ello everyone its been another great year at FAST LANE BIKER. We love to hear from all of you and can’t wait to get started on two thousand fourteen. We’re all looking forward to a great New Year . This issue is as always a compilation of every issue from two thousand thirteen. It was another good year as far as events go. Although it’s not been the “hey day” of years gone past but it’s been a good year in the motorcycle industry.

Benefit for frankie

june 2012 • New egypt, nj

story ridin’ & pics by Lutz

Friends help friends... and if your friends are bikers, well I guess you know your really gonna’ be getting some help! No doubt about it, especially as in this case when friends and family got together to help Frankie (stricken with some rough medical problems). A benefit was put together to help Frankie (who is the son of local favorite tattooist, Arlene) with his medical costs. You couldn’t ask for a nicer day as the New Egypt Elks backfield loaded up with bikes and cars (many custom and vintage). The event was filled with many activities like a bikini bike wash (who doesn’t like wet tattooed lovely ladies?!), bike games, silent auction, vendors and killer BBQ from “Bubba-que a Taste from Texas” ( brisket!..... gotta’ try the brisket!!) Several live bands rocked the pavilion, a bike and antique/custom hot rod show.....the list goes on. Most of all by the end of the day, it was way cool to see the generosity of family and friends that came out to help this young man in need......hey that’s what it’s all about!!

14th Annual Toy Run Sunday, November 18, 2012 • Rahway, NJ

L

iberty Harley-Davidson’s H.O.G. Chapter held their 14th Annual Toy Run on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Hundreds of enthusiastic riders met in Liberty’s parking lot, bringing new toys for the in-patient children at the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. After donuts, coffee and renewals of old friendships, riders saddled up for the police escorted half mile long parade to the hospital. Once there, H.O.G. Officers presented the truckload of toys to hospital administrators, as well as several X-Boxes for use in the children’s areas at the hospital. Santa then went from room to room with gifts for the in-patient kids. Afterwards, everyone returned to the American Legion Hall in Rahway for a pasta dinner and more camaraderie. Fast Lane Biker

American legion legion riders 455 bike blessing april 2012 • New egypt, nj

story ridin’ & pics by Lutz

Out for a Sunday mornin’ scoot on the bike and stumbled across this one (always an eyecatcher when you pass by a parking lot full of bikes!) I just had to pull in (with camera in tow of course!) and check it out. It turned out to be a few chapters of the American legion riders, headed off by local chapter 455, putting on a get together to bless their bikes. Combing the crowd and gettin’ a couple of pics of some nice bikes I ran into some old friends and even a couple of new ones. I even knew Pastor Jack who officiated the event! With coffee, donuts and some good words preached by the pastor, it seemed to take the chill out the late April morning. Now the only thing left to do was to finish the day off with a nice ride! Gonna be lookin for this one in a couple of months.

Williams Harley Davidson Old and New event FEBRUARY 23RD - 24TH 2013 • WILLIAMS HARLEY DAVIDSON • Lebanon, NJ

by MARK RUZICKA

This event was a like a walk back into time showcasing not only Williams Harley Davidson newest models but some very old and rare Harley Davidsons from days gone by. Flat heads, Knuckle heads, and one of the best collections of Shovel head Electra Glides I’ve seen in a very long time. There was a really nice turnout for a cold February afternoon and this year guests were treated to refreshments and some delicious hot wings from Bufffalo Wild Wings. The crew at Williams always seem to pull off a first class event and add alittle something different to their gatherings. If you missed this event or havent been to an event at Williams Harley Davidson jump on your bike and go check them out. You won’t be dissapointed!

TIMONIUM MOTORCYCLE SHOW FEBRUARY 8-10, 2013 • TIMONIUM, MARYLAND

by alan hart

After a short ride on a very windy chilly February day I was looking forward to seeing all the New 2013 motorcycles on display at Timonium. This motorcycle show has a great swap meet with lots of vintage and hard to find items. Vendors had all the latest items out for all to see. Live entertainment could be enjoyed by all throughout the day. Every row was filled with garage built café racers, choppers, drag bikes, bobbers and motorcycle art. What a perfect way to spend a weekend finding new products to customize your ride. This show was well worth the trip from anywhere.

Daytona bike week 2013 MARCH 8TH - 17TH 2013 • DAYTONA, FL

by alan hart

After a long 17 hour road trip we arrived in Daytona around 9:30 am on Friday March 8th. Being in a warmer climate immediately lifted our spirits for the week to come. We could feel the energy as the bikers began to roll in, for me it was a great way to start off the riding season. We kicked off the week with the Motocross Racing at the Daytona International Speedway. It was a day full of action packed excitement as these two wheeled beasts wowed a huge crowd. On Monday the 11th we participated in the Ruff Ride which benefited the Humane Society of Daytona. It was a twenty mile ride through Ormond Beach ending at The Iron Horse Saloon which provided food and drinks for all participants. It was a great ride for a great cause. Of course we hit all the infamous biker bars including The Boot Hill Saloon right on Main St. in Daytona Beach. They also have a new location on Highway 1 in Ormond Beach. The new Boot Hill Saloon also features a Strip Club Choppers Roadhouse. Once again they were ready for a great time, with great entertainment, cold beer, and beautiful babes! We also discovered a new great place right across from Iron Horse Saloon, called The Beaver Pub. They offered a great time that was easy on your wallet with great drink specials. It was a place I would definitely visit again. While we were in Ormond Beach we stopped by The Roadside Tavern. Their motto is “come crappy and leave happy.” The great Staff and great food seem to uphold that motto. I was fortunate enough to have local friends in New Smyrna Beach that showed me some great local places off the beaten path. One of my favorite places was The No Name Saloon in Edgewater, FL. They had lots of Bike Events and Entertainment to happily pass the time. I would also recommend stopping by Sopotnick’s Cabbage Patch located on Tomoka farms road, Samsula, FL. They have their world famous coleslaw wresting on Wednesday the 13th and Saturday the 16th, live music all day, and they say that they have the hottest bartenders in town. They also have tons of vendors to help you accessorize you and your ride. I would like to give a special thanks to Michael, Maggie, Kristen, and Earl for letting me tag along. It was a great week filled with lots of memories. Hope to see you on the open road. Alan

The race of Gentlemen

OCT 4-6TH, 2013 • WILDWOOD, nj

BY MARK RUZICKA

Last year when I first heard about The Race of Gentleman and what the it was all about it, I was surprised to hear it was located in Allenhurst New Jersey. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Allenhurst, it’s a small well to do beach town just north of Asbury Park. I saw some of the pictures and found out I knew quite a few of the participants . I did a little digging around and found out that this year it was going to be held on the beach in Wildwood, NJ. Now this is more like it Pre War 1920’s and 30‘s Hot Rods and motorcycle drag Racing on the beach in Wildwood. So I reached out to Mel, the event promoter and found out the details. This event was held on October fourth, fifth and Sixth. Friday night was the preparty at the Starlux hotel with a car and bike show out front. On Saturday morning the races began and spectators were entertained by live Rock and Roll during the races from Ba Babes and the Nude Dudes. At night there was a Bon Fire beach party and a performance by the Swinging Neck Breakers. On Sunday the final day of racing began and when the tide finally went down it was followed by the award ceremony. This event had racers form all over the Country and some celebrity participants like Rick Petko of Orange County Choppers, nationally know sculptor and motorcycle restoration specialist, Jeff Decker. The weather on this weekend was absolutely perfect as the motor gods smiled down on this one-of-a-kind event. We had a chance to speak with the event promoter Mel of the Oilers Car Club who is looking to bring this event back to Wildwood next year. So if you missed it this time be sure not miss it next year. Hope to see you all there!

A motorcycle run was organized to do just that “roar to restore the shore” was put together to raise funds to benefit victims of hurricane sandy. starting at the american legion in keyport nj, motorcyclists gathered to attend and support this event. Well over 1000+ bikes (police escorted) road the parkway and through several of the jersey shores hardest hit towns to the end destination at the vfw in bricktown nj. At the ending stop there where many food vendors, local bussiness’s ,live music, a silent auction, all combined to help the sucess of this event. In the end I heard there was close to $35,000 raised for the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. now thats a great feelin!
