ello everyone it’s time once again for our year in review issue . This issue features the best events of each Month during the year of two thousand and twelve. HOG RIDIN FOOLS M/C CLAM BAKE Story Ridin’ and Pics by Lutz

July 2011 • South Jersey

E

veryone that rides knows that hittin’ the events usually means you run into the typical fare of chow, dogs, burgers, etc. But bikers being bikers (and our fine taste for Cuisine) every once in a while you’ll find a party that has that something extra, such as in this case an extra couple 1000 clams (and i dont mean money!) and thats exactly how the Hog ridin’ fools m/c do it! These bunch of brothers pull out all the stops and by all attending it’s very easy to see that their clam bake run is very popular. Being mid July and great ridin weather, yeah it was f@ckin hot as a steamed cla... (well you know what i mean). Still, this event brought out many great people and great times. Clams, chicken, corn, burgers, dogs and even more clams!! and dont forget the adult refreshments on a hot July day. Vendors, lots of way cool bikes to eyeball (as well as the ladies!) and music, made the feel just right at this party. So give it up to all the brothers with the Hog ridin fools m/c for another sucessful event! ....hell I’m goin back for another dozen........!

PIG ROAST/POKER RUN TO BENEFIT ST. JUDES FOR CHILDREN Story Ridin’ and Pics by Lutz

July 17th, 2011 • Browns Mills NJ

A

nother beautiful July day and not a cloud in the sky! Time to round up some friends and go for a ride! This time around we are heading off to put some miles on with a poker run/pig roast with the proceeds going to the organization of St. Judes for Children. Now, if i haven’t said it enough we as bikers all have a soft spot for benefits ecspecially when it helps children, plus doing that on your motorcycle..twice as nice!! A nice long ride through the south Jersey pines and several different stops along the way to favorite watering holes like Jamisons, Chesterfield Inn, Plumsted Grill and ending up on the grounds of the Hornets Nest. This event was put together by local bikers, Irma and her crew put lots of work into this event, which being their first event turned out well as it was a big hit with all those attending. Great bbq, corn bread, burgers, dogs and fresh corn on the cob was piled high on everyones plates...(good stuff!) There was a variety of vendors , chinese auction and live music by the band “Random Generation” kept all busy and entertained. You could wander over to the bike show or get your ride washed up by some bikini clad beauties! Before you knew it the raffle was getting drawn and trophies handed out, “time flies when your having fun”!

WILDWOOD SPRING RALLY APRIL 26 - 30TH, 2012

PHOTOS BY LUTZ

This year the weather was cold on Friday and cold and wet on Saturday night. So people headed for some inside entertainment at some favorite bike week hot spots like the Bolaro Tuckers and the Deck, just to name a few. Sunday the sun came out early and the rally finished on a high note . The Cape Classics motorcycle club hold two events a year. One in late April and their Roar To The Shore event in September the week following Labor day. It is by far the States largest motorcycle rally . So... see you all in Wildwood in September!

KELSEY CHARITY RUN JUNE 17TH, 2012

PHOTOS BY MARK RUZICKA

The 17th Annual Kelsey Charity Run was held on Sunday, June 17th Father’s Day! This year’s Kelsey Charity Run promised to be another great Father’s Day Blast! And it was. The event kicked off with a Lime Dot Run beginning at the Manville/Hillsborough Elks. The end point was the Family Picnic at the Bridgewater Eagles club. In addition to this event, the Kelsey Charity Run was raising money by raffling off a 2012 Harley-Davidson Switchback motorcycle that was won by Al Tasherichnik and second prize is a SONY 55” 3D LED HDTV was won by Ray Misiura. Raffle tickets were $50 each and only 1,000 tickets were sold. The Kelsey Charity Run was originally established as a fund raiser exclusively for the benefit of Kelsey Kirchner, who at age two was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer which forms in nerve tissue and typically occurs in Kelsey Kirchner children under five. At the time of her diagnosis, Kelsey was given a poor chance of survival; however not willing to give up, Kelsey’s family brought her to Sloan Kettering where she underwent experimental treatments. These treatments were quite costly and not covered by insurance. Kelsey, now 20 years old, is a well adjusted, cancer free college student. Kelsey still has ongoing medical needs and the Kelsey Charity Run continues to raise funds to cover those needs. However, with Kelsey’s needs for the funds diminished, the Kelsey Charity Run has reached out to others in the local community with similar needs and now has many beneficiaries.Cost of attending was still only a $20 and this donation goes to help children battling cancer and other serious and life threatening illnesses. The first Kelsey Charity Run was organized by retired Bridgewater Police Chief Richard Voorhees along with a group of local businessmen who asked to remain anonymous. Since then the Kelsey Charity Run has raised over $1,300,000 and continues working hard raising funds. So if you missed out on the event this year come out and support this most worthwhile charity. AHDRA NORTHEAST NATIONAL NITRO DRAGS MAY 19-20, 2012 • ATCO NJ

STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ

Great day for drag racing but even better when it’s on 2 wheels! It’s even better gettin’ there on 2 wheels and with that we hopped on our scoots and putted down to Atco Raceway in Atco, NJ to see some rea.a.a.a.ly fast Harley Davidsons! From street machines, all the way to nitro breathin’ monsters, this event gets them all. Sit back in the bleachers grab an “adult” beverage (of your choice), grab some grub from one of the track food vendors and settle in for some drag racing! Sportsman class, pro class all lookin’ to get some low numbers at the finish line and high number payouts in the end. If you where waiting to see your favorite racer/class run and had a little time, take a walk through the pits and check out the action at ground level and get a pic or two with your favorite racer and or bike. Additionally one of my favs is checking out what bikes are in the parking area, usually there are some cool motorcycles to eyeball there too. With all that happening I’m seeing smoke and smellin’ nitro in the air, time to get back to the stands and have some fun.

THE GATHERING OF THE TRIBES

AUGUST 20/21st 2011 • MT. HOLLY NJ

STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ

Now most people associate Sunday with church while some other people associate sunday with “get out on the bike and go for a ride!” But when you put the two together youll probably get a person that loves God and their motorcycle. For one weekend, this brings both together to an event held near Mt. Holly NJ called “The Gathering of the Tribes”. The events purpose is to raise donations and awareness to aid Christian substance abuse programs. Christian motorcycle riders, clubs, family and friends all come out to support this and from havin’ been there several times though the years, a good time is had by all. Of course, prayer and fellowship are in order but great bbq and live christian music (involving some very well known musicians I might add), bike games and even this year, a wedding! So if you want to check out this event it truely is not much different than most bike events, all are welcome to have a good time.

BELMAR’S 2ND ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE & MUSIC FEST

JULY 22ND 2012 • BELMAR, NJ

STORY RIDIN’ & PICS BY KIEREN

The weather was beautiful down the shore for Belmar’s 2nd Annual Motorcycle and Music Fest. Almost 500 bikes showed up this year, quadruple the attendance from last year’s show. Organizers of the show are Mitch Bodine of Magoo’s Motorcycles and Brian Katz of 10th Ave. Burrito did a bang up job of booking great bands, top notch bike builders and providing tons of great food and drink vendors. You couldn’t walk ten feet without seeing something to stop you in your tracks. There was something for everyone, from Nortons to Hondas and Indians to Harleys dating from the present models and back to the 1920‘s. In addition to all the bikes there was an awesome bunch of ratrods and hotrods – drool worthy bikes and cars were everywhere. The bike builder lineup was impressive, to say the least. Belmar was graced with the likes Indian Larry Motorcycles, Lock Baker of Eastern Fabrication, Midnight Cycles, Creative Cycles, Magoo’s Motorcycles and Philabundance.org were raffeling their sweet sporty. All the proceeds from the Official Show T-shirts where donated to Aidanhasaposse.org. All afternoon and into the evening, the Belmar crowd enjoyed a great mix of bands. The roster included Belmar’s own Barry and the Penetrators, The Dirty Stayouts, Ghost and the Big Sky, Old No.7, Fast Clare and others. There were some incredible bikes in the judged show. Cycle Source Magazine and Van Wickle NAPA sponsored the “Best in Show” which went to Bob Crank’s 1951 45” flathead bobber. What a beauty! Bob took home a custom, hand painted guitar trophy as his prize (couldn’t happen to a nicer guy). Jamie Matthews took “Best Sporty,” for his Midnight Cycle ironhead Sporty sponsored by Led Sled Customs. This bike has a mean stance and looks super tight. Additional winners were Tony Hooks for “Best Chopper “ with a sweet panhead chop, Jerry Merola for “Pre 1985” and Tony Reinhardt who won “Post 1985” with his WCC Evo. For the “Antique” class, Rich Arrants’ beautiful 1946 Indian Chief won, Tommy Dolce won the “Best Euro” class and Daniel Desoucey won for “Best Asian” and Hotrod Jack from the Gasket Goons NJ won “Best Hotrod with his 1930 Model A. There were a decent amount of cars that showed up, too. The Gasket Goons NJ brought some real nice hotrods, Local legend Tommy Granger rode his sweet shovel while his wife Tulli rolled up in his 20’s Studebaker with a Ford flatty , Tommy Patton brought his ’56 Chevy gasser and there where some sweet stockers, too. The locals really came out of the woodwork with their tried and true knuckles, panheads, shovelheads and jappers- lots of real riders. All in all, the Belmar show was a treat for the senses: Bitchin’ bikes, sweet cars, great food and great music. In these tight times, it was a real gift to go to this event with no admission charge and know that any money you did spend was going to good people and good causes. Next year’s show will be on July 28th and sure to be bigger and better.

GOOCH’S GARLIC RUN

JUNE 20, 2012 • ROCKAWAY, NJ

STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ

On June Twentieth, The Blue Knights held the twenty-fifth Annual Gooch’s Garlic Run. This event benefits local children’s charities . It left from the usual staging area Rockawy Townsquare Mall off RT 80 in Rockaway New Jersey. The staging are as always was filled with vendors dealers and bike shops of all makes and models. The fully escorted ride left at six thirty sharp and headed for the iron bound section of Newark. Traditionally the event went over the bridge in to New York city’s Little Italy section, but from what sources claim were numerous noise complaints over the past few years, the end location had to be changed to Newark’s Ironbound area. The event was sponsored by Rider Insurance, Hot Rods BBQ and the Hilton Garden inn Rockaway . See you all next year!

ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com there are other threats to their e-commerce business including Amazon and Google, RevZilla is expected to survive because the market for motorcycle accessories and apparel is big and continues to grow. The technology and sophistication that RevZilla brings to their marketing efforts are evidence of the reasons they will surely continue to thrive. As an attorney who advertises in multiple arenas including the internet, magazines and our firms attendance at numerous motorcycle events through out the Delaware Valley I can attest to the fact that spreading the word that we are motorcycle accident lawyers is a full time job. In addition to the magazines and shows, I try to make myself available to speak at various motorcycle groups and answer questions not only about motorcycles, but about motorcycle insurance and its interplay with health and auto insurance as well. Knowing how difficult it is to make your business standout in a competitive field, I applaud the three founders of RevZilla for not only growing their business in a very difficult recessionary period, but also for utilizing the internet and modern technology to do it. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).

Inasmuch as I am considered a motorcycle accident lawyer throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, I am always on the look out in local magazines and newspapers for articles that are written about motorcycles and how the economy has affected the motorcycle business. As most of you know, the motorcycle business was hit pretty hard between 2008 and 2011 and has just recently begun to rebound. While reading the small business section contained in our local newspaper, I came upon an article entitled “Local start up ready for the next chapter”. This was a story about a retailer named RevZilla.com, which is in the process of moving its main headquarters from South Philadelphia to a site along Delaware Avenue, which will not only be larger, but will allow it to sell and produce more products for sale. RevZilla Motorsports, LLC is an online motorcycle retailer which was created approximately 3 years ago by three Drexel University graduates who wanted to indulge their proficiency with technology and their love of bikes. The article was written by Diane Mastrull. I don’t know whether they would have a use for a law firm that focuses on motorcycles, however, when I am in the area I plan on stopping by and introducing myself. The owners of this venture indicate that they have been successful in blending the use of the internet and their passion for bikes by producing video’s played on You Tube on topics ranging from serious motorcycle product reviews for both dirt and street riders, to reviews of Harley Davidson’s and all makes of sports bikes. Although the article stresses that Fa s t L a n e B i k e r
