2016 Catskill By PIT & MOMMA IZ
Mountain Thunder I t was that time of year again when motorcycle’s roar across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge and Rip wakes up from his long sleep. Catskill Mountain Thunder 2016 at Blackthorne Resort. Never been there? Well maybe you should check it out. For us its a regular Pit Stop, so first let’s set the scene.
The property is huge with rolling hills, trees, & ponds. There are camper’s, tent’s, hotel room’s, suite’s, a pool, a bar and restaurant/dining area. How many campsite’s have a real bar and dining room, not a pavilion,( although they have that too) but a bar, a bar where motorcycle’s are welcome to ride through. Yep, in the front doors and out the back doors where there is always a great band on stage, comedy show’s, and of course the biker build off. CMT actually starts every year on Wednesday with a pub crawl. So here we are, back again to see friend’s we haven’t seen, to see vendor’s we know have things we need to replace or just have hard to find thing’s like Jerky Hut’s Whiskey BBQ Beef Jerky. You can get a tattoo, a massage, and patch’s sewn on by the Slipper Lady. The Wall of Death is always a big crowd attracter. Rhett rotten is a 38 year old man who seems to have an old soul. He built an old school kick start Indian and use’s it to thrill the audience as he rides the Wall of Death from top to bottom. He explain’s how every piece of wood is reclaimed and is dear to him, and he smile’s the entire ride and connects with everyone. We have Christian bikers, like the Melchizedeks MC, who are very dear to our heart’s, and are alway’s available for prayer and they always have coffee. This year they performed a wedding at Blackthorne, and an exorcism on me, just kidding but after all I’ve been through with this crazy neighbor i have, I was wound up pretty tight and CMT was just what the doctor ordered. You become family at Blackthorne, you unplug and recharge at the same time. Oh I can pick out the newbies, they’re the one’s alway’s complaining about something. It’s a bike event people, bring what you need and party down, chill by the fire, watch the fire works, bring a pair of sneakers because biker boot’s are not made for all the walking there, trust me. We camped with the Boozefighters Mc, and it’s always a trip to camp with them, and Pit never skip’s a beat on making our tent comfortable. CMT is a love your neighbor kinda thing, I personally could live there. I mean who couldn’t live on a compound with like minded people, its coming home to reality thats the challenge. Congratulation’s to CS Custom’s for winning the biker build, and thank you to Dale and Roy for giving upstate NY one hell of an annual event. Love and friendship, Momma Iz. Fast Lane Biker

Today's Ride I rode today neath dying leaves full of color the asphalt hummed a lonely song the V twin beat a rhythm and every curve along the way brought a sense of freedom a twist of the throttle the snap of a gear worries seemed to lessen thank God for the road and a good steel horse and no need for a destination
Almost Hypnotic I’ve ridden thunder rumbling ‘neath me across the countryside at one with steel, rubber and road cares behind a corner past vibrations soothing, almost hypnotic in need of something only rolling the throttle fills © JoPo Oct. 2012 Road Scribes of America ™ 2012

I carry your smile in my pocket just in case the day darkens with storm clouds and when night falls I place it on my pillow to rest my weary head in its gentle grace ... I carry your voice in my heart to sing its song reminding me life is but a flash dance ... I carry your memory in a treasure chest locked inside my soul until we once again bridge the distance.

KNOW THE LAW T
hank you to those of you who took the time to call / email me via my web site for the positive feedback on last month’s article. I can only hope and pray that we can save our Great Nation, which is at the abyss. This month I will go back to writing about pending Legislation here in Pennsylvania which will lead me to a discussion about Candidate Hillary Clinton. I am talking about the right to keep and bear arms. As with last month’s article, the opinions you are about to read are mine only. They are not the opinions of this magazine, its owner/editor, its staff or its advertisers. They are mine, and mine alone. Pennsylvania has long been a gun lover’s State and our laws reflected as much. That has changed as we now have three new Supreme Court Justices, Democrats all. Now, while I like that these Justices will protect consumers from insurance companies, they will also look to restrict and/or take away our gun rights, which needless to say I do not like one bit. A few months back, the “new” Pennsylvania Supreme Court struck down Pennsylvania’s Firearms Preemption Law. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court was able to void the law because the preemption provision was added onto another Bill, which violated Pennsylvania’s One Subject Law. In point of fact I like the One Subject Law since it helps eliminate a lot of pork. Anyway, the now eliminated law said that local municipalities can not make their own gun laws, only the State can make gun laws. In response, the Pennsylvania Senate recently passed Senate Bill 1330, which will once again preempt local ordinances regarding gun laws. It went before the House of Representatives a few weeks ago however the Republican controlled house failed to take action on it, which is an outrage in and of itself. As I write this article the House of Representatives has one week to take action on this law before they go to recess. Even if it passes the House, I suspect that our Governor, Tom Wolfe, will likely veto it. Here is how this relates to our National Election. The next President will pick the Justice who will cast the tie-breaking vote on the next case that challenges the Second Amendment. At the last Presidential Debate, Hillary Clinton stated the following: You mentioned the Heller decision. And what I was saying ... was that I disagreed with the way the court applied the Second Amendment in that Fast Lane Biker
BY ATTORNEY STEVE STAMBAUGH case, because what the District of Columbia was trying to do was to protect toddlers from guns and so they wanted people with guns to safely store them. And the Court didn’t accept that reasonable regulation, but they’ve accepted many others. Hillary lied, of course. The DC gun law in Heller: (1) banned the possession of all handguns in private residences; and (2) required that all other guns (rifles and shotguns) be keep in an unusable condition within the residence. The District of Columbia’s ban did not require proof of access by children or even proof that children were present in the home. It did not protect toddlers, it protected criminals by rendering all homeowners in the District of Columbia utterly defenseless. The DC gun law was struck down by a 5-4 Decision, led by now deceased Justice Scalia. My point is that, if the Election is lost, the Supreme Court will be next, and the Second Amendment will not be far behind. Our only safety at that point is in State’s Rights, which means that we can and will only be protected by gun laws that protect gun rights at the State level. So, research Senate Bill 1330 when you get this article and, if the House again failed to take action, call your State House Representative and tell him or her what you think of his/ her failure to act. On a brighter note, join me at YCHDOA’s 20th Annual Toy Run to the Penn State at Hershey Children’s Hospital. Check out the full page ad in this issue for details or the website (www.ychdoa.com). And again, as always, if you haven’t joined ABATE, do so. They are the Biker’s Voice in Harrisburg.
