Sydney Webb LAS VEGAS MODEL

Sydney Webb 17 years old from Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been modeling for 3 years. How I started modeling was a friend’s mom was doing a photoshoot and she asked me to be part of it. A magazine saw the pictures and put them in the magazine and the rest is history. I also do runway modeling. Outside of modeling I am a college student. I am learning to design and make clothing.

PHOTO: VON DONALD

Story of the photoshoot Ray Urner and I had been planning this photoshoot for months, as he lives in Canada, and I live in Nevada. We always try to do a photoshoot when he comes to visit as we both like doing more artist photoshoots. I had been really wanting to do a steampunk look and when I explained this to him, he was all on board. Then we had to wait until the boarders opened back up. When he knew his travel dates, we set up our day to shoot. As I had not seen him in a while, we had to have our normal talk of our love for food. We walked to different location on the Las Vegas Strip. (If you have ever done a photoshoot on the Las Vegas Strip you will understand this next part.) As soon as you set up for the perfect shot someone will walk in front of the camera or the try to be part of the photoshoot. So, we knew that we had to be quick when we had the location for that perfect photo. Good thing Ray and I have worked together before as he knew how to keep the atmosphere fun. We had people stopping us and asking questions and taking pictures with their phones. Ray does not direct me in the poses that I do he just lets me tell the story in the poses. He can catch the right pose to create the concept that I wanted without even knowing it. I can always tell when he has the shoot he wants because you can see the happiness in, he actions. People see our photos and think that we send the day together shooting and it is usually a couple hours. There is so much more that I could talk about this shoot but I do not know if I could put it into words. You can follow me on IG at:

MODEL SYDNEY WEBB

ICONIQUE MAGAZINE INTERVIEWS SYDNEY WEBB ICONIQUEMAG How long have you been modeling and why did you want to become a model? SYDNEY I have been modeling for 3 years now. I never really wanted to become a model it just pretty much happened from doing a photoshoot with a friend’s mom. ICONIQUEMAG Have you traveled outside of your home city for modeling. If so, what was the experience? If not, what is keeping you from exploring new worlds? SYDNEY Yes, I have traveled outside of my hometown to do some modeling jobs. It was fun, I like new adventures and working with new people. ICONIQUEMAG Have you been trained to model or are you self-taught? Please expound SYDNEY I am self taught, I did recently do a online training class with Coco Rocha. That was an amazing experience. It was a game changer for me. ICONIQUEMAG Have you been to NYFW? If so, who did you walk for and what was the experience. SYDNEY No, unfortunately I have not been to NYFW. It is one of my goals to reach. So, if anyone is looking for a model…. ICONIQUEMAG If you had the opportunity to walk in any fashion model shoes, who would it be and why? SYDNEY After thinking about they question at first, I was going to name someone, but I am happy walking in my own shoes and working for all the opportunities that I am given. ICONIQUEMAG What’s your reaction if Tyra Banks messaged you right now? What would be your return text? SYDNEY If Tyra Banks messaged me right now, I think I would cry, as she is someone not only as a model I look up to but she is also a great business women. I would tell her that I admire her, and everything has done. ICONIQUEMAG Have you worked with any major fashion outlets? SYDNEY I have not worked with any major fashion outlets, but I have work with a lot of amazing designers like Blazzian Collection, Themoonandleo, Sharnel Guy just to name a few, they are on their way to being major fashion outlets.

ICONIQUEMAG What was your favorite photography experience? SYDNEY I can not say that I have one favorite photography experience as from all of them I have learned something from so I would say they are all my favorite for one reason or another. ICONIQUEMAG You mentioned you like food. What is you favorite thing to eat and why? SYDNEY Yes, I am a foodie. My favorite thing to eat I would say Tacos. They are my special food after photoshoots does not matter what time of the day, I always get tacos after. ICONIQUEMAG What can you say to young ladies to encourage then to get into modeling? SYDNEY Do it because it is something you enjoy doing and you want to do. It is not just standing in front of a camera taking pictures, its hard work and you need to have a thick skin. ICONIQUEMAG Any last words? SYDNEY Yes, remember to live your best you!!!!!

As we approach the end of 2021, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably doing some self-reflecting. I used to ask myself questions like; have I been a good and decent human being? Have I given more love than I received? Did I give my best to everyone and everything that I made a commitment to? Have I accomplished the goals that I set? Did I take care of myself first? What did I do to enhance my personal development? But this year was different, yeah it was different. This year, with the mental shift that I’ve experienced, my line of questioning has transformed. As we bring 2021 to a close, the questions I have are more self-centered… did I live a life that brought me joy? Right now, in this moment, am I happy with me? It doesn’t matter who’s not happy with me, who’s not proud of me, who doesn’t like my post or my podcast, etc. When I look in the mirror, into the eyes of the reflection staring back at me, can I genuinely say…you did good, sis? There’s a Tik Tok sound (not sure if it’s origin) that says, “Sis you did a good job,” (and it repeats several times). Ladies and gentlemen, we need to start speaking this mantra over our lives! Now, if you are unable to say that you are happy with you, there’s still time. Ask yourself the question, why? Why are you not happy with you?

I remember when I wasn’t happy with who I was. I wasn’t fulfilled unless I was helping someone resolve their problems. After a while, I began attaching my worth to the number of people I was able to help. While I believe my purpose is to help others, I know now that I was functioning in an unhealthy manner. Helping others meant I didn’t have to deal with my own issues. When I looked deep into the eyes of the reflection in the mirror staring back at me…I didn’t like her. It was my sad reality. I didn’t love myself. I believed in everyone but me. It didn’t matter the accolades that I received. “You’re a great wife.” “You’re an amazing mom.” “Trease gets the job done!” They were band-aids and just like a real band-aid, they would only last for so long. Circling back, what have you done this year to make the life you want? Acknowledge where you are today, genuinely take accountability for your role, make the decision to do something different and then do it. Here are a few steps to help you in your journey of self-development. *Spend time alone; get to know you! Periodically look into the eyes of the reflection in the mirror. No one knows her/him better than you. *Listen to you! Ask yourself what you want and listen to your heart. So often what we are striving to achieve it’s not even what we want. It’s what someone else said we should do or be. *Surround yourself with positive people. People who encourage you to show up, do and be your very best.

REFLECTION IN THE MIRROR

Think about what makes you happy and do that! Sounds simple, right? That’s because it is. We have made life more complicated than it has to be. The great Tupac Shukura poetically proclaimed, “No life is complicated, it’s only what you make it to be (“Ambitionz Az a Ridah” 1996). Key word… You!

*Prioritize, putting you first. You must learn to take care of you first. Don’t let others run you raggedy. Trust me if something happens to you, they will figure it out! I’m not saying don’t show up for others, I’m just saying show up for you first. *Breathe! Literally! I used to find myself sitting in deep thought for periods of time holding my breathe. It became difficult for me to deeply inhale. I would get chest pains chest. I discovered it was stress. As individuals, we should set our own expectations. Mine won’t look like yours and vice versa. You are solely responsible for your desired outcomes, not your mother, father, friends, social media fans, etc. It’s okay not to always get it right; flawless perfection does not exist. At the end of the day, week, month or year it’s ultimately about how you feel about the reflection in the mirror staring back at you. - Author Trease Sears

ICONIQUE MAG INTERVIEWS TERRI STEVENS OF ATLANTA GA ICONIQUEMAG 1. Bring one of most influential people in Atlanta, how do you manage to have a personal life seeing all the things you have done in fashion and for models everywhere? TERRI It’s kind of hard sometimes, but it’s really about turning on and off the business side of this profession. I think another thing that makes it easy for me is that I have a fiance that lives in a different state, so he kind of understands what I do for a living and knows that I’m busy but he also knows that I make time in life for the things that I want. It’s a must for me. Most people respect the fact when I say that Im taking time for me and him or my family I am in desperate need of that personal time. ICONIQUEMAG 2. What are some mistakes that most models do that could hurt or tarnish their careers? TERRI Not being on time, a bad attitude, disrespectful behavior, and not taking criticism and direction well. ICONIQUEMAG 3. Is Model training necessary? Please explain why it is. TERRI Yes Yes and Yes and one more time for the people in the back..Yes!! Why because it critical to becoming a industry professional. It takes training dedication and lots of investing in your craft. Everything is done better with the proper training...Real Talk!!

TERRI Deb Bonified Fran- she is such a hard worker and she is driven and patronage about her modeling career. Loucinda No Regrets- has been with me from day one! And sometimes believes in me and my vision more then I do myself. Della Reeves- one of the sweetest people I know always there when you need her and has put in the work in this industry. Tenacity Love- is the MVP for me she is willing and able to do anything she needs to do to see everyone succeed! Tikita Ficklin- when I tell you beauty just radients from this women inside and out! And always a team player! I honestly love each and everyone of my models they all have wonderful qualities and personalities I need around me and in my life!

ICONIQUEMAG 5. On a personal note, what was the lowest point in your life? And how did you overcome it. TERRI It was when I lost my father and when I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. I got through cancer by saying to myself it wasn’t gonna beat me I was gonna beat it! Praying and asking GOD to cover me in his blood and assuring him that my time on earth was not up he put me here for a purpose and if he let me beat this I would show him he wasn’t ready for me I had to change and bless some people’s lives 1st. And he did!!! I’m 19 yrs cancer free!! The death of my father was hard he was my bestfriend!! And the only thing that makes it easier as time goes on is that he is no longer in pain or suffering and that he is watching his baby girl live a wonderful life. ICONIQUE MAG 6. What was the highest point in your life thus far? TERRI Being able to do some amazing things in this industry and meeting some awesome people along the way...but meeting my fiance and opening up the agency, production company and boutique and starting my own magazine publication and agency in Detroit for my kids and grandkids to run, has to be the highlight right now. ICONIQUEMAG 7. Being a Native of Detroit and now resides in Atlanta Ga, what differs the most from each other? TERRI The people! I’ve been here for 30 yr now and they are different oh and the food it’s totally different. Still haven’t found a good soul food place yet!! ICONIQUEMAG 8. Being a Cancer survivor, how does it feel to be here to tell you story? Please exclaim. TERRI It is Amazing!! I know so many people who have gone through what I went through or are going through it right now and it’s a blessing to be able to help them through some things and let them know they can beat it just like I did. I’m a living testimony. ICONIQUEMAG 9. Is your community very supportive of your triumphs and the things you have overcame? TERRI Yes they are. Most people don’t. Even know I went through what I’ve been through..but the ones that do are so supportive and helpful on my not difficult days. ICONIQUEMAG 10. Has becoming Atl’s Hottest Talent & and Modeling agency 2019 went to your head? TERRI Heck NO!! What it did do was make me work harder and pick my models to do more by stepping outside of our comfort zone and doing different things!! Like acting singing mime dancing hosting and exploring their talents to become an entreprenuer. ICONIQUEMAG 11. Being a Woman who have received so many honors, how do you remain so humble?

TURNED OFF BY TOO NICE!

I am not an advocate for dating any man just because he’s nice to you. “Nice” is the bare minimum when it comes to relationship compatibility, and I don’t think any woman owes a man her attention just because he consistently does sweet things. But I will say that when we have been in continuously unhealthy or abusive relationships, and the thought of someone “too nice” or “too considerate” completely turns you off or makes you downright sick…you have to consider where that’s coming from. According to Dr Amir Levine, author of Attached, based on how we were treated by family members or past lovers, we develop attachment styles that can shape who we are attracted to. He outlines the three attachment styles as anxious, avoidant or secure. Here’s is how Levine outlines the three attachment styles, according to a Vice report. Secure: feels comfortable with intimacy and are warm and loving. Anxious: craves intimacy, often preoccupied with relationships and longs to get closer with their partner.

Avoidant: equates intimacy with loss of independence, distancing self, the idea that something better is around the corner. For example, if you have an avoidant attachment style, someone who is secure may turn you off. It will feel like something is “wrong” because they are not distant or inconsistent. “Because you are used to equating an activated attachment system with love,” Levine wrote, “you conclude that this can’t be ‘the one’ because something is missing, for some reason no bells are going off. You associate a calm attachment system with boredom and indifference, and because of this fallacy you may let the perfect person pass you by.” So while it takes self-awareness and work with a therapist to really sort out why people who are potentially good for you “gross you out,” it’s not impossible to resolve. Next time you feel a little nauseous from just kind behavior, it’s worth considering, why?

ECO-FRIENDLY IMPROVEMENTS HELP SAVE MONEY

Today’s home improvements aren’t just about updating your home to make it more functional. Many homeowners are making strategic improvements that also help green their home and boost its resale value. One of the best places to start is also one of the most frequented rooms in the house: the bathroom. Eco-friendly improvements help save money on utility bills, but that’s just the start. Green updates help you feel good about your impact on the earth, helping you eliminate water waste, use less energy and reduce use of toxic chemicals. What’s more, green home improvements are in high demand in real estate, meaning your home can command a higher price at resale. Over half of agents and brokers found that consumers were interested in sustainability when shopping for a home, according to a 2021 report by the National Association of Realtors. Bathrooms are one of the best places to make green updates that streamline use and reduce waste because they make your home more comfortable and they get noticed if you decide to sell. For example, toilets can be huge water-wasters, but a simple update can provide significant savings. 1) Opt for water-saving toilets Dual-flush toilet systems are a modern option that lets you choose how much water is used when you flush based on if there is liquid or solid matter that needs disposal. Update your current bathrooms with dual-flush models, and to add even more value to your home, add a new bathroom that features this water-saving toilet.

With modern technology, you can install a bathroom virtually anywhere. Saniflo has created innovative, eco-friendly, above-floor plumbing technology that allows for quick and easy installation with minimal hassle and mess. Highly focused on sustainability, these macerators and grinders work throughout a home, including on a second story, in a basement, in a garage or in a structure that sits on a slab, like a shed that would traditionally require concrete cutting to create below-floor drainage. For example, the Sanicompact can be used to add a small guest bathroom in an existing space without drilling through concrete, which saves materials and reduces waste. The dual-flush feature flushes waste with 1.28 gallons per flush and liquids with 1 gallon. The Saniaccess 3 macerating unit paired with the company’s water-saving rear-discharge toilet is ideal for full bathrooms, using a smaller amount of water than conventional toilets: 1.28 versus 1.6 gallons per flush with no sacrifice in flushing power. It is also recognized as water-saving by the EPA’s WaterSense program. Dino and Beth Gregorich of San Diego, California, opted for the Sanicompact that helped them transform a storage shed behind their swimming pool into a half-bath and changing room without breaking through concrete. Saniflo toilets and self-contained macerating units are CEC (California Energy Commission) listed. “You can use light flush with less water and a full flush with more,” he explains. “In San Diego, we pay a fortune for water, so we try to save as much as possible. Ultra-low-flush, high-efficiency toilets are very important here.” 2) Switch to energy-efficient lighting In addition to upgrading the toilet, there are other important steps you can take to green the bathroom. Natural light and energy-efficient lighting are two practical and environmentally friendly ways to light the bathroom. To start, swap out all light bulbs for long-lasting, energy-efficient LED bulbs. Then, consider opportunities for adding more natural light, such as a skylight that allows light in without sacrificing privacy. Depending on the type of skylight you select, this upgrade can provide solar heating, better ventilation, and reduce mildew and mold growth. 3) Use natural materials Finally, to truly green your bathroom, it’s important to be mindful about using natural materials and avoiding VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that are toxic to the environment. Popular eco-friendly products include glass, reclaimed wood, metal, bamboo, cork and porcelain. When choosing your materials, consider whether the materials will serve a long-lasting purpose and can eventually be recycled.

CHEF VON

INGREDIENTS

CHICKEN FRICASSEE COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Season chicken: Pat chicken dry with paper towels then sprinkle with salt and pepper. 2. Brown thighs: Melt butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet or heavy based pot with a lid. Add chicken thighs, skin side down, and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Turn and cook the other side for 1 minute then remove to a plate. 3. Brown drumsticks: Then brown the drumsticks, as best you can. I do 3 sides, about 2 minutes each. Then remove from skillet. 4. Sauté mushrooms and onion: Add mushrooms, onion, bay leave and thyme. Cook for 5 minutes until mushroom is lightly golden - they won’t go deep golden brown. 5. Garlic and flour: Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds. Add flour and cook for 1 minute. 6. Wine and chicken stock: Add wine and chicken stock. Stir, scraping the base of the pot to dissolve the brown residue stuck to the pan into the sauce. 7. Return chicken to sauce: Return chicken back into the sauce with the skin side up. 8. Simmer covered 10 minutes: Once it comes to a simmer, adjust heat so it’s bubbling constantly but not rapidly (see video) - medium-low on my stove. Cover with lid and simmer 10 minutes. 9. Uncover 20 minutes: Remove lid and let it simmer for a further 20 minutes. Chicken will be cooked - internal temperature 75°C/167°F or slightly higher. 10. Creamy sauce: Remove chicken to a plate. Add cream and stir. Once it comes up to a simmer, taste sauce (I know, big ask!), and add more salt if desired.. 11. Serve! Return chicken into the sauce then remove from the stove. Sprinkle with parsley and serve! Traditionally served over mashed potato or rice. Also ideal with short pasta like penne, ziti or macaroni. Notes 1. Chicken – Needs to be skin on, bone in pieces so they don’t overcook and dry out. If you are dead set on making this with boneless breast, brown it per recipe, simmer sauce with lid off for 15 minutes (to reduce), then add breast and simmer with lid on for 6 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 65°C/149°F. For boneless thigh, do the same except the internal temperature should be 75°C/167°F. 2. Wine – Any dry white wine will work great here, though chardonnay is particularly good because it adds good flavour. Don’t use anything too sweet or too woody. Non alcoholic substitute: Replace with more chicken stock. FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM & TIKTOK AT ISTHATVONCOOKING

Introducing Tikita Ficklin A.K.A Tiki J, a dynamic multitalented artist that sings, acts, models, and song writes. Tiki J. grew up in Macon, Georgia and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. This photo was inspired by a new assignment of being the First Lady at Grace Life Connection Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Wow, to be honest this was apart of our family photoshoot and photos to announce our engagement and church grand opening. I wanted a look that was respectful yet still sexy to show that just because I am a First Lady and love God, I don’t have to look plain and boring. I felt excited and happy to work with David Price and to share the experience with my love. I believe this entire look came from Amazon.com. Tiki J.’s passion is to inspire others to run after their destiny, by understanding who they are and their unique purpose, while healing from their past. EVA GREEN

The lady in red is model Eva Green better known as Eva. She has been modeling for several years. Eva has an enormous passion for fashion, music, and mainly being in front of the camera or on the runway. She models high fashion, which is her favorite. However, Eva enjoys creative projects that include body paint and collaboration. She has worked with several photographers, all with different styles and creative abilities. Eva is a model with Willow Scott Modeling agency and an Arabella Model Affiliate. Eva has been published several times. Her next goal is to compete and win a Beauty Pageant. Eva has suffered from Alopecia since 1997, and in 2019, she decided to make the massive chop and shave it off. “I have never felt freer than I am right now,” says Eva. “When my dad passed away in 1997, my hair came out in droves. I could run my hands through my hair and have handfuls after hand full. At that point, I wore just about every hairstyle you can think of: wigs, braids, sisterlocs (which are my favorite) for about eight years. Even though some friends saw what I was going through, they would tell me just to cut it or shave it off. I had to make sure that I was ready to make that move. This is a personal decision, not anyone else; this is my decision, not your decision to make for myself. I needed to be sure I was ready and 100% committed to my decision. THE SLAP HEARD AROUND THE WORLD

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the 2022 Academy Awards Ceremony. What likely shall, or should, be the aftermath of this incident of public assault and battery? First of all, let it be said, this was not a school yard incident between six-year-old children. Mr. Smith is a mature adult. Second, although subjectivity is always relevant in matters of humor, it can fairly be said that Mr. Rock’s joke would be considered by most people to be in very poor taste. But is physical violence the proper response to offensive verbal statements? It is hard to maintain that it ever is, at least not in a civilized society. If anyone deserved a slap for what he did, it was Smith, not Rock. What should Mr. Smith have done after this joke went awry? He should have limited himself to a verbal response. Can anyone imagine Pope Francis or Thomas Sowell or Woody Allen or Martin Luther King, Jr. or Albert Einstein or Justice Clarence Thomas or Congressman Ron Paul or the Dali Lama acting like this in such a context? Of course not: these are all civilized people. None of them would get caught dead slapping anyone upside the head in response to a bad joke. How should the forces of law and order react to this act of initiatory violence? In one view, crimes concern only victims. There is no such thing as a crime against “society.” Under such a legal code, the reaction would all be up to Chris Rock. He could ignore this outrage, he could sue Will Smith for financial damages for this bodily injury, he could demand physical punishment (a jail sentence) for the aggressor. As it happens, he has declined to press charges. But we do not live under that law. Offenses such as Smith’s, to be sure, are interpreted as a violation of the rights of the victim. But they are also seen as an invasion of “society.” For this purpose, we have attorneys general. They are able to bring charges against criminals even if the victim is willing to forgive the perpetrator, as has now occurred. From the perspective of the logic of this system, how should the attorney general now act?

Clearly, he should bring charges against Mr. Will Smith for assault and battery. Why? For one thing, this was a public slap. Millions of people watched these goings on at the Academy Award Ceremonies, including impressionable youngsters. If no repercussions are visited on Will Smith, the implication taken away by them will likely be that such behavior is justified, acceptable; is, even, to be applauded. The next time someone says something thought to be objectionable, instead of a verbal reply or even a “cancellation,” physical violence will have been rendered more likely. Is that really the direction in which people of good will would wish our country to move? For another, there is a simple matter of justice. The attorney general is put into place to promote that end. If people may slap each other around without negative consequences ordinary fairness will have been denigrated and disrespected. Then there is the economics of the matter (that is not a typographical error). A basic premise of this discipline is that demand curves slope downward. The desire to engage in criminal behavior is no exception to this primordial insight. If the “price” is high, we will tend to have less of any given item or behavior; if the price is low or non-existent, then more. What is the price of crime? It is punishment. Will Smith deserves a term in prison for his criminal act. Mr. Smith will be seen by many as a hero for this unwarranted and despicable behavior of his. After all, he attempted to defend the honor of his wife. That is not the result enlightened people would like to see as the conclusion of this sorry event. ECONLIB.ORG

There may be nothing more sweet in this big, wide world than gazing upon photos and videos of your kids or grandkids - with smiles a mile wide - holding up what they think is a huge “monster” fish (even if it’s just a small sunfish or bluegill), or photos of your family all together enjoying a day of fishing and having fun on the water. If you love fishing and you want to share it with your family, it’s important to put a little planning in up front to help the experience go as smooth as it can to create those lasting memories and those stories that will be told for years of the monsters that were caught, and the big ones that got away. To help you introduce the ones you love to a lifetime of fishing fun, the folks at Rapala, the legendary lure maker, offer these tips:

TEN TIPS ON HOW TO HAVE MORE FUN FISHING

Remember, it’s all about the little wins - If you have smaller kids or beginners in the family, it’s likely they’ll be pulling up smaller catches. Though their sunfish might look measly to you, they might think it’s a monster! Hint, hint: So should you. Snap a picture to remember the beaming look on their faces and use this opportunity to show them how to conserve fish for future generations. Let them guide you - When and where it’s safe, let the kids “co-pilot” with you by operating your boat’s trolling motor and guiding you to the perfect spot. Kids want to experience what the adults do. Operating a trolling motor will give them experience in positioning the boat and learning how to approach a spot. Include your partner/spouse or others in your family in the fun - Families come in all shapes and sizes nowadays. Use fishing as an opportunity to gather in the great outdoors and share some precious time together. Involve your partner or spouse, uncles and aunts, grandparents and close friends who feel like family. A day on or near the water can be a great way for a family to get away from our always-on digital world.

Use good quality gear - Don’t skimp on cheap fishing gear. If your low-quality fishing gear breaks or malfunctions, it could ruin the moment. Good gear doesn’t cost a fortune. Choose gear with a lot of positive reviews and fishing lures, like Rapala lures, which are well-known for catching fish. Similarly, be prepared for accidents that happen and practice patience if a rod tip gets broken, a fishing rod falls into the water, or a fishing lure gets stuck high up in a tree. Stuff happens. afety first - Being in or around water means safety comes first. Make sure everyone has lifejackets, stays hydrated, and that you brief the kids on hook and water safety before handing over the rod. Remember to check the weather ahead of time so you can bundle up if it’s a crisp morning, and bring sunscreen and hats if the sun is blazing. Bring a scale - Practice catch-weigh-photo-release to get the family in the swing of things. You can even have a competition to see who had the heaviest catch! Weigh the fish caught with a Rapala scale, perfect for taking photos that display just how hefty your catch is.

Don’t forget the snacks! - Make everyone’s day and keep spirits high by bringing special treats along for the ride. Ask each family member their favorite snack beforehand to make sure everyone is included. The only ‘hangry’ ones on your fishing trip should be the fish!

Think beyond fishing to get fishing - Tell stories, take pictures, and bring coloring books for the little ones if they need a break. And remember, it’s okay if not everyone wants to fish. Some members of your family may not be too keen on fishing. Make sure they feel welcome and invite them to read a book or do another activity while others in your family are fishing. They will surely want to be there when the others are showing their catches off.

Fishing is about learning - Fishing can be fun, but it’s also an opportunity to be part of nature and experience other precious moments, such as watching other wildlife (turtles, frogs, ducks, squirrels), identifying plants and trees, learning how a boat works, and trying different types of presentations to see which one is most effective in catching fish. If some members of your family really turn on to fishing, feed that passion with videos about fishing. Rapala has more than 600 informative videos on its YouTube channel alone.

Make a video - Take lots of photos and videos of your fishing trips with the family, then create a short movie with iMovie to help them relive the memories of fishing when it’s cold and wet outside. It’ll be fun to make, and the final product will be a memento your family will cherish forever.

The most well known fashion accessory is of course, jewellery. For teenagers and children, fashion jewelry pieces that are popular often include colourful, oversized pieces, as well as charm necklaces or charm bracelets. For men, a popular piece of jewellery often includes large pendant necklaces, many of which display a cross or another popular or meaningful symbol. As for women, popular pieces of fashion jewelry include watches, earnings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, pins, and so forth. BODY DIVERSITY IN FASHION

Looking retrospectively at 2017 the industry cited important shifts across the diversity spectrum and for the year that was, racial diversity came out the winner with 32.5% of the top international publications featuring people of colour, a 3.5% increase over 2017. (The fashion spot) Body diversity saw a marginal increase from the previous year and it’s greatest triumph the inclusion of 90 ‘plus size’ models on the runways for Spring Fashion Week in New York. The real figures though revealing that the 90 who walked, represented less than 4% of the 2601 runway appearances in total. Not quite as impressive, but yes still an important step in the right direction. The least exciting number for body diversity was it’s representation across the top international publications with just 1% of plus size models featured, showing a marginal increase on 2016’s 0.9%. That number equates to just 8 covers out of 679 belonging to a model, size 12 or over. These numbers are significant because they tell a story and part of that narrative is that the real work on the inclusion of diverse representation within the fashion industry has only just begun with much work needing to be done if we want to see this small yet meaningful increasing advancing to normal. The Fashion Law cited the Washington Post fashion critic Robin Givhan in stating, “We need to get to a point at which inclusiveness feels organic. And IS organic. That we get to a point where the shows feel like they are speaking to the wide range of consumers, but without turning the runway into some kind of human assembly line in which one-of-each is the standard.” As consumers, we look to the industry to lead the change, but are our expectations a little misplaced? Is it only the responsibility of the ‘giants’? I have been recently challenged myself with this question; not that of the importance of diversity in body image because I am 100% behind that, but found myself wrestling with how this belief shows up in my own life and in my work as a fashion stylist. The catalyst, a newly launched swimwear label I was introduced to, Harmony Swim. This is a brand that not only speaks the message of beauty at every size, but also demonstrates the heart of their message visually in the upfront marketing of their brand, and that, is unfortunately rare. So the question remains. How authentic is our support of body diversity in our everyday? Do we genuinely back the message or are we simply giving it lip service? How do we really feel about cellulite on the runway, in our magazines and instagram feeds? Are we comfortable with that? And if the answer is yes, how are we personally promoting that message? And to the high street and mainstream fashion brands, the brands that the vast majority of us are wearing; size ranges might well be available from a size 4 to a 16, but how many of them are using size 16 models to front campaigns? The requirement doesn’t just rest on the shoulders of Vogue or Harpers Bazaar, or even New York Fashion Week. It has to become ingrained in our personal value system as individuals, as consumers, as fashion retailers, and as designers, stylists, photographers, and hair and make up artists, creative directors and influencers. And yes, Vogue. My feeling is that it’s going to take a shift from ‘the one’ to fuel and support the work that is being done at the top. The truth is the platform for body diversity is emerging even if the stats look small and new opportunities are starting to develop but this mountain is a long way from being conquered and until we start to consider our individual role in the game, 1% just might remain 1%. Let’s be the game changers. #isupportbodydiversity
