ell, March is here and it’s time once again for Daytona Beach Bike Week which is the official first sign of life in the motorcycle industry in the North East. After a cold winter the weather should finally start to warm up. A lot of you are going to notice the magazine has changed a little bit. We’ve decided that we would combine the New York and New Jersey issues into one magazine. This will give our advertisers more exposure and at the same time all of our readers will have events calendars and coverage from both New York and New Jersey. We think it’s going to be a good thing for everyone . We hope you’ll enjoy reading this as much as we are going to enjoy creating it.

AMERICAN LEGION LEGION RIDERS 455 BIKE BLESSING APRIL 2012 • NEW EGYPT, NJ
STORY RIDIN’ & PICS BY LUTZ
Out for a Sunday mornin’ scoot on the bike and stumbled across this one (always an eyecatcher when you pass by a parking lot full of bikes!) I just had to pull in (with camera in tow of course!) and check it out. It turned out to be a few chapters of the American legion riders, headed off by local chapter 455, putting on a get together to bless their bikes. Combing the crowd and gettin’ a couple of pics of some nice bikes I ran into some old friends and even a couple of new ones. I even knew Pastor Jack who officiated the event! With coffee, donuts and some good words preached by the pastor, it seemed to take the chill out the late April morning. Now the only thing left to do was to finish the day off with a nice ride! Gonna be lookin for this one in a couple of months.

Road Scribes
Fellowship, what does that mean to you I can tell you what it means to me It’s the same interest of people with a common bond Built on love, loyalty, honor, respect, and integrity It’s like a Brotherhood or MC but without the patch Together in the spirit of the pen, the wind and road Its old school brothers and sisters Their saddled baggage carries the load It’s a muse that has vision And a dream that becomes reality Where the founders, guardians, and members Share their lives through their love of poetry A fellowship of road scribes Sharing memories and miles In hopes to touch the lives of others Through their ink and with their smiles
Yesterdays when I was young I was allowed to hang around Some of what I saw and done I'll take with me to the ground I chose to go my separate way Soon after I rode alone There seemed to be a destiny A proverbial fork in the road I followed my heart, bared my soul On two wheels and open roads Pen and paper in my saddlebags I scribed my way throughout Decades later I found myself With a patch upon my back Did not know as things unfolded I was a pawn in a game of chess A few years wasted or lessons learned Depends on yer point of view Proud of who I have become And the fact I made it through The Pen, the Wind, the open Road For which I had always longed Have brought me into a Fellowship With trusted Sisters and Bro's

ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com Given our firms reputation as motorcycle accident attorneys in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, during the riding season we get quite a few calls wherein potential clients are calling to advise that they have just been involved in an accident with a deer. Perhaps even more common, is a motorcycle accident involving loose gravel, wet leaves, or a pothole. Most of these individuals are calling a law firm which focuses their practice on motorcycle accidents so that they can explain what happened and find out if they have a claim against anyone or anything involved in the accident. To begin with, the deer situation; unless there is another vehicle that was somehow involved in the collision with the deer and then took off from the scene of the accident, in virtually all of the situations where the accident involves just the deer, there will not be a claim for any type of damages except property damage, assuming you have collision coverage. However, over the last 22 years, our firm has handled a few cases wherein there was a passenger involved and he/she sustained significant injuries. In that situation, depending on the facts involved, the passenger may have a claim against the driver of the motorcycle. Regardless of how the motorcycle accident happened, you want to make sure that you read the motorcycle’s insurance declarations Page to see what benefits, if any, are available to the passenger. If there are no medical benefits to be found, in many cases, the passenger’s private health insurance will cover the injuries caused by the motorcycle accident. An experienced motorcycle attorney may also collect lost wages if the injured person has disability on any policy. FA S T L A N E B I K E R
If the accident involves leaves or any other type of road defect, I would suggest that, like the situation involving the motorcycle accident with the deer, the ability to make a successful claim for injuries is fact specific. Therefore, if you are ever involved in an accident involving a defect on the road or of the road, especially if it is oil or loose gravel, you immediately contact a motorcycle accident attorney to investigate the facts. As stated over the years, we have had perhaps a dozen or so cases wherein our client went down as a result of gravel or oil. In one case we had a situation where a client went down due to water being improperly dumped onto the roadway and we had another situation wherein an oil truck was leaking oil which caused my client to go down. Fortunately, in both situations, local police were able to follow the trail that led to where the trucks were being used. Needless to say, this made our clients claims much less difficult to prove. My point is, when and if you are ever involved in any type of motorcycle accident, you want to call an attorney who focuses his practice on motorcycle accidents in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).
Sincerely,
LEE D. GABER, Esquire
