundred years ago, the first modern maps of the world appeared, among them those offering a first glimpse of the New World. When first published in Bologna in 1477, The Cosmographia, or Geographia, was the world’s first printed atlas. In 2006, at Sotheby’s, a copy in full contemporary colour of that 1477 Bologna edition of the Cosmographia - one of only two to remain in private hands - made a record £1.9m. Early maps and atlases displaying particular features are always of interest - for instance California as an island has always been very popular. From the 16th Century it was a long held European misconception that California was not part of mainland North America but rather a large island separated from the continent by a strait now known as the Gulf of California. The legend was initially infused with the idea that California was a terrestrial paradise, like the Garden of Eden or Atlantis. Maps showing the discovery of Australia or the American Mid West always carry a high appeal, as do maps displaying such features as sea monsters, battle scenes, or those with figured borders. Recent auction prices reflect a broadening of interest in all antique and vintage maps, city plans and atlases and whether you are looking to buy a map of your home area or where you take your holidays or aiming to build a collection of maps buying at auction is a great place to start.

FOLLIES AND ALL THINGS...

FOLLIES AND ALL THINGS UNUSUAL
One of the very enduring delights of the English countryside is the possibility of stumbling across a folly whilst out and about on your travels. And Norfolk is no exception when it comes to these (mostly) Victorian structures with plenty to seek out, some well known, some not quite so well known. And some, sadly, that are no longer with us but are well remembered by those who lived their day to day lives in, around and sometimes inside them. Broadly speaking, a folly is a term which is applied to any building that seems to serve no practical purpose, either that or that its use and purpose comes as a secondary notion to a striking and/or unusual design. You could, for example, almost regard Tower Bridge in London as an example of a folly. Yes, it’s a bridge and yes, it serves a purpose. But look at how magnificently ornate it is in its Gothic splendour. It clearly needed the twin towers to hold the lifting mechanism required but they didn’t have to be so ornate or fancy. But, thankfully and most splendidly, they are. Because Victorian designers and architects loved to make everyday things look ornate. Lots of columns, dentils, entablatures, pediments and porticos with gargoyles in great abundance and more turrets than you could shake a woven stick at. Rarely necessary. But there nonetheless. And why? Because the architect could, as simple as that. Take, for example, the mausoleum at Blickling Hall. Which is a Pyramid. A Pyramid in deepest Norfolk. Purists would, have no doubt asked the question of its builder, Lady Caroline Suffield who oversaw its construction from 1796-1797, why she saw fit to build such an unusual and indulgent creation?
To which her answer may almost certainly have been, “Why not?” It was built on a base of 45 square feet and contains the remains of her Father, Sir John Hobart and his two wives. And they reside there alone as all of the other family ancestors and relations were buried in far more conventional surroundings-the family vault under the north aisle of the nearby Church of St Andrew in Blickling. The ghost of Anne Boleyn AND a mausoleum in the shape of a Pyramid? Quite a place, Blickling Hall. Blickling Estate also offers the countryside explorer a building known simply as ‘The Tower’. The Tower was built so that the privileged few could climb to the top in order to watch horse racing in some luxury-as well as with the best possible view. It looks like the type of fairy tale tower that might once have seen Rapunzel let down her hair from its peak. Nowadays, it’s there for anyone to let their hair down as a holiday rental owned by the National Trust that includes a “...rooftop terrace offering panoramic views across rolling fields and woodlands, stretching to the coast.” And very nice it is too. You never know, you might even see Anne Boleyn’s ghost from way up there. There’s another tower at Briningham known as the Belle Vue tower. Which is a bit of a mystery by all accounts. It’s not only been described as a folly but also lays

claim to being both a windmill and a watch tower since it was built in the early years of the 18th century. Its likely that it did indeed begin a working life as a smock mill (a type of windmill that consisted of a sloping, often horizontally thatched tower with six to eight sides) which was, for reasons as yet unknown, converted to a single brick tower towards the end of that century. Its redundancy therefore meant that it no longer had a useful purpose in life and, with that, it became a tower-splendid to look at and a marvel of engineering and imagination but fairly useless from a practical point of view. If you want, to coin a phrase, something completely different, then what about a trip to Feltwell in order to see the Dovecote there? This isn’t your average Dovecot stuck on the top of a wooden pole. No, this is serious, this, in the world of dove domiciles, is hardcore stuff. It looks more like a cottage than a dovecot and has accommodations for, wait for it, around 2000 birds. Not the kind of building you’d be wanting to leave your car near anytime soon. Now, how about Nelson’s Monument? No, not the one in Trafalgar Square. The other one. In Great Yarmouth. The figure atop it is actually Britannia rather than good old Horatio (“I am a Norfolk man and glory in being so”) himself but it was specifically built to commemorate him inbetween 1817-19 and was the first monument in England designed and built with his celebration in mind, the more famous Nelson’s Column in London having commenced its building in 1840. For those of you who collect such architectural minutiae, it is a fluted Greek Doric column surmounted by a figure of Britannia standing on a disc supported by Caryatid (sculpted female figures) which were originally made of Coade stone but were replaced by concrete in 1896 before, rather sadly (and shabbily) fibreglass replicas during restoration work in the early 1980’s. If you ever happen to find yourself in Little Ellingham, then it’s likely you might come across the clock tower of Little Ellingham Hall, another masterpiece of Victorian design that looks like it might have been imported directly from the pages of Grimm. Consisting of a clock tower and two cottages (and who, after all, hasn’t wanted a clock tower with their cottage?), a description of this picturesque building is enough to send any architect into a state of sheer

professional ecstasy. Because it’s got the lot. There are four gabled wings, each with partly external end stacks, two rounded arched windows on each storey with accompanying protruding keystones and two hipped (that’s “hipped”, not “hip”-these weren’t trendy and ‘with-it’) porches as well as heavy brick cornice supports which support a domed timber cupola. And that description goes on, I promise you. But that is, in essence, what a folly is, or was, about. It’s a celebration of excess, of doing something for the sheer joy of it and because you can, rather than because you can’t, or, heaven forbid, shouldn’t. Look at the bland, soulless and featureless new homes being built all over the country today. Live in magnolia with watered down specifications. The Victorians weren’t having that. Even their most humble buildings became triumphs of the imagination with those that housed utilities amongst the greatest examples. Take the two water towers at Hunstanton for example, one of which, sadly, was demolished in the 1970’s. What a sight it was, particularly to this wide eyed child who’d gaze up at it in awe just as those of a later generation might have regarded Concorde as it flew overhead. It was majesty in red brick, cornices and pinnacles; something which might not have looked out of place amongst the romance of Bavaria. But it was just a water tower. It didn’t need to be a work of art. But it was. All hail it’s designer, a man with no limits for his imagination. The surviving water tower which sits on the southern cusp of the town was built in 1912 in order to supply water to Heacham where five miles of mains piping had been laid. It’s capacity was 50,000 gallons and its relatively lofty location meant a top water level of 160 feet. It was converted to flats in the mid-1980’s, but at least it survives, unlike its unfortunate sister. I have mentioned just a few of our counties wonderful follies here. But there are plenty more. The secret, I think, is never to look for or expect to come across them. They will, by their very mysterious and often magical nature, come to you. And the very last thing you might think they are is a folly. Anything but, infact. Article by Edward Couzens-Lake PAGE

Status Quo Rocked All Over Newmarket It was a lovely Friday afternoon (17th July) and we were treated to a fabulous Newmarket Summer Night, this night it was the turn of Status Quo to take to the stage. They didn't disappoint!! We were treated to lots of their hits from years gone by. The weather was fantastic which made for a proper summer music evening. I think there was something extremely cool about standing next to a stage listening to music which I grew up watching my Dad do the tapping too every time 'Rocking all over the world' came on the radio!! The crowd loved them and the band loved the crowd. I always write in my reviews about audience participation and this gig was no different - the band spoke to the crowd and it was good fun. The band were fantastic live and every bit as entertaining as their cds are. I think I will always remember seeing this band live because their music is so famous and I am lucky at the age of 23 to be able to say that I've seen them live. Status Quo you rocked Newmarket... please come back soon!! Review By Alex Wiseman

Madness At Newmarket Friday June 26 - Review by Jessie Quick
Thousands of madheads were given a journey back in time by the ska band, who released their first album, One Step Beyond, more than 35 years ago. I would love to start the review with ‘Madness turned the Newmarket racecourse into a house of fun for their Grand Slam tour.’ Awkwardly, I left the performance thinking about the races rather than the band. From Camden Town, London, the boys were one of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. So you are probably asking, what do I know about them! Born in 1992, I have to be honest; the only song I really knew was Baggy Trousers. However, I was intrigued to see how the band handled a modern day audience, old fans and new, and I expected to leave the night a ‘madhead’ also. The night was sold out, with a racecourse filled with thousands of enthusiasts wearing fez hats as sported by saxophonist Lee Thompson, men and women were chanting One Step Beyond. I felt like I had been taken to the 80’s and I loved it. Conversely, the night appeared to have an anti-climax as the band took to the stage late, and despite the unwelcome rain, it stopped before the boys began. A short video was played on a large screen, to almost introduce new comers to the event, and refresh the minds of the mad fans. It was, however, a shame the nutty boys didn’t start the gig off with some of their biggest hits, such as House of Fun as I think this would have been a great way to fire up the crowd. In fact, the start was rather slow, and looking around I noticed people talking amongst themselves. I expected utter Madness and unfortunately, I think the band struggled to perform like they used too. The atmosphere felt like there was a slight disconnect between the boys on stage and the audience. As the night moved on, they began performing popular hits, including My Girl, Embarrassment, NW5, Night Boat to Cairo, and Our House which eventually got the crowd moving. Madness also toured to Doncaster and Brighton after Newmarket, and have since tweeted they will be back in 4 months for the House of Fun Weekender in Minehead. I hope the band can bring back the chemistry they once had, as I think this can make or break a performance. Still, gotta love Baggy Trousers. PAGE Twitter: @icenimagazine

Liam Baily Supports Paloma Faith At Thetford Forest Saturday 4th July - Review By Jessie Quick Liam Bailey, an artist primarily known for Chase & Status collaboration 'Blind Faith' supported retro, eccentric styled and also friend Paloma Faith at Thetford forest. He has since produced a few EPs (he was signed to Amy Winehouse’s Lioness label) and a smattering of other singles and collaborations. Thetford was full of fame that week, as other artists including Sam Smith and Tom Odell, took to the stage to join Forest Live. We are very lucky in Britain to have such a beautiful and diverse landscape for live events to take place. Credit: Alice Hawkins
With the sun beaming, families filled the forest creating a chilled ambiance. Everyone brought along chairs and picnics and set up around the stage as they waited eagerly for the show to begin. When Liam hit the stage it was a glorious opening to the night. Performing songs from his new album Definitely Now, including On my Mind, Stun me, Fool boy and Crazy Situation, he really displayed his soul, reggae and blues influenced vocal style. The album, which was released in the US in 2014 shows that he has now found his sound, and is described by Wondering Sound as "Sweet Daptone soul infused with blues moods, Oasis riffage, Sam Cooke grooves and light Jamaican accents.” Wow, that’s a lot of talent. Paloma later commented how thrilled she was to have her good friend support her at the forest, and mentioned she feels he doesn’t receive enough credit for his incredible music. He is a fresh take on the traditional blues, and his obvious passion and talent wooed me for one. I would love to see Bailey in a smaller setting, just to really hear his voice echo off the walls, but there is no doubt, he definitely deserves his time now.

ICENI - HOROSCOPES Issue 28 2015
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Horoscopes For August Aries 21 March - 20 April
Libra 24 September - 23 October
Your creativity gets a boost as Mars fires into Leo on the 9th, stirring up a desire to share your talents with the wider world. An increased competitive streak could also see you keen to make your mark. Bountiful Jupiter also moves into the sign of Virgo on the August 11th, and this encourages you to review your habits and routines in the next year. Doing so could enhance efficiency and vitality too.
Saturn edges forwards from the 1st of August, which could bring an improvement to any financial strains or limitations you have been experiencing. However, the lively focus on your social life continues and it could become even more hectic due to the arrival of Mars on the 9th in a really bubbly sector. Despite this from August 23rd, you can benefit from taking time out to reflect and pamper yourself somewhat more.
Taurus 21 April - 21 May
Scorpio 24 October - 22 November
Make the most of this month’s upbeat trends for family get-togethers and pleasurable time in nature. You’ll likely be stirred into action by Mars too, as it encourages you to make a clean sweep and ring in the changes at home at least. If you’re an artist or craftsperson a lively new influence could see you keen to take on projects and get more involved.
You may find your energy levels and confidence improve as Saturn pushes ahead in your sign early in August. However, if you really apply yourself this month this could result in a promotion or see you achieve a long held and key ambition. Your popularity soars too as your social sector shows plenty of sparkle, and just who you know can prove important.
Gemini 22 May - 21 June
Sagittarius 23 November - 21 December
Everyday interactions can lead to positive opportunities and even greater success. You can enhance your good fortune by promoting your goods and services and boldly asking for what you truly want. In addition, Jupiter’s move into Virgo on the 11th can see you keen to invest in emotional bonds, your abode - and perhaps to work from there too.
The call of the wild and a keen desire to explore new territory and expand your horizons may inspire you to make a few plans. Restlessness could be an issue though, but can be resolved by stepping up your exercise regime. However, this month is also a good time to make the most of your love of wider vistas, travel and exploration in general. A change at work may support this.
Cancer 22 June - 23 July
Capricorn 22 December - 20 January
Money matters take on a lively quality from August 8th as Mars encourages you to tackle any desire you have to improve your lot and consider ways to enhance your income. However, lucrative opportunities may be more available if you’re willing to upgrade your skill-set. Pleasingly, Saturn’s forward motion can see some recent frustrations start to fade away.
You’ll be keen for your money to work harder for you, with actions targeted at enhancing income and making wise investments. Even so, you’ll still need to guard against overly impulsive purchases. Meanwhile, Jupiter glides into Virgo from August 11th, and this can encourage study for fun or as a way of getting ahead with your career.
Leo 24 July - 23 August
Aquarius 21 January - 19 February
You’ll be in your element and keen to take part in projects and plans that have personal significance. The more “hands on” your involvement is, the happier you’ll likely be Leo. As Jupiter enters Virgo your confidence in your self-worth and personal value can also improve. Any recent extra family responsibilities can also begin to ease.
Relationships seem largely upbeat. Someone may also take it upon themselves to motivate you to action - if they think you aren’t doing enough. How will you react? There’s certainly plenty to keep you busy. With fortune bringer Jupiter relocating on the 11th, your long term financial prospects look more positive than they have in some time, and will see a lessening in anxiety and can bring a sense of relief.
Virgo 24 August - 23 September
Pisces 20 February - 20 March
Though busy, you'll continue to benefit by enjoying some down time when you can, as doing so allows creative ideas and useful insights to spring to mind. Delightfully, lucky Jupiter’s grand entrance and return to your sign for the first time in twelve years on August 11th, can coincide with a fortuitous coincidence and there’s a lot more to come in the next year.
As Mars enters Leo you may feel like exercising more regularly, whether this involves walking, aerobic workouts, or doing a much loved sport. You can also find yourself somewhat competitive which could improve your chances of getting ahead at work, especially if you can show real commitment. A lovely change from August 11th can also boost personal relationships and could bring love into your life in the next year.
