OUR NEW HOME IN MILTON KEYNES

It’s been a year since we moved into our new purpose-built facility where we’ve been working hard to streamline our operations and better serve our customers. Now we’re settled, we are delighted to share the benefits to you of this move.

Following our move in the north in April 2022, we moved all of our stock, consolidating our 3 southern warehouses into one 108,000sq ft space, as well as relocating over 200 staff into our new Southern distribution centre in Milton Keynes.

Our move has been made with our customers in mind. We wanted to provide them with a more tailored proposition and better service levels. Our increased warehouse capacity means we can now offer more products for next day delivery, as well as a wider range of stock. Customers will benefit from shorter lead times and a larger selection of fast-moving lines. All in all, our move to Milton Keynes is sure to make a positive difference to our customers.

I have met new people within the business, which helps when needing to solve queries from customers with different teams. It enables us to service our customers better by working more closely together.

Our next day delivery service is extremely popular with our customers, therefore the additional space means that we are more equipped to fulfil this service promise.

Our new site now has 10 HGV docking ports, three of which can handle both HGV deliveries from our suppliers and our fleet of 56 vans. This has increased the efficiency of loading and unloading stock, which is especially important for our next day delivery service - a service that many of our customers rely on.

Additionally, our fleet has been upgraded to feature eco-vans. These vans have been carefully chosen to help us keep our service promise by emitting lower levels of emissions, having specialised storage to minimize damage, and utilizing technology to reduce roadside breakdowns. We hope that our investment in these vans will bring us many advantages in the future.

Sustainability and employee wellbeing has also been at the forefront when developing the site over the past 12 months. To ensure a healthy and productive work environment, the site features various breakout areas, a rooftop garden, exercise equipment and reflection areas.

The site is more eco-friendly, with 14 electric vehicle charging points available for both staff and visitors to use. We’ve also taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint by creating green spaces around the site, providing a pleasant environment for our teams to enjoy.

One key benefit of the site, is that all staff are now in one building, resulting in increased collaboration between teams. Customer Service Assistant, Lucy, explains: “I have met new people within the business since being at the new site, which helps when needing to solve queries from customers with different teams. It enables us to service our customers better by working more closely together.”

Head of Digital & Marketing, Stewart perry said: “Our vision for the new site was to ensure that we could increase our service proposition to our customers and deliver an increased amount of products on a next day basis. Our next day delivery service is extremely popular with our customers, therefore the additional space means that we are more equipped to fulfil this service promise.”
