Hello everybody and welcome to the June issue of Fast Lane Biker. The weather so far... well let’s just say Mother Nature hasn’t been on her best behavior! Hopefully in June we will have some better luck. We have lots of great events and one that stands out is the Pocono Mountain Hog Bike Night at Barley Creek Brewery. The first time I went there I said this would be a great place for a bike night. It has a huge indoor and outdoor area and it’s easy to get to. I’m sure this will be one of the areas best bike nights as the summer begins to heat up.

or those that are in the ridin’ scene for some years may have met Richie Pan, owner of Dark Star tattoos in Toms River, New Jersey. Many of us have gotten tattooed by him and or rode with him. Its been almost 2 years that he and friend Mike Napolitano got their lives tragically cut short.

used to throw a hell of a backyard party due to his love for the Harley Davidson panhead motors. He called his gathering “Panstock”! Only a small few friends were invited but what a selection of bikes showed up because Rich was a diehard old school kinda guy... lots of fun at those parties which were held for a few years. After his death a few friends wanted to pay tribute to there lost friend and as well help out Rich’s widow, Cindy. With many, many friends and new friends this event was gonna be a hit. Many people and family helped out to organize and throw “Panstock 2016”. This was held at the Amvets in Jackson, New Jersey. Soon the place loaded up with tons of friend and family coming out to support the Richie and the event. This bike show had many scoots that represented many different years and styles, was second to none, along with vendors, great food and adult beverages made the day even better. Live music with some local bands opened for the national headliner Rory Kelly, who with his band delighted everyone’s ears with some fantastic tunes! At the end of the day one could only imagine what Rich would have thought to know how many cared. Rest in peace my friend!

One of the best
things I like about going over to Philadelphia is that the sights and sounds and smells of the city of brotherly love come alive when checking out the city on 2 wheels. With a bonus of great riding weather I like checking out the the local merchants of the city who have their doors open for people to visit on the 1st Friday of the month. I’ve been going for a few years to such an event and it happens at Liberty Vintage Motorcycle Shop. Owner Adam Cramer opens his shop to all that want two come down and have a great time checking out bikes, listening to live music and just simply enjoying his shop’s atmosphere. Outside, bikes of all kinds come and go and you can walk around and see some great scoots parked out in front. Inside various local bands play live and with a few side acts like acrobats hanging from the ceiling and sometimes real fire breathers!..Adam has even been known to fire up some of his bike collection and take a spin! So come on out on the1st friday of the month bring what you drink and enjoy. JUNE, 2017

Run They are Gone Now In our closets and our albums Lie the visions of our past. We see the faded photos, We feel the rush of wind Blow through our hair, This would last forever What we recapture with our stare. Pictures of our tricycle, The bike, the GTO, The old rusty pickup truck, Where did they all go. People replace people If you take a look around Those that stand before you Are the present and the future Not the ones who slipped away And are nowhere to be found For they are gone now. They took with them their laughter The glint of mischief in their eye They took with them their spoken word Their wisdom and their pride. They are gone now To a place we cannot go For there will be no pathway home That is yet for us to know. If we can search our memory For a glimpse of what we see Our mind will let them live again And set their spirit free. They are gone now Absorbed in to the visions Of our reflective past Scattered with the pictures Of our Trike our bike, The GTO and pickup truck And familiar things we know. They are gone now To a place we do not know. Fred Steele © 2017 Road Scribes of America ™ 2012
