e would like to welcome Utica Harley Davidson, Roma’s, The Stadium, Iron Block, Heritage Cycles, Fast Lane DJ Services, Sparrow Tattoo, and Jersey Jay Wymbs Tattooing at Under My Skin Tattoo Show. Take a moment to remember all those who lost their lives 10 years ago today on 9/11/2001. Many of us in the NY and surrounding area lost friends, loved ones, family and co-workers. It’s been 10 years since that fateful day, but this year we saw the black cloud that was hanging over the tragedy disappear from the face of the Earth. I hope the piece of sh*t burns in Hell. He got what he deserves, double tapped by true American warriors of Seal Team Six. No matter where, when or how long it takes, WE WILL FIND YOU. America doesn’t FORGET, EVER!! Maybe I have a little evil side. I love the fact that the last thing that piece of trash saw was our Seal Team Six storm his home, fully geared up with night scopes on. Our Warrior Ghosts. He must have been Sh*tting himself. Despite his hard words of never be taken alive and telling all his people to sacrifice their lives for him, what did he do? Did he go out fighting? Did he do as he told all his followers to do? NO! He died like the coward he was. I know the scars will never fade for the survivors of the lost ones, but I felt the black cloud disappeared that night and a chapter closed. September finds us with many great events from Fast Lane Biker’s Seaside Heights bike week to Delmarva Bike week, Wild Wood bike week, The Sept 3rd Biker Blow out in Mt. Upton NY, and many more events. Be careful out there and have a blast. We will see you out on the road and have some good times with all of you. Remember, there is only one Fast lane Biker NY. Make sure you spread the word by telling your local dealers and businesses to support your favorite magazine, as our supporters bring you the magazine each month.

New York’s Biggest, Best, Baddest Motorcycle Magazine!! Until next month... Keep your knees in the breeze!

FROM THE SMOKE COVERED SEAL COMES THE FOCUS OF A MISSION OF REMEMBRANCE.......... So here we are 10 years later. The memories of that summer day on 9/11/01 still in our minds like it was yesterday. The Mayor and the city now call us “family members” and after all this time we still carry the photos of those we lost, Here we are still at ground zero long after the press has left from their last big story. We’re still looking at the rise in numbers of the fallen US soldiers who now have the job of taking on the terrorists right at their front door step. The number of lost US soldiers is well over 6000 KIA and many, many more wounded. I hope the rest of the country knows that the heavy price for freedom we all enjoy is at the cost of blood shed on the battle field. If they don’t just send them to us , 9/11 family members who still have an empty chair at Christmas and no ground for the tears of loss to touch because the DNA that we now use cannot identify their sons or daughters, mothers or fathers among the 15,000 human remains that were recovered and still sit at the OCME office waiting for a final resting place. Knowing that 9/11/01 was the reason that so many young men and women chose to join our military maybe the nonbelievers should stand with a family when the door bell rings and on the other side of the door is the news of a son killed on the battle field, then maybe, just maybe they will understand were all free because of them. Because of the time I spent in the recovery effort at ground zero, looking out at all the smoke and bent steel, and from the loss and pain of knowing that my younger brother James M. Cartier was never going to come home came a reality like a light in my mind just turned on. We need to do more. We must NEVER FORGET 9/11/01. So Sergio, George, Carlos and the rest of the crew and I put our heads together and in November 2001 American BrotherHood MC was born. It is our way to keep James Cartier, Lester Marino, Tommy Ashton and all the others who were killed on 9/11/01 from being forgotten and a way to show our support for our troops. So, on this 10th anniversary I think it would be best to use the time to thank everyone who gave us support from the beginning. I have to start with the rank and file of American BrotherHood MC and their families whom without we would never have been able to reach as far as we have in keeping the message out there. They have stood with 9/11 family members, cried and laughed with us for ten years with honor, pride and respect and they have become my brothers and family. For all they do I’m grateful. This is a debt in life that is so great it can never be repaid. They make this club what it is and keep the memories alive. To our families who give us the support to carry on every day as we ride to remember. To Butch and Richie and Rachael all formally from Ultimate Custom Cycles thank you for rebuilding my brother James’ motorcycle and making it into a moving memorial for everyone that was killed that day. This bike now sits in the window of the preview museum at 20 Vessey Street at the world trade center for the entire world to see. To all the MC clubs who have welcomed us in a biker community and are now our friends especially Sparks President Unforgiven MC who helped me get started on the right track. Thank you.

To Frank and the crew at Fast Lane Biker, who never forget us and always help us get our message out there, thank you. To the entire UNION construction workers that answered the call 10 years ago to help at ground zero and try to find survivors, thank you. To local Union #3 IBEW and all its members for always being there and keeping the 17 members we lost from our union in the minds and hearts of all union members. Thank you. To all the New Yorkers that came to ground zero on a daily basis to cheer us on as we walked into ground zero in the recovery effort and all the volunteers that worked for days and days at ground zero, thank you. To Seal Team Six, for killing that piece of shit with one to the head and one to the chest, thank you will never be enough. I can go on and on thanking everyone we have met over the last 10 years, but my point here is that 9/11/01 is a part of all of us now and what makes this country great is truly each other, its people, Americans coming together to help each other in our hour of need through all the ups and downs over the last ten years. We have met a lot of great people. 9/11 families paid a heavy price for this honor but if any good has come from this one day of sorrow its that the American has the best of what this world has to offer and American BrotherHood MC got to meet a lot of them and the rest of the world got to see them. So in closing, as we go forward and think about what happened to us all on that day in September let’s keep Lester, Tommy, and James and all the others in our prayers and let us NEVER FORGET…….

NORTH

First Annual Motorcycle Rally, Music Festival and Outdoor Trade Show Promotions 2011 INC.

If you would have asked me years ago, “Do you ever see yourself traveling out of the country for motorcycle events?” I would have said, “No.” My heart is beating faster now as I think about all the mountain paradises I have explored and become one with. You can’t keep me away from wanting to seek more. The adventure alone will take your breath away and at the same time your eyes will fall in love. Salmon Arm, British Columbia welcomed all rides into their city with open arms. This is their first time to host a motorcycle rally and it has the potential to be the largest rally of its kind in Canada. Salmon Arm is a great starting point for exploring incredible roads that can take you to little towns deep in the Thompson Okanagan to explore not only the local twisty roads, but perhaps local wineries, mountains, beaches and orchards. There are two major locations situated about 6 miles apart. You could catch a ride on the Shuttle Service that carries you from Sturgis North Grounds to the Salmon Arm Fall Fairgrounds. What a great way to enjoy the party without the worry. Out of the estimated 50,000 riders in town for the festival, only a handful got issued a ticket. AWESOME!! On the Sturgis North Grounds is where you find big music headliners. Doug and the Slugs, Jerry Doucette, Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer, Lee Aaron, Prism, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Nazareth, John Kay/Steppenwolf and so much more. The crowds took over the grounds and danced the night away night after night. Camping was just on the other side of the vendors and made for a short walk back to home base. No worries, all fun. Vendors from all over Canada join in on the biggest motorcycle event ever held in Salmon Arm. It was a hit right from the start. Before the event could end the crowd was already asking questions about 2012. The first time Veteran’s Ride to Sicamous was a hit with all that joined in on the 100 mile ride through the mountains and lakes, what an adventure to become a part of. Sicamous was off the hook. Over 4,000 people covered the streets on the main drag. The city of Sicamous opened its arms to all during the event. They held a small burn out pit in the middle of the city and it blew everyone’s minds. What a way to make bikers feel right at home. A big thanks goes out to the city of Sicmous. We shall see you in 2012. On Sunday we went on the Celebrity Ride to Revelstoke. What a beautiful day to take in the lake view, snow on top of the mountains and the twisty roads of a lifetime. We had feature judges Roger Goldammer and Chica Chikazama to judge the biker build-off between Talliass Cycles, Outlaws 86 Customs, Skookum Fabrication, Eyecandy Customs Cycles, Cherry Custom Fab, Collins Engineering, Kootenay Motorcycle Art, Freakshow Customs Choppers, Azzkikr Customs Cycles, Steve’s Cycles, Doc’s Choppers and Trick Factory Customs.

The showcase was insane. A variety of entertainment that had a little bit of something to appeal to everyone that attended. The sky was clear and the sun came out to join us on the 100 mile ride to Revelstoke. We ended the ride with an amazing luncheon at the Glacier House Hotel & Resort. The day was PERFECT!!

Start your plans for Sturgis North 2012 now and don’t miss out on the next big show everyone is talking about. You will never forget the view, the wild bands rockin’ the grounds until 1am and the freedom to be a biker everywhere you go while in mountain paradise Salmon Arm, British Columbian, CANADA. See you there in 2012. Start packing ASAP. Always Be Safe, Kimmy Cruz

WHAT IT’S ABOUT by Sorez The Scribe

It’s about going down the road at 80 miles an hour The ol’ lady hanging on to ya for dear life And loving every minute of it It’s about reaching out to a Brother who is down Not only being there when times are good But when they are bad as well It’s about twisting the throttle into tomorrow Kicking the shifter up another gear In the moment out there in the wind It’s about the ride through life we take Upon two wheels and open roads Throttling down the highway of life It’s about surviving To be able to live To ride Another day

Presented by Wurtsboro Chapter H.O.G. with O’Tooles Harley-Davidson . July 31st, 2011 Pig Roast Sponsored by David Lerner Associates . Story by Fast Lane Frank . Pictures by Dave & Jane Norton

Once again we experienced a huge crowd and an even bigger success than the previous year .The event, in its 17th year, is thrown by the Wurtsboro H.O.G Chapter and in conjunction with O’Toole’s Harley Davidson to benefit The St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Wurtsboro H.O.G chapter pulls out all the stops every year to help children in need. I have gotten to know the chapter well over the last 4 years and have sponsored an ad in the magazine each year since. They work very hard to ensure the event is a huge success and are very caring, generous people. The poker run started at O’Toole’s Harley Davidson, 4 Sullivan St. in Wurtsboro, NY, and ended at Mamakating Town Park where the party began. They had vendors, food, bike shows and games, a pig roast and much more. Live music was provided by The Scott Weis band and people were kept rocking along all day. They had their annual Harley Road King Raffle for first prize, $300 for second and $200 for 3rd place. The park was packed and people were having a great day all to benefit St. Jude. Thanks to the hard working people of Wurtsboro H.O.G!

QUEENSBORO MC & HOSE 3 Present THE MONSTER TWO DAY EVENT Sponsored by Harrison Law Group & Tom Mele . August 7th, 2011 Story by Fast Lane Frank . Pictures by Harrison Law Group & Tom Mele

This is one of the most anticipated events of the year and has grown into two days full of fun and games. This year’s event moved to the fireman’s field in Baldwin and included a pro stunt competition and exhibition, with guest judges Blaze, Smokey, Drew C and J Coolz. Music by DJ Red kept the party going all day and a special appearance was made by the Latin Riderz M.C. International Stunt team from Puerto Rico. Vendors, food, trophies, and beer kept everyone happy all weekend long. On Sunday the event shifted to the Queensboro Rodeo. Although there was a little rain, it didn’t deter thousands of people and bikers who came for day two of The Monster Event. They had the famous Port-O- Potty pull, a tug of war for the young and old alike, the motorcycle potato find in the hay, a keg toss and many more motorcycle games. There aren’t many clubs that still have the old time motorcycle games, but the Queensboro M.C. is no ordinary club. This event has become one of the largest events in the North East region. This year Mark, the new President, called all the shots and should be commended for a job well done. Year after year The Queensboro M.C remains a shining example in every aspect, from their events to the great people who make up the club. I have always used them as an example when asked about the qualities of a great club. For More information on the club or events go to www.queensboromc.com

It’s going to cool down faster. (Don’t worry, I am not talking about the intensity of my eyes, wink) Even though the sun will shine less, you should still keep sunscreen on your tattoos. I often get asked how the color on my tattoos stays so vibrant, and the answer is a combination of things. The artist’s ability, the ink he or she uses, and the location of the tattoo are all factors that come into play. Taking good care of your tattoo while it heals is also crucial. Often overlooked, keeping your skin healthy everyday is going to keep your tattoos looking young, along with the rest of you. Makes perfect sense to me! Good tattoos are an investment in art. They are an investment of time, money, pain, and of self. To extend their life is to extend your appreciation of them. Curious topic change, but still relevant: have you ever thought of preserving your tattoos after you...gulp...die? The leather you wear is preserved skin. Not human skin of course, but a deceased person’s last request seems less offensive than wearing slaughtered animal remains. If it ended up being of little inconvenience, I would be thrilled if my family had a bit of me skinned and hung in a museum. Maybe just the hourglass on my tummy, or just the skull on my chest. Why bury perfectly good canvas? --Tell me your thoughts, check out leahjung. com 35

MYTHS: GYPSIES, DON VETO AND ofTHE STRAIGHT PIPERS their attitudes. There was the POBOBs Story & Photos by: Tony Trezza

Certain images, terms and phrases conjure up different thoughts and emotions as seen through one’s minds eye. Most of these depictions are reflections of memories from our life experiences. That being said, some words have different meanings to different people, this is especially true between different age groups. As time goes by words and phrases take on different meanings. I ‘m guessing this was one element of what was referred to as the generation gap back in the day. Let’s take the word “Beat” for example. Back in the fifties and early sixties this word brought one thing to mind, it defined a whole generation as did the term road trip. My thoughts go immediately to Kerouac and Dean Moriority flying down Route 66 sniffing Vicks nasal inhalers and dropping “bennies”. Beat eventually turned into a bag of oregano and “On The Road” for today’s generation turned into Jack Black trying to get his girl back from the clutches of some izod wearing jock. Now I’m not really a mall kind of guy but the other day I found myself being carried along with the lemmings as I wandered the spiral tiers of today’s version of Main Street. My purpose for this pilgrimage was a birthday gift for my teenage niece. With the exception of Victoria’s Secret most of the shops are kind of a blur. They pretty much all look the same but one did catch my eye and it wasn’t so much for their witty merchandising angle or its surfer motif but the name they had chosen. It brought to mind something completely opposite of what I suspect its owners wanted to evoke in potential customers. After a little research I found out that the store is owned by what was once the primer outdoor outfitter in the world. In the early part of the twentieth century Abercrombie and Fitch, who until 1977 was located at Madison Ave and 45 St in NYC sold guns and fly rods to the likes of Ernest Hemmingway and Teddy Roosevelt and they are the same guys who outfitted Robert Peary’s expedition to the North Pole in 1909. They are now peddling sweat shirts emblazoned with the logo “Hollister”. What sacrilege. What immediately comes to my mind when I see the name Hollister California are rolled 501 jeans, engineer boots and a shiny black leather Schott Perfecto. Not exactly that gnarly surfer dude image. The events in Hollister California on the July 4th weekend in 1947 did more to shape today’s biker than any event in the history of motorcycling. Not even the creation of “ the motor company” can compare. After WWII many GI’s found themselves dropped off on the shores of sunny California with their separation pay and a hand shake from Uncle Sam. Not having acquired many social graces in places like Bataan and Sicily most of these guys were still a little rough around the edges. The job market was OK and the weather was perfect. These were blue collar guys of which many still had a bit of wanderlust in their veins. This my friends were the beginnings of a perfect storm. With lots of Army surplus motorcycles available relatively cheap, many of these guys began to hit the road to blow off steam and try to erase what was for some the scars of a long conflict. Many of them formed riding clubs the names of which were reflective

(Pissed Off Bastards of Bloomington) , The 13 Rebels, the Yellow Jackets and of course The Boozefighters who are still going strong today. What we refer to today as a run or a rally were back then called Gypsy Tours. 1947’s Gypsy Tour to the town of Hollister was an AMA sanctioned event. There were flat track races at Bolado Park, hill climbs and many of the whimsical events still held today at many rallies throughout the country. But this weekend in July goes down in history as the defining moment in time when today’s modern day biker image was born. These events where then as they are today an economic shot in the arm for the host communities. Hollister is a central coastal agricultural community about 100 miles southeast of San Francisco. They had been holding these events for years before the war and this was to be the first since VJ Day. A nice ride today but you can bet it was even a hell of lot nicer some 60 odd years ago. According to eye witness accounts the bikers did a lot of drinking and raising hell but that was to be expected. Some impromptu races were held down the main drag, San Benito Street, with the locals joining the bikers in cheering on the young men as they blew off steam. In fact the “straight pipers” as they were known were having so much fun in town many ignored the sanctioned races at the track. The local garage was doing a brisk business in flat tire repairs and the bars, of which there were 21 in town, didn’t even mind when a few bikes were driven through the front doors for a goof. All was good. There were some minor injuries that were treated at the local hospital and about 50 busts for public intoxication or drunken and disorderly, but most were cut loose after the offenders sobered up. Many were back on the streets in a few hours. These were all working guys that had to be back on the job on Tuesday morning after the big three day holiday weekend. So things started to wind down Sunday evening and by Monday morning most were back on the road and heading home. The guys had there good time. The merchants got fat and no one was seriously hurt. There was no destruction of property, no pillaging , no rape or arson. Attila the Hun had not descended on this sleepy California town of 4,500. That’s the reality of Hollister. But that all changed when the latest issue of Life magazine hit the news stands. A photographer for the San Francisco Chronicle named Barney Peterson staged what would become the shot heard round the world. After righting a fallen Harley he gathered a bunch of beer bottles that were strewn about the street into a pile by the bikes front tire. He than asked a drunk that stumbled out of Johnny’s bar to pose on the bike. With a beer bottle in each hand and a look of unmistaken inebriation on his mug one click of the shutter gave a new meaning to the term biker. The Chronicle never ran the photo but it somehow got picked up by Life Magazine. It ran on page 31 of the July 21st 1947 issue

42

with the caption: “Cyclists Holiday - He and his friends terrorize a town”. Newspaper accounts followed that were more fiction than fact and thus the infamous Hollister Motorcycle Riots were born. Now this isn’t the end of the story but rather the beginning. As the story goes after this non- incident the American Motorcycle Association is said to have released a statement saying that 99% of all motorcyclist do not act in this manner. Of course the brothers who might have played a part in this alleged debacle put there own spin on this and said: Hell yeah we are that 1%. A tag that is still worn proudly today by many on the fringes of polite society. Of course the AMA claims the story is apocryphal and does not or will not own up to it. The lurid and alarmist tales that were spun after the incident inspired writer Frank Rooney to pen the short story “The Cyclists Raid” which appeared in the January 1951 edition of Harper’s Magazine. The story was re written for the big screen and “The Wild One” was produced by Stanly Kramer and released by Columbia Pictures on December 30, 1953. The movie chronicles the tale of two rival clubs. Marlon Brando plays Johnny Stabler the leader of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club who is confronted by his rival Chino, head man of the Beetles MC played by Lee Marvin. If you’ve never seen this flick or haven’t watched it in a while rent it. The opening sequence is brilliant. Brando’s Johnny has become the iconic image of the biker ever since the films release and was the ultimate anti hero of the day. The film spawned a whole generation of booted, leather jacket wearing teens and was blamed for all sorts of social ills and with it’s release a new film genre was born. The Biker flick. The movie was banned in the United Kingdom for fourteen years and was finally given an X rating and released in London in 1968. I can still here the words delivered in the style only the future Godfather could affect. When the cute doe eyed chick with the beehive hairdo asks “ What are you rebelling against Johnny?” With a shrug of his shoulders Brando turns and answers nonchalantly “Whaddaya got?”

Discovering a New Planet By: Lanman

One of the greatest things about Rock n’ Roll music is that there is something new coming of age all the time. This month I have discovered a sensational new rock artist; Jamsync Music recording artist PLANET 9. PLANET 9 can be best described as southern rock meets The Four Horsemen twisted with a little flavor of The Almighty. Vocalist/guitarist Alan ‘AK’ Kennedy creates seductive melodies with lyrics from life and reminiscent of the late great Frank Starr and Ricky Warwick. PLANET 9 is the quintessential hard rock band from Ohio formed in 1999 and solidified in 2007. When you first lay ears on their sound; their influences speak clearly of so many great rockers that have come before them such as: AC DC, Metallica, The Cult, Black Sabbath, C.O.C, Cycle and Guns ‘n Roses. Each member in the band has had their fair share of opening for national acts from A to Z. PLANET 9 recorded their debut CD with Jack Campitelli of Fishtank Audio. The self-titled debut delivers serious ear candy to the rock ‘n roll connoisseur. The infectious groove grabs your attention and chokes it out like only true grit rock and roll can. Front man/ guitarist Alan ‘AK’ Kennedy belts out some attitude in his lyrics while guitarist and backing vocalist Ron Zingaro adds to the brutal guitars and super charged riffs. The rhythm is tightly held down by Rich Wilson (bass) and Geof Wilson (drums). Get yourself a copy at jamsyncmusic. com! Fans who turnout to the PLANET 9 party best describe the band’s sound as “dash board pounding-fist pumping rock” and fans will surely get the chance seeing as PLANET 9 landed the support slot on a national tour with KILL DEVIL HILL the new band featuring Vinny Appice (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, DIO) on drums, Rex Brown (DOWN, PANTERA) on bass, Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) on guitar and Jason “Dewey” Bragg (PISSING RAZORS) on vocals.
