ello again welcome to the November issue of FAST LANE BIKER. The last few months have been busy with two events occuring, the Wildwood Roar to the Shore in September followed by the new kid on the block, The Race of Gentlemen in October. This event was a real blast all weekend of prewar cars and bikes drag racing down the beach in Wildwood. It was a great time and the weather was perfect. They are already working out the details for next years event and it will be even bigger and better. If you missed it this year put it on your calendar for next year, you will not be disappointed. This winter at FAST LANE BIKER we will be working on some changes to the magazine and website. We already created a new website and are planning to add more to it as time goes on. We hope you all will stop in and check it out!

The race of Gentlemen OCT 4-6TH, 2013 • WILDWOOD, nj

BY MARK RUZICKA

Last year when I first heard about The Race of Gentleman and what the it was all about it, I was surprised to hear it was located in Allenhurst New Jersey. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Allenhurst, it’s a small well to do beach town just north of Asbury Park. I saw some of the pictures and found out I knew quite a few of the participants . I did a little digging around and found out that this year it was going to be held on the beach in Wildwood, NJ. Now this is more like it Pre War 1920’s and 30‘s Hot Rods and motorcycle drag Racing on the beach in Wildwood. So I reached out to Mel, the event promoter and found out the details. This event was held on October fourth, fifth and Sixth. Friday night was the preparty at the Starlux hotel with a car and bike show out front. On Saturday morning the races began and spectators were entertained by live Rock and Roll during the races from Ba Babes and the Nude Dudes. At night there was a Bon Fire beach party and a performance by the Swinging Neck Breakers. On Sunday the final day of racing began and when the tide finally went down it was followed by the award ceremony. This event had racers form all over the Country and some celebrity participants like Rick Petko of Orange County Choppers, nationally know sculptor and motorcycle restoration specialist, Jeff Decker. The weather on this weekend was absolutely perfect as the motor gods smiled down on this one-of-a-kind event. We had a chance to speak with the event promoter Mel of the Oilers Car Club who is looking to bring this event back to Wildwood next year. So if you missed it this time be sure not miss it next year. Hope to see you all there!

Rocking the Road for a Cure Motorcycle Run for Breast Cancer OCT 6TH, 2013 • NY

BY gene schroer

October 6th, 2013 was a great day to support the 6th Annual Rocking the Road for a Cure Motorcycle Run. They started once again in Queens, NY at Alley Pond Park and then rode south and east to Michael’s Port Hole in East Rockaway, NY they were escorted by Nassau County Police that provided traffic control to ensure a safe ride for all participants. Upon arriving at the destination all of the participants were given a warm welcome by Dawn Frey, the event organizer. She thanked them and started the activities. The volunteers went around and processed donations, sold raffle tickets and there was a 50/50 opportunity as well. Michael put out a great selection of food and as everyone was enjoying it the musical program started. Joey Rondinelli provided DJ and Emcee services for the motorcycle judging. There was a vendor doing face painting for children. Another vendor supplied tattoo services and there were vendors selling jewelry and other items. The live music started just as the riders arrived and went on through the day till the end. Some of Long Islands best bands were in attendance including Crisis a classic rock and roll band, Tyler and Friends with Dawn on drums, Johnny and The Rockers, WildSide a tribute to Motley Crue band, Lady Sabbath,a great sounding Black Sabbath playing group of fine women musicians, with Dawn playing drums. Amethyst Roxx, reuniting just for this benefit featuring Sherry baby on guitar and V on vocals with Lady Di on the drums, Iron Priest, playing the best of Judas Priest. All introduced by our main DJ Joey Rondinelli. It was great to listen to them play on and on while enjoying the waterside at the PortHole. Taking a break from listening to the music, the awards for the Motorcycle judging were presented. There were several categories for the Motorcycle participants. Joey the DJ handed out the Motorcycle awards with each winner posing for photos . My favorite was Slither’s snake oriented theme cycle. Michaels Porthole suffered severely at the hands of Hurricane Sandy , but as we can say it has come back better than ever and Michael was on hand to welcome one and all. Thanks Mike for hosting such a great event for such a good cause. At the end of the day Dawn recognized all of the sponsors with a certificate from the organization and thanked everyone for making the event a huge success. A great day for a great cause.
