Hello everyone and welcome to the November issue of FAST LANE BIKER New York /New Jersey . So far this year the riding weather has been fantastic It kind of reminds me of a few years back when we were all riding all the way up until December, but we will have to wait and see. Its hard to believe by the time I type this letter next Month it will be time for the International; motorcycle show at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC. We welcome in this issue the newest Indian motorcycle dealer in New Jersey, Rollin’ Fast Cycle Sports got the green light from Indian last month. STORY FROM DEESNIDERSRIDE.COM
SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2014 • HEMPSTEAD LIDO BEACH PARK, NY
Dee Snider, singer, songwriter for Twisted Sister, actor and television and radio personality once again lead thousands of motorcycle riders as part of his annual ride for charity on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Town of Hempstead Lido Beach Park. This was the twelfth year that Dee Snider has sponsored his popular ride, and the second year that the event focused on fighting hunger on Long Island to benefit Long Island Cares, Inc., the regional food bank and hunger assistance organization founded by the late Harry Chapin in 1980. This year, more than 1,500 riders and guests participated in Snider’s ride, which is the largest event of its kind on Long Island.
to get by. We’re very fortunate that Harry Chapin had the vision to establish this great organization and food bank thirty-four years ago, and it has grown to meet the changing needs of our communities with some very creative programs like their satellite programs in Freeport and Lindenhurst, along with their mobile outreach units for our veterans, seniors, and the homeless. I’m very proud to continue Harry Chapin’s great work and support Long Island Cares. I was glad that many more people joined me on September 7th to fight hunger in our communities.” In addition to Snider leading the pack of riders, several of his celebrity friends also be joined in to support the event including Fred Norris, WBAB morning show hosts Roger and JP and others. The food, live entertainment and spirit of caring that Dee has created attracted so many people including families and children that came together for a very good cause. We’re very grateful to Dee and the Town of Hempstead for all of their support. Fast Lane Biker would like to thank Full Throttle Magazine and Long Island Cares for inviting us to this event.
“There are more than 320,000 Long Islanders in need of emergency food and community support services because of reductions in critical programs like food stamps, unemployment and other safety net supports,” said Snider. “I’ve seen the work of Long Island Cares first hand and know how important their services are for families, children, and others who rely upon the assistance of charitable organizations just FAST LANE BIKER

RIDE TO SKATE 8 STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ
MAY, 2014 • PHILADELPHIA, PA
(Yeah, I know this is a late story but thoughts of spring are in it as we go into cold months!) Heard a lot of this gig, a loose word of mouth gathering of “old school” bikes sounded good to me so off I went on The Scoot to check it out. Held under route 95 over pass near the FDR Skatepark in Philadelphia PA & advertised as “Ride to Skate 8” . This is the eighth year Philly has been host to this event and although not really publicly announced and not like your average “hot dog and hamburger” bike meet this attracted riders from different states on some old, new, pretty and ugly scooters, American and metric. Basically the meeting was all about “ride what you got and come hang!” A few noticeable vendors that appealed to the crowd showed up with some goodies to checkout and buy too. Plenty of old and new scoots comin’ and goin’ all day... great stuff to look at and plenty to fill the camera with. If you dig this type of garage custom rides than this is the place! After checkin’ it out I’m already puttin’ it on my calender for next year!

ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com better off handling the case on their own. Usually when the other party has minimal coverage, a surgery is involved and there is no health insurance available. We simply offer advice as to what they should do free of charge. Last but not least, 4) The client has an older bike and has put a substantial amount of money into it and the insurance companies won’t pay to put it back to the way it was before the accident. Many have collision coverage but very few have actually called to advise their insurance company of the upgrades they have made over the years. Unfortunately, the insurance company will not pay for these upgrades, regardless of fault. The law only requires them to pay for the actual value of the bike itself – not the accessories or upgrades. Some clients have purchased options coverage, but most have not and still expect to be compensated for additional chrome or paint and the insurance companies just don’t see it that way. Hopefully you will never be in a motor vehicle or motorcycle accident, but if you are, don’t become a disgruntled client, make the appropriate changes now, get health insurance, increase your policy limits – especially your uninsured/underinsured coverage and, if you have a custom bike, insure it as such. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).
Over the past 24 years or so, my firm has had a few clients who actually wanted to switch law-firms. I know that may be hard to believe, but it has happened. Hey, you can’t please everyone.... My assistants and I were discussing this and we came to the realization that it generally happens when one of a few things have occurred; 1) The client has no health insurance, has been denied any sort of public assistance and is now being put into collections, in spite of our best efforts to keep them out of collections. 2) The client told us he had “Full Coverage” was badly injured and later came to realize he had waived any and all underinsured/ uninsured coverage and collision coverage (usually the case when insured with GEICO or Progressive. 3) We advised our client that the vehicle that caused the accident had an insufficient amount of coverage to adequately compensate them for their lost wages, medical bills, out-of-pockets and pain and suffering. Quite often the amount of liability coverage carried by the responsible party is $15,000.00, which is the minimal amount required by PA and NJ. Most often this is the same amount our client carries, yet they feel the other person should have to personally “pay” for their damages. However, if the situation was reversed and you caused the accident, and you carried the same “minimal” coverage, that is all the person you injured would be able to recover from you and your policy. There have actually been times where in certain situations we have told a potential client that they didn’t really need an attorney and that they would be
