FAST LANE BIKERS very own Steve Stambaugh will be set up at the show. Steve is a really great lawyer and a good guy, so make sure you stop by his booth.

Reading motorcycle club 101st anniversary party story ridin’ and pics by Lutz

July 2015 • oley, new jersey

What can be said about Reading Motorcycles Clubs Anniversary parties that hasn’t and isn’t know by those that have been to one... simply one of top shelf bike parties out there! Oh you say you have never been too it?! Well, that being the case let me fill you in... Reading Motorcycle Clubs Anniversary party is in its 101st year and if a party sucked you know they wouldn’t keep going that many years. As mentioned earlier, this one is a bucket list gig to check out! Got to love a party that has a pre party the weekend before...which is the rope off party. A popular party like this has many coming out to claim there camping spot and if you snooze you loose! At the stroke of midnight 100s scramble to get that hot property to get ready for the real deal the following weekend. The party runs from thursday to saturday night and with many things to keep one occupied while there! One price at the door gets you camping and a bottomless mug for the weekend. For the early birds Thursday night is a real treat with the frozen t-shirt contest, you gotta see it to believe it! Then it even gets better with Tug of War, Sky Divers, Helicopter Rides, Dunk Tank, Burn Out Pit, Shit House Bike Drags, Bike Show, Tattoo Show, Hammer Game, Field Meet, Parts, Food, Vendors and Saturday night’s Beauty Pageant certainly packs them in. Live music rocks the house during the event with local and regional bands Le Compt, the Razorbacks, Snappa Head and many more. If you happen to get bored (NOT!) there are plenty of things to checkout with a nice ride on the scoot… The pagoda is a favorite and worth the ride… don’t forget to stop in and say hey and get some breakfast and a shower down the street at “the tent” at the New Life Bible Church… its a tradition! Sadly all good things come to an end all and the party ends on Sunday morning with just enough time to get you home and ready for Monday. Are you interested yet?!! Fast Lane Biker

ROLLING THUNDER photos from last year’s event!

Having served as a Sargent in the 101st & 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam Era & having witnessed the negative way that our military personal were treated during that time. I was happy to find a organization like Rolling Thunder 2 NY. They ensure that forgetting our military never happens again. Our POW & MIA issues are always up front & in the open. Our Annual Run Helps us provide our Veterans the help they need and are deserving of.

Bob DeJonge

JULY, 2016

I would like to think that in the 7 years I’ve been with Rolling Thunder, the one word that comes to mind is “Camaraderie”. Being a Veteran myself for 6 years, I’ve seen first hand, what my brothers and sisters of RT2NY have accomplished in the Veteran Community. Our Mission Statement is clear....”Leave no one Behind”. Through countless hours of voluntary service, we (because there is no “I” in team) have stood by our mission statement 110%. Not only for our POW/MIA’s but for the thousands of soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. We are always looking for new ways to help our vets. Whether it’s through our many fundraising events, or whether it’s just a sit down.... one on one...to let the soldier know that they have support they need. I am proud to call RT2NY my family.

2016 Lanz’s North Country Thousand Island’s Biker Weekend by Momma Iz & Pit

It was that time of the year again and the Pit Stop crew made it’s annual trek North to Lanz’s 10th Annual North Country Thousand Island’s Biker Weekend on June 10-12th. The Pit Stop crew has ranked this weekend high up on it’s list as one of the best biker weekend’s any righteous biker could attend. Great riding, great people, great food, and plenty of places to visit, what more can an on the road biker ask for. Usually, when we’re on the road the crew talks about our adventure’s and place’s we’ve been but this year we thought about this. Did ya’ ever go on a biker vacation and think any of these things? Wow, I’m in the best hotel and I can’t get a soda after 9. Wow, im 500 miles from home and im eating in a fast food restaurant. Or wow, I’m broke but this feel’s like every other vacation spot and could be called anywhere USA. Our trip started by leaving our home state of New Jersey and heading North for the beautiful Thousand Island’s Region of New York State. Our destination, Lanz’s Motel and RV Campground located in Clayton, NY for it’s annual North Country Thousand Island’s Biker Weekend. Lanz’s perfect location on the St. Lawrence River is just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border. The Lanzione family own’s and operate’s this motel that includes motel room’s, camping, cottages, a beach, and a pool. Every year John and Trudy welcome biker’s from all over the region to their biker weekend in it’s 10th year. This weekend is packed full of fun and adventure. Riding, bands, food, bonfires, booze cruise, they even provide limo “booze run” ride’s to town, what more can one ask for. And let’s not forget about meeting up with friends and old acquaintances from year’s past. This year we were able to get a morning start and arrived at Lanz’s early on Friday. After unpacking and meeting with John we walked down to the river. There is alway’s something new at Lanz’s and this year we were greeted by none other than the infamous Chuckie, the doll from everyone’s worst nightmare. Every year a sculpture of a motorcycle is donated for the party and this year it was donated by a an ol’ school biker named JoJo. He did a great job with this piece as evidenced by all the photo’s taken. All we can say is everybody loved Chuckie on a bike. After our visit with Chuckie it was off to downtown Clayton for lunch and a walk around town. One of our favorite restaurant’s is The Johnston House. Outdoor seating, a Koi pond, and great staff, were always more than happy to stop in and have one their specialties called Lobster Shot’s. Basically a flight with four shot glasses filled with fried Lobster and four different sauce’s. Darn, another one of our hotspots given away, Lol. After a brief stop in what we consider one of the best homemade cheese spot’s around called The River Rat Cheese store we noticed a little commotion down by the river. The town of Clayton is alway’s full of surprise’s and this year we weren’t let down. After turning the corner to the river we saw a dog flying through the air into a giant pool. The Ultimate Air Dog’s were in town doing what they do best, flying through the air. With a running start and a leap towards the pool where a bone hangs high in the air, these well trained dog’s will soar through the air as far as 25 feet. Definitely a sight to see. As Friday night quickly approached we headed back down to the beach for some hamburger’s. While eating, we noticed the band “Ripchord” was setting up for the night. We met George, the bassist from last year and we talked for a bit. His band does so some pretty good 90’s cover song’s and kept us rockin’ all night. The bonfire was lit, the band was rockin’, and we hung out late into the moonlit nite.

JULY, 2016

On Saturday, there is an annual bike run around the Thousand Island’s area. The run makes stop’s at all the hotspots around the Clayton and A-Bay area. This year’s run was in memory of SpongeBob who led the run for the past nine year’s, but sadly past last summer. When the bikers returned they were greeted with pulled pork for dinner and another local band called Minus Mike. Little did the Lanzione’s realize the biker’s had a little surprise for them. The band was stopped and Kurt presented John and Trudy a plaque in recognition of ten years of memories from their friends at biker’s weekend. Another bonfire was started and the party rocked again into the night. On Sunday when most people would be packing up to leave, not so at Lanz’s. It’s down to the beach to board the best pontoon boat cruise around where Bloody Mary’s are served to cure your hangover. After cruising for about an hour, the boat docks in A-Bay and lunch and drinks are served at The Pointe Bar and Grill. After that everyone is feeling good and it’s a boat ride back to Lanz’s for a clambake. While getting toasted on the pontoon ride back we rocked the boat to the Cupid Shuffle, laughed, and just had fun. When we docked, we saw something few people should ever have to see, sorry guy’s, lol. Kurt and Justin, two regular’s at Lanz’s stripped down to their underwear and jumped off the dock into the frigid water. Another great boat cruise on the books. Back on land, it was time for the clambake. As John’s staff served up clam’s, Lanz’s children tattooed guests (with markers) for a 2 dollar donation to St. Joseph’s. As we ate we remembered a couple we met last year, Meg and Eric, that made a killer drink for us. We waited a whole year to find out the ingredient’s. We were told they were expecting there first child any day and couldn’t attend this year. The Pit Stop crew wishes them the best and hope to see them in the future. So now its Monday, everyone is gone and we are packing up to head out. It’s peaceful, its a place I would come back too. It’s a place I would bring my children too. It’s a place where when you go into town, each store and each restaurant is privately owned and operated. You’ll have a great breakfast at the Koffee Kove, a great lunch or dinner at the Johnston House, and you may even run into a dog show like we did. You wont go broke and you wont feel like wow i could of had this at home because you cant, its not anywhere USA, its Clayton, USA.

KNOW THE LAW I

wrote last month’s article watching the sun rise in Phoenix Arizona on the first day of an 8 day bike trip with my step daughter. When you look at the pictures in this month’s article remember why we ride - to rejuvenate the soul. This trip was at the request of my 22 year old step-daughter, Katelyn. Although I started taking her younger brother on an annual bike trip a couple years back, I never imagined that Katelyn would want a trip of her own, especially since there were some pretty hard rules in my house with not many exceptions. We left in mid-May. While I initially planned a trip to New Mexico and Southern Colorado, El Nino killed that idea with record snow. I figured that Arizona would eliminate any snow worries and provide plenty of big sky and vast land views - in other words an equally awesome experience. Arizona came through with no snow but we got darn close with high temps some 20°-25° below normal, which means we rode several days with highs in the low to mid-50’s plus dancing with rain once outside of Phoenix. Be that as it may, Katelyn proved to be quite the trooper. And, as I always say, there is no such thing as a bad bike trip. As you can see from the pictures, we both had a great time. Whether waiting out a thunder storm in Flagstaff eating brick oven pizza and drinking amazing craft beer, to flying the Grand Canyon, to vast views in Monument Valley, to coming around the top end of a mesa in Mesa Verde with the temp at 44° looking at the front edge of a thunderstorm coming out of the Ute Valley hitting Fast Lane Biker

BY ATTORNEY STEVE STAMBAUGH the mesa at eye level spitting big drops of rain, the memories will last a lifetime. So, take some time, grab your wife/significant other, one of your kids, or someone special that needs a lift, plan a trip, and remember why we ride. Most of all remember - it’s the Journey, not the Destination. On a professional note, this is the time of year that Poser Attorneys come out in droves and proclaim their ability to handle biker cases. You will see them on TV and billboards, hear them on radio, and some even have the audacity to show up at and/or sponsor Biker Events, though they drive to and from our Events in the safety of their cages. They stand around spouting assurances and promises, slap your back and shake your hand. I have heard some bikers tell me that these Posers profess to have ridden dirt bikes as kids so they “know how to ride”. Right. Easy lie for a lawyer to tell, no way to disprove it. But how about this - what Biker, regardless of when he/she first rode, can ever get it out of their blood? Here’s the bottom line, riding a motorcycle is fundamentally different than driving a car. If you think that riding a bike is the same as driving a car, then you should feel free to hire a lawyer that does not ride. To think about it another way, if you were in a car accident, would you hire an attorney who neither owns nor drives a car? Of course not. Getting injured in a bike crash is bad enough, don’t get injured twice by hiring an attorney who does not ride. Last please remember to check out my clubs www.ychdoa.com and www.ndmpmf.com for Rides. And again, as always, if you haven’t joined ABATE, do so. They are the Biker’s Voice in Harrisburg. www.YCHDOA.com See you on the road
