ello everyone and welcome to May. We got lucky this year in the motorcycle industry at least here in New Jersey. The weather has been warm and dry. Just what we needed after the mild Winter we had .You may notice that we have made an up grade in the paper for the magazine every year we try to make changes for the better. This time we upgraded the cover stock and some of the interior pages. There is a lot going on around the State in May as you can see our event calendar is pretty full this Month.. So get out and support some of the events in your area or make a day of it and take a ride across the state and check out something new.

STYLING CHIEF WILLIE G. DAVIDSON TO RETIRE AFTER 49-YEAR LEGENDARY DESIGN CAREER
Willie G. to Remain Involved as Brand Ambassador, and in Special Design Projects as Chief Styling Officer Emeritus Motorcycle Industry Visionary Built Unrivaled Motorcycle Design Group, Established Company’s Pre-Eminence in Styling Leadership. After nearly 50 years as head of styling, Willie G. Davidson is retiring from Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HOG) April 30, 2012. Willie G., Senior Vice President and Chief Styling Officer, is widely recognized as a legend in the world of motorcycling and motorcycle design. He will continue his involvement with the company as an ambassador at motorcycle rallies and events, and through special design projects as Chief Styling Officer Emeritus. “Throughout my life, I have been truly fortunate to have the opportunity to marry my passion for design with my love for this amazing brand that runs so deeply in my veins,” Willie G. said. “What’s most rewarding has been to see the impact our motorcycles have on the lives of our customers. Everything we do in styling is based on the notion that form follows function, but both report to emotion.” Over the course of his career, Willie G., 78, built a design team at Harley-Davidson that established the company’s unrivaled leadership in custom, cruiser and touring motorcycles. Grandson of one of the company’s founders, William A. Davidson, and son of William H. Davidson, its second president, Willie G. joined the company as its first head of styling in 1963. With responsibility for the look of all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, landmark motorcycles to emerge from Willie G’s styling studio team include the Super Glide, which established the factory custom category in 1971, Low Rider, Heritage Softail Classic, Fat Boy, V-Rod and Street Glide. He is one of 13 HarleyDavidson executives who purchased the company from AMF, Inc. in 1981.

GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com Given that riding season is finally in bloom, I want to touch on the topic of DWI/DUI as many riders will end up at destinations where alcohol is being served. I feel that it is my duty to inform all of you that the penalties for DUI/DWI are getting harsher and more expensive every year. Though I have written on this topic in the past, it again merits discussion given the .08 limit in most every state. For many of us, this means that two beers or drinks in rapid succession will put us very close to the limit, especially if not ingested with food. While the penalties for a .08 to a .10 may not be terrible in some states, especially if it’s your first offense, two beers often leads to three or four and that’s when we start getting into trouble. The penalties for driving under the influence vary widely from state to state however, in NJ, in most cases, a first offense will trigger a minimum seven (7) month license suspension and fines upwards of $1,000.00 plus attorneys fees. Adding insult to injury, if you are a PA resident charged with DWI while riding in New Jersey, you will not have the opportunity, even if it is your first offense, to utilize the ARD program usually offered to first offenders in PA and in most cases will have your license suspended for one (1) full year in PA. Normally first offenders in PA, not involved in accident, will be eligible for the ARD program which requires drug and alcohol evaluation and fines but rarely a license suspension. However, this program is only available one (1) time, after that, in PA if you are convicted of DUI within the next ten (10) years, you will do a minimum of five (5) days in prison and receive an automatic twelve (12) month license suspension along with extensive fines and penalties.

If your blood alcohol is higher than .10 and you are charged with a second offense within a ten (10) year period in PA, the mandatory jail term grows to thirty (30) days, and another one year license suspension. Similarly in New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, for each subsequent offense, the fines, potential jail time and the license suspensions grow harsher with each offense. Now I know that every one of you reading this column understands that if you are convicted of DWI/DUI, there are penalties. However, experience has taught me that most of the public doesn’t understand how severe the penalties and license suspensions can be. Furthermore, unlike most other criminal offenses, there is very little room to plea bargain on a DUI/ DWI, as most states have mandator y fines, jail terms and license suspensions. As a result, many clients are very upset when they learn that they may lose their license for up to a year, even for a first offense. Given that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, please be careful and if you know you may be drinking, a designated driver is always a great idea!!! Directions: Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat; lightly oil the grate. Cook the corn on the preheated grill, turning occasionally, until the corn is tender and specks of black appear, about 10 minutes; set aside until just cool enough to handle. Slice the kernels off of the cob and place into a bowl. Combine the warm corn kernels with the green pepper, diced tomato, onion, cilantro, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper; toss until evenly mixed. Set aside for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend before serving.

Ingredients 1 hot dog 1 slice Cheddar cheese 1 slice bacon

Break the cheese slice into 2 pieces and stuff each piece into the slit in the dog. Directions: Layer onion slices on cut side of two potato halves; top with other potato half. Wrap each potato with two bacon strips. Secure with toothpicks. Place on a lightly greased baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until potato is tender and bacon is crispy. Discard toothpicks.
Ingredients 1 cup dark brown sugar 2/3 cup bourbon 1 cup light soy sauce 4 cloves garlic 3 pounds country style pork ribs
