New Jersey New York

Hello everyone and welcome to the August issue of FAST LANE BIKER New York /New Jersey. It’s been a great Summer with a lot of things going on . Now with Sturgis just a few weeks away, we start to count down the days of Summer. The Winter was so brutal last year that no one is looking forward to any type of season change at least as far as temperature. But try as we may, there isn’t much we can do about it. For most of us we’re all looking forward to the Cape Classics Roar to the Shore in Wildwood in early September. We are also looking forward to the Race Of Gentlemen in October. This race will be a four day event featuring pre war bikes and car drag racing on the beach in Wildwood. We were there last year and cant wait for this one of a kind event to happen again.

YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED

GET V-TWIN THUNDER ON THE AIR WITH JAY BARBIERI & MICHELE SMITH For 14 years American Thunder on the SPEED Channel ruled the airways as the highest rated motorcycle magazine show ever then suddenly it was gone. In an effort to keep the show alive in 2009 Discovery’s HD Theater picked up the options and brought the show back as Two Wheel Thunder. Despite high ratings and a loyal fan base that show too disappeared after one season. The question to this day for millions of fans is simply “why”? The answer may shock many. The networks no longer felt there was a viable audience for motorcycle television and an audience that ranged from 35 - 55 year olds just wasn’t big enough to hold ratings. This rational only proves one thing: suits behind desks don’t ride and have no idea about the camaraderie and lifestyle that the American motorcycle sub culture is built around. During the years that American Thunder and Two Wheel Thunder dominated the motorcycle television space Michele Smith hosted for over 10 years becoming an iconic figure in the biker world and I joined her for six of those years not only as a Co-host but also as the Executive producer. When the shows ended both Michele and I were shocked but figured that times were changing and the popularity of our shows were fading into the sunset, after so many years of success isn’t a bad way to go out. So we graciously moved on to explore different opportunities, I had a beautiful son and spent most of my time raising him enjoying every second and Michele continued here modeling and acting career on both the East coast and West coast. However in the back of both our minds we still felt a connection to the fan base that the networks were so quick to dismiss, we both still ride and both enjoy the same passion as millions do on the open road. There was always an undercurrent of support from our fan base because as we know, unlike executives who push pencils, the biker community is nothing less than a band of brothers and sisters who will always be loyal and there for each other. Both Michele and I were, honestly, moved by the loyalty from viewers who asked mainly the same question again and again: “When are you guys getting back on TV”. This support prompted Michele and I to reunite for the first time in 3 years at the Myrtle Beach Bike Fest this May to see first hand what kind of reception we would receive and true to form the biker community was honest and genuine about wanting another show. Wanting something and getting something are to very different things and many times simply never mesh. How could we do another show when networks were so blind? Knowing a few things about the TV industry and a bit about the Internet, I posed this question: “Would you watch a show with Michele and I if it were on the Internet only. Meaning on our own YouTube channel and or available to download on iTunes for free. You don’t need cable, a DVR and the shows would be available world wide all the time any time”. Your response was a 100% yes! So here we go folks if you really want us bringing you all of the great rallies, rides, products and bikes in the world of American motorcycles with a lot less editing you have the power to bring us back. Go to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/888865745/v-twin-thunder As always thanks you for your support! Hope to see everyone on the road again soon.

Badtimes Given to many varying emotions of thoughts and of notions. Like the storm clouds that swept, over him the melancholia has crept . Head hung low, eyes gray and downcast This has come before, before it did not last in his heart, on his mind, the pain Gloom descends on him like winter rain. Wisdom has told him why this is not the time to cry. Even though depressions deep the soul has not time to weep. Then like clouds that disperse Slowly ever like a curse, Remedies, of good times return melancholia slowly, surely to spurn.

The End

Regrets and Demons LP Scerri Gave my life to a reckless wind Left my home, moved in with sin How I long to go back again It's too late for me Burned my bridges and broke a heart Like a fool I tore it apart Should have known right from the start It's too late for me Regrets and demons, thought left behind Their scars run deep within my mind They've stripped my soul and so I find It's too late for me Lost my ego, buried my pride In the shadows I now reside A life that fate has cast aside It's too late for me The years and miles have left me older That reckless wind's a lot less bolder The empty nights, how they've grown colder It's too late for me The road to redemption bares many a hole Bridges burned exact a toll Recompense to never tell my soul It's too late for me

ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com Nationwide …… are they really on your side? We have all heard the cute jingles from the insurance companies, they all have them, but a recent case just handed down by a Berks County Judge speaks volumes as to how this Nationwide actually treats its insureds. It all started back in 1996 when the Berg’s, who were insured with Nationwide, were involved in an automobile accident. They brought their Jeep Cherokee to a Nationwide approved body shop and were told it was totaled to the tune of over $25,000.00. However, in spite of being told that the “whole body was twisted”, Nationwide sought another opinion and received an estimate for less that half of the $25,000.00 and insisted that the vehicle be repaired. Just imagine if they were responsible for repairing your motorcycle, which happens all of the time, unless you had purchased collision coverage from your own insurer. Berks County Judge Sprecher wrote in his opinion “Nationwide’s actions in this case showed, reckless indifference to its own insured

when it permitted the Jeep to be repaired and returned to the Berg’s to be driven on public roads.” He further added that Nationwide was willing to risk their insureds lives to save itself money on the collision claim. Once the Berg’s found out what happened they contacted a lawyer and sued Nationwide. The case went on until just recently when Judge Sprecher awarded $18 million in punitive damages to the Berg’s and an additional $3 million to their attorney’s as fees. Unfortunately, Mrs. Berg passed away from cancer at the age of 62 this past April never knowing the outcome of her case. Can you imagine how they would treat you if you made a motorcycle accident claim against them? As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLELAW (1-888-292-5352). Sincerely,
