ight in the middle of the Women’s Empowerment Issue and the Wedding Issue, both very proper topics for a women’s lifestyle magazine, is the Men’s Issue. It is an interesting task for us here at Identity to switch gears and focus on topics relative to the men in our lives, but we are up to the challenge! Fortunately, Egyptian men give us plenty to work with, whether it’s the newest video games to play, the male struggles of marriage, or even fashion (because yes, men need fashion as well).
Additionally, there is a plethora of inspiring and interesting men around us that make it easy to fill our pages with their interviews. From directors, actors, doctors, artists, and entrepreneurs, they all have incredible stories to share. It was definitely a pleasure to meet with these men, and we hope you enjoy reading about their experiences as much as we did writing about them.

advice gurus childhood scars I just highlighted. If your girlfriend has female friends who have been cheated upon, dumped, or abused, then this makes the scars deeper and scarier. You can also widen your perspective to include her self-image and self-esteem issues; which parts of her body does she hate? Which parts does she always hide? How does she think of herself? Is she worthy of being loved? Does she like herself as a person? Thinking of all of these points will help you empathize with your girlfriend and understand why she is governed by insecurities and how her demons are haunting your relationship.

LEVEL UP MENTAL ABILITY WITH VIDEO GAMES by Kate Kerpez
If you play video games, you have probably been told that your hobby can have unfortunate outcomes such as laziness or violence. At best, video games are often considered a waste of time, but there is more to this hobby than the eye can see. Behind the game controller, the player may be making major psychological gains.
While it is important to note that there is a wellestablished link between violent video games and aggression, it has not been proven as causal. A review of all relevant research published between 2009 and 2013 decisively supported this link between violent video games and violent behaviour, but the research tends to be correlational, not causal. This is an important distinction in psychological research, as causal research can conclude that one type of behaviour or attitude is caused by another, while correlational research can only conclude that one type of behaviour or attitude consistently rises or falls in the same way as something else. This means that one possibility is that people with violent personalities are more likely to play violent video games, while another possibility is that people who play violent video games are more likely to develop violent personalities. The research has not conclusively decided which possibility is more true.
Playing video games can have a multitude of benefits, especially if the game involves more “cognitive processing,” or mental effort. Many games can improve the player’s ability to multitask. For instance, a player may need to jump over obstacles and look out for treasure or enemies at the same time. Paying close attention and making quick in-game decisions can improve memory, attention, and speed of problem-solving. Games can also improve spatial attention, which is the ability to focus on objects in our environment. Searching for specific objects in games, such as treasure chests, develop this ability. THE NEWEST VIDEO GAMES TO DIE FOR by Yasser Aboraya
Why do guys love video games so much and consider them the best source of entertainment? This question will remain one of the unravelled mystifying secrets in our lives. But rather than kill the fun, we’ve round up the latest selection of games that will fuel his inner child. scenes, Uncharted 4 will put gamers in control of Nathan as he goes about in an unforgettable journey seeking fortune. NO MAN’S SKY Platforms: Playstation 4 and PC Release Date: June 21st, 2016
Possibly the most anticipated game of the year, No Man’s Sky will redefine how gamers will think of freeroam gaming. Set in a futuristic sci-fi environment, it will let players explore massive galaxies, search billions of planets, and upgrade their in-game characters and space ships as they progress. The game is based on complicated mathematical equations that predict and randomly create the environment, level design, and intractable objects. As a result it is estimated that it would take the average player about 5 billion years of gameplay in order to finish the game.
Developed by the famous Ubisoft Studios, The Division is the latest instalment of the famous series based on Tom Clancy’s novels. Set in an apocalyptic version of New York, it puts the player in the shoes of a member of a secret “Division” of soldiers sent to end the chaos caused by the virus that destroyed most of the city. The game is a massive multi-player game with intense action. Note: If you don’t have a good internet connection, don’t bother buying it; the QUANTUM BREAK multi-player component is what defines this game. UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF’S END

6 THINGS THAT REALLY ANNOY WOMEN by Yasmine Akef
There are some small things that men do without realising that really get on every woman’s nerves. We shed some light on a few of them so that guys can check themselves before they commit any of these mistakes.
making the plans, but at least every once in a while. Really something small can go a long way, even as small as “I need to go shopping, do you want to come with me?” or “I booked us tickets for the theatre this week, do you want to go?”
FORGET AN IMPORTANT DAY LIKE YOUR INITIATE TEXTING BUT THEN VANISH WHEN SHE ANNIVERSARY, HER BIRTHDAY, ETC. REPLIES She will most likely be dropping hints before the day, If you’re going to text her “what’s up” then vanish but will not directly remind you to see if you will for six hours, don’t text her in the first place. This will remember on your own. If you do end up forgetting really get on her nerves even if she doesn’t show it on the day, she will act as if she doesn’t care and it’s and she will most likely start doing the same thing no big deal, but trust us that it is a big deal! back to you. So make sure you’re actually free or will be able to multitask before you text her and be able to reply at least within the hour. MAKE VAGUE PLANS Saying “we should get together sometime this week” or “we should hang out soon” is not an acceptable way to ask a girl out. If you want to see her, give her a time and place. These vague invites will have her thinking you’re keeping your options open and will make her eventually give up on you completely. NOT PICK UP THE PHONE WHEN YOU’RE OUT WITH YOUR GUY FRIENDS No, “I was playing PlayStation with my friends for 8 straight hours” is not an acceptable excuse to not pick up your phone. It’s cool if you want your guy quality time, but there’s no need to disappear from the face of the earth during that time. ASK HER IF SHE IS ON HER PERIOD IF SHE IS BEING EMOTIONAL Just because you do not like what she’s telling you or just because she’s having an off-day, DOES NOT mean she is on her period. Prepare yourself for hell if you make a comment like “babe, are you PMS-ing?” SAY “I DON’T CARE, WHATEVER YOU WANT” TO EVERYTHING Women like a man who can take control and make plans for the both of them. STRUGGLING WITH SHARING MONEY One of the main adjustments any newlyweds will go through is having a joint account. Yes, it will make men feel like adults but the associated problems of allocating and saving can be a headache for them in those first months. This is the money they worked hard to earn and considered only theirs by right. Until reaching the point where you both prioritize the expenses, sharing money will remain scary for men.
2.
WANTING HIS MOTHER’S COOKING BACK This one is purely Egyptian. It seems like our mothers’ generation was under some sort of spell that turned them all into master chefs, leaving our generation with picky husbands. Commenting that his mother’s version of the dish was different will be an annoyance at first, but over time it will become a constant irritation. NO MORE BUTTERING UP TO THE INLAWS Before getting married, men do everything they can to butter up to your parents by agreeing with every word they say and flattering them excessively. Now, he’s got the girl so he feels he can become more assertive, express his feelings on his in-laws’ faults, and get annoyed when they involve themselves in any tiny detail in your lives.
CHALLENGES AFTER “I DO” by Amina Moustapha
Saying that the adjustment period in the first year of marriage is a little bit tricky and saying surgery without anesthesia “might hurt a little” are about equal understatements. The truth is, the first year of marriage is mystifying and fatiguing, especially for men. This is not because the couple made a mistake, but simply because committing your life to someone else brings its own set of changes and challenges, such as the following. As tough as they may be, they can be overcome if you understand where he is coming from as he adjusts, and ask him to do the same for you. 24 Identity April 2016

LEARNING A NEW SCHEDULE OF TOGETHER AND ALONE TIME During the dating and engagement period, you used to spend time together and then go home to your separate houses for some alone time. But once married, it is hard for a guy to change his idea of how time should be spent. He needs his space, his friend time, and to go back home as late as he wishes. He has no idea why he should explain where he was, or give excuses for missing dinner without giving notice.
5.
WRESTLING OVER YOUR WAY OR HIS WAY While growing up, the decision-makers were always parents. Then there is a stage of sweet independence where you don’t have to always answer to your parents and you’re not tied down to someone else. Then you get married and it all changes. Will we spend this holiday with your family or mine? What should we eat for lunch? Where should we go tonight? None of these questions are particularly important, but they feel like a battle over who has the upper hand in the marriage.

HOW TO STAY IN THE HONEYMOON PHASE by Amina Moustapha
Falling in love is a tremendous experience, but no stage of it can compare to the “honeymoon phase.” It’s the state of being infatuated and in the throes of what the researchers call fervent love. It’s a condition of zealous longing, desire, and attraction. But alas, in time the butterflies wear off, the passion starts to dwindle, and the cute sweet nothings sound, well, less cute and sweet. You find your relationship morphing into a less impassioned blend of affection and connection. Scientifically, this is a normal and expected shift, so you shouldn’t worry. Here’s how to beat the post honeymoon blues. 1. TAKE THE ADVANTAGE OF SURPRISE Familiarity doesn’t breed disdain but it definitely breeds indifference, so keeping the mystery alive is key. Couples who participate in compelling activities together report greater satisfaction in their relationships than those who engage in pleasant but typical activities. When something novel occurs, we tend to pay attention to appreciate the experience and remember it. So always throw your partner for a loop.
4. NEVER TAKE YOUR RELATIONSHIP FOR GRANTED You should never fear losing your partner because you’re imperfect, not so good looking, or even ordinary. What should scare you is failing to make them happy. That’s a good reason to be scared, 2. DON’T REVOLVE YOUR WORLDS AROUND and its only cure is by never taking your partner for EACH OTHER granted. Imagine that everyday you will wake up with Your partner should definitely be a big part of your only the things that you are grateful for. Only then life, he or she is your other half after all. But centering will you count your blessings. your world on the other is the fastest way to kill any passion between both of you. Make time for your 5. The effort to steal some time from your As you move through time in your relationship, allow busy lives for each other is what will keep things yourself to notice what’s new and beautiful about special and interesting. That’s how you spice things your partner. Not only will this feel good to you, but up. it will also support your partner in becoming the best person they can be. In doing so, love renews itself, 3. GO ON A DATE and it will make you feel as though you’re having Sounds cheesy, right? HMED AHATEM The Master of Many Faces
Ahmed Hatem is an anomaly in the world of acting. He’s not only an extremely talented, successful, and young first-generation actor, but he also didn’t even have an interest in acting until he reached university! His passion for acting grew from his growing love for movies, which led him to take an acting workshop his first year at university. His major in mass communication was allegedly a backup plan in case he failed at acting, but with multiple successful movies and series behind him, it appears he didn’t need the backup after all. Ahmed is a master of all characters on the screen and incredibly humble, funny, and charming in person. From everything about his work and personal life to his future plans, we uncovered it all.

The first movie you participated in was “Awqat Faragh.” How did you land this role? The director and the producer decided that they would shoot this movie with new faces. It was supposed to be shot with young well-known celebrities; however, the plan changed. The director visited the acting workshop and chose most of the movie crew from the workshop, even the small roles. And I have no idea how I would’ve started if it wasn’t that way.
Since all your roles are complicated, how do you prepare for them? That’s definitely my least favourite stage. I have to read the script extremely well and sit with the director to discuss it. Then I start trying different things with my reactions, body language, and expressions. Usually the first day is trial and error until you reach a common ground. For example, in “Ebn 7alal,” the first day I had this thing that I didn’t know how to interpret and then I decided that wearing Kohl would be a nice idea and it might add to the character. The movie was a big hit, and the cast was flawless. After discussing it with the director Ibrahim Fakhr However, the same cast made another movie later he suggested that we try and it actually worked. As long as I like the script, I will produce it. “El Beyout Asrar” is a new experiment for you; can you tell us more about it? We were planning to do a TV series that would be broadcasted but not during Ramadan like we are used to. This would all be while still maintaining our quality, by which I mean using the highest quality of cameras, skillful director, and the best of our actors and actresses. It also means using our very own style of scripts that contain many stories and fast scenes that are full of suspense. We saw that it was something that never occurred in the projects that were produced outside of Ramadan. We had a feeling that this one project will work and have a good echo on people, but it never crossed our minds that it would achieve that outstanding success.

HALED EL HALAFAWY Cinema Director by Yasmine Akef
Khaled El Halafawy may have started his creative career at the bottom, but due to his talent and hard work, it has only gone up since he quit his job as an accountant and began working with films. After gaining experience as an assistant director, Khaled is now a successful director most recently known for his hits Kedbet Koul Yom and Zana’et Settat. How did your job as an assistant director build you into the director that you are today? When you gradually make your way from assistant director to main director in 15 years, you’re exposed to all the aspects of the job, the problems, and all types of directors. Fifteen years is a long time. I think after such a long time, a person learns a lot. Someone can have good vision but hasn’t gone through the troubles and everyday troubleshooting of the practice, so wouldn’t be able to expect where the problems would come from and how to avoid them. In my 15 years, I don’t think there’s a problem with this job that I haven’t encountered so the solution is stored in my head for the future.
Have you considered going into acting like your father? No, I am not an actor. I did actually do a scene in “Kedbet Koul Yom” but it was more like an on-the spot thing to save a situation, not because I want to pursue acting or anything like that. It’s not one of my ambitions; I only did it a couple of times to save a situation or to save money when I was working as an assistant. Will we see a move towards television? I have indeed worked in television a lot when I was an assistant director and I have directed a television series in Dubai, which was my first production. It all depends on the screenplay; if I like it, I will go for it. It’s not about whether it’s for a television series or a movie or even for the radio.
Why did you decide to focus on the topic of marriage and relationships in “Kedbet Koul Yom”? Ever since the first time I read the screenplay, I really connected to it and decided to hold onto it. It’s because it’s talking about something that everyone can relate to. Even those who haven’t gotten married can hear about it or fear it. Those who are on the How do you consider your style to be different from verge of marriage or thinking of one day getting other directors in your own eyes? married would be interested to see these examples There are no two directors who have the same style; of people going through the same thing. it’s kind of like handwriting. to interpretation. One person can see or learn something and another person can learn something completely different. If someone can come out of the movie with a certain message or lesson, then that’s great. The first movie was more like an entertaining comedy to make people laugh. Yes, we can say the message was “el kedb maloosh reglein,” but that wasn’t the main aim of the movie. As for the second movie, the obvious and eternal question it was asking was “is marriage good or bad and should we get married or not?” There were several examples of different couples and every couple ended up with a resolution different from the other. So the obvious message of the movie is it’s either you take the good with the bad and don’t complain or don’t take it at all. And if there’s another message it’s not to rush! Don’t get married just for the sake of marriage. If you can’t find someone who makes you happy, then it’s better not to get married at all.
try a different type, they will get pleasantly surprised, so I hope I get this opportunity soon! Who is the director that you’ve worked with that influenced you the most? And why? That’s a very difficult question as I’ve worked with many directors that have strongly influenced me, especially considering that each director has his own style so they affected me in different ways. One who is very close to my heart and is a very good friend of mine is Ahmed El Gindy.
What is one piece of advice you have for younger generations who want to go into the same field? If you’re passionate about film, go to the Arts Institute and study it. Even though I didn’t do this and I can’t tell you how good it is academically, but you will definitely come out of it with a lot of connections and your name will become known, which is really major for this field. My problem in the beginning when I first Since your first two movies were comedy, would you started out is that no one knew me. When I found an consider directing other genres? opportunity with someone I stayed with him or her I would very much like that! I don’t want to be seen for years and years because it was hard for me to find as the guy who only directs comedies and only be alternative opportunities. It took a while for people limited to that genre. Honestly though it depends to hear about me, and I was stuck with the same one on the screenplay. If it’s a different genre and it or two circles for 5 to 7 years unable to became more attracts my attention I will go for it, and if it’s once connected and more renowned. Also, read a lot and again comedy but I like it then I will go for it. I’ve watch a lot. Watch the good and the bad to learn been getting mostly screenplays for comedies, which what you should do and also what you shouldn’t do. is unfortunate. thousand other things at the same time. When I was doing Train for Aim, I was also working for McKinsey and applying for my MBA all at the same time. Even when I joined Uber, I was still trying to keep up with Train for Aim. This makes it very difficult to give your attention to a specific thing, you can do a couple of things as long as you’re putting in the time that each thing deserves. The second one is, you should always do what you enjoy doing. I know it sounds cliché, but if you’re not waking up everyday excited about what you’re doing then you’re doing something wrong.
Who influenced your career the most? This is going to sound very cheesy, but it’s my mum Nevin El Tahry. She’s a serial entrepreneur, and ever since I was three years old, she used to come home everyday and tell us everything she did at work. I always say that I’ve learned in school, but also just as much, if not more, at home. The business ideas and the excitement about growth and building new companies has come from home a lot more than from my MBA or my education in general. What do you think it takes to become young and successful? I think the most important thing at a young age is to be receptive to feedback. In our Egyptian society, we tend to like to tell people how to do things so you need to be smart enough to filter the beneficial feedback from non-beneficial feedback. Other people see you from the outside, but you don’t see yourself from the outside. Therefore, you need to always reflect on what you’re doing on a daily basis. Before I go to bed every night I think about what I did that day and how I could have done it better. It only takes 5 minutes. I think the people who grow at a young age are those who really develop based on the feedback they receive. How did you come up with the name and everything for the Monkeys and Tuxedos identity, like the bananas for example? We wanted to call it something else at the beginning, but when Dibo joined he came with a cool name that he wanted to use and BAAAAMMMM! We have Monkeys In Tuxedos. What’s different about Monkeys in Tuxedos than other marketing and advertising agencies? Most of the agencies either focus on creating something extremely creative but don’t serve an objective, or they just create a campaign that is extremely strategic but lacks any form of creativity. Monkeys In Tuxedos came here to fill this gap. We focus on creating a campaign that is strategic yet creative.

How did it all start? And when? That goes back to last year in college. First of all, Ahmed Essam and I met in college. We’ve worked together on some projects that we received then we decided to start freelancing some stuff and we approached our very first client, The Colour Green. Then Dibo joined us. Dibo was my friend from school; we were not that close then but he is one of my best friends now. He was also the owner of The Colour Green; he gave us the strangest brief ever and that was “I want to create a cool website that I’ve never seen before and I’m sure that no one can do it.” We took the challenge and we decided to give it a shot. ANZEER
Contingency Artist by Liza Dunham
While most famous for his street art during the Egyptian Revolution, it is a challenge to find a label that accurately captures the wide range of art that Ganzeer creates. From paintings, to videos, to comic books and graphic design, there seems to be no limits for the award-winning artist. Now located in California, Ganzeer is continuing to use his art as a voice against the problems in the world, such as his latest sci-fi graphic novel project.
When looking at your past interviews, there is a disproportionate focus on your street art compared to the rest of your work. Where would you actually prefer the focus, and what are you focusing on now? I wouldn’t want the focus to be on any one particular practice of mine. If I’d preferred a focus, then I probably would’ve focused on an art-form myself. But I haven’t and I generally don’t ever want to. I enjoy working in completely different mediums as per the whims my projects call for. Some projects need to be street-art. Others need to be installations. Others need to be videos, and so on. How do you choose your models? Suzanne is the one responsible for the models but, there are different criteria. There are models for beauty photo-shoots, fashion photoshoots or fashion runways.
One of the most promising start-ups in the Egyptian fashion industry is C Town Model Management. Fortunately for us, the minds behind the modelling agency found a gap in the continuously growing fashion industry that needed to be filled and started working on it.

Having only begun this year, they are already carving out their name and successfully working with the big names in the game to create stunning photoshoots. We wanted to know more about what it took to get this modelling agency into the fashion scene, so we spoke to one of the team members Ahmed Hisham, proudly one of our exteam members, to get more details. How did you get the idea? Being a former magazine editor in Identity Magazine, I was always intrigued by the photoshoots. I always liked to tag along even though I had nothing to with the fashion editorials. Sometimes I asked my friends to model when we were stuck and needed a model on the spot. Then it all started merely by chance, I was hanging out with a well-known Egyptian designer and he needed a new model, so I showed him a couple of my friends that are beginner models and they worked together. After that, a designer friend of his, also wanted models for a photoshoot so he called me and I helped him out. It all started on a friendly basis, then I started to think if I am good at it, why shouldn’t I turn it into a business? And I knew that I could easily do it because I was already doing it.
Are they only Egyptians? No, we have a couple of Russian models as freelancers and we are planning on having more.
Feras Zein, Ali Bahr, and myself. Ali Bahr handles everything that has to do with media. Suzanne is responsible for choosing and training the models. How did you start? It was actually a coincidence. One of my partners now, Suzanne, models every now and then as a hobby. Someone called her to model in a photoshoot so she told them that we opened a modelling agency called C Town while we were still talking about it, and she offered to send them modelling profiles so they could pick. It is working great so far but, we are working on launching a website that will be ready in around a month or so. There are actually a couple of modelling agencies in Egypt. What differentiates you from them? We only deal with A-class clients and only hire A-class models. So, the models are well-educated, professional, and extremely decent while dealing with the clients. Other agencies hire models for their looks and it does not matter to them if they are well educated or not. What are the shoots you’ve done so far? We have done shoots for the latest collection for Nada Akram, Kojak, Zaam Designs, a cover/photoshoot for Identity Magazine, the Valentine’s Guide for Enigma Magazine, a shoot for Baraka Optics and the summer campaign for OR.

“Start it Right” is a campaign directed towards mothers to educate them about the importance of health education and its impact upon their babies’ immunity. Mothers should be educated from the first stages of pregnancy about their health and their children’s health. How did you come up with the “Super Pregnant” comic book idea? What is the purpose behind it? We primarily worked on spreading health education using mundane tools. They involved campaigns in various hubs where women could be gathered to receive health education from renowned doctors and also undergo screening for the most predominant diseases in our community. In pursuit of saving women’s lives by promoting health education, we came to the conclusion that our methods were not very appealing to women. Our team brainstormed and came up with a great idea, we may have encountered comics as we grew up, but none of them were health educational.
“Super Pregnant” is just a start towards a series of comics that aid in raising awareness against the most pressing health issues that face girls and women in Egypt and developing countries. We are currently working on a mobile application to be the first organisation to utilise technology in health education. What is the main problem in promoting health education in Egypt? Although our main problem is lack of health education, our community doesn’t realise that they lack the adequate health education to fight various prevalent diseases. This makes our mission even harder to accomplish and that is why we decided it is time to step back and reassess our tools to see if we can use more sustainable and appealing tools. What is your foundation’s next step? We want to reach out to as many women as we can, empowering them with health education that will reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. We want to increase women’s total entrepreneurial activities and thus help them achieve economic empowerment and financial strength. This will be through systematic workshops and practical as well as conceptual series.

feature There are only 24 hours in a day. No more, no less. Only 24 hours, or in other measurements, only 1,140 minutes, or only 86,400 seconds per each day we live. By now, approximately 25 of those seconds are already gone since you opened this page, leaving you with a shrinking total for the rest of the day. Panicking yet? That’s normal. Managing time is an age-old battle, and you are not the first to struggle with how to balance it. As humans, we are relatively aware that we are mortal, so we know that every moment we spend as a part of this world counts. Unfortunately, we don’t always get to completely choose how we spend our time. We have certain responsibilities that eat up our time faster than we would like to admit. This mostly comes in the form of work. It takes time from what we would actually prefer to be investing ourselves in: our social lives. You shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Maybe they don’t give you your paycheck, but at the end of the day, people matter. A healthy social life is critical to a healthy life.

PLAN AHEAD This is easier said than done, as life never seems to go according to how we neatly organize it. But a little bit of forethought can go a long way. If you know you have deadlines and tasks that need to get done around the same time as some outings, plan some time in advance to get them done so that you can visit with your friends or family guilt-free.

INVEST IN A PRACTICAL PLANNER The business of modern life really calls for a planner, no matter what career or how social you are. Having dates and assignments penned in will help you organize your limited time and plan ahead. Perhaps you tried a planner before and never used it; that could be because it wasn’t the right one for you. It can take a bit of trial and error to find a design and layout that you like to work with, but once you do it’s worth it.

WHAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP REALLY NEEDS by Liza Dunham
No matter what the love experts may say, there is no magic bullet solution to make your relationship work. There is no clear cut set of guidelines that you can follow like a formula of “this” plus “that” will equal a successful relationship. Just like each individual in this world is different from the next, each relationship between them is unique and different in its own way. With that in mind, every relationship that wants to have a chance at surviving the crazy game called love has to find the specific balance it needs between two critical components: space and purposeful time spent together. Space is vital to allow the individuals in the relationship to be just that, individuals. Space is necessary to grow as a person. Likewise, making time to actually enjoy who that individual is and is becoming is also vital. Simply sharing the same space won’t cut it. It’s the right combination of these two that will make or break a relationship.

Over smothering murders relationships. It’s a silent killer, at that. You don’t even realise it’s happening until it’s too late. It usually happens in the honeymoon stage, when you are obsessed and infatuated with this new and exciting heartthrob you are so lucky to be with. As a result, you spend every waking moment together until one day you wake up feeling like you are being suffocated with a pillow. You look around and realise that you miss being you and doing your own thing. So out of desperation to simply connect with yourself again, you push away. When you push away, your other half feels it and panics that you are trying to leave, that you are disenchanted and don’t want to be with them again. This causes them to go into a self-protective mode and also push away, creating a spiral that is very hard to escape from. This relationship death spiral can be avoided by allowing each other the space you need from the very beginning. Space is usually seen as a negative thing. For some odd reason, people think that couples who need space or spend a significant
The amount of space everyone needs varies. Some might simply need to take a walk by themselves simply to get lost in their own mind and thoughts. Some might need to take a class or participate in a program that the other isn’t a part of so they feel there is something that sets them apart and makes them unique. Others may need to spend quality time with other friends or family members, to catch up and de-stress from the pressures around them. Some might even need to travel on their own, which is an excellent way to grow and bring something new and exciting back to your partner. Whatever is your own style, talking about it and scheduling it in will simultaneously relieve fears and take a lot of the pressure off of each other to always make the other happy.
and entire being without bringing that growth back and offering it to your partner. The word purposeful is there for a reason, because simply spending time together is not enough. You must intently set aside time just for that person and enjoy who they are. There is a bad habit in modern society that physically being in the same space and “chilling” is enough. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Perhaps it is relaxing and has its time and place, but there must be a generous portion of distraction-free attention served to keep your relationship healthy and strong. Quality time can be found in good conversations, fun activities, and new adventures. If it’s conversation, pay attention. Eye contact is key, so that your lover feels like you are close to them and interested in their well-being. WHY ‘SELFIE EXPERT?’
In recent years, smartphones have changed the way we interact with tech. With phone cameras advancing in leaps & bounds, the point & shoot camera has become all but redundant.. We carry our smartphones everywhere & this has led to democratization of photography. Yes, everyone with a smartphone doesn’t become a photographer but a smartphone certainly enables us to document our lives much more easily. Along with the rise of phone photography, we’ve seen astronomical rise in the word selfie in recent times. Self-portraits have been around since the dawn of photography in the 19th century but with phones cameras improving the selfie too has been on the rise. OPPO F1 “Selfie Expert”, it really has an excellent camera & the F1 features a standout 8 MP frontfacing camera with a wide f/2.0 aperture lens and a -4/1inch sensor, a sophisticated Pure Image +2.0 photography platform offering OPPO’s Beautify 3.0 feature, OPPO’s patented Screen Flash to make snapping selfies in low-light conditions, and can shoot selfies using hand gestures and spoken commands, ensuring stunning selfies in all conditions. It is also 4G enabled to support the best data connections & has a fast processor with 3GB RAM.
The OPPO F1 features a Premium Metal Body that feels almost velvety to touch. The body of the F1 is made of an exquisite metal alloy, treated with zircon sand surface coating applied in a low-pressure, lowspeed spraying process. The result is a lustrous eye catching finish that’s looks & feels lovely. It’s available in two finishes, gold & rose gold (mine is the gold one). The beautiful line band edges definitely add to the look & feel and at just 134gms it feels light but not cheap in your hand. Well, you can’t take all selfies in the daytime & sometimes we like to do them at night when the lighting doesn’t co-operate. Night light is dim, & often at very unflattering angles. And whether you are using my dslr or a phone camera, we tend to hate flashes as they often create a worse image emphasizing oiliness or just washing out your face completely – which is why we loved the patented screen flash on the OPPO F1. Instead of a tiny little LED flash, when you leave the screen flash setting on it just leaves the whole screen on. The larger surface area of the screen (compared to a flash) & the fact that it isn’t too bright works in your favor. It bathes you in a very natural looking light, ensuring you get the perfect selfies even at night or in low light situations – WIN!
THE EXTERIOR
CONCLUSION
They say never judge a book by it’s cover but when I’m looking for a phone, the internal specifications are paramount, but the looks aren’t far behind. I want the phone to have an excellent camera, run all my favorite apps & be quick as hell but I also want it to look good, be a stylish accessory just like my jewellery, bags, watches & shoes. 60 Identity April 2016
The OPPO F1 Selfie Expert is a great camera phone with a special focus on taking selfies. Using the Selfie Expert is a foolproof way to get bright & beautiful selfies no matter what the lighting & environmental conditions are! At the cost of 2,200 EGP – if you’re into photography & taking selfies it’s an excellent buy!
