Hello everybody and welcome to the May issue of Fast Lane Biker. Spring is here at last and the sound of motorcycles are everywhere. Lately, the police around the Tri-State area have been cracking down on distracted driving, pulling over anyone who picks up their phone or texts while being behind the wheel. It’s about time this is occurring for we have lost too many of our brothers and sisters because someone didn’t see the motorcycle coming due to a driver distracted by a call or a text. Somehow the gamble of getting into an accident and possibly killing someone didn’t out weigh the need to answer that call or text. Meanwhile, lots of great events are lined up for May already. The International Female Ride day and Rally occurs this month for you ladies that want to participate in a weekend long event and ride. There is more information in the events calendar listed on page 30, if you’re interested in attending.

Are you tired of
staying local and attending the same old burger and hotdog runs? Saddle up that bike and head out to some of the most prettiest riding you’ll find in the tri-state area and head west to the Reading Motorcycle Clubs Anniversary Party in Oley, Pennsylvania! What, you’ve never heard of it?! Well let me say you are in for a great time! Reading MC has been around for over 100 years and they sure know how to throw a party! Acres of land located on the clubhouse property provide some of the best partying and camping your gonna find anywhere. Be forewarned with this kinda party space is limited and the weekend before they have a “stake out” party and at the stroke of midnight the signal is given to grab some space for the following weeks festivities. For 3 days starting thursday night, live bands, adult beverages, a “frozen t-shirt contest” as well a “beauty contest”, bike drags on the clubs own drag strip, helicopter rides, food and merchandise vendors, bike games and in general just about anything biker related to keep you satisfied. This is one not to be missed! So come out and put some miles on your bike, you will not be disappointed! Fast Lane Biker

Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 has always been very active with putting on events that never let you down and this event in its 2nd year does just that.
With it being a country music western bbq what better place to have it but in the Jersey pines at the local favorite bar/ restaurant the Pic-A-Lilli! Lots of bikes filled the parking lot and amongst them many a vendor selling many goodies. Many people, family and friends alike came out to partake in this event. Music was provided by local fav as well, Tom Baz and Bullzeye”... I mean it don’t get no more country than that!! Tons of food and adult beverage were on hand as well... it is a bbq after all! As the day went on, you could look around and see that this is a well organized event. There was no doubt everyone was having a great time. You’ll have to excuse me I’m going back for seconds...yee haw!! Fast Lane Biker

while my motorcycle sits in a shed surrounded by dead leaves I think about all the plans I had when I was young they were good plans and I had high hopes well I am registered to vote and I do that I read quite a bit and write a little more I love my wife and say my prayers sometimes I just sit and think sometimes I try to sit and not think why do we always have enough money to kill people why is there never enough money to feed everyone as I read this poem there are machines running all over the world once upon a time there was a man who became a poet words are powerful things a bullet or a bomb can only explode one time it’s true that many will die but words can be used over and over maybe one day we will stop killing each other because of something someone said I would like to be the person who says the magic words but if it’s you who have the magic words that will stop all the killing and the cruelty I hope you say them soon words are powerful things say them already say them say them say them I’ve got my ear to the ground and the way the ground is humming it feels like we’re running out of time. © Marc D.
