Events Yorkshire Cliffhanger Festival, Millhouses Park, Sheffield 11-12 July

Seafest Festival, West Pier, Scarborough 24-26 July

The aim of the event is to inspire and involve. Featuring competitions or demonstrations in rock climbing, orienteering, kayaking, mountain biking, running, skiing & snowboarding, skateboarding, free running, adventure racing and more visitors will be able to watch elite sports people of all ages competing or demonstrating.

From the world of seafood and natural history to international music, there is a packed programme with lots to do for the whole family. Celebrating its tenth anniversary with a bumper programme of maritime themed activities, this event makes the most of the West Pier and Old Town.

Great Yorkshire Show, Showground, Harrogate 14-16 July The Great Yorkshire Show is the leading country event in the north of England. The three day extravaganza covers 100 acres and combines exciting entertainment, fun activities, plenty of shopping, the chance to meet friends and family and experience the best of rural life.

Harrogate International Festival, Various Venues, Harrogate 23rd - 26th July Get ready for the crime wave of the year. The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival is a not to be missed event. Examine the evidence: George Pelecanos, Val McDermid, Laura Lippman: a roll call of cool. Hang on for your life as many of the biggest authors in crime fiction gather for Europe's most gripping crime writing festival.

Ilkley Summer Festival 15-16 August August is a month packed with events for all the family in Ilkley, including continental markets, exhibitions, family workshops and concerts.

The Queen's Golden Jubilee International Joust, Royal Armouries, Leeds 22-24 August Cheer on some of the world's top jousters as they battle for the Queen's Golden Jubilee Trophy. Watch the drama build through the heats, reaching a climax on Bank Holiday Monday when the overall champion will claim his trophy in a spectacular finale.

Leeds Festival, Bramham Park 28th- 30th August The Leeds Festival is the north of England's premier festival. Across the stages there is every new buzz band that

you have read and heard about, and headliners Radiohead, Artic Monkeys and Kings of Leon. Away from the Main Stage expect some real surprises on the NME / Radio One Stage, the A to Z of punk, hardcore and ska on the Lock Up Stage and the headliners of the future on the smaller stages.

Whitby Goth Weekend 30th October - 1st November The Whitby Gothic Weekend (WGW) is an established and popular gothic festival located in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Most of the events are held at the town's 1,000 capacity Whitby Spa Pavilion.
