Welcome www.educationalvisitsuk.com
It is a pleasure once again to welcome you to this years edition of the Educational Visits Guide. For 2010 we’ve pulled out all the stops and are confident that this 21st edition is the best yet! It’s packed with useful details of the best places to take school or educational trips in England & Wales, along with a fantastic array of images that make browsing through this little book more of a pleasure than a chore. But we can’t take all the credit, we say it year upon year but it really is the attractions that make this guide what it is. From Adventure Wonderland to Yorkshire Waterways Museum, you’ll be as impressed as we are with what the places advertised in this publication have to offer in the way of educational opportunities, and what they are prepared to do to make your day out that little bit special. So, we hope you find the 2010 Educational Visits Guide and our website: www.educationalvisitsuk.com more useful than ever, and that it helps make planning your trip a little easier. When you’ve read through it should you require any help or assistance please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 01677 427334 or drop us an email at info@elmtreepress.com. We’re experts in travel and tourism and our experienced, friendly staff will be more than
happy to assist you whatever your query. Whether it’s as simple as you want more copies, or even if you want some help organising your annual trip. In 2009 we launched our new Educational Visits UK e-newsletter that we send to schools every term featuring news, offers and updates from attractions in the book. It’s going down a storm and the feedback we’re getting is superb, you can read more about it on page 10. One last thing, we’d really appreciate it if you could mention this publication when you’re contacting attractions as it is always important for them to be able to recognise the benefits that it provides. Enjoy the guide, and remember that if you need any help or advice during the year we are here to help. Elmtree Press

The maps are also handy for those struggling for ideas of where to take a trip, but if you already know the name of the place you’re looking to visit you can use the alphabetical index at the back of the guide to find it. This method has benefits of it’s own, as it shows what subjects are covered by each attraction through the use of a simple set of symbols.

You’re holding it in your hands. Over the years this guide has evolved into the format you see before you, both in physical size and in the way the information is contained within. We’ve split the country into 5 regions geographically, and each of those regions has it’s own section of the guide (distinguished by a range of colours). In each you’ll find a map showing the locations of the various attractions, all of which are assigned a number, and then in the pages that follow listed under that number there’s loads of information, pictures and contact details for each one!
Near a computer? On our website you can use the search facility to find attractions by name, region, type of attraction or by key words featured in the entry, such as the subjects covered. Every attraction featured in print is online, with direct links to their websites for when you want to gather further information.
This structure is great, because if you’re planning to visit more than one place, then you can see at a glance what other attractions are
the What’s On facility so it’s worth checking regularly to see what’s going on in your area!
3. Educational Visits e-newsletter Our fantastic new service! Turn over for details.
One of the main advantages that the website provides is that it’s continually updated throughout the year. This ensures that if there are any alterations or changes to opening times or entrance fees for instance, then the attractions can amend their details on the website immediately to reflect the changes. They also have the ability to list upcoming events and special offers for each month using
