Director of Master’s Program POSITION OVERVIEW: The Institute for Clinical Social Work is looking for a director of its master’s program. This position reports directly to the academic dean and will have a faculty appointment. This is a full-time position and is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the master’s program in clinical counseling and psychotherapy.

The Institute for Clinical Social Work, in Chicago, IL, is a private higher education institution offering an M.A. in clinical counseling and psychotherapy and a Ph.D. in clinical social work. ICSW prepares scholars and practitioners to advance the knowledge and quality of practice in the fields of clinical social work and counseling and to serve diverse communities through professional and academic contributions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Field Placements  Identifying diverse field placement sites for MA degree-seeking students  Serving as field site liaison and visiting to student placement sites on a semester-to-semester basis  Organizing field instructor training on an annual basis Recruitment/Admissions  Participate in ongoing recruitment for the school, such as going to grad fairs, schools and coordinating off-site ICSW continuing education in-services at events  Participate in recruitment and admissions committees  Organize informational interviews for prospective students  Interview applicants for the program and maintain contact with them Faculty  Recruit and hire faculty, in consultation with the Academic Dean, for the master’s program  Prepare and execute annual MA program faculty evaluations  Provide training and support for MA faculty  Prepare the course schedule and assign faculty to appropriate courses  Chair/co-chair appropriate academic committees (e.g. curriculum, continuing education, accreditation, etc.)  Review of academic materials to ensure compliance (e.g. syllabi) Advisor  Serve as primary academic advisor to all MA students  Coordinate placements throughout the MA student cycle  Advise and assist with licensure and job placement Accreditation

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  Keeping MA files updated  Reviewing and updating academic program information  Organizing consultant roles and meetings  Coordinating make­up classes  Work closely with alumni committee in recruiting students  Assisting with student on-site weekends  Other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in social work or counseling Demonstrated ability working with a team Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the U.S. Experience with field placements Experience with academic advising Demonstrated commitment to student success Experience with program development and review Supervisory or management experience Three to five years of experience in higher education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in counseling with base licensure  Experience with accreditation and program review  Five or more years of experience in higher education  Two or more years of experience at the director or department level  Experience in recruitment

SKILLS IN:  Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and interpersonal skills  Excellent organizational skills  A genuine commitment to student service and success  Ability to work with the public is required  Ability to be self-motivated and work independently  Strong computer skills and proficiency with Google products and Microsoft Office Suite applications
