Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Derbyshire Wildlife Trust was established in 1962 by a small group of volunteers with a shared interest in nature conservation. Today the Trust has grown in both stature and membership, and with nearly 12,000 members and management responsibilities for 40 nature reserves, it is the leading conservation organisation in Derbyshire. The Trust’s aims remain to protect and enhance Derbyshire’s natural environment.

Lea Gardens have a unique collection of highly acclaimed rhododendrons, azaleas, kalmias and other plants of interest that have been introduced from the far corners of the world. The gardens are sited on the remains of a medieval millstone quarry and cover an area of approximately 4 acres on a wooded hillside. The excellent rock garden contains a large variety of alpines with acers, dwarf conifers, heathers and spring bulbs.
