THE BENJAMIN FOUNDATION

Issue 49 2017
The Benjamin Foundation News We seem to be all about fundraising in beautiful locations and secret gardens this year with Stody Lodge and Bishops House Gardens which are not normally open to the public! We are also delighted to be hosting our annual walk in the stunning grounds of Sandringham.
Sandringham Country Park confirmed as venue for our 2017 Butterfly Walk We’re pleased to announce our fourth annual Butterfly Walk fundraising event will take place at Sandringham Country Park on Sunday 25th June.
Each year we put on our Butterfly Walk at a different venue and this year it is the turn of West Norfolk to play host. The walk takes its name from our bright butterfly logo although you may well see butterflies on the route too! The Walk will follow one of Sandringham’s trails and is around 3 miles long taking you through the beautiful woodland. Along the route there will be signs with quiz questions for adults and children to answer with prizes for the best set of answers in each age group.
Chris Elliott, our marketing and fundraising manager explained how the funds would be used “As well as being a great way to spend a few hours with friends and family our Butterfly Walk is an important way of raising money. This year some of the funds will be used to help young people we work with in King’s Lynn. One of our services there, Butterfly House, provides a home and support to vulnerable young people aged between 16 and 24 years old including some with learning difficulties. Some extra funds will enable us to improve the garden area and purchase a shed to store the young people’s bikes securely.”

Clapham & Collinge Solicitors have kindly agreed to be the main sponsors of the Butterfly Walk. The firm have supported us for several years and are now backing this event as their marketing manager Louis Hilldrup-Boorman explained “At Clapham & Collinge, we take our corporate responsibility very seriously.

HOOTZ HOUSE
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Issue 49 2017
Pensthorpe’s Indoor Adventure World Wins National Building Award Hootz House, Pensthorpe Natural Park’s iconic adventure play centre has won a national building award. The popular north Norfolk play barn beat off competition from around Great Britain to be named best Recreation & Leisure project of the year by the Rural and Industrial Design and Building Association. Bespoke framework for the innovative project was constructed by Hingham-based steel-framed building specialists A C Bacon Engineering in conjunction with the primary contractor Bunting & Son. Hootz House was one of seven category winners in the biennial awards, held to recognise innovation and excellence in the industrial and agricultural building industry. The Cardiff awards ceremony was hosted by TV personality Kate Humble - a regular visitor to Pensthorpe as part of the Springwatch team between 2008 and 2010.
The award was collected by AC Bacon Commercial Director Barry Tipple and Senior Sales Engineer Wesley Baines. “Hootz House was a great project to work on we enjoy fabricating unconventional frames,” said Mr Tipple. “As the finished building looks great and has such an unusual structure we decided to enter it in the awards. It’s a credit to all parties involved - Pensthorpe Natural Park, ourselves, architect Adam Khan, structural engineers Structure Workshop and builders Bunting & Son. Drew Payne, Commercial Director at Pensthorpe said: “We’re delighted that Hootz House is being recognised for its groundbreaking design and quality build. We wanted to develop a truly unique environment for both children and adults that would inspire and allow them to explore and enjoy this wonderful space together.

“We are aiming to provide a quality experience in everything that we do here at Pensthorpe, so this award is a fantastic achievement to the hard-working team that made it happen and without doubt they have achieved the excellent quality we were seeking.” The £1m Hootz House is a nature-themed indoor play area, designed to inspire and engage the next generation of nature lovers and conservationists, teaching them to care for the environment. Built from sustainably-sourced timber, the cladding of Hootz House is perforated with holes to create a habitat for bird and insect life. RIDBA judges praised Hootz House for its excellent attention to detail and dedicated craftsmanship within its rural wildlife centre setting. They highlighted its abundant environmental qualities, including excellent daylight, natural ventilation, controlled sunlight and high thermal insulation. The judges also noted the use of rainwater to help water the surrounding plants. Hootz House offers visitors of all ages a rich, sensory connection to the environment and landscape. It’s a 300-square metre wild world, inviting imaginative play, with mysterious tunnels to explore, rope bridges to cross, tree towers to climb and winding slides to descend back to ground level.

Everything has been designed so that parents and grandparents can join in the fun, making it a memorable fun family experience. There is an array of soft play equipment for toddlers and under 5s. “Hootz House is also a great venue for children’s birthday parties and there’s even been some corporate team building sessions held here, as part of a private hire package we offer,” said Drew Payne. Hootz House is part of a bigger masterplan to further extend the families offering at Pensthorpe, home to the Pensthorpe Conservation Trust and winner of the Best Large Attraction in the EDP Tourism Awards in 2014 and 2015. Issue 49 2017
PR Practitioner Nominated For National Award CAT shortlisted for CIPR Excellence Award A Norfolk PR consultant has been nominated for a prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Award in the category of Outstanding Independent Practitioner. Allison Thomas, (pictured right) owner of PR agency CAT, has been nominated for the national award which is the longest-running and most-rigorously assessed awards in public relations. Now in its 33rd year, the CIPR Excellence Awards showcase the highest levels of professional achievement from PR professionals and teams across the UK and throughout the world. The Awards are distinguished by their unerring commitment to professional standards and Allison is only one of six making the shortlist for the Outstanding Independent Practitioner award and faces a stringent interview next month with a panel of esteemed judges. “I am absolutely thrilled to be up for this award,” commented Allison. “Over my 20 years in the communications industry I have won many awards for my clients and also the business teams I’ve been part of but this is the first time that I have been nominated for in my own name, which makes it particularly special. “The competition for industry awards is always so high with fabulous campaigns by big named brands leading the way so to be considered for this award and recognised amongst the very best in the UK is an enormous accolade.” The annual CIPR Excellence Awards received in the region of 550 entries from public relations teams, consultancies and individuals throughout the UK across 29 categories with only 125 of these being shortlist for the final awards.

Chairs of Judges for the CIPR Excellence Awards, Paul Mylrea and Sandra Macleod, said: “Being praised by friends and clients is pleasant but the praise that really counts is from your peers. That’s why the CIPR Excellence Awards have become the way to demonstrate best practice, to showcase best work, and to set the path for other PR practitioners to follow. “Winning is not all. Taking part and getting shortlisted is a huge achievement, especially as the standard is rising year on year. Each year, panels of experienced judges interview entrants in depth, probing their understanding of innovation, implementation and impact. Good luck to all of our finalists - you are shining examples of professional excellence.” During Allison’s career, she has worked client side in senior positions for blue chip companies like the energy giant E.ON, the international holiday exchange company RCI, and the sector skills council for construction, CITB. She has also worked with many regional agencies as well as top London names like Saatchis, Ogilvy & Mather, and Publicis on campaigns for brands such as British Airways, the Liberal Democrats, Sheraton Hotels, the Sea Cadets, and the National Anti-Fraud Network. “I’m looking forward to getting the opportunity to discuss with the judge's recent areas of work which I am particularly proud of,” continued Allison, “such as tutoring for Cambridge Marketing College and Lincoln University, chatting on Star Radio 107.9FM, and working on the incredibly successful campaign Size Matters for Structure-flex and Nick Elliott rock art photographer last year.”

Celebrities Urge You To Get Brunching For Charity
Theo Michaels
Duchenne charity, Harrison’s Fund, is asking everyone across the UK to show off their brunch-tastic skills this June and take part in the charity’s Harrison’s Brunch to raise vital money for research into the life-limiting disease. This year’s campaign is being supported by Celebrity Chef, Author and Father of three, Theo Michaels and Good Morning Britain TV presenter, Charlotte Hawkins. Theo said: “It’s an honour to support Harrison’s Brunch. As a dad of three young children, this campaign really resonates with me and I
can’t even begin to imagine what Alex and the thousands of parents of children with Duchenne are going through every day. When I look at photos of Harrison I’m always inspired by his character and heartbroken to know how much he is affected by this disease and how much worse it will get in the future without any breakthroughs. Which is where everyone can help, even just a little. “I encourage people across the UK to get brunching this June and host their own event – you don’t need to be a professional cook to make some fantastic brunch treats and all the money raised will make a real difference to the lives

The money raised will go towards funding for an anti-fibrotic drug project to research and produce a drug which could be beneficial to all children with Duchenne. This anti-fibrotic drug will aim to improve muscle repair and regeneration - meaning with hope, boys with Duchenne will carry on walking and living for longer and can continue to just be boys.

To help make every brunch a huge success, the charity has put together a fundraising kit, jam-packed full of materials including bunting, posters, name cards and celebrity recipes to inspire the brunches.
of thousands of children with this life-limiting disease.” Charlotte added: "As a mum I am always keen to support charities who make a difference to the lives of children, and I was particularly touched by Harrison's story. So, whether you’re the next Master Chef champion, or are just beginning your cooking adventures, Harrison’s Brunch is the perfect opportunity for a get together with friends and family for a wonderful cause. So, get poaching those eggs and flipping those pancakes and help us raise money to find a cure for this fatal disease once and for all.” Harrison’s Fund is named after the ten-year-old Harrison Smith from Surrey who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic condition which affects all the muscles in the body, causing them to waste away. Harrison’s Fund’s goal is to get as much money as possible into the hands of the world’s best researchers, who are working to find a cure for Duchenne. The charity is currently funding 12 research projects in the US and the UK. Whether cooking, baking or frying, every brunch held will make a huge difference to thousands of children from across the UK suffering from this disease.
Sylvia Hallahan, fundraiser at Harrison’s Fund said: “At Harrison's Fund we believe that spending time with your loved ones is one of the most important things you can do, that's why this June we want everyone to hold a brunch with your friends and family and raise money to help us fund potentially lifesaving treatments with all those with Duchenne. It's that's simple. “The idea was inspired by our very own little chef in the making, Harrison, who (under Alex's very watchful eye) loves to cook up a feast for his family at the weekend. So why not show off your brunch-tastic skills and take part!” About Harrison’s Fund Harrison's Fund was set up in 2011 up by Alex and Donna Smith, in response to their son Harrison being diagnosed with Duchenne, a type of muscular dystrophy. Its aim is to raise money to fund the world's best researchers, who are working to find a cure for the disease. The charity is currently funding 12 research projects in the US and the UK. Duchenne is a fatal neuromuscular condition caused by the lack of a protein called dystrophin which results in progressive muscle weakness. One in 3,500 boys is born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in the United Kingdom, each year. Their average lifespan is just mid-twenties and it is 100% fatal. Harrison’s Fund is different from many other Duchenne charities out there because it focuses on trying to find a cure for the disease rather than on palliative care. www.harrisonsfund.com PAGE

SORT OUT YOUR LIFE
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Issue 49 2017
Sort Out Your Life And Thrive Are you one of those people who get up in the morning and start the day already feeling hassled? Maybe you can't decide what to wear, where to start, what to do first. Feeling that way can introduce a frustrating tone to the day, even before you've left the bathroom. Sometimes we need to take time to de-clutter, to clear our minds and our lives of the stuff that's surplus to requirements, the things that are getting in the way of us leading fulfilling, more productive lives. • I bet we all know people who have several wardrobes, stuffed full of clothes. Women will often have outfits in several sizes that are waiting for the weight to be lost so that they can fit into them again. Few of us wear our clothes till they're threadbare and many of those hardly worn outfits may well be loved, meaning that we're unwilling to simply pass them onto a charity shop. But, when we lose that weight we'd
probably want to celebrate and buy fresh new clothes, not wear something that's been in the cupboard for a year or two! If we're disinclined to give prized outfits to a charity shop or sell them online why not search out those organisations that give clothes to people who have been out of work for a while, who want to go for interviews but can't afford to replace their stay-at-home wardrobe with smart business clothes. In doing that, we know they're going to a good home and will be put to good use. Why not save time and stress by introducing a workday regime with your clothes. A recent survey disclosed that women spend eight hours a month deciding what to wear. You could improve efficiency by selecting your outfit the night before or by introducing a uniform colour like black, so that you can get up and dress without too much thought.

SORT OUT YOUR LIFE
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
• Food can be another area of clutter-stress. How many of us simply shop and buy the same things week in, week out without really checking what we need? I bet I'm not the only person who's arrived home to discover that I've already got two bags of carrots or enough cereal for the next few weeks. Shopping on auto-pilot may seem like a quick way to get an onerous chore out of the way but it's not always constructive and can lead to lots of kitchen clutter. Be firm about using a shopping list. Even if you shop online it can be helpful to have a wipeboard or system where family members note down when something needs replacing. This list can be the basis for a final check before items are replenished. • Books are often much-loved and many people are loathe to let them go, unless we're talking about the pot-boiler paperbacks bought on holiday. If your home is cluttered with too many books why not pass them on to somewhere where they'll raise money for charity. Some Leisure Centres and hospitals have libraries where readers choose the books they want, make a donation in the charity box and often return them once they've been read. Everyone benefits! • It's great to have friends and be popular, with lots of people and arrangements clamouring for your time and attention, but if the pressure of maintaining them is becoming overwhelming it can be useful to step back and check which of these commitments you really want in your life. Just like the old Christmas card list, sometimes
Issue 49 2017
it's necessary to delete a few names and let go of the people or plans we automatically commit to, without much enthusiasm. Be firm about the number of appointments you clutter your diary with that are tedious or outgrown. Or you could plan events for several of your friends to enjoy together, so maximising your time spent socialising whilst also extending your friends' social circles. That way you'll have more time to spend on the things that are important, or even be able to take a little time for yourself to relax. • If you find you're regularly stressed out, perhaps so much that's it's affecting your mood, sleep and even your health, you may need to focus on mentally de-cluttering. Again, lists can introduce discipline. Write down all that's on your mind. It may take some time and perhaps several sheets of paper, but by doing this you can be reassured that you won't forget anything and don't need to keep things in your head. Each evening prioritise your list of activities for the following day. Yes, new things will crop up throughout the day, but you'll be in a better place mentally to be able to renegotiate your list and find ways to accommodate any important new demands. De-cluttering your life gives you better control. After all, if you wanted to make a meal or start an important piece of work you'd most likely want a clean, clear place from which to start. A little de-cluttering helps you achieve better results and enjoy each experience.

SOCIAL MEDIA
www.icenimagazine.co.uk
Issue 49 2017
How To Spot Social Media Phishing Requests We all like to think we’re savvy but even the most cautious of us have nearly been duped by these social media based phishing scams and they’re getting more sophisticated and official than ever before. If you’ve heard the term ‘Phishing’ but don’t know what it is - essentially, it's when a person or group attempts to get you to divulge personal information with them (via emails, tweets, posts etc) while they’re pretending to be an official business or reputable person - which they’ll then use to commit financial or identity fraud with. Whatever form these phishing attempts take, all of these will try to play on your fears of safety or trust and almost all will require ‘immediate action’ from you. The most common examples of phishing are:
• In-account DMs, New follower or link clicking requests - these appear directly in your social account feed, are targeted and generally are trying to entice you to click the link/image/video contained in them or get you to call a telephone number. Beware though, if you click the link in these you could be making your account vulnerable. • Connection request emails - these are predominantly associated with Linkedin.
• Account Suspended / Security Warning emails - these can pretend to be from the social networks and claim to be notifying you that there’s an issue with your account and you need to login to your account via the link in the email to confirm your details. Remember no

reputable social platform will ever ask you for your password details or credit card details so proceed with caution. So, what should you do or look out for? 1. Don’t click on links in posts, tweets or DM’s unless you’re 100% sure they are genuine. If it’s just a link don’t click it. If it’s from a person you seemingly recognise (i.e. a follower) but it’s unusual for them to contact you in this way, contact them via other means, to confirm they sent it.
2. If it’s an unusual connection request check within the platform whether you even know the person and if you actually have any shared connections/followers. Remember don’t go via the connection request itself but via the social platform. 3. If in any doubt about the post, tweet or DM check out the users profile - this will generally flag up any concerns. Check their feed and followers. 4. If you’re sent a suspicious email never click on a link in it without first looking closely at the content:
• Does the ‘from’ email address look like it's actually from the social platform i.e.. @twitter.com - check the header information and hover over it to reveal the real email address.

• Does the email name you by person?
• If you’re on desktop PC hover over the ‘call to action’ button/link (they’ll all have one). Look at the url displayed - generally these’ll bear no resemblance to the real network. Hover over the link, and refer to the status bar at the bottom of your browser window to make sure the link actually, goes to the place shown in the email.
5. If you’ve had an ‘account suspended’ email or similar type of email, take a step back and consider if the social platform would actually contact you in this manner. If in doubt go to the social platforms website and check out how they would contact you. All social platforms would have these details. You can get further information on how the platforms would contact you from the following urls:

You might have ignored these requests in the past but try to add a second contact option for the social platform to contact you by. Adding an alternative email or telephone number to your account will allow you to quickly and easily update/revise your login details yourself if you’ve just forgotten your password or you’re concerned about security. You’d be surprised to find out how difficult it can be to update your password or retrieve it without this second communication option! Twitter: @icenimagazine
What to do if you suspect a phishing scam 1. Do NOT enter into any form of communication with the supposed sender of the phishing scam.
2. Report it directly to the social network via their reporting steps or via the app itself. 3. Remove or block the connection.
4. If you feel your account could have been compromised immediately change your password details and, if available, enable twostep authentication.
5. If you think you’ve been financially scammed report it to Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud reporting centre http://www.actionfraud.police. uk/ Their website has lots of advice and details on the latest scams to be wary of. The Diary of a Norfolk Family. By Mark King Above: Mark King
As I left the tarmac runway at Tenerife airport and walked up the stairs to the plane it was a very warm 30 degrees, four hours later when I walked down the steps towards the tarmac at Norwich airport it a very chilly 8 degrees. I was soon ruffling in my hand luggage for my light jacket to put on as we queued for the door to the terminal building. It's always been traditional since the wife and I first met that we leave behind our phones when we travel abroad, and as electronic devices are very quickly taking over our lives that now means other things like note pads etc. We go off-grid as they say. So as we locked our suitcases ready to take to reception early on the morning of our return flight we had no idea what weather to expect when we returned to the U.K. No one normally wants their holiday to end so I returned home in a pair of deck shoes, shorts, and T-Shirt; not the sort of clothing that keeps you warm on dull grey windy cold day. The wife was more pragmatic on her return so dressed appropriately to cover most weather options, and as I shivered outside the entrance to passport control the wife gave me a look that only women seem to be able to give. I desperately tried to act as if the cold had no effect on me, but it was not going to fool the wife. She kept giving me that look while staying completely silent, knowing full well that no words were needed. If only I had listened to her back in the hotel room then I would not now be shivering. I knew she was right and she knew too. There’s only one thing worse than your partner being right and yourself wrong, and that is when they are proved to be right as well, and this was one such occasion. Once again she was right. www.always-hanging-around.blogspot.com Follow on twitter: @author_king PAGE

The only way is tango Now I used to be partial to the occasional spray tan. Being one shade away from albino, I have gone through life having to endure people questioning if I am Above: Keri Beevis ill because I look so pale. Yes, yes of course I am ill. I am suffering from that terrible disease called whiteness! As my 40th birthday approached I decided to have a party to celebrate, because my theory on growing older has always been that locking yourself away in a dark room and crying for your lost youth will not magically stop time, so you may as well milk birthdays for all they are worth. Besides, shouldn’t we celebrate getting older when so many others are denied the chance? Anyway, big party meant slinky little party dress and, given that mine was purple, I ran the risk of looking like a member of the Addams Family if I didn’t get the tan, so together with my pals, Hannah and Ness, we booked ourselves an appointment two days before the party. Not our usual salon, but they had a deal on and we are girls who love a bargain. The day arrived and we went through the usual routine, stripping, moisturising, everyone having a good laugh at my humongous water melons - especially as I had to hold them up during the spraying part to avoid getting a white tummy (an important lesson learnt from a previous tanning experience) and we Twitter: @icenimagazine
left an hour later looking as though we had been mud wrestling. So far, so normal. A couple of hours later the texting started. Hannah was getting paranoid as she was looking too patchy. I assured her the patchiness would disappear when she showered the next morning. Ness and I were also, a bit patchy, but confident all was okay. Hannah remained unconvinced. The next morning - 24hrs before the party – my tan had developed. Well... I use the word ‘tan’ loosely. Looking in the mirror I saw the reflection of an oompa loompa staring back. Actually, it was worse than that. It looked like someone had taken about five oompa loompas and thrown them into a blender with David Hasselhoff, Dale Winton and a bag of oranges. I had literally been tangoed. Much of the day was spent showering and scrubbing, but to no avail. If anything, my orangeness continued to develop and by the time my party arrived I looked like the frigging sun and I was nicely clashing with my purple dress. Fortunately, I was not alone and together with Hannah and Ness we attended my party as Team Tango. The lights were dim so I don’t think anyone got too much of a fright on the night, but the photos tell a different story and everyone looked like they were partying with the Ready Brek kids. Needless to say, I have been scared off by spray tans for the foreseeable future.

Jaguar XJ R-Sport Review Reviewed by Tim Barnes-Clay, Motoring Journalist Twitter @carwriteups | www.carwriteups.co.uk Jaguars are well-known for their graceful lines - and the XJ, with its lithe, modern-day style, backs that up.
Dressed powerfully, the car comes with a rear spoiler, privacy glass, a gloss black rear valance and ‘R’ style aerodynamic side sills.
The robust, brawny lower section of the Jaguar XJ is juxtaposed with the slender and beautiful quality of the car’s roofline, which takes encouragement from the 1968 Jaguar XJ saloon. The front of the car is very authoritative with a big grill and an emphatic face.
Step inside, and the whole impression is one of personal space - a feeling heightened by the form of the leather-enveloped instrument panel sitting low across the Jaguar XJ. The soft grain hide upholstery features adjustable side bolsters that provide you and your and passenger with excellent lateral support during hard cornering. The finishing touch is provided by Jaguar’s 'R-Sport' logo, which appears on the tread plates, side power vents and steering wheel.
At the back, the Jaguar XJ has a wholesome, chiselled shape, with a welcome lack of gratuitous ornamentation. The sheet metal of the rear panel keeps its pure form, with a single leaping Jaguar motif making a solid, assured statement. The LED light clusters drape tastefully over the rear wings. It’s all tremendously attractive. The XJ R-Sport, driven for this test, has a more athletic look than the standard model. Basically, this is jaguar’s take on BMW’s M Sport series.

The engine, supported by dual turbochargers, thrusts the XJ from zero to 62mph in 6.2 secs
uses pleasingly detailed virtual instruments, delivers all the functions performed by longestablished dials. It creates a genuine sense of drama, but more significantly it works well. Under the hood, the Jaguar XJ profits from a formidable and resourceful 3.0-litre V6 power unit, linked up to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The engine, supported by dual turbochargers, thrusts the XJ from zero to 62mph in 6.2 secs, then on to a maximum speed of 155mph. The Jag feels every bit as quick behind the wheel as it advocates it is on paper; it is a splendid sensation - evocative of taking off in an airliner. But, as anyone who is into prestige car selling or leasing, will explain; it certainly isn’t all about clout. On the move in the big cat, the low amount of tyre-roar and wind whistle means you can chinwag with your passengers without raising your voice. Even when you sink your right foot into the Jaguar XJ’s deep carpet there’s not much more than a low rumble from the twin tail pipes. indeed, it is very hard to tell it apart from a petrol-propelled XJ, once it is munching the motorway miles. Undeniably, the Jaguar XJ makes every journey an outstanding one, both for you and your fellow travellers, but this level of classiness doesn’t come bargain-basement. You must forkout over £70,000 for the R-Sport 3.0 V6 diesel version of the Jaguar XJ. But, buying or leasing an XJ is the way to go if you want power, luxury, sophistication and a British icon in your life! Twitter: @icenimagazine

Never Lose That Pen Again with Cross Peerless Trackr A few weeks back I was invited to London to attend the launch of the new Cross Peerless Trackr, the worlds first trackable pen. Cross have been making writing instruments since 1846, so it was a pleasant surprise to see an established traditional brand embracing technology without losing what makes the company appealing. The pen has Bluetooth technology carefully embedded inside it which works alongside what's called 'Crowd GPS'. This means that if you are unfortunate enough to misplace you pen or worse have it stolen, a league of other Trackr users immediately start helping your reunite your prized pen. When a person running the Trackr app comes within up to 30 metres of your pen, they detect it and immediately an anonymous message is sent to you informing you of its current position.
Upon receiving the notification, you can then go to that location and using the app on your own phone, you cause the pen to light up and sound an alarm to give you an indication of its exact position, after a little bit of searching or discussion with its new temporary owner, the pen can be returned to you. Conversely, the pen itself can be used to locate your phone, so if you are hunting around the house in the morning for your mobile, simply hold down the button on the side of the pen and your phone will start ringing! The pen itself comes in a very nice presentation box along with instructions for pairing and using the pen, spare batteries, a nice suede case sleeve for the pen and your guarantee from Cross. Once taken out of the box, the pen feels just weighty enough to feel comfortable and writes smoothly. As a pen on its own, it was nice and of course, the 'techie' addition of the tracking

appealed to me too. You should bear in mind that the crowd GPS functionality requires a 'crowd', so losing it in the middle of a deserted field isn't going to help. Saying that, most towns have a large number of Trackr users and Central London was packed with them. You can even see how many people use Trackr by visiting their website. If you are looking for a high-end pen for meetings or a nice birthday or anniversary gift for someone, look no further than the Cross Peerless Trackr 125 Pen, available from all good pen shops for around ÂŁ212.00.

NOVA SILVER

Nova Silver
The beginning of Spring always brings around a lot of customers who are beginning to look for inspiration for wedding jewellery, whether as a guest, part of the wedding party, or the Bride herself, and we’re always so excited to help a couple pick out jewellery. We thought this month we’d pop together a list of suggestions for bridesmaid's gifts that we hope will give inspiration, and suit a range of styles and budgets. Themed - Gifts of jewellery for bridesmaids are always appreciated, and are special pieces that will hold memories of that day for years to come. The temptation is always to gift matching pieces for all bridesmaids, but we often recommend choosing a theme (for example all hearts, all pearls, or all purple) and then selecting different jewellery for each person. This enables you to have a unified look, while still enabling the bridesmaid to keep her own style and to give her a gift that is more tailored to her. Pearls - Pearls are a classic wedding option, and can offer an elegant and subtle look that will suit any number of dresses. A classic single pearl pendant is always stylish, but for a more modern wedding, why not think about a more design led setting using pearls? This gives a classic look a more updated feel. Textured silver - Textured silver is a great way to bring an element of glimmer and shimmer without the bling. Stick with simple designs in hammered finish to offer an unusual, stylish look with maximum elegance. Nature inspired - As the trends in weddings shift towards more bespoke and personalised, we’ve noticed a real move towards more personalised and unusual jewellery. Nature inspired pieces have proven themselves to be really well received, whether using a floral motif, or even our little ammonite studs. Keep the jewellery discreet and something a little different can prove really effective!

Nibbles &Tipples May Article By Cheryl Cade
Breakfast Beer! Yes, you read that correctly.
For some of us this might seem strange yet go back only 150 years and we all could have had Ale or Beer for breakfast! Including children, this would be paired with gruel or bread and was low in alcohol. Some say this is because water was not safe to drink, not quite true unless you lived in big cities. So, what has brought this subject to my mind? Bank holidays and Beer Festivals.
This is the time of year when I seem to have time for the occasional treat of a cooked breakfast. Whether on the campfire, at home or from my favourite cafe. I especially like a nice breakfast after a beer festival and we are at that time again. Yet I never really thought of having a beer with my breakfast until I recalled a conversation with a traveller on one of my tours. It was in the early morning and I saw him heading out, I asked him

Pale Ale does a good balancing act with most foods where he was going and he replied, ‘To get my breakfast beer’. There are now lots of great pubs doing breakfasts, chains like Wetherspoons; but also for example, The Rosebery, Plasterers and Gonzos. Great places for beer so why not ditch the cuppa for a beer? If you want to feel like you are still having a coffee try something like a rich Coffee Stout. A local example would be the award winning Kofra Stout from Redwell, pictured right (also Gluten Free). If you are having Croissants or pancakes try

chocolate Porters or light spritzy fruit beers. They will give you that sweet sugar fix but also clean and freshen the palate.
Recently I have enjoyed breakfast at, The Street Cafe (Magdalen Street, Norwich). A traditional ‘Fry-up’ with extra mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. On this occasion, I had a cup of tea but, I could not help wondering what beer I would like? Something to bring out the flavour of the bacon mushrooms and yet could still balance the tomatoes.
Pale Ale does a good balancing act with most foods. There is malt with some balanced hop bitterness. To keep everything local I would pick maybe a Humpty Dumpty East Anglian Pale Ale.
Ruths Kitchen
Another breakfast beer would be Panther Red, which would pair well with the lovely Shakzouka that I enjoyed at Ruth's Kitchen (Middle Eastern food). This is a dish that hugs you from the pan. Rich tomato sauce with a wealth of vegetables including potato, topped with poached eggs and partnered with flat bread (which is good if you are my husband and like to wipe the bowl clean).
This dish is packed full of flavour yet disguises how healthy it is. I could never be the Breakfast Inspector (if you are not a follower, look them up on Facebook) but, I will keep practicing. The Street Cafe

Old Buckenham Players Caught In The Net Ray Cooney Classic Farce: Part II Old Buckenham Players are back with their latest offering 'Caught In The Net' by Ray Cooney, a tremendously frenetic farce which is the sequel to 'Run For Your Wife' that they performed last year to great acclaim. Cooney is renound for his comedy, timing and his superb writing, often refered to as our Nation's best-loved farce writer. Following John Smith's bigamy almost being unearthed in 1982, this sequel takes place 18 years later with the same four principle characters; John, Stanley, Mary and Barbara (played by the same actors & actresses) embroiled in yet another one of John's frantic and desperate cover-ups. Two best friends, two wives, two home addresses and now to add to the mix, Vicky and Gavin......two children! We follow Stanley's desperate attempts to aid John in masking the truth to all who find themselves caught up in the desperate confusion. The last thing Stanley would need would be for his Dad to arrive on the scene...! This then ensures that the lies and get-outs get more hilarious, ridiculous and far-fetched which provides side-splitting comedy for the audience to enjoy. Although a sequel, it is easily enjoyed and more than stands alone in its own right. However, should you wish to 'catch up' on the goings-on from 18 years previous (or indeed refresh your memories if you were lucky enough to catch 'Run For Your Wife' last year), we've a video on our Facebook page which should give you a good introduction in to the life of John Smith ahead of this latest twist in his already manic existence. There are laughs-a-plenty in this wonderfully written and pain-stakingly rehearsed farce which if the audience have had as much fun as the cast and crew have had producing it, they're sure to have a fantastic night! Performances start at 7.30pm on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th & Saturday 20th of May 2017. It's all taking place at Old Buckenham Village Hall where there'll be a raffle and a very reasonably priced bar serving a range of soft and alcoholic drinks. Tickets are on sale now and cost just ÂŁ8. They can be purchased by calling 01953 861336 or in person from Old Buckenham Village Stores or Nuts 'n' Bolts in Attleborough. www.oldbuckenhamplayers.co.uk

A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG by Peter Nichols Directed by Donna Triggs 26 May 7.30pm & 27 May 2.30 & 7.30pm The Garage, Norwich Pictured Moira Hickson (Joesephine) Robin Watson (Bri) Lois Entwistle (Shelia) Image Credit: Reflective Arts
Josephine has been severely disabled from birth and is confined to a wheelchair. Her mother Sheila still lives in hope of a 'miracle' recovery, but her school-teacher father Bri, appears to have given up, and hides his despair behind irreverent humour and non-PC joking. The couple face a daily challenge, trying to maintain their affection for each other whilst caring full-time for Joe. Well-meaning but ultimately ignorant friends try to help - but their interference only pushes the family towards chaos, fracture, and an action they might never recover from. The play, a black comedy, walks the tightrope between comedy and heartbreak. Written in 1967, the play expresses language and sentiment that makes modern audiences flinch. Goblin Market Theatre Company is re-visiting the play in conjunction with The Hamlet Charity to ask: "How far have attitudes to the disabled changed since the play was written?"
I found Nichols work particularly exciting set against the love and hope ethos of the sixties, and from there it inspired me to work in the disability sector’. Both the evening performances will be followed by a Question & Answer session attended by actors, director and members of The Hamlet to which all audience members are welcome to attend. Donna Triggs, director says 'As a sufferer of long-term illness myself, I wanted to direct this play because it forces us to face up to the taboos of disability. Using laughter and impiety as its vehicle, the play forces us see both the heartbreak and humour involved in living with terminal illness and disability. It is a play about quiet desperation, but most of all about tenderness, love and compassion.'
Etta Geras who is playing Grace in the play said ‘Reading the play originally is something that made me want to be involved in theatre.

If there is a relationship which seems too restrictive, this can be a telling moment. Getting to the roots of any relationship issues will really compel you in the last week.
