t’s June already and the summer is here. There are many things going on and we are right there to bring you all of it! We are proud to announce our new Albany Area sales rep... Toni Schimmenti, she is from the Albany area, she has been riding for years, and she is this month’s Woman in the Wind. The Fast Lane Biker Bike Nights are off to a good start and everyone is really enjoying the good times. Thanks to all of you who come out each month. This guy is 72 years old and loves to fish.

He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, “Pick me up.” He looked around and couldn’t see anyone. He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say a gain, “Pick me up.” He looked in the water and there, floating on the top, was a frog. The man said, “Are you talking to me?” The frog said, “Yes, I’m talking to you. Pick me up then, kiss me and I’ ll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I’ll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride!” The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed it in his front breast pocket. Then the frog said, “What, are you nuts? Didn’t you hear what I said? I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride.” He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, “Nah, at my age I’d rather have a talking frog.” ~~~~~~~~ Twelve priests were about to be ordained. The final test was for them to line up in a straight row, totally nude, in a garden while a sexy, beautiful, big breasted, nude model danced before them. Each priest had a small bell attached to his weenie and they were told that anyone whose bell rang when she danced in front of them would not be ordained because he had not reached a state of spiritual purity. The beautiful model danced before the first candidate, with no reaction. She proceeded down the line with the same response from all the priests until she got to the final priest, Carlos. Poor Carlos. As she danced, his bell began to ring so loudly that it flew off, clattering across the ground and laid to rest in nearby foliage. Embarrassed, Carlos quickly scrambled to where the bell came to rest. He bent over to pick it up.... Then all the other bells started to ring. 4

OCC SPRING OPENER BIKE SHOW & CHARITY MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN April 24th, 2010 14 Crossroads Court . Newburgh, NY 12550

It was a perfect day to kick off the season at O.C.C’s annual Spring Opener Motorcycle Show and charity run, which benefited the Make-A Wish Foundation. Hundreds showed up to join in the run and enjoy the show and all its vendors. They also had kid’s games, a bounce house, food, and much more. What a great day to take in the festivities and check out the incredible bikes inside the huge O.C.C Headquarters. If you’ve never been there you are missing out! They have tons of the themed motorcycles from the show, shirts, boots, motorcycle parts, rims, tires, accessories, jackets, rain gear, and everything else you would ever need or want. They even have a Marvel Comic collection of toys and shirts, with Paul Sr himself on some! They have a busy year planned at O.C.C and a lot of it has to do with aiding the local community. Through charity runs and with support from the local businesses, including yours truly, O.C.C has been generously planning ways to “give back”. They called me 2 months ago to tell me about upcoming plans that would involve me and my local New York motorcycle magazine and I am honored to be a part of it. O.C.C is a business that doesn’t forget where it came from. They work closely with all the local New York businesses and communities around them and involve them any way they can. It says a lot about the characters of the men behind O.C.C. Plan on seeing big things from O.C.C this season and check off your calendars for events coming up! No one couldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve asked for a better day to attend this quality event! For those of you who may not know, the Ronald McDonald House is a charity that temporarily houses the families of children who are being treated for cancer at hospitals that may be very far away from where they live. Bikers turned out by the hundreds for a police escorted ride, then back to New Roc Harley for a BBQ, pig roast, prizes , raffles, and some cool T shirts for everyone who rode on the run. There were two terrific bands keeping the crowd entertained, and a bounce house that kept the kids entertained including my daughter, Angelina. There was even a special appearance by Ronald McDonald himself, which the kids just loved, and Angelina was thrilled when she got to talk to him! The Yonkers M.C. and the Shield and Cross M.C. lent a major helping hand to this great cause. Gritz from the Yonkers M.C. was the man on the mic all day, keeping the crowd informed and moving things along. Big thanks go to Jack from the Yonkers M.C for lending me some sun block spray for my daughter. Much appreciated! Bikers are always looking out for one another, arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t they? No favor is too big or too small when it comes to the type of people that make up the biker world! New Roc H.O.G was also helping out, lending all of their great support. Motorcycle riders and enthusiasts came out in full force to have a great time and help the Ronald McDonald House. This year was the 26th blessing of the bikes and we had two great people covering it from both ends of the city. JT started at OC’s and Kathy started at the Loop. Both groups were very large and all met up at St.Daniel’s Church on Court Street. There were some rain clouds that seemed like they wanted to interfere but everyone just took it as an extra blessing!! After the blessings, groups of bikers and passengers headed to either OC’s for a bikers’ buffet or to the Loop for a chicken BBQ. Here’s to a year where all of our blessings pay off!!!

TRUE EVEL: THE AMAZING STORY OF EVEL KNIEVEL AT THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON MUSEUM Special Exhibit Runs July 10 Through September 6

Marking the 35th anniversary of Evel Knievel’s famous Wembley Stadium jump in London on May 26, 1975, the Harley-Davidson Museum will host True Evel: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel, this summer celebrating the iconic stuntman’s life and legend. During his seminal attempt to jump 13 London buses, Knievel crashed on the landing, broke his pelvis, and announced a brief retirement to 90,000 fans following the event, although he later staged several other high-profile jumps. Acts like this cemented the legendary showman’s persona, which inspired people around the world including generations of would-be backyard daredevils and professional stunters alike, still reverberates today. “Like so many other kids growing up in the 1970s, I was a big fan of Evel Knievel, and I am thrilled to bring this exhibit celebrating his amazing life and career to a new audience. His spirit resonates with people of all ages, and there definitely is a little Evel in all of us, even if you’ve never ridden a motorcycle,” said Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum. In that spirit, the Harley-Davidson Museum invites visitors this summer to an exhibit that celebrates America’s favorite daredevil through an exclusive, first-of-its-kind temporary exhibition - the largest the Museum has ever presented. Setting numerous death-defying feats over his career, Knievel’s bike of choice was the Harley-Davidson XR-750 and he was sponsored by the Motor Company through most of the 1970s. From Knievel’s early start as a side-show character in Butte, Montana, to his transformation into a larger-than-life master showman, marketer, and folk hero with international appeal, the 10,000-square-foot exhibit will engage visitors with the story of the man behind the seemingly fearless performer. Visitors will see legendary pieces including his signature leathers and cane, personal photographs and letters, collectors’ toys and memorabilia, and the rocket-inspired Skycycle X-2 used in Knievel’s infamous 1974 attempt to jump Idaho’s Snake River Canyon. The exhibit runs July 10 through September 6 and tells the story of Evel Knievel through fascinating artifacts drawn from both the Harley-Davidson Archives and the Knievel family collection. This was a car show, but I wanted to put the bike in the “Grotto” which is where they place all the Hot Rods. The lady at the gate listed the bike as a 1963. After watching some nostalgia drag racing I went back to the bike to see the judges had placed a trophy presentation card on the bike. I was shocked as this was a “Car Show”. When I went to the judge’s tent I was awarded “Best 60’s” vehicle; out of all the cars, a bike won! The code “10-48” is an actual police code for “Coffee Break”; which of course is what we like to think of as “Coffee & Donuts”. The logo on the tank is in reference to the “1 cash making business in our county: Meth. If one get busted another one pops up; therefore the term “Crank County”. I have also been pulled over for impersonating an officer because of the black and white bike with the black & white helmet I wear. So luckily I was given a warning. I JUST BUMPED IT. HONEST!!! lower tree will be okay, but if not, we will replace it also.

I got a bike in a couple of weeks ago, that i have worked on before. nice, clean looking IRON HORSE. The owner, said a family member bumped his bike with a car (a big car) while the bike was parked in the garage. At first look, it seemed it was only the sidestand bent when it was BUMPED. The bike did not fall over, it must have been pushed back, or to the primary side, enough to bend the stand. Not a problem, stands are cheap and easy to replace. Looking again, you could see where the bike was hit, the right side lower leg had a good scratch in it, thru the chrome, down to the aluminum.

Gotta take the tubes off anyway, but we will slide the lower leg that is scratched off the tube first, it is easier on the bike. This is a PRO-ONE front end we put on, at the same time, we put the custom climax controls handlebars on. So after the leg is off, we have to un-plug all the electric connections to the bars and the lights, so we can take them off to get at the trees. Not a bad job, being we wired this thing to come apart, if needed, with plugs, so it is not too bad a deal. One problem is that the hydraulic clutch and front brake lines are inside the bar and, when you break a line to fix stuff and you have to bleed it again, it’s work. So I opted to cover the gas tank with a couple of moving blankets, taped them in place, and set the bars on the tank, out of the way, and in tact. It’ll save me a lot of work later.

I know this bike and it was perfect prior to this happening but, I did notice one thing that was not going to be an easy task. With the bars all the way to the left, they almost hit the gas tank. Good thing they didn’t, ‘cause the paint on the tank would set you back a bunch of bucks to get it matched... But looking further, with the bars the other way, there was the usual clearance. Hence the problem. The bike has internal fork stops, which means the whole front end has to come off to replace the lower bearing cup. Maybe the slotted stop on the

With all that done, now there is room to pop the lower bearing cup out of the frame. What happened when it was bumped was the finger that sticks down into the matching slot in the lower tree was brokem off from the im38

pact, just at the corner, enough to let the bars come dangerously close to smackin the gas tank. Moving on with the program, we take the new cup out of the box, take a look, and see the dowel pin on the backside of the cup that fits into a hole in the frame. Cool. So, we pop the other old cup out, and suprise, suprise... This was installed at the factory and it does not have a dowel pin to secure it. Here we go... It has four small roll pins going thru holes drilled into it and into the frame under the cup to keep it secure. Shit... This is not good. To make a long story short, I gotta make a hole in the frame, upside down, for the new cup to fit . Well, after I calmed down a bit, I made some measurements of the pin location on the cup then transferred them to the frame and made a mark. Then I started with a small drill bit and carefully drilled the first hole in the frame. This ain’t easy working upside down. Then bit by bit, got the hole out to the size it should be to hold the cup firmly. Anyone that has to do this knows what I mean, it really sucks and, of course, the new cup doesn’t have a race in it, so I press a race in the cup, throw the cup in the freezer for a half hour or so which will shrink the stainless enough for it to press in easy and not distort the cup. Being I’m at the fridge, gonna take a break, and look at the slot stop on the lower tree. Well, the thing looks like new but, just in case, I’m puttin’ the new one on. Its only four small screws and pulling the bearing off, only a 10 minute deal. Use some red on the screws, pop the bearing on an that’s that. With the cup installation tool and a cold piece of metal, the lower cup slides in place with little trouble. Done deal!!!!!! Don’t think I have to go through the whole assembly thing with ya, done that a bunch of times here. So we put the whole front end together except for the right side lower leg, which is at the chromers, and that’s it for now. By the way, this was an insurance claim and, even though it does not sound like much, this was around $1500 bucks when all is done. So, next time you ‘bump’ a bike with a car or another bike, be careful because you may cause more damage than you think. Like this deal, the guy in the cage said he just bumped it and didn`t hurt it at all. That’s because stupid... It ain’t always what you can see that’s screwed up! Some people are really stupid... BIKERS BIKERS COME COME TO TO We traveled with many other hardy bikers to Alexandria Bay to help Mary lock down the HOG Rally for the year 2011.We lined the streets with people and bikes, bikes on boats, bikes riding into the bay, bikes everywhere followed by rain but we wanted to show our support to a fine lady who has been making The River Run a success for 4 years, always getting bigger each year. Harley reps were there to see all of us as we lined the streets on the bay. Despite our positive thoughts we did not get it for 2011, but that does not mean Mary will give up! She knows how to organize events, draw the crowds, and show how we bikers have fun and get along and also bring a bit of monetary benefits wherever we go. Three cheers for Mary! When I made my first trip out to Laconia Bike Week I saw so many women riders and I was very jealous. I knew I could do it and I signed up for the class as soon as I got home. That was about 4 years ago. Now, I have so many riding friends and absolutely love being part of the biker community. As a single Mom paying a mortgage and million other bills, I couldn’t afford the bike I really wanted (no offense to all you Honda people�). So I bought one I could afford and then fixed her up a little bit. I wanted to put white walls on it but was unable to find them for my bike. Of course bikes are like tattoos, you’re always thinking about what you want next. I was unfortunately in an accident a couple of years ago when I was on the back of my ex’s bike. That was one scary experience. I almost didn’t get back on. Everyone said if I didn’t do it right away, I never would. So I did, and I am so glad! Although I’m still a little weary getting on the back of somebody else’s, I still love to ride! And Thank God for my full face helmet because if I didn’t have that on, I wouldn’t still be around to ride today! Thanks so much to FLB! Ingredients: 1 lb. lean ground beef 3 tbsp. chopped onions 3 tbsp. catsup 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper Dash of Tabasco sauce Directions: Mix all ingredients together well and place covered mixture in the refrigerator for several hour to marinate, before grilling. Form hamburger patties in a dish with vertical sides to eliminate a thin dried edge when cooked. Grilled Beer Hamburgers : Submitted by: Wayne Evertt, NJ. Ingredients: Patties: 2 pounds ground beef (1/4 lb. Per burger) Worcestershire sauce (a tsp. or two per patty) Seasoning salt (Lowry’s is very good) Directions: Shape fresh or completely thawed meat into patty shapes. Press down in the middle with your thumbs to thin them a bit in the center, as burgers shrink a bit and plump up in the middle. Splash on the Worcestershire sauce and seasoning salt. A little pepper is also tasty, though some people like pepper and some do not. The Beer Sauce: 1/2 can beer (your favorite) 3 tbsp. steak sauce (the thick type like Heinz) 1 tbsp. sugar 1/3 cup ketchup 1 tbsp. mustard 1/2 tsp seasoning salt (same as used in the meat) Directions: Stir all the sauce ingredients up in a sauce pan and then heat on low until you have a nice blend that is thickened and looks like slathering sauce. Pineapple Juice Hamburger Marinade : Submitted by: Alex Vetri, Pa. Ingredients: Juice from 1 can of pineapple rings 1/2 cup Italian dressing (zesty is best) 1 T honey 1 tsp cinnamon dash of seasoning salt and pepper (not a lot) Directions: Mix all ingredients and pour over raw burgers. Let the hamburgers sit an hour or more or even overnight in the refrigerator. Cover the burgers while marinating to hold in the moisture and tastes (and to keep the bugs out). Also, put the pineapple rings in a zip lock bag or Tupperware container, so the rings do not dry out. Grill the burgers as you would normally grill. Pop the pineapple rings on the grill right before the burgers come off. They only need to cook a few minutes. You want grill marks. When the pineapple rings have marks, they are hot and ready to top on the hamburgers.

Grilled Tex-Mex Hamburgers Submitted by: Tom Bernacki, PA. Ingredients: 2 pounds ground beef 4 tbsp. finely chopped onion 1 tbsp. cilantro (fresh is best) 8 tbsp. salsa (favorite brand or homemade) 1 tbsp. hot sauce (any hot sauce is fine – go with a family favorite) 8 slices Pepper Jack cheese (or shredded Mexican mixed cheese) 8 buns Toppings (salsa and other favorites) Directions: Mix the ground beef, onion, cilantro, salsa and hot sauce. It’s easiest to do the mixing by hand. Shape 8 burgers of equal size. Press the center down a bit, so the burgers do not puff up too much in the center. Heat grill to medium and put burgers on. Cook until the grease runs clear – or until desired doneness. Right before the burgers are done, place slices of Pepper Jack cheese on top of each burger or sprinkle on some Mexican mixed cheese. It only takes a few seconds for the cheese to melt. Serve on buns with salsa and other toppings. For those who love hot food, have some hot sauce to splash on the burgers too. While you’re heating up the grill, put some nacho chips on the grill. Those are delicious and take only seconds to heat up. Everyone enjoys munching on the chips while the burgers are cooking. The Sweet Lane: Desserts From Melody: Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Layered Cheesecake Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs 1 1/3 cups sugar, divided 1/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted 2 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 cartons (8 oz. each) dairy sour cream 3 eggs, slightly beaten 1 3/4 cups (11 oz. package) Reese’s Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chips, divided 1 teaspoon shortening (do not use butter, margarine, spread or oil) Directions: Heat oven to 325 F. Combine graham cracker crumbs, 1/3 cup sugar, cocoa and melted butter in medium bowl. Press crumb mixture evenly onto bottom and about 11/2 inches up side of 9-inch springform pan. Bake 8 minutes; remove from oven. Cool slightly. Increase oven temperature to 350 F. Beat cream cheese, remaining 1 cup sugar and vanilla on medium speed of mixer until well-blended. Add sour cream; beat on low speed until blended. Add eggs; beat on low speed until just blended. Do not over-beat. Pour 2 cups filling into prepared crust. Reserve 1/4 cup chips for drizzle. Sprinkle remaining 11/2 cup chips evenly over filling in pan. Carefully spoon remaining filling over chips. Bake about 1 hour or until center is almost set. Remove from oven. Using knife or narrow metal spatula, loosen cheesecake from side of pan. Cool on wire rack additional 30 minutes. Remove side of pan; cool 1 hour. Combine shortening and reserved 1/4 cup chips in a small, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on High (100%) 30 seconds; stir. If necessary, microwave on High additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred. Drizzle over cheesecake; cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours. Cover and refrigerate leftovers. Serving Size: Makes 12 to 14 servings Melody’s Bourbon Chocolate Cake Ingredients: 1 pkt Chocolate cake mix, with pudding 3 Eggs 1/2 cup Bourbon whiskey 1/2 cup cup Water, cold 1/3 cup Vegetable oil

Frosting: 1 pt. Whipping cream 1/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 cup cup Powdered sugar 1 tsp. Vanilla 1/2 cup cup Bourbon 1 cup Nuts, chopped

Directions: Butter and flour two 9” round cake pans. Combine cake mix, eggs, bourbon, cold water and vegetable oil in large bowl of mixer. Beat for 2 minutes on high speed until very light. Pour into pans. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until tests done. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove. Cool completely. Split layers in half horizontally. Spread frosting over each cake layer. Sprinkle with walnuts. Stack layers. Cover sides with frosting. Chill at least 2 hours. FROSTING: In large mixing bowl, combine whipping cream, cocoa, powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until stiff then fold in the bourbon.

SALLYâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S TICKER TUNE UP April 24th 2010 Debbie and John Landers

Johnnie and I attended a benefit for one of the people we know who had some medical issues and needed help with the medical expenses. A beautiful, bright, sunny day fell upon us as we mingled with friends, enjoyed some food, and downed a couple of cold ones. We went to the South Bay Rod and Gun Club where more than 200 people converged to show off or admire the many, many sharp looking and cool sounding bikes. We could not have asked for a better day. This place handled the large crowd very well. The food kept coming and the music kept playing! We all had a great time and great feelings when we saw just how many generous souls turned out to help someone in need. There were numerous, great door prizes and an incredible staff and volunteer group. Cousin Jake did their thing and made great music for the impressive crowd. It was a good time had by all, and Sully is very fortunate to have so many caring people. Thank you to everyone involved!

SKIN AND STEEL MOTORCYCLE SHOW April 25th, 2010 . By: Debbie Landers

Johnnie and I attended The Skin and Steel Show despite the foul weather. The show was good with a lot of different vendors and we were glad to cover it for Rochester and the bikers in that area. We met some people from Syracuse at the show which was nice. We took pictures, made chit chat, and handed out the magazine. We got a very nice response and even a few new businesses to follow up on. We enjoyed the leisure pace and room to see everything there. We will look forward to covering that event in the future.

Thursday night’s Bike Nights at the Tack Room have become the true definition of what a bike night should be all about. A bunch of really great people coming together and having a blast. The ladies, as always, were struttin’ their stuff, and the guys were eating it up. Vinny was in the back flippin’ burgers and dogs, and the rest of the food was supplied by Dominick’s Pizza, right next door. I must say, it was awesome - thanks guys! Sea Monster could have played all night the way the joint was rockin’! As always, Kim and Marie kept the beverages flowing. And what would a Tack Room Bike Night be without bikes?! Ray’s ‘99 Wideglide took Best Paint. Best Chrome, hands down, went to Nick from Ironheads M.C. with his decked-out Yamaha V-Star. The ‘95 bobbed out softail, owned by Mario, won Best Custom, and Best Overall, without a doubt, went to Mike’s ‘45 Indian. Sovereign Brotherhood M.C. was awarded Best Represented Club.
