We start with Labor Day and then to Wildwood for Roar to the Shore, from Wildwood we’re off to Ocean City, Maryland for Delmarva Bike Week, then off again to Seaside Bike Week. It’s gonna be a long September, but a whole lot of fun!

We have a few things on the fire as far as Seaside Bike Week goes... We start with the Welcome Party and Motorcycle Art Expo at Hemingways on Friday night, Hooks Captain Hooks will be Hosting the Sailor Jerry Rum Hottest Tattooed Female Contest. Saturday night the Beachcomber will be hosting the Miss FASTLANEBIIKER Contest. The Four State Biker Build-Off will be held in front of the Sea Garden Hotel across from Klee’s Bar. The motorcycle Stunt Show will be across from the White Pearl Hotel in the lot in front of Babes Corner Store. And the FASTLANEBIKER Boardwalk Bike Show will be on the boardwalk between the piers on Saturday. The Vendor lots are located up by the boardwalk across from the the Beach Bar and the Beachcomber. We have a lot going on and its gonna be a busy weekend for us down there.

STURGIS 2011 QUITE THE ADVENTURE

When the Strip Club Choppers posse rolls into a town for an event we are often the center of attention and building a bike with a fully functional dance pole that shoots 4 foot flames only serves to magnify the attention. The new Stripperglide was a long time in planning and could not have been completed without my good friend Tim Kirsch and his guys Robert and Chris who did all the hands on building and design. When you want a stripper pole on your bike that shoots flames there is no catalog to order from... Just sayin’. Special thanks go out to Kevin from American Drag Seats for the custom bag lids and seat, John Shope from Sinister for the bags and rear fender, Ken from Tricky Light for the LED’s, Fullsac Performance Pipe, Tailgunner Exhaust, Bill from Legends Supreme and Biktronics. Without all the contributions from these companies the project could not have been completed. We debuted the bike between concerts at our vending area and the crowd literally formed a traveling circle around us as I drove carefully though the crowd with SCC girl Lara on the pole while it shot flame 4 ft into the clear Stugis sky. To say the reaction was favorable is an understatement. You know my montra... “HAVE POLE - WILL TRAVEL”. I guess now its “HAVE FLAME THROWING POLE - WILL TRAVEL”. My good friend and fellow englishmen Steve Kelly did a great photo shoot of the new Stripperglide at the new and improved Glencoe Campground. Look for these in a magazine feature very soon. Big thanks to Sean and Jason from Glencoe for their hospitality. When I started SCC 8 years ago, my goals were to party, travel and meet females. This year in Sturgis, my priorities came full circle as I got engaged and spent way too much time babysitting one of my franchises. Its scary that I am now the voice of reason and setting the example of how to behave. Careful, Hell may freeze over at any moment. We now have 18 states that have franchise representation and I would like to officially welcome onboard SCC of Indiana and Florida. Next year will see a reduced tour schedule for the SCC Roadhouse as we turn over the events to our family of franchises. Wow, the times they are a changing but for the better. Submitted by: angied, NJ Ingredients: 4 large Baking Potatoes peeled and sliced, 1/2 package Ranch salad dressing mix, 1 cup Yogurt -- un-flavored, 1 teaspoon Salt, 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper, 1/3 cup Dry Bread Crumbs. Directions: In a medium sized bowl, mix salad dressing mix with yogurt. Toss potatoes with dressing mixture, salt, and pepper. Place in greased 9x13 pan, then sprinkle with bread crumbs.. Cover and bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 20 minutes longer until potatoes are tender. Beer Can Chicken . Submitted by: crazymike, NY Ingredients 1 4–5 lbs. whole chicken 2 tsp. vegetable oil + 1 can beer Rub ingredients: 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. granulated onion 1 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. granulated garlic 1/2 tsp. ground coriander 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper Directions: In a small bowl combine the rub ingredients. Remove and discard the neck, giblets, and any excess fat from the chicken. Rinse the chicken, inside and out, under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Lightly brush or spray all over with the vegetable oil and season, inside and out, with the rub. Open the beer can and pour out half of the beer. Set the half-full can on a flat surface and slide the chicken over the top so the can fits inside the cavity. Transfer the bird to the grill, keeping the can upright. Carefully balance the chicken on its two legs and the can. Barbecue over indirect medium heat until the juices run clear and the internal temperature reaches 170°F in the breast and 180°F in the thickest part of the thigh, 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours. Keep the lid closed as often as possible during barbecuing. Wearing barbecue mitts, carefully remove the chicken and the can from the grill, being careful not to spill the beer – it will be hot. Let the chicken rest for about 10 minutes before lifting it from the can. Discard the beer. Cut the chicken into serving pieces and serve warm.

When you hear Philadephia, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? No, not cheesesteaks! (Although that sounds good...) Brotherly love... Well almost there! Ok, I’ll add motorcycle to the equation... Now you got it! Home to the Northeast Riders M/C and one the best butt kickin’ parties in Philadelphia. It was overcast and forecast for rain but, miss this party, no way. The Northeast Riders M/C throw 2 parties a year and are worth the ride. Luckily, the weather held out and the ride over in the 75 degree temp was as about as good as it gets. No sooner then pulling up to the gig, you could feel it was gonna be a good party. Once inside, grab some food and drink, checkout the vendors, run into some old friends, checkout the bands, lots to do. F.T.F. Performance had a mobile dyno if ya wanted to squeeze out a few more ponies from your bike... Tons of bikes lined up inside and outside beggin’ to be looked at and the ladies at the party were easy on the eyes, too! If that wasn’t enough, you could try your skill at the bike games like the weenie bite, keg toss, and slow race... You could bring home that trophy! And for the grand finale’, Brother Bebops infamous wet t-shirt contest (guaranteed to keep ‘em to the end)!! There’s not much more to say but thanks to the Northeast Riders M/C for a great time and we’ll see you there this fall.

RIDERS GOP RIDERS: WE AIN’T YOUR DADDY’S MOTORCYCLE CLUB There’s a new G.O.P. club in town and it ain’t your daddy’s Republican club… enter, make that “rumble in”, G.O.P. Riders Motorcycle Club. G.O.P Riders is a club made up of like-minded people, people who are concerned about the direction the country is headed, people who hate the liberal bias in the media, and people who believe that being a Republican is just bitchin’. Where did this idea come from? G.O.P Riders Motorcycle Club was founded at the old Philadelphia Republican Club in Port Richmond by Bill Pettigrew a Philadelphia Republican Ward Leader. Bill, a new motorcycle enthusiast, was wondering if there were any Republican-based motorcycle clubs...the Knights of Columbus have one, the Shriners have one, Vietnam Vets have one-the list is endless. But a Republican motorcycle club had never been done, until now. G.O.P Riders Motorcycle Club is now chartered in Philadelphia, Cape May County, NJ, Montgomery County, PA and the newest Chapter in Chester County, PA. “The hope,” says PA Chapter President and Co-founder, Bill Shaw “…is to first take this across the Commonwealth and South Jersey, with chapters in every county, then eventually take it nation-wide.” National Chapter President, Bill Pettigrew adds, “We accept all kinds of bikers from all walks of life, as long as they are registered Republican voters. It doesn’t matter what you ride, as long as it is a motorcycle or a trike. Unlike many other motorcycle clubs, women can be full, voting members, as long as they ride their own. This is a motorcycle club, after all.” So, the vision a lot of us have of Republicans being “stuffed shirts” or the “party of the rich” is definitely a fallacy… the members of this new club hail from all walks of life, with basically two common threads running between them-conservative values and the love of being heels-up with their face in the wind. 1-888-CYCLE-LAW . LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com I am a huge advocate of purchasing as much insurance for your motorcycle that you can reasonably afford. Although nobody likes to pay insurance premiums, if you are going to spend a couple of hundred dollars for insurance you might as well spend a few bucks more and make sure that you have the coverage you need if and when you ever need it.

This months’ column is different from my previous columns in that I am choosing to be a little more selfindulgent. I simply want to share with you the trip I just experienced wherein my wife and I spent a week traveling through Italy. For those of you who have had an opportunity to visit Italy you know what a beautiful country it is and for those who may have an opportunity to go, I would encourage you to do so. To tour the Vatican, see the Sistine Chapel and walk through the coliseum is an experience that I will never forget. What amazed me most about the Vatican was the sheer amount of artwork and of course the paintings by Michelangelo. These paintings need to be seen to be fully appreciated.

So as part of this discussion, I put in my two cents stating that while price is always important, the types and limits of coverage you purchase should be the primary concern when purchasing motorcycle, or any other, insurance. I am not going to go into the specifics of coverages in this column as I have stated my preferences many times before, however, I want to reiterate that when purchasing new motorcycle insurance, or switching companies, the price of the coverage should NEVER be your primary factor. Given the tough economic times, every one is looking to save money but the cost difference between a minimal policy and a policy that provides decent coverage, can often be as little as $4-$8.00 a month. For many bikers that ride motorcycles costing $10-$25,000, an extra $4-$8 dollars a month shouldn’t put too much of a dent in anyone’s wallet.

The other aspect that I found amazing was the unbelievable number of motor-scooters. In both Florence and Rome, there were at least as many scooters as there were cars, however, surprisingly few motorcycles of any make or model. Virtually every street has scooters parked sideby-side in every possible spot. Unfortunately, I am not sure there are any rules of the road in Rome or Florence with the exception of, if it appears as though you can squeeze your car or scooter into a space to beat out the vehicle next to you, you do it! I don’t think I would ever attempt to drive a car or motorcycle in these cities.

In closing I would like to add that we will be making an appearance at the Diversified Riders Block Party and BBQ on August 27th in Ambler, PA and then at Lansdale Bike Night on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Should you attend either of these events, please look for our booth and stop by to say hello!

On a more relevant topic, I am a member of a chat-room called “Biker or Not” which is a social networking website for Bikers. I have found some very relevant information on this site that would be of benefit to many of you. Most recently there was a discussion about insurance and the appropriate price to pay. Some were complaining they were paying too much, and some were bragging about how little they were paying. However, I failed to read any discussion about the type of coverage one should have and the importance of the coverage. It seemed that most were concerned simply with the cost. For those of you who read my columns on a regular basis, you know that

The memories of that summer day on 9/11/01 still in our minds like it was yesterday. The Mayor and the city now call us “family members” and after all this time we still carry the photos of those we lost, Here we are still at ground zero long after the press has left from their last big story. We’re still looking at the rise in numbers of the fallen US soldiers who now have the job of taking on the terrorists right at their front door step. The number of lost US soldiers is well over 6000 KIA and many, many more wounded. I hope the rest of the country knows that the heavy price for freedom we all enjoy is at the cost of blood shed on the battle field. If they don’t just send them to us , 9/11 family members who still have an empty chair at Christmas and no ground for the tears of loss to touch because the DNA that we now use cannot identify their sons or daughters, mothers or fathers among the 15,000 human remains that were recovered and still sit at the OCME office waiting for a final resting place. Knowing that 9/11/01 was the reason that so many young men and women chose to join our military maybe the nonbelievers should stand with a family when the door bell rings and on the other side of the door is the news of a son killed on the battle field, then maybe, just maybe they will understand were all free because of them. Because of the time I spent in the recovery effort at ground zero, looking out at all the smoke and bent steel, and from the loss and pain of knowing that my younger brother James M. Cartier was never going to come home came a reality like a light in my mind just turned on. We need to do more. We must NEVER FORGET 9/11/01. So Sergio, George, Carlos and the rest of the crew and I put our heads together and in November 2001 American BrotherHood MC was born. It is our way to keep James Cartier, Lester Marino, Tommy Ashton and all the others who were killed on 9/11/01 from being forgotten and a way to show our support for our troops. So, on this 10th anniversary I think it would be best to use the time to thank everyone who gave us support from the beginning. I have to start with the rank and file of American BrotherHood MC and their families whom without we would never have been able to reach as far as we have in keeping the message out there. They have stood with 9/11 family members, cried and laughed with us for ten years with honor, pride and respect and they have become my brothers and family. For all they do I’m grateful. This is a debt in life that is so great it can never be repaid. They make this club what it is and keep the memories alive. To our families who give us the support to carry on every day as we ride to remember. To Butch and Richie and Rachael all formally from Ultimate Custom Cycles thank you for rebuilding my brother James’ motorcycle and making it into a moving memorial for everyone that was killed that day. This bike now sits in the window of the preview museum at 20 Vessey Street at the world trade center for the entire world to see. To all the MC clubs who have welcomed us in a biker community and are now our friends especially Sparks President Unforgiven MC who helped me get started on the right track. Thank you.

I can go on and on thanking everyone we have met over the last 10 years, but my point here is that 9/11/01 is a part of all of us now and what makes this country great is truly each other, its people, Americans coming together to help each other in our hour of need through all the ups and downs over the last ten years. We have met a lot of great people. 9/11 families paid a heavy price for this honor but if any good has come from this one day of sorrow its that the American has the best of what this world has to offer and American BrotherHood MC got to meet a lot of them and the rest of the world got to see them. So in closing, as we go forward and think about what happened to us all on that day in September let’s keep Lester, Tommy, and James and all the others in our prayers and let us NEVER FORGET…….
