ello everybody the month of July is here and it’s time to celebrate our independence. So far this summer has been just about perfect as far as riding weather goes. Lets hope that continues. We’re happy to say our online magazine is back and also let you all know that you can view any issue of Fast Lane Biker magazine online with our virtual magazine reader. It’s a real cool program that lets you flip through the pages of our magazine right on your desktop. It also allows you to print and zoom or click on the advertisers add and go right to their website. We’re also happy to let everyone know we have received approval and signed the contracts for Seaside Heights Bike Week. The dates are September 23rd to the 26th which is coincide with the New Jersey State HOG Rally which will be in Seaside Heights September 22nd through the 26th. The two events will be working with BBQ by the Sea - Seaside’s Annual BBQ Festival, that will be held one block over. We think it’s gonna be a nice mix and were looking forward to working with both groups this year. We get a lot of letters, emails and phone calls at Fast Lane Biker asking us questions on just about everything and anything you could think of. There have been a lot of changes in the motorcycle industry the last few years and not all good. Well most of it was pretty bad to tell you the truth but this year things seem to be working themselves out, of course, only time will tell. Till then we’re just gonna keep on doing our thing and just work on keeping you all informed on the latest news as it becomes available to us.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON ® MOTORCLOTHES® PINK LABEL COLLECTION GENERATES $100,000 IN PROCEEDS TO SUPPORT BREAST CANCER NETWORK OF STRENGTH® MILWAUKEE (June 2, 2010) - Today Harley-Davidson Motor Company announced that its MotorClothes® Pink Label Collection has generated $100,000 in proceeds since the launch of the line in January that will be donated to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength®. The Harley-Davidson® Pink Label Collection was inspired by women who have been affected by breast cancer and designed to provide them support during their difficult ride. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every Pink Label Collection item helps fund the YourShoes™ 24/7 Support Center, which is administered by the national nonprofit Breast Cancer Network of Strength®. The YourShoes center, which helped nearly 50,000 people in 2008 alone, is staffed by breast cancer survivors who provide immediate emotional relief, at any time of day or night, to people affected by breast cancer. “We’re thrilled to be able to make a donation of this size to Breast Cancer Network of Strength,” said Kathy Whalen, Category Manager, General Merchandise, Harley-Davidson. “The response we’ve had to the new Pink Label Collection has been remarkable, and we thank our dealers and our loyal H-D customers for their role in making it such a quick and resounding success.” The Pink Label Collection, which is comprised of 12 of the most popular women’s MotorClothes silhouettes, was conceived and designed by the Harley-Davidson Women’s MotorClothes Product Development and Design team. Following are some of the highlights of the collection:

. . .

The Pink Label Leather Jacket (P/N 98160-10VW, $295) combines lightweight leather, a fixed lining, multiple zippered pockets and pink-embroidered graphics. Made from 73 percent cotton/27 percent polyester with pink-embroidered graphics, the new Pink Label Activewear Hoodie (P/N 99171-10-VW, $60) and Activewear Pant (P/N 99172-10VW, $40) are casually comfortable. The 93 percent cotton/7 percent spandex Pink Label S/S Tee (P/N 99175-10VW, $30) is embroidered on both sides and available in XS – 3W sizes. Made from 100 percent cotton with an elastic band, the Pink Label Headwrap with Pink Embroidery (P/N 9949910VW, $15) can be worn as a headband or wrap. “We can’t thank Harley-Davidson enough for their support,” said Margaret C. Kirk, president and CEO, Breast Cancer Network of Strength. “The funds from the Pink Label Collection will help ensure that no one faces this disease alone.”

TEEN DRAG RACER REMAINS UNDEFEATED typically the other way around. Ashley’s best time so far is 5.12 seconds at 100 mph on a 500 ft. track and without wheelie bars. She also works on her drag bike and is able to pull the motor apart and reassemble most of it without supervision.

She’s 15, cute as a button, weighs about 80 lbs., attends high school and drag races motorcycles. She is in the 1100 cc class, going up against adults, was undefeated in 2009 and is continuing the streak in 2010.

Ashley is currently trying to make her mark in the next class, the 1450 cc Pro Modified Class, and has placed second in the two races she ran. She continues to work very hard to sustain and surpass her standing as a dragster and has tremendous support from sponsors like M&A Excavating, DeTurck Racing & Fabrication (Ashley’s Dad), Debs Decals (Ashley’s mom), Hot Rods Total Biker, Abbi Electric, Cooter III Trucking, The RPM Shop, Guinthers Auto Body, Eye Candy Customs and Mike Miller Photography.

When she was only five years old, Ashley DeTurck wanted to know when she could race motorcycles. “When you can ride a bicycle without training wheels,” her dad, Lonnie DeTurck, told her. Three days after the training wheels came off, Ashley began riding a Yamaha PW50 that belonged to her brother, Jessie Miller, who is 6 years her senior. She ran her first race in 2000.

I asked Ashley the obvious question, “why?” Ashley’s grandfather raced at Reading Motorcycle Club for 4 or 5 years before moving to the big track and finally pro stock. He passed away 5 years ago and the bike he used to race sat idle for about 3 ½ years. Ashley picked it up one day and asked if a small motor could be added to her Grandpop’s bike. It ‘s the same bike Ashley uses today. She’s convinced that Grandpop rides on the back with her.

What’s next for Ashley? Like most teenagers, she is anxious to turn 16 and acquire her license. Unlike most teens, Ashley is excited because acquiring her license means she can finally join leagues such as AMA Drag Bike, AHDRA and NHRA Pro Stock.

Ashley races about once a month at www. pro109.com RMC Raceway located at Reading Motorcycle Club in Oley, Pennsylvania. She has won over 40 awards. In 2003, Ashley finished #4 in the nation in the now defunct AJDRL (American Junior Drag Racing League) which ran races as far away as Florida. Ashley loves the competition. She loves to line up against the fastest racers at the track to challenge herself. No one can intimidate her. In fact, it’s

Good luck, Ashley! See you on the drag strip soon!

EDITOR’S NOTE: If you are interested in sponsoring Ashley, please contact Lonnie DeTurck at DFCYCLE@aol.com.

There were plenty of vendors, good food and drinks available. The Build-Off competition this year was a tough one to call. Black Label Choppers representing Fast Lane Biker New Jersey built a Black Label Scotch themed Bobber with really cool engraved tanks and fenders which won the popular vote. Savage Cycles from Maryland representing Fast Lane Biker Delmarva built a really cool dual Weber pro street with an awesome job done on body and frame molding. Street Smart Cycles out of Long Island representing Fast Lane Biker New York built a true, one-off Bobber with a vintage fuel injection system and as many hand made one-off parts as you have ever seen on a bike. Of course, when the judges votes were counted, the Penn Jersey Bobber edged out the win. Their entry was a neatly done Pan Bobber with all internal controls, nothing too flashy. just a good clean bike. Congratulations to all the builders involved!! Everybody put their all into this competition and it showed. The end result was that we had four unbelievable bikes to choose from and that any one of the four would have taken best of show at any other event on the east coast. The weather this year left us a little disappointed as far as attendance goes. It rained from noon on Saturday through Saturday night all over the tri-state area and then Sunday it was light rain from early morning till late afternoon. It rained just hard enough to agravate you. But that’s the breaks, nobody can predict the weather not even the weatherman who said it was gonna be sunny and dry all weekend. I guess it really didn’t matter as everybody who was there seemed to be making the best of it either way and, all in all, it was still a seriously cool event. So, on to 2011. Only two Fast Lane Biker franchises have announced their builders for next year’s Showdown at the Rock. New York has chosen Merlon Rodgers, B&M Performance, and Delmarva has chosen Matt Elzey, CTM Customs. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are working out details and will be making their picks within the next few weeks. No dates have been chosen for next year’s Rally at the Rock 4 but, as soon as we pick them, we will be sure to let you know. Thanks and hope to see you all next year!

STREET SMART CYCLES Lucky 13

Lucky 13 is Street Smart’s way or combining a pro-street look with their original hardcore NY style. When this idea first walked in the door the customer only had a few details he knew he wanted, like a solid back rim, low handlebars, and his lucky number “13”. This left the drawing board very open for Street Smart to do what they do best. With custom made handlebars below the top tree, custom “Evil Eye” exhaust, custom mid-controls, and a short but sweet sissy bar this bike is pro-street on two wheels. But after installing an Andrews EV-27 cam this bike not only looks the part but plays it too. Accenting this one of a kind machine are a few of Street Smart’s vintage ideas like the taillight from a 1956 Chrysler Imperial and the modified Weber air cleaner with a custom backing plate. Keep and eye out for it this summer, you will see this bike coming from a mile away with its bright orange color and heavy metal flake.

PERKIOMEN CHAPTER AMCA 2010 NATIONAL MEET Oley, Pennsylvania . April 23rd - 25th, 2010 words, ridin’ and pix by lutz

Crockers! Indians! Vincents! and Harley Davidsons! Ohh my!! Every April the Perkiomen Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America host their National Meet at the Oley Pennsylvania Fairgrounds near Reading Pennsylvania. A nation wide club with thousands of members (maybe an understatment!) that enjoy ridin, restoration and ownership of some real cool old and sometimes rare motorcyles. This event in Oley is one of the many events similarly done by different chapters thoughout the United States that bring members out in droves. This year’s antique motorcycle show featured the Crocket Motorcyle and the cool part was that these are not just museum peices but daily riders, too. Sitting back and taking in all the scenes and listening to the talk from those attending you know all involved in the club are very passionate about their love of motorcycles. lookin for that special part from OEM, aftermarket or right off the barn floor! You’ll probably find it here. Bring you wallet as some things are not cheap but well worth it when you find that one particular thing you’ve been looking for for years! People camping out, talkin about upcoming meets (like Rhinebeck), ridin around on some cool iron, it definetly takes you back. Maybe take a ride through the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, grab some food and something to drink at the food corrall and rest a bit because there’s lots of walking here to catch in the many vendors and members selling parts. Almost too much stuff to do in one day, that’s why many stay all 3 days. Next year take a walk through time and check it out... Now, where did I see those shovelhead cases....................

NORTHEAST RIDERS MC 15TH ANNUAL HAWG WILD PIG ROAST May 6th, 2010 . Philadelphia . Pennsylvania words, ridin’ and pix by lutz 70+ degrees and a smokin party over in the City of Brotherly Love... What else could you want on a beautiful June Spring day? Well if that’s what you where lookin for it wasnt hard to find, checkout the Northeast Riders MC 15th Hawg Wild Pig Roast. The Northeast Riders MC have been around for many years and equally have thrown some much awaited parties like the Hawg Wild Pig Roast in the Spring and the Fall Ball in the Fall. The party was held at the Philadelphia Ukranian Club, with lots of room to hang out as there was lots to do. Many clubs and friends of the club came out to party and the Northeast Riders MC definitely had all bases covered. The food was great with fresh cooked pig on the bbq, dogs, burgers, beans, salads and dont forget dessert!! Lookin to wet your whistle ? Beer, soda, water, more than enough for everyone. Catchup with a bro you haven’t seen in a while, maybe checkout the vendors or listen to some live music from the band “LeCompt.” And what would a biker bash be without games? There was the jap smash with guys and girls beating the sh@t out of a jap bike with a sledgehammer (good way to blow off some steam!) there was a slow race, a keg toss (good thing someone drank/drained them kegs... they’re too heavy full!) and, of course, the “weenie bite” with the winners getting some cool trophies. But the climax of the day, which many looked foward to, was Bebops infamous wet t-shirt contest, it was a good way for the girls to cool off and the guys to get warmed up! The Northeast Riders MC put alot of effort into this party and make sure all there have a great time, already lookin towards the next one, see you there!
