The Artistry of

Robert Owen What inspired you to create BodyPaintArt? The nude human form is the most precious and beautiful Canvas of art on the planet. Using the body as painted canvas was a simple choice for me to expand on their inherit beauty. Each canvas is unique to the artists brush stroke. The curves, lines, creases and character that form their structure leads my creative brush strokes and color palettes. Have you experienced negative feedback using the nude body as a canvas? Luckily, I’ve not had to deal with direct criticism of the art we create. I like to think that the consumer of my art sees the respect that I have for the human condition. That each piece celebrates life, beauty, power, grace and love. How long does it take to create your art? That depends on what I ultimately want the art to represent. Some of the art created takes less than a few weeks to complete. Each set of work starts with the selection of the model and concept. Next are the logistics of the shooting location, the set design and painting concepts for the shoot followed by the actual body painting of the model. The next step is the photography of the completed set, the shot selection and subtle editing. The final portion involves printing and framing the art work, then selecting which gallery each piece will reside. Of course, this doesn’t account for the procuring of the paints, props, supplies and travel time associated with each. A good range for all of the work we’ve created would be anywhere from 45 to 200 working hours for each piece. What do you enjoy most about creating BodyPaintArt? I enjoy the reactions of those that see the art, either online or in person. My goal is to move people emotionally through art, to inspire, exalt and energize the human spirit. Selling art to people that have fallen in love with a piece, truly is the most rewarding financial and spiritual experience for me personal4

ly. Knowing that someone has made room in their home for something I’ve created just blows my mind. Buying art is not a need, but a fulfillment of emotional enlightenment and I’m proud to be a part of that world. You’ve not always been an artist, so how did you get started? That’s true, I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and work as an engineer designing new products for the majority of my career. I’ve created thousands of new product designs and have been fortunate to be the lead design engineer on a multitude of patents. I’d never picked up an artist’s brush until about 3 ½ years ago. I had always enjoyed photography as a hobby since childhood and that is what ultimately got me into my first art gallery. Once I got into my first gallery and saw how competitive and watered-down photography had become with the advent of good cell phone cameras, I knew I needed to differentiate my work. My photography had always been nature based and I began printing my work on sheet PVC instead of paper because of the unique look it gave my images. From that point, I started experimenting with painting on my printed nature images and received wonderful feedback and sales on those style of images. My first foray into body painting models for this type of art started in February of 2017. I had a friend that is a very talented air brush artist help me with the first

set and I found that I didn’t like the look of the airbrushing on the models, so I picked up a brush, dipped it into my paints, brushed it onto the model and that began the movement toward BodyPaintArt. Where do you see yourself taking your art next? I plan to concentrate more time into painting on my current collection of images that have been created over the last couple of years. I have been printing on new mediums, such as aluminum & canvas and have been experimenting with painting on these surfaces along with my original PVC printings.

Each surface requires different painting techniques and I hope to hone my skills in these areas. I won’t have time to invest in creating much more of the set designed BodyPaintArt as we are expecting the birth of our child in late October/early November and I begin law school this August. Where can we see and buy your art? My art is on display at several galleries across the country. It hangs at Artist Corner Contemporary Art Gallery in Beverly Hills, CA, Sevin Gallery in Skokie, IL, The D’Arte Center in Harlingen, TX, Seas the Day Gallery in Port Isabel, TX and the Noble Art Gallery in Albion, IN. My work is also on www.artnet.com and can be viewed on my website www. decusnaturalisstudios.com. You can follow my work on Facebook and Instagram as well. Any words for those interested in pursuing art? Sure, it’s not easy! People seem to have lost the value in art, maybe due to economics in todays society where most live paycheck to paycheck and find art as a luxury and not a necessity. If it is truly your passion, do your research and have a plan as to what you want to create, how you want to market it and where you want to show and sell your creations. Unfortunately, the vast majority struggle with financing a personal life through art, but with good talent and extremely hard work, finding a way to balance the joy of creating art with the financial needs of our society is possible.

Positive Me! I was that little girl that people always picked on in school.I was that teen that got pregnant at age14. And everybody turned they nose at me and didn’t want me playing with they kids. I grew up with no father so I felt that any man that loves me I am Lucky to have him. All because I never had that father figure in my life. So I ended up in a abusive relationship which I stayed in for years and had 3loving babies. But I figured out what love was. I found myself when I finally left him in the past. With all the negativity that took place in my life I found out ways to make them

positive. I started modeling last year in March2018.Did my first fashion show in November2018.Started back writing my book march2019. Started my clothing store June 2018 and now I am working on my positive me group which it was inspired by my life my back ground. Seeing others go through storms.Watching us woman bash one another instead of helping. Watching people laugh at other women success and finding negative things to say instead of support and up lift that person. This group is going to give you all of that. I am willing to help women all over so I want to start traveling. I have a vision and I am not done until my vision here on earth why I am living is complete.Never give up on yourself you deserve to be happy. And helping others makes me happy. I never thought that I would made it this far. But i did I could not have done it without having faith in God. None of this would be possible.

THE MUD HOUSE ST LOUIS MO. Grits and Greens for breakfast is definitely a true delight. Homemade Grits with Spinach and poached eggs in a bed of butter oil. Wow! It is heaven in a bowl. I never been a big fan of grits and spinach so I f igured I would be a little adventurous today and try it. After devouring the whole meal I can say that I am a fan now and truthfully I believe I can eat this for breakfast everyday. This restaurant is located on the south side of St. Louis about 5 mins from the historic anhieser Busch and lemp breweries.

(BPT) - There’s nothing better on a hot summer day than kicking back and relaxing with a cold, tasty and refreshing beverage — and there are so many great options to choose from. But why not add a little excitement to your summer by choosing something to drink that’s fun and colorful, super healthy and delicious, too? You can skip the dehydrating alcohol, artificial flavorings or unhealthy refined sugar and opt to serve up a natural, fruit-based drink — a “mocktail” — when you’re planning your next summer soiree, or to enjoy with friends and family of all ages anytime the weather heats up. A mocktail not only replenishes your vital fluids, hydrating you and providing important nutritional content your body needs, but it’s yummy, fun and festive to drink. When you add a super food like a Chiquita banana to your mocktail, you’re adding vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B6, which helps muscles function, boosts your immune system and helps with formation of red blood cells. Chiquita bananas are also a great source of potassium, which can help level out your blood pressure, among other positive benefits. They provide fiber, protein, antioxidants, vitamin C, magnesium and other nutrients to your diet. Another plus? Bananas come in their own handy, naturally biodegradable, portable and easy-to-peel package! No matter what kind of delectable mocktails or fruit smoothies you want to create this summer, adding bananas to the mix will provide a bonus of sweet flavor and a creamy texture to your beverage. Bananas will balance out the flavors of the more tart or acidic fruits you’re using in your recipe, while they also boost the overall nutritional content of your drink. Another great thing about mocktails? They are super easy to prepare, taking only about 10 minutes of prep time. All you need is a blender and the ingredients of your choice! Serve each mocktail over crushed ice or ice cubes in a fun decorative glass and add a tiny umbrella or a small fruit skewer with berries and banana slices for a festive and delicious party presentation. Try one of these vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free recipes for delightfully refreshing, yummy mocktails: Tropical Chiquita Banana Colada Shake with Coconut Water (serves 2) Ingredients 2 Chiquita bananas 2 cups coconut water 2 cups mango juice 3 sprigs fresh mint 2 limes

REFRESH YOUR SUMMER WITH DELICIOUS HEALTHY MOCKTAILS
