TRASHED MC 6TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY PEGGY O’NEIL’S . CONEY ISLAND, NY April 9th, 2011 . Pictures by Double D & Bonnie

The guys from Trashed celebrated their 6th Anniversary at Peggy O’Neil’s in Coney Island on April 9th. There were vendors, Uncle Trinket’s custom biker jewelry, and great food. The bands were Dogs of Zeus, Sanitarius and Ironhorse. The place was packed with clubs and bikers from the end of LI to NJ and everything in between. Everyone enjoyed the night and catching up with one another and had great time. Once again a Trashed event was well organized and fun for all. A 6th Anniversary Party celebrated by a crew who knows how to have one heck of a time and make sure all their guests do, as well. Frank D

Story of the bike build, who, how, when, where, why, and things that will make a good story . . . (SOMETHING INTERESTING) Early in 2010 Doug Keim from Creative Cycles, Inc in Wall, New Jersey was contacted by David Zuckerburg from RIDES / XXL Magazines regarding several bikes they wanted to build in conjunction with Harley-Davidson Motor Co.. After lots of talk and face to face meetings the deal was done. Doug then spent time focusing on ‘what the bike’ needed to be to please all those involved. Time was then spent on the phone with the person that the bike was to be built for. That person is none other than Mr. Pharrell Williams of music industry fame as well as being the founder of Billionaire Boys Club / Ice Cream Brand Clothing. Doug asked question after question, attempting to find out what Pharrell liked and what he didn’t like. After careful consideration to all of the fact finding, he then spent a ton of time searching the H-D accessory catalog along with and several aftermarket parts catalogs to come up with ‘just the right’ group of parts and accessories for this build. As you can see, the result of all this effort is a Harley-Davidson “Cross-Bones” like no other. a The concept behind the bike was to come up with modern high tech Harley that still reflects on the early days of Harley-Davidson, as well as the early days of our great country and the struggles we faced. It was decided to build a bike that was U.S. Military in color and feel, with a combination of vintage and current styling. In looking over the bike, I think they got it right. So how did Doug, Chris and the Creative Cycles crew get to this point, well it wasn’t just a ‘bolt together’ project. Looking over the bike, the first thing that you notice is those huge 23 inch wheels and tires, and I’m betting that you think they just bolted on. NOPE! From the factory the bike is fitted with 16 inch tires and wheels. To get that 23 inch wheel and Avon Tyre to fit in the factory swing arm, Creative Cycles had to notch the cross tubes in the swing arm, and then come up with a way to reinforce the swing arm in the areas that had been modified, and still make it look like factory H-D. Well the resulting work has proved to be just that. If you hadn’t been told that the swing arm had been modified, you wouldn’t know it. Not only was the swing arm modified, but all of the electronics that normally sit on the top front of the rear fender had to be relocated, as well as a fair amount of the electronics that normally reside in front of the rear tire. So now ask yourself, why is there a Harley-Davidson accessory tool box mounted on the left side of that bike? Umm… could it be that the ECM now lives in there, safe under lock and key. Once all the fabrication work was done and those BIG 23’s where in place, the ride height of the bike now had to be addressed. Again, the stock bike was wearing 16 inch wheels and rubber; it was now wearing 23 inch Avon’s. So it became necessary to lower the bike a bit to get it back down to a more normal ride height. However it was decided to keep it a little bit higher than it was in stock configuration. After all, those early military use motorcycles faced all kinds of terrain, so a small amount of extra ground clearance was intentionally built into this bike. The front of the bike was lowered 1.5 inches and the rear was lowered 2 inches. In addition to lowering the

bike, the headlight was also repositioned to now mount on the bottom of the front shock, instead of the top, which also lends itself to a cleaner more flowing appearance. Moving around the bike; you will notice small things like the handlebars. The handlebars are H-D accessory ‘Beach Bars’ that have been shortened up 4 inches. Doug and Chris felt the bars needed to be a bit shorter to lend better to the vintage look. The bars have been finished off with a set of Creative Cycles knurled ‘The Grip’ hand grips with a set of one off end caps. To help feed air to the deep breathing HD Big Twin, a billet RSD air cleaner was installed. Doug had Chip over at APW paint the screen in the face of the air cleaner to match the light green found elsewhere on the bike. The exhaust was a whole ‘nother matter. Doug wanted something that was high performance in appearance. So to the ‘fab bench’ Doug went, to build the pipes you now see on the bike. They feature 1 ¾ inch headpipes, that step up to 2 inch then to 2 ¼ inches. They feature internal anti-reversion devices and 6” baffles. The package was then treated to a high temp wrapping to keep the gases expanded, thus moving them at a greater velocity to further improve performance. To make all this work an Accel SLM auto tune fuel injection tuner was used, and as we can attest to, this bike is a runner. Another item on the bike worth mentioning is the hand crafted rear fender which started life as a flat piece of steel. It is hung using to very slick set of ‘floating’ links which allow the rear fender to be repositioned. This allows the gap to be adjusted between the tire and the fender whenever chain tensioning is necessary. Other items worth mentioning are the stainless steel side panels, the hand made rear signal lamp mounts, the gorgeous side mounted tail lamp and license plate, the tucked in front turn signals, the awesome hand made seat pan, seat mounts and seat cover, of which is actually a Billionaire Boys Club Clothing Camo pattern. This is all topped off with a fantastic ‘weathered’ paint scheme applied by Chip from Aggressive Paint Works in Freehold, NJ. Chip and Doug got together and talked over the ideas Pharrell had for the ‘look’ of the paint. They took all their individual ideas and put them all together. The result was an Olive Green which was taken from the strapping found on a BBC Camo back pack. As mentioned previously, the seat cover is actually a BBC Camo jacket that was pulled apart to make a seat cover. The different shades of green found in the seat cover can be found in other areas of the bike as offsetting and contrasting colors. All in all… this is one bad “Cross-Bones”. Special ‘Thanks’ goes out to Harley-Davidson Motor Co., RIDES – XXL Magazines, Creative Cycles, APW Paint, Avon Tyre, Accel Motorcycle, Chris Edlredge and Liz O’Brien for helping make this bike a reality. Enjoy!

FAST LANE BIKER ‘BIKE NIGHT’ AT THE TACK ROOM BAR 4274 Hicksville Road . Bethpage, NY Sponsored by Big Boar Cycles . 516-569-2629 ReNU Powdercoating . 631-249-7368 Cavalier and Associates, PC . 888-339-9931 March 2011 . Pictures by G.W.S.

You can’t tell by the weather, but spring is here. The only true sign of spring is that the Tack Room Bike Night is back! And it’s back with a vengeance! This season’s bike night started right where last season’s left off - a great group of people, unbelievably great food, awesome tunes from Light House and, of course, the two sexiest barmaids in town... Kim and Michelle. We took on a new sponsor this year and we would all like to welcome Cavalier and Associates to our family. Tom and Matt seemed to really enjoy themselves, and I am sure they are extremely happy they came on board. Alright, enough with the niceties, let’s move along to the trophy winners. Very simply, Restless Spirits MC ran away with all three of this month’s trophies. Steve of Restless Spirits MC won Best Custom for his 2008 Rigid Frame Chopper, Triff of Restless Spirits MC won one of my special trophys for having “The Bike with the Least Amount of Displacement.” Now a little note - Triff rides a Vento 250cc and if you ever met him, you would understand. He is so big, he probably bench presses the bike!!! And finally, again, Restless Spirits MC took “Best Represented Club” with 8 strong. Thanks for the support guys, way to go! Next month’s bike night will be May 26th at 8pm. Don’t miss it. And stop down to Big Boar Cycles for everything you need to get your bike ready for trophy contention. See y’all May 26th 8pm. Till then... FTW . BIG BOAR CYCLES

NEW ROC HARLEY-DAVIDSON’S BIKE BLESSING 8 INDUSTRIAL LANE, NEW ROCHELLE, NY . 914-632-6743 . www.NRHD.com

It was sunny and clear but still a cold 37 degrees at New Roc Harley’s annual bike blessing where almost 100 riders came down and braved the chilly weather. Warm inside the dealership during ride registration, bike blessing participants enjoyed coffee with breakfast while some pinned their new angel pin on their passengers. Getting ready to go, riders and passengers – some fathers with their children - were bundled up tight wearing face masks and gloves as they listened to the blessings by Sister Carol from The Sisters Of Charity of the Elizabeth Seton Foundling Hospital and Father Peter of the Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle. Graciously, Father Peter stood out in the cold blessing over 80 bikes as riders rumbled passed him in their heated gear and blessing even more motorcycles by walking through the parking lot, taking care of those who did not go on the ride - even fulfilling requests by putting Holy Water on a helmet. Finally, warming up inside and wanting to provide for future owners, Father Peter continued on and blessed some of the new motorcycles on the New Roc Harley-Davidson showroom floor. It was a good day with plenty of blessings for the upcoming season. Looking forward to warmer weather next year. by Annemarie Albate

BSA BUILD... FINALLY DONE! I know that it seems a long time since I started this bike, but sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to mechanically and timewise. So anywho, we finally get all the stuff back from the painter, the chromer, and all other culprits involved. Everything I sent out, took forever to get back, eating up a lot of time I did not have to put it all together. See, this bike was going down to the smokeout in Carolina somewhere and it had to be assembled, riden, gone over and be ready to go by the 16th of May. Here it is the middle of April, and things are finally here. A lot to do for one person, let alone doing everything else around here. So we dive into the thing feet first and get busy. Hey, we have gone over a bike assembly before, so don`t get upset if i don`t go thru the whole thing again. Things fell right into place on this build, because there is not a lot to this bike and everything was fitted and re-fitted upon pre- assembly. Every now and then things do go as planed and this was one of them. Damn good thing too, I did not have a lot of time. Engine and trans fell in the hole no problem, got back to a rolling frame so fast I couldn`t believe it. I guess my old buddy Eddie was giving me a hand from beyond. Thought I felt someone watching me. Wiring and all the rest of the bike just fell into place. When all the brass started to go on, you could really see what the owner was looking for. Not going to bore you with all the rest of the stuff. Take a look at the pic`s and see what you think. When I got to the point to ride it, it all came back to me like I just got off a jockeyshift. Down the road and all is well. That is the best feeling in the world. (well almost, but I can`t go there) So after a ride or two, back up on the table to go over everything. Then back for another ride. Well, so far so good, time to call Tank, and tell him to come get it. So take a look. You will probably see him riding it around up in North West Jersey. So thats that!! now I gotta get some time to get my bike serviced and cleaned up. Figures, I will have to do that on my time, when ever that is. Gonna have to check the fridge and plan a course of action, you know how that goes. see ya j.p.fager

BRET MICHAELS IN CONCERT PATCHOGUE THEATER . PATCHOGUE, NY . APRIL 15TH, 2011

Nancy and I were excited to have a Friday night out to celebrate my birthday, which was Sunday the 17th. We were lucky enough to get invited out once again to see Bret Michaels, and I saw my good friend Tattoo Tony, who is Bret’s right hand man when he’s in town. I knew it would be a great night with friends and an amazing show, and boy, was I right! We arrived to the theater about 7:00pm and met up with Gerry and Chris from ReNu Powder Coating and Tattoo Tony. We hung out for a bit, enjoyed a few cold ones and got caught up with my friends. Tony’s multitasking kept him busy throughout the night, but he made sure I had the prime spot to photograph the show. Thanks again bro! As we hung out in the main lobby Tom Mele, his wife Vikki, and L.J. James appeared on the staircase. It was great to spend some time talking and having some laughs. We really enjoyed ourselves. Tom and LJ’s new Saturday (8am-10am) morning show called Long Island Old School Radio on WRCN 103.9 has been a breeze of fresh air and gives a voice to the working men, women, and bikers. It’s really taking off. We at Fast Lane Biker NY support them and the show 100%! We are very happy the show has found its groove and continues to grow each week. After the great opening act “Mad Co” which was a fantastic tribute to Bad Company, the crowd was totally revved up for Bret. The show was pure energy and Bret was in rare form. He rocked out all his classics plus some new tunes of the Custom Built CD. He seemed excited to be back in New York and it was his first time at The Patchogue Theater. The show was pure octane rock and roll and Bret didn’t disappoint. He was up there having as much fun as the crowd and he thanked us all for 25 years of letting him do what he loves most. At the end of the night, and after the crowd was screaming for an encore, he came back out and ended the night as it started, belting out Nothing But a Good Time. At the end of the show Bret’s stage hand auctioned off his guitar used during that night’s performance of Fallen Angel for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. As the auction was about to close a shout from the balcony came; $2,000, and SOLD, to the man in the back. As I took a second look, it was Tom Mele! He just bought the guitar and a chance to meet Bret Michaels while lending a helping hand to a good cause. Tattoo Tony also auctioned off all of Bret’s shirts and hats that night to the same cause. Bret has made it his goal to help find a cure for this problem and gives all he can to make a difference. Hats off to you Bret! Tom, Vikki, LJ, and Marc went onto the bus and met with Bret and had the guitar signed, which will hang in the hallway at WRCN 103.9, along with the pictures donated by Fast Lane Biker Magazine NY. All in all, the night was terrific and we all had fun. It was nice spending time with all our friends and celebrating my B day. Thanks to Tattoo Tony once again, you are a true brother my friend. Thanks to Tom Mele, LJ James and Marc for hanging with us on my B day and having a great time! By Frank D
