$50,000 How to Support ICSW’s 2020 Annual Appeal Recognition Levels What a year! In the midst of persistent uncertainties and a rapidly, pivoting, academic environment, ICSW’s staff and faculty remain committed to providing the highest quality of training in psychodynamic graduate studies in the world. For thirty-nine years, we have remained committed to our mission of preparing students in the tradition of psychodynamic graduate studies. This fall, we welcomed 25 new students, expanded our master’s program, provided scholarships and emergency funding for students, and increased professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. This annual appeal highlights the work that our students, faculty, and alumni do on the frontlines during natural disasters, a global pandemic, and in the area of racial justice. Now more than ever, ICSW remains committed to its values of compassionate practice, social justice, and diversity and inclusion. Every gift that you make to ICSW helps expand psychodynamic graduate studies and improve the mental health of individuals in communities around the world. ANNUAL APPEAL

2020

MAKING AN IMPACT ICSW’s psychodynamic graduate studies are needed now more than ever. I am gratified to know that our students and faculty are offering effective help to others in this pandemic, in a multitude of practice settings. Our faculty are master clinicians who teach our dedicated students many important ways of thinking, feeling, and working, human to human, that create meaning-making, coping, understanding, and healing. Supporting them in these endeavors is vital. Joan Servatius, PhD Academic Dean

Students on Racial Justice and Antiracism De’Asia Thompson, Second-Year, PhD Candidate, focuses on improving the mental health and well-being of Black women and other women of color. At her practice, she focuses on providing a safe space for clients to heal as they navigate various terrains such as race, gender, sexuality, and other intersectional places they meet that contributes to their depression and anxiety.

Amanda Yoder, Second-Year, PhD Candidate, is committed to antiracism work through a psychoanalytic lens. Currently, she facilitates process groups for white therapists, in which group members work to bring to consciousness identification with white dominant culture, and, with greater insight and humility, move toward corrective action.

“My training in psychodynamic methodology expanded my view of human nature and guided me to develop my own voice as a therapist. Perhaps most important, the psychodynamic approach to counseling emphasized at ICSW allows for the therapist to explore the “whole person” in partnership with the client.”
