S

ome 200 feet high in the city of Boise, sits the final steel beam of what will be Idaho’s tallest building. The beam, signed Wednesday by about 100 people in attendance for the “topping off” ceremony, was hoisted to its top-story lookout. An American flag and an evergreen tree sat at opposite ends of the beam as it ascended to the top. Iron workers have long celebrated the “topping off” ceremony, adding a tree to symbolize life to the building. The beam will be visible from the penthouse for years to come. The 18-story building occupies “The Hole” at 8th and Main that it sat vacant since 1987. The building is scheduled to open January 2014, with Zions Bank as its anchor tenant.
