Hello Everyone, Welcome to the May Issue of FAST LANE BIKER. As you may have noticed we have now taken over the Pennsylvania area last month and have included it our issue. Giving you more coverage and our advertisers more circulation and coverage. We would like to welcome all our new and future Pennsylvania advertisers. We’ve had some crazy weather, eighty degrees during the day and down below freezing at night. We even had snow at the end of the April. Lets hope that’s all behind us now and Mother Nature will shine warmly on us once again. One other thing the winter was a little rough on the roads this year. There are huge potholes everywhere so make sure to use caution when you’re on the road until road maintenance can get them fixed up.

New jersey state hog rally 2014

Seaside heights New jersey • September 18,19,20, 2014

story ridin’ and pics by Lutz

This past September rolling in and with summer coming to the end most still wanna get out on there bike and get in that last month or two of good t-shirt riding weather... and if you live in New jersey and are a shore fan that also means hitting Seaside Heights and the likes, to get that last visit to your favorite bar or restaurant before they start shutting down the boardwalk. As luck would have it a perfect combination happens in Seaside Heights, NJ right around this time of year, the state HOG rally comes to town.,some also call it seaside bike week as well. As mentioned the Harley owners group, HOG, does their annual rally where members ride in from all points to enjoy some riding and some fun in the sun! Most activities occur near the Hershey motel and Captain Hooks bar where vendors and bands are setup to entertain the many motorcyclists that crowd this shore town in late September. Many local Harley dealers have setups there to so if you wanna get that new Harley shirt from your favorite shop you can do so. With bikes rolling up and down the boulevard past all the food and drink vendors and bands playing, there’s plenty of stuff to see and do. Just because the majority of the bike events happen near this area, you are after all by the world famous Seaside Heights boardwalk with places like Spicys Cantina and JR’s are also catering to the motorcycle crowd this week with great food and drink specials as well as tons of attractions that attracted the rally here in the first place!

KNOW THE LAW BY ATTORNEY STEVE STAMBAUGH

W

elcome back to the Fast Lane. Its been a long hard winter but finally we’re back out and on the road again, and it sure feels good. Keep in mind that cagers haven’t seen many of us these past few months so we all need to be on the lookout for them since we can count on them not to see us. That in mind, while you are going over your bike to make sure that its ready for the road, do the same with your insurance policy. The fact is that this recession continues to plague the economy despite what the liberal media says and one of the first things to get cut from the family budget is insurance, which brings me to the topic of this month’s article: under-insured and uninsured motorist coverage. This coverage is essential for Riders as it is the ONLY way we can protect ourselves from the financial devastation that motorists cause when we eat the asphalt because they “didn’t see us”. UN-insured motorist coverage is coverage you pay for in the event that a driver who has no insurance whatsoever (i.e., is UN-insured), causes you an injury. If that happens, the un-insured motorist coverage is ALL the money you will have available to you for compensation for your injuries. UNDER-insured motorist coverage is coverage you pay for in the event that a driver who has some insurance but not enough to FULLY compensate you for your insures (i.e., is UNDER-insured), causes you an injury. If that happens, the universe of monies available to you for compensation for your injuries are the combined amounts of the adverse driver’s MAY, 2015

25

liability policy limits plus your under-insured motorist coverage. Current Pennsylvania law requires that vehicle owners have a minimum of $15,000.00 per person in liability coverage to pay to you if they injure you. They do not have to have one penny more to be legal. So, if your case is worth more than $15,000.00 (or whatever the tortfeasor’s coverages happen to be) then the driver is under-insured. So: - you must have uninsured (UM) and underinsured (UIM) motorist coverage; - make sure that your UM / UIM coverage is equal to your liability coverage and then get those limits as high as you can afford to take them - you get what you pay for; and - if you have more than one bike, make sure your policy has “stacked” UM / UIM coverage, which is also referred to as “stacking”. Proper UM/UIM coverage is expensive but you are worth it. If you have any doubt, imagine tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills coupled with an inability to return to work for months, if ever, or, worse, you go down and your loved ones are left to face life without you. If you have questions about your policy, call my office and either I or a member of my staff will walk you through your questions - no charge. Last and as always, please check out www.ychdoa.com and www.ndhpmf.com for upcoming rides. See you on the road,

Steve www.fastlanebikernj.com

The 34th Annual Delaware Valley A.B.A.T.E. Toy Run Philadelphia, Pennsylvania • November 2, 2014

story ridin’ and pics by Lutz

If you have never been to this one you certainly are missing out on the granddaddy of Toy Runs. Having gone on for 34 years, this event attracts 1000’s of motorcyclists from all over and with one thing in mind... to help make a child’s Christmas a little bit nicer. Delaware Valley Abate along with many sponsors and volunteers every year help collect toys with this event to be given to the United States Marine Corps. Toys for Tots Program which in turn distribute to needy families with children to make there Christmas a little brighter. Local Philadelphia businesses also come out to Sponsor and help out too, with the likes of radio station WMMR, Brian’s Harley Davidson, Tony Luke’s of Philadelphia, Barb’s Harley Davidson and as mentioned the United States Marine Corps. Lots of hometown pride at this event. Tons of bike line up in the seasonal cool feel of November near the Delaware River on Columbus Blvd. and Spring Garden St. Bikes loaded with toys strapped on them and getting into that holiday season feel, nothing like it! At noon time the ride/parade though Philly begins with a noticeable roar as the bikes all starting up and getting ready to deliver Santa’s toys to there destination, another Philly landmark, the electric factory. Once there the parking lots filled with chrome and leather and once inside the boxes fill with toys. Saw a lot of friends there too all getting in the holiday spirit, local Philadelphia D.J.’s from 93.3 WMMR’s Pierre Robert and Jackie “bam bam” where there in support too. If you got a bit hungry and thirsty after the long ride, there was plenty of food and drink available inside too. An Allman Brothers tribute band “Live at the Fillmore” entertained all, as more motorcycles arrived along with more toys. It was a pretty good feel to be a part of this event knowing that around the holidays you could help those that needed it, especially children.
