Hello everyone welcome to the March issue of FAST LANE BIKER NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY. The Winter is finally over...well maybe not, we shall see . It’s time again for Daytona Bike week, the official start of Spring in the Northeast. It’s been a long cold winter and lets hope this letter from the editor is the last one that mentions snow or cold weather. I can’t wait for Spring, so it’s going to be nice to go on the FLB Social Media sites and see our friends taking rides on their bikes. I can’t wait until winter is gone for good and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Rolling thunder chapter 2 16th annual pasta dinner jan 18 2014 • Knights of columbus forked river nj
story ridin’ and pics by Lutz
It’s cold, but not too cold, so I broke out the leather and gauntlet gloves and rode over to the Rolling Thunder Chapter 2’s Annual Pasta Diner and got some great hot food to help shake off the chill from the ride. This is RTNJ chapter 2, 16th annual event and many, myself included, look forward to it year after year. Many members and volunteers put their heart into making it an enjoyable pasta dinner with all the trimmings, meatballs, salad, bread, butter and also dessert. All hitting the spot! Speaking of dessert, the famous cannoli eating contest is a much anticipated event with returning champion “Nailz” again defending and winning this years challenge. Product tables had loads of items for sale ranging from hats, shirts, pins, and many POW/MIA awareness related items which essentially is the focus of Rolling Thunder’s mission “to bring full accountability for the Prisoners Of War-Missing In Action (POW/MIA) of all wars” as well as other veteran related issues. Congratulations to all at RTNJ2 another fine dining experience is in the books.

Spirit Of The Biker © Chris Webb Road Scribes Of America ™ His old visage is weathered from his years out on the open road. He has seen much throughout his many years and his sparkling eyes show great wisdom. Rain, sleet, snow, wind, heat and cold, he has endured it all. Standing before his sleeping Harley, he gazes out across the vast lonely desert plains that surround him. A broad smile of contentment touches his lips. This has been his home for decades and he never grows weary of the majestic landscape. Running his fingers through his long mass of white hair, he mounts his faithful steed with practiced ease. Inserting a well-worn key into the ignition, he awakens his steel horse with a low rumble. The road ahead twists and turns like an asphalt snake as it stretches to the horizon. Wheels of hot rubber and gleaming chrome eat up the miles like a ravenous beast. The wind buffets him as he rides, whipping his hair about wildly. His destination is unknown until he reaches it... Why do you... The Cafe When Folks ask why you ride, A man walks into a café looking weathered and worn just look at them and smile. His colors so old there tattered and torn Nothing matches how it feels, Lines on his face reflect the miles on the road enjoying ride for miles. His shoulders and saddlebags each carry a different load Escape with throttle in your grip... One carries the memories of a young man’s dreams Know good roads ahead... And all that thirty years of what the club life brings Feeling wild, feeling free, The other carries the necessities and a keepsake of his wife nothing need be said. Who years before had lost her life Keep 'em guessing, full of wonder? He orders coffee black and wipes the road dust from his face They may get the clue... The coffee now replacing the road dust taste Go and get themselves a bike, I’ve seen you in here before the waitress said and take a great ride, too... I stop in when I visit my wife in the cemetery up ahead © Rod Hatter 1/3/14 I visit there too since my husband died Road Scribes Of America™ She winked and a tear fell from her eye Another Road He died on his bike in a horrible storm My wife died in child birth that morn There will always be another road and the horizon will always be there It was late and hours now have passed the journey that has no destination What time is your shift over he asked feels like home on an asphalt sea She said I’m off at midnight, why calm or choppy, cloudy or clear He asked if she wanted to go for a ride on two wheels it comforts me She said sure and gathered her things one more ride towards that horizon She’s ready for whatever the night ride brings leaning into one more turn twisting the throttle, snapping up a gear She settled into his Panhead’s saddle ready to go where I’ve come from got me here That night was fifteen years ago no regrets and a lot less fear They always stop at that café along the way for that was another road in my yesteryear And then pay respects to their loved ones who’ve passed away

26th annual Jam on productions motorcycle swapmeet NOVEMBER 17TH, 2013 • Harrisburg farm show complex • Harrisburg, pennsylvaniA
story ridin’ and pics by Lutz
Today was a good day to get up and get out of the house and break the winter blues. With that out the door I went to check out a good ol’ fashion motorcycle swap meet. It wasn’t too long of a ride to get to Harrisburg Pennsylvania’s Farm Show Complex and even though we got there a bit later than anticipated (no surprise huh?!) there was plenty of good deals left! Jam on productions 26th annual ,and my first time here ,it sure was worth the ride! A very impressive, wide selection of older goodies, shovelhead, panhead, blockhead, trans-parts, fenders, seats, wheels, the list goes on... and all at reasonable prices, AND even room to negotiate, how can you bitch about that? With it being still winter, you can get those parts on that bike and spruce it up before spring! No doubt with all the wide selection of vendors that where there and not just motorcycle parts being sold, t-shirts, motorcycle novelties, cleaners, etc, you just had to leave with something! Take a scoot out to the next one and checkout one of the few last classic swapmeets left.
