Hello Everyone, Welcome to the July issue of FAST LANE BIKER magazine. Summer is here and in full swing lots of great events going on around the Tri-State area. As we do every issue we cover an event from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and one event from New York. This Month the New York event was the thousand Island River Run. This event is a real up and coming event. It takes place in Alexandrea Bay New York not really that far from Canada. The place is gorgeous and has some real great riding areas. Also in this issue is a tribute to Richie Pan. We lost Richie over the weekend when he and his friend Mike were hit by a car at the Smoke out Rally in North Carolina. They will be missed.

Rolling thunder ride for freedom XIX Holmdel, new jersey • september 21, 2014

story ridin’ & pics by Lutz

This event year after year still amazes me on the amount of motorcycles it draws but I wouldn’t miss it as it isn’t a ride to a party at the end but an event that really has meaning. You say your not familiar with this event? It’s a motorcycle ride, police guided, that starts in Elizabeth New Jersey at Warinaco Park. The pack roars to life and rides south through many north Jersey towns, with many supporters lining up for this event, cheering the hundreds of bikers that attend and ride. This ride eventually ends at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel, New Jersey. Once there the mood gets a bit solemn as many speakers and ceremonies are held to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for there country. Many Clubs, family and friends, worldwide, show in support of this run which is put together with much hard work by the members of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 New Jersey. Great ride and great day for a great cause.

Someday Daddy, will you take me for a ride with you So I can be a biker too I see you wear your vest with pride Can I have one with a patch that says I love to ride Maybe one day I can get a tattoo That says Harley-Davidson just like you Come on daddy, I can’t be late Don’t you know my preschool starts at eight I feel cool when we pull up in front of everyone Out of all the kids I’m the only biker’s son They all think your cool and the bikes the bomb I have so much more fun than in the car with mom Daddy, are you going to pick me up after school I just want to ride around with you I promise I won’t go to sleep So you won’t have to bungee cord me in the seat Daddy, will you take me again tomorrow or another day I’m going to pretend to be a biker today when I play Pretend to ride for ice cream like I do with you Someday like you I’ll be a real biker too © Lee Buddah Haverstic RSOA ™ As Two Wheels Turn Rolling scenery passes before my eyes Echoing sound of thunder Takes mountains by surprise Kick into fifth And the sun is shining Wind whispers seductively Into my ears One with the road One with myself Once again Through valleys of shadows Into the heat of day Riding the white line Passing families of cagers As my two wheels turn

That text you just had to make The call you just had to take That light which just turned red The consequence is someone dead That dog you so lovingly hold The child you turn to scold That right of way you refused, instead The consequence left someone dead That vacant chair you helped create The empty memories you generate That loved one's grief, those tears they shed The consequence of someone dead

Thunder m/c Jackhammer poker run 2014 marlboro, new jersey • september 27, 2014

story ridin’ & pics by Lutz

As tradition most motorcycle clubs have a memorial run to commemorate members that have gone to that great open road in the sky and the crew over at Thunder m/c are no exception. A poker run is thrown in brother Jackhammer’s honor with a ride through the backroads of Central Jersey and then ending at the clubhouse in Marlboro, New Jersey. Many bikes came out to do this run as you could tell at the end point where bikes filled the area. There’s were lots of food and beverages on hand to help get the party started! Many clubs, friends and family came out in support of this event. Many vendors were on hand, if you where in the mood to buy stuff, plus if you where in the mood to get some ink… world famous Tattoo Tony and crew where there with the Under My Skin Tattoo rv slinging some ink! Need a little ink for the bike? Glenn’s design was also pin-stripping with a little live music performed by the Bob Delrosso Band. In the end I didn’t win the poker hand but had a great time with the hospitality that Thunder m/c showed with this event...thank you!

Richie Pan As I type this I do it with a heavy heart on June the 21st the motorcycle community lost two good friends. One was a long time friend of mine Richie Pan of Dark Star Tattoos and the Horse magazine. He and Mike Nopolitno and a group friends were attending the annual Horse magazine smoke out in North Carolina. I was going through my Facebook early that morning before heading out to Pennsylvania on business. I was looking through pictures that were posted of Richie at his booth and other pictures that were from mutual friends. I remember thinking, good for him, he works hard and this is a working vacation, and he sure looks like he’s loving every minute of It. It wasn’t long after I hit RT 80 I got the call and I was in shocked at first but then I thought of how many times I got this kinda call before . Riding a motorcycle is a choice we all make. We all know the risks we take and we do it with out question. But this wasn’t a motorcycle accident. Friends that were at the event with Richie and Mike said it wasn’t ten minutes after they walked off to check out a place down the road that flashing blue lights and the sound of sirens filled the air. A few people from the Horse staff and others headed down the road hoping not to find a motorcycle wreck. A momentary feeling of relief after seeing no twisted metal. It was a good sign it wasn’t someone from the event hit on their bike. That relief didn’t last for long, Richie and Mike were struck by a single car and did not survive . The two friends left this world together way to early. I didn’t know Mike I did speak to his friends who told me Mike was a devoted husband and father along with one thing... a biker plain and simple. There was a send off ride for Mike last week from Ocean County Harley-Davidson to the funeral home in Jackson. I’m told hundreds of bikes showed up to give Mike the proper send off he would have wanted. Richie and i first met years ago at Studio 9 Tattoo before he opened Dark Star Tattoo. What can you say about Richie that the tattoo and art world hasn’t been saying for years. He was one of the most kindest most talented people you could ever know. Whatever he held in his hand, may it be a pencil, paint bush, tattoo gun or just a wrench, he could create magic. Richie was one of a kind, one part biker, one part Dead Head, one part artist and one part family man. I can honestly say I’ve never met anyone like him. If you were friend or just someone looking around the shop for the perfect tattoo, he always made time for you. It was also Richies sense of humor that made him so unique, there was always plenty of laughs with him. Richie was a devoted husband father of three and grandfather of three. Richies had requested no funeral service or wake just a memorial ride at a date to be scheduled later.

KNOW THE LAW BY ATTORNEY STEVE STAMBAUGH

T

his month I will again cover pending legislation of interest. On the motor vehicle/cycle front, we all know that Pennsylvania law requires that all motor vehicle / cycle operators have liability insurance, and that the minimum liability coverage is $15,000.00 per person and $30,000.00 per occurrence. House Bill 1258 would increase those limits to $30,000.00 per person and $60,000.00 per occurrence. While I agree that the current limits are to low, I disagree that increasing the mandatory minimum limits is the best way to protect we and our families. The best way to do that is for each of us to get the most underinsured / uninsured motorist (“UIM /UM”) coverage that we can afford. All HB 1258 will do is increase premiums for everybody. When we drive cars/ trucks, liability coverage is very expensive whereas UIM / UM coverage is inexpensive. That paradigm flips when we get on our bikes (liability coverage for bikers is inexpensive but UIM/UM coverage is expensive). However and again, personal responsibility is still the best way to protect ourselves. So, pull your vehicle and cycle policies and make sure that you have the most UIM/UM coverage, with stacking, that you can afford. Another bad pending law is Senate Bill 747, which would set a cap on punitive damage verdicts against nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The nursing home and assisted living facility industry is rife with neglect and under-staffing. Punitive damage verdicts punish and deter bad facilities from abuse and neglect. The only way to correct action by a profit a driven enterprise is to cut into the profits such entities derive from understaffed facilities. Fast Lane Biker

The next pending law of interest is the Farina / Godshall Bill, which is pending in the House but has yet to be assigned a number. This Bill would lift the ban on Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania. The only exemption from current state law is for private landowners who have land enrolled as a noncommercial regulated hunting ground. Last, on the Federal level, President Obama’s minions in Congress are at it again. The latest attack on the Second Amendment comes in the form of the “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2015”. This Act would require every purchaser of ammunition to submit a valid photo ID for every purchase of ammunition. That’s right, the Democrats don’t want to require photo ID to vote, but do want to require photo ID to purchase a bullet! Worse, if you purchase more than 1,000 rounds within a five-day period, you get reported to the U.S. Attorney General’s Office. Last, as with all Democratic gun laws, they want to create a national database, in this case one that lists everyone who purchases ammunition. There’s more to this Law, but you get the idea. In summary, if you want to effect the Laws we live under, call, write or email your elected representatives and let your voice be heard. Last and as always, please check out www.ychdoa.com and www.ndhpmf.com for upcoming rides. See you on the road,

Steve JULY 2015

Riding with Bro's Down the highway of life Throttle past regrets And right through the strife On down the road No glory or fame Content on our rides Life in the fast lane We ride to live One mile at a time And live to ride Well past our prime Old school rules That's how we play Until our last ride Takes us away © Sorez The Scribe Road Scribes Of America ™

Throwing Letters at the Wall Words are swords of feeling Unsheathed from time to time They are worse than flesh wounds They carve scars into the mind. Where some carry concealed heat I’m in possession of a pen So I can write the words I see From a time you call back when. I can sketch a verbal sunset Describe a stately pine so tall I can see what others miss I can discard what I don’t want Like throwing letters at the wall

Northeast riders mc beef n beer benefit philadelphia, pennsylvania • NOVEMBER, 9TH, 2014

story ridin’ & pics by Lutz

Whenever you get on that bike and go for a ride, it’s for the breathe of life that ride can make you feel. But on the other hand, it’s also putting your ass on the line with those around you, cars, roads and weather can challenge you ever time. As luck would have it (bad!) Northeast riders member, Bondo, had just that kinda luck. He was out on his bike taking a ride and got hit by a car causing him to become a victim of hit and run. Thankfully he survived but had some really hefty medical bills, so at times like that with out second thought his family at Northeast Riders MC put together a benefit to help him out. That my friends is a class act, but thats what we do when a brother of sister is down! The benefit was at Bullshooters Saloon and the parking lot loaded up with bikes real quick! Lots of friends, family and club members came out to show their love! There was a chinese auction, a raffle basket of cheer, a lottery tree and door prizes kept everyone busy thinking’ of winning that prize with everything goin’ to help a brother. Also as advertised plenty of adult beverage and some lip smacking’ roast beef that melted in your mouth. Chowing down and checking out all the good raffle stuff you where also being entertained by the great music of local favorite AJ Slick and the Chowder Band. Here’s to hoping a speedy recover and also knowing that you have great family and friends when the chips are down...that is what bikers are about!
