A rider’s best friend. Why do so many riders choose Rider Insurance? Maybe it’s our great rates, excellent coverage, and hassle free service. Or the fact that our Claims Adjusters have motorcycle specific expertise. Could be our built-in accessories coverage, which is unmatched in the industry. We’d like to think that the real reason is the simple fact that we’re as loyal to our customers as they are to us.

ello everybody and welcome to summer, June has finally arrived . There have been quite a few events in May, although the weather hasn’t been the best due to the rain but folks are still tuning out in large numbers . Late in April our Delmarva issue hosted OC Spring Bike Week at Trader Lees in Ocean City Maryland. The whole FAST LANE BIKER family rode down to show support for it’s sister publication. Although the weather on the ride down wasn’t the best part and getting together with all the franchises made the trip worth while. In the future, we are all looking forward to the fall event when we will team up with Delmarva Bike Week and then that issue will be the official magazine of Delmarva Bike Week . This issue is pretty much dedicated to Wildwood Spring Motorcycle Rally, our photographer Lutz pounded the pavement down in Wildwood to get as many good photos as he could for us . Lutz said the turnout wasn’t the best do to the rain but everybody seem to make the best of it and enjoy themselves, despite the weather.

WILDWOOD SPRING RALLY APRIL 26 - 30TH, 2012

PHOTOS BY LUTZ

This year the weather was cold on Friday and cold and wet on Saturday night. So people headed for some inside entertainment at some favorite bike week hot spots like the Bolaro Tuckers and the Deck, just to name a few. Sunday the sun came out early and the rally finished on a high note . The Cape Classics motorcycle club hold two events a year. One in late April and their Roar To The Shore event in September the week following Labor day. It is by far the States largest motorcycle rally . So... see you all in Wildwood in September!

LAUNCHES POWER TRIP SWEEPSTAKES

Harley-Davidson® motorcycle owners can share their passion with a friend who rides a competitive brand motorcycle when entering the Harley-Davidson Power Trip Sweepstakes, which runs now through July 31, 2012. Harley owners will get a chance to invite a non-Harley riding friend along with them to experience one of Harley-Davidson’s legendary Authorized Tours. The winners get to choose from six iconic rides around the globe and show their friend the true feeling of riding a Harley-Davidson. Entries in the Power Trip Sweepstakes must include one Harley-Davidson owner and one friend of the owner who rides a nonHarley-Davidson motorcycle. In separate random drawings, two winners and their referred friend will be selected; one in which the Harley-Davidson owner is also a member of the Harley Owners Group® (HOG) and another in which the Harley-Davidson owner is not a HOG member. Each winner and friend will select as a prize one of six epic adventures hosted by Harley-Davidson Authorized Tours. The six available tours are: Faaker See & European Bike Week (Europe), Best of the Alps (Europe), Wild West (USA), Down Under (Australia), National Parks (USA) and New England (USA). The prize includes all travel expenses, including the use of two Harley-Davidson motorcycles on the tour. The tours are six to 14 days long depending on which is selected by the winner. ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com Given that riding season is finally in bloom, I want to T his month I want to address an issue that I have not discussed in detail before, but it is one that comes up constantly when answering questions for clients and those of you who e-mail and call with your questions. The issue is that of medical payment coverage or what is commonly referred to as PIP (personal injury protection) coverage. As most of you are aware, your auto policies, in contrast to your motorcycle policies, require $5,000.00 in medical payment coverage in Pennsylvania, and normally $250,000.00 in medical payment coverage in New Jersey. However, in New Jersey, most policies have a deductible and 20% co-pay up to the first $5,000.00, whereas in Pennsylvania there are no co-pays or deductibles. M o t o rcy c l e policies, on the other hand, rarely, if ever, contain any coverage for medical payments, because it is not required in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. As a result, most people assume that it is unavailable and/or too expensive to purchase, so I decided to do some investigation to determine if medical coverage is available on motorcycle policies and, if so, how much does it normally cost. The answers varied widely depending on which insurance company you choose. I was advised that my own insurance company (State Farm) does not offer medical coverage on my motorcycle policy, however, many insurance companies, both large and small, do offer the coverage. Most insurance companies vary in the amount they offer from a minimum/maximum of $1,000.00 to $10,000.00. The cost also varies from a low of $32.00 per year for $2,000.00 worth of coverage from an internet insurance company to $200.00-$400.00 per year for $5,000.00-$10,000.00 worth of coverage through more traditional insurance companies.

Fa s t L a n e B i k e r

Fortunately, many of my clients have some form of private health insurance through their employers, which in most cases will cover the medical bills incurred in a motorcycle accident. However, as many of you have found out, there are often high deductibles and co-pays that go along with this coverage and often there are burdensome restrictions as to where you can go for treatment. Unfortunately, for those who do not have any form of health coverage and have been incurred medical bills as a result of an accident, the situation is much worse as medical bills, even small ones, can be financially devastating. Although it is virtually impossible to purchase enough medical insurance on your motorcycle policy to cover all potential medical bills incurred as a result of an accident, depending on which company you select, it may be affordable to purchase at least minimal medical coverage that would cover not only your deductibles and/or co-pays, but would also help pay some of the medical expenses if you are involved in an accident and do not have any health insurance coverage at all. Even though I realize that purchasing medical coverage may not be affordable to every rider, I would suggest spending a few minutes investigating on your own to find out if medical coverage is available from your company and if so, what it would cost to add it to your policy. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).

Someday ~ Lee Buddah Haverstic Daddy, will you take me for a ride with you So I can be a biker too I see you wear your vest with pride Can I have one with a patch that says I love to ride Maybe one day I can get a tattoo That says Harley-Davidson just like you Come on daddy, I can’t be late Don’t you know my preschool starts at eight I feel cool when we pull up in front of everyone Out of all the kids I’m the only biker’s son They all think your cool and the bikes the bomb I have so much more fun than in the car with mom Daddy, are you going to pick me up after school I just want to ride around with you I promise I won’t go to sleep So you won’t have to bungee cord me in the seat Daddy, will you take me again tomorrow or another day I’m going to pretend to be a biker today when I play Pretend to ride for ice cream like I do with you Someday like you I’ll be a real biker too Through And Through ~ Bob "Bikerwolf" Bryant Chrome shining in the full moon light Twist the throttle and take to flight Leave the hassles of life behind Feel the wind and free your mind

Consequence ~ LP Scerri

Lean your iron into a curve Keep her steady, do not swerve Let the feeling sooth your soul Shift the gears and let her roll

That text you just had to make The call you just had to take That light which just turned red The consequence is someone dead

The bike you’re riding is a part of you You are a man that no one else can see through You like the simpler things in life You stand your ground, not afraid of strife

That dog you so lovingly hold The child you turn to scold That right of way you refused, instead The consequence left someone dead

Thank God he let you ride again To sooth your soul and feel his wind Not even your woman truly understands you Because you’re a biker through and through

HARLEY-DAVIDSON REFRESHES KEY LUBRICANT PRODUCTS Upgraded Formula and New Ergonomic Bottles

Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Accessories® has upgraded the formula and packaging of three of its key lubricant products. Screamin’ Eagle® SYN3® Full Synthetic Lubricant (P/N 62600005, $11.95 quart) and Genuine Harley-Davidson H-D® 360 Motorcycle Oil 20W50 (P/N 62600007, $7.49 quart) are now blended with a cutting-edge polymer viscosity modifier (VM) to improve cold-temperature flow, maintain fluid thickness better when hot, and reduce viscosity breakdown so the oil remains fresher for a longer period of time. Recommended oil-change intervals remain the same. Formula+ Transmission and Primary Chaincase Lubricant (P/N 62600004, $8.95 quart) is also updated with a new and specific VM that adds thickening efficiency and improves shear stability by more than 30 percent. The new formula provides better film thickness and permits better load carrying capacity and bearing protection in the transmission. SYN3, H-D 360 and Formula+ are now packaged in a new one-quart bottle featuring an ergonomic shape and a spout that pours 30 percent faster with an “anti-glug” design for easier flow control. The bottles have new film-coated labels, a view stripe to show the amount of oil, and are Plastic Identification Code #2, which can be recycled in most locations. KO S C O HARLEY-DAVIDSON
