Hello everyone and welcome to the September issue of FASTLANEBIKER. This month is a pretty busy month for us at FASTLANEBIKER. The biggest events in the Northeast besides Laconia bike week take place one week apart less then a one hour ferry ride away. Of course we’re talking about Wildwood and Delmarva bike week. Since I’m on the subject of Wildwood the beginning of October is the race of Gentleman. It’s the coolest event we have ever seen, it’s vintage cars and bikes form all over the country with drag racing on the beach in Wildwood. So we hope to see you all there

story ridin’ and pics by Lutz

I got the itch to get on the bike and put on a couple of miles, I heard about an interesting event involving old motorcycles and track racing. No second guessin’ on that.... sounded good enuff for me! It was a little warm but beautiful ride down to Millville New Jerseys Motorsports Park where the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association was holding their Vintage Motorcycle Festival. All kinds of bikes, Triumphs, Nortons, Harleys even some I’ve never heard of and very rare one of a kinds types to see and appreciate, as well as why they brought em out from all over the united states and Canada ...to race!!! Millville Motorsports has a 2.25 mile track that kept the bikes racing all day. In between, you could walk around and checkout all the bikes involved and catch up with some talk with the racers/owners as well. A swap meet with lots of stuff for the older bikes that are featured at this event could be purchased if needed, as well some newer parts for later year bikes too. Local Philly celeb Adam Cramer from Liberty vintage motorcycles with his treasure trove of bikes was there, he had great stuff to look at and even buy. Live entertainment from several bands filled the air with music. Several food vendors where there offering some great chow and drink if you got that need. Lots of walkin’ and watchin’ at this one! This is the second time this event was held here, and hoping for a third next year.

The Infinite Ride Waking up to ride riding to breath inhale the horizon... feeling the road listen to it sing the song is fearless relief in each turn moments of eternity every gear a gift not wanting to stop chasing the infinite ride © JoPo 4/25/2014 Road Scribes of America ™ 2012 Intrepid Traveler Dedicated to Pete Fillippone AkA Pedro

Peace and Serenity Peace and serenity begins when The wind blends into where the blacktop bends Your mind fills with memories of the ride Others become brothers and sisters and ride at your side A bond that’s forged between the lines Troubles fade in rearview mirrors and left behind What’s around the next bend in life remains unknown I know if I have my brothers and sisters I’ll never ride alone I have brothers and sisters up north, down south, back east, and out west Both with colors or no colors on their vest All of which have touched my heart in many ways Peace and serenity continue when I pray The wind then blends with the prayers I send Then I feel blessed and ready to ride again © Lee Buddah Haverstick, Black Rose Poetry™, RSOA™

I'm a guy, simply stated Never over complicated Playing a hand that life has dealt to me From young and stupid to old and wise With each gray hair I realize I prefer what comes, naturally Used to spit against the wind But quickly learned to call it friend It helps to spread my wings, sets me free I ride to write of moments made The blood and ink are dues I've paid To spread the 'ridden' word, naturally My Guardian Angel must be tired But I thank God that he was hired Otherwise, I'd be history I know he saved my butt from hell But both of us know damn well All good things come, naturally Not all roads are smooth and straight We're fueled by destiny, led by fate Brother, that's the way it's meant to be Laws of nature we must abide For us, it's in how we ride Bikers always do it naturally © 2014 LPScerri Road Scribes Of America ™

Naturally Wanderlust runs thick through his veins Like fifty weight oil, the life's blood of his ride Brotherhood tried and true Forged like a steel blade in fuel flamed fire Tempered with blood sweat and tears His need to be in the wind As natural as his need to breathe The wind his mistress his companion and friend Never bitches moans or complains Howls like a wolf when she hears his throttle thunder roar As his ride comes to life once again He is out the door on the road in the wind Where he belongs Thousands of miles he's traveled Not all were smoothly paved Many a pothole, graveled roads And roadblocks in his way Yet still he seeks the winds relief Like the calm before the storm He rides with friends at times solo With his ol' lady or his Bro's Known the Bro for forty years Not much has changed at all He's still the Righteous Brother Of The Wind That he has been all along

ASK THE ATTORNEY BY: LEE D. GABER, ESQUIRE 1-888-CYCLE-LAW • LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com • www.cycleattorney.com So, you live in New Jersey and are on the back of your boyfriends motorcycle when another driver runs directly into the back of the bike sending both of you flying off the bike and on to the pavement. Both of you briefly pass out and when you awaken, you are grateful to be alive and begin to assess your injuries. You can move your feet and toes, both arms are still attached and appear to be functioning – all welcoming news. You look over to see your boyfriend walking around even though bystanders are telling him to lay back down. You are not certain as to what happened, but you sort of remember sitting on the motorcycle simply looking around, observing the scenery when you remember being hit, without warning, from behind. Thank God you had your helmet on! You try to get up, but are told by witnesses to stay on the ground, that the EMT’s and police are on their way. You can see the bike on its side slightly down the road, you think to yourself, at least the bike is insured, and that you have health insurance, and underinsured motorist coverage in case the jerk that hit you doesn’t have enough coverage to cover you and your boyfriends injuries. My clients were eventually taken to the hospital. She had a comminuted clavicle fracture amongst other typical motorcycle injuries. Fortunately, there was good UIM coverage on the bike because the person that hit them only carried the NJ minimum coverage of $15,000.00 in liability insurance. It was

also fortunate that they both had health insurance because there were no medical benefits on the motorcycle policy. However, the passenger on the motorcycle also had minimum coverage on her NJ registered/insured vehicle and therefore the $15,000.00 of UIM benefits she had “set off” against the other insurance company. Additionally, the UIM insurance on the motorcycle, due to New Jersey law, stepped down for her to the state minimum of $15,000.00, because she was not a spouse, resident family member nor a named insured on the policy. Bottom line – despite her injuries she was stuck with a total recovery of $15,000.00 from the vehicle that struck them. There was no claim to be made against the operator of the bike as he did nothing wrong. How could this have been prevented? If she had purchased underinsured motorist coverage on her personal automobile policy in an amount higher than the $15,000.00 required by the state, we could have presented a claim against that policy even thought she was on a motorcycle. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@ cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).
