Hello everyone and welcome to the September issue of “Fast Lane Biker” magazine.

Mark Ruzicka EDITOR

Ma

We have been working on some new improvements here at Fast Lane Biker. The first one is the FREE digital issue emailed to you every month. We’ve already had a couple of thousand people sign up and we are looking to get more next month. There are a lot of events around the Tri-state area in September, it always seems to be the craziest month for us. First Wildwood and than Delmarva, the areas biggest events back to back every year.

There are a few major storms stirring down south right now. Let’s just hope they go else where. A lot of people look forward to these two events all year but hey, it’s Hurricane season.

HARLEY DAY & SUMMER FESTIVAL

STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ

AUGUST 30, 2015 • ENGLISHTOWN NJ

It always seems to be

mother natures way to make it very hot on a Harley day at Englishtown, but even with the blistering heat this event brings out all of the diehards.

Top fuel, street, modified, all out to win the race and if you like motorcycle racing this is the place! As bike after bike went down the track many in the stands rooted for their favorite ones. In between races you could take a walk and check out the vendors, get something to drink (especially on a day like it was on this hot day!!) After a cold one, you could checkout the swap meet which was loaded with tons of goodies from bike parts from motorcycle related items like jewelry, clothing and leather . goods .The band Moroccan Sheepherders belted out live music for those to hear. Iron C Cycles had their booth setup displaying their “ services and featuring “Dynacycle Engine Oil” which is what we hear to be “the” oil for the race and street bikes. Dave Perewitz, master bike builder had his trailer displaying a few of his creations. And local hometown New Jersey “ “Strip Club Choppers” had their trailer and scooters AND several ladies dressed for the occasion. This isn’t a yearly event so when it comes around be sure not to miss it!

A Memory.. Forgotten...

Wertless

It's where the rubber meets the highway And the bullshit's left behind Where the twisting of the throttle Sends shivers down your spine When you find those special moments Out there in the wind Knowing that the price you paid You would gladly pay again Where Bike and Rider become one Out there on the road Man and machine finely tuned As throttle thunder roars A place where despair can be tossed aside Like an old and rusted part Replaced with hope like a brand new chain And a timed ignition spark Lean into expressways curve A gear up on the straight Front wheel lifts up off the ground For a moment and it feels Great!

When miles past Have worn me down And the time has come To sit this run out Will I have left Something behind Something worthwhile Through the miles of Rhymes Or will my words Just fade in the wind Will the ink run dry From my weathered pen These thoughts I ponder As each day passes With every mile I ride And each tank full of gas Will it even matter That I was here at all That I paid my dues Out there on the road That there were many Who called me Brother That I earned respect From many others Will I be remembered For the things I have done Or will I just be A memory forgotten

Born out of wedlock A prodigal son Half of his life Spent behind bars Prospecting patches Too good for his back Feds on his tail And cops on his ass Now don't get me wrong The Brother was righteous Yet a twist of fate Labeled him worthless A Poet, a writer A son of a bitch A bastard stretched Way beyond his means Ashes to ashes From dusk until dawn In this game called life He was just a pawn

© Sorez Road Scribes Of America ™ The End Never know what lies Just around the bend A road of potholes Filled with gravel Could just spell the end So live each day As if it's the last Enjoy each mile Ride away from the past Keep the rubber side down And the sun on your back 'Cause ya just don't know If this day is your last © Sorez Road Scribes Of America ™ FAST LANE BIKER

© Sorez RSOA ™ The Death Of A Poet A pen silenced Once it had spoken As dreams unfolded And hope was a well From which ink was drawn Heartaches expressed Through lines of rhymes Joyous moments Experience shared A page now empty Never to be filled With words of wisdom Or juxtapose prose The Death of a Poet Shall go unnoticed Except by those Who knew the Poet well © Sorez Road Scribes Of America ™

28TH ANNUAL JAM ON MOTORCYCLE NATIONAL SWAP MEET NOVEMBER 15 2015 • PA FARM SHOW COMPLEX • HARRISBURG PA

STORY RIDIN’ AND PICS BY LUTZ

This swap meet that’s put on by Jam-On Productions is easily becoming my “go to” swap meet! Well worth the ride, because it’s got what your looking for and if you can’t find it there, well I guess they just don’t make it!! As soon as you walk in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex it’s very difficult to figure which way to go… too much bike stuff as far as the eye can see. Tins, motors, transmissions, etc… without a doubt you can build a custom or stock Harley Davidson motorcycle, as long as you brought your wallet! Don’t wanna piece one together?! Well thats ok because there are some ready for the road available there too! Plenty for the ladies too see and shop too, that’s if their not attracted to the parts and motorcycles as well. Motorcycle related goodies like clothing, jewelry, helmets, etc… sure too keep all happy. What’s impressive everything is under one roof, and so close to the holidays! Additionally one of the favorite things that this swap meet has as near the end of the meet, there is an auction on various parts and you can get some really great parts if your bid gets it. So break out of the winter blues, take a ride and see for yourself its one of the best out there!

KNOW THE LAW BY ATTORNEY STEVE STAMBAUGH

I

how long did you wait, was it safe to pull out, etc. Either way, you may get stopped. The bottom line is that what you do and how you act when you decide to ride on red may create a police encounter. So, the longer you wait and the safer you pull out, the less likely you will be to generate a police encounter. On a separate note I threw in a few pictures of my recent bike trip to New England with my step son. It was good to leave the dog days of early August behind us as we rode to the cooler temps of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. We did a whale watch in Bar Harbor and hit the jackpot. Lots of pods of whales, spouts everywhere. Humpbacks, Rights and even some Minks. The Whale Watch Lady said it was the most sightings of the season but what do I know. The lobster was cheap up yonder and while don’t like the stuff the boy does and he had his fill. Lord knows they pile it on up there. Rain or shine, warm or cold, your children will love that you spend time with them and what better way to do it than on the back of your iron horse. Last please remember to check out www.ychdoa.com and www.ndmpmf. com for Rides. And again, as always, if you haven’t joined ABATE, do so. They are the Biker’s Voice in Harrisburg and now they have brought you the right to Ride On Red as well as your Right to Chose whether or not to wear a helmet. www.YCHDOA.com See you on the road

will address Pennsylvania’s newest biker friendly law - the Ride On Red law. Regular readers will know that I have been supporting this Bill from its inception, which was brought to us care of ABATE. Here is what you need to know. First and foremost, the law does NOT go into effect until September 18th, 2016. Governor Wolfe signed the law on July 20th however laws signed by the Governor do not go into effect for 60 days, thus the delay. September 18th - not before. Second, the law applies to both motorcycles and any other motor vehicles. That said, larger motor ve vehicles typically have enough metal to trigger traffic light sensors but if the sensors, the lights, the lighting systems, etc., are defective, then other motor vehicles have the same right to proceed as outlined herein. Third, the law only applies if your vehicle fails to trigger the traffic signal or the signal otherwise fails to cycle or is defective. This creates a grey area - how long do you have to wait? I can not predict every possible scenario but common sense dictates that you must wait a reasonable period of time. If you pull up and only wait a short time and a cop witnesses you pull out, he/she may pull you over. You have to wait a reasonable period of time which will allow you to look around for other vehicles, pedestrians, police, etc., before you decide to ride on red. I can assure you that if you pull up, stop, and go immediately or shortly thereafter, and a cop sees you, you will probably get pulled over. Last and this is important, you can only proceed if it is safe to do so and you must proceed with caution. These last two points would seem to be obvious but this is what the law requires. If you have to drop the hammer to jet across a busy intersection, and a cop sees you, you will end up back in the grey area of FAST LANE BIKER
