This issue is centered around the young men of today’s generation, who are doing positive things in their respective lives and communities. We wanted to create a space where we could deliver an exhibition that would showcase and celebrate these young men in their careers by creating access to the most inspirational artists, businessmen, and entrepreneurs. In doing so, we concluded that our “ADAM,” issue is an art piece that captures Men expressing visions they’re passionate about. Actor Will Smith once said, “The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have a dream, who want to do things. Talents you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.” In the words of technology inventor Steve Jobs, it’s important to “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow know what you truly want to become.” These are just two of the pioneers that inspired this issue. Both men are asking us to wake up and pursue what inspires us, something the young men in this issue are doing in their daily lives.

Aspiring Actor and Motivation Speaker“ Make It A Great Life”
Elijah Samuel Kondeh Many will agree that coming from a foreign country to the United States can be a whole new world of experiences. Depending on who you are, that experience could be a good or bad outcome. For young aspiring actor and Motivational speaker Elijah Samuel Kondeh, his experience in the U.S. was more than what he expected. Born July 7, 1990, Elijah Samuel Kondeh, commonly called “Eli”, hailed from Sierra Leone, West Africa. He moved to the United States at the age of eight and has been here since. After graduating from high school in 2008, he went to Normandale Community College, and later transferred to Saint Cloud State University in pursuit of a degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Leadership and Organization, as well as a minor in Human Relations. At a young age, the actor and motivational speaker was fortunate enough to discover his artistic side; even playing the drums at his church. Elijah fell in love with Hip Hop and started writing lyrics for his friend; which gained Eli some attention amongst his peers. However, that is as far his rapping career went. He picked up interest in leadership groups and communication in college this time, without a beat.

While at Saint Cloud State University, Eli took a theater class to fulfill a general college requirement and instantly became a natural in acting. His professor took a liking in his acting style and encouraged him to get involved in school plays, as well as auditioning for movies available to him. Eli took this advice and became actively involved in his university’s theater department. It was during this time he got his first big break with ‘End Time Harvest Production’. The Hollywood film company was auditioning for a movie called ‘Boys Cry’. This particular movie is based on a true life fiction film that details the tale of an African raised teenager whose life takes an incredible turn to the worst when his peers target him for differences in culture, and ultimately fixes him to engage in an act that without influence, he would never commit. Eli auditioned and immediately charmed his way to the top by landing the role as the lead actor in the movie. When the camera started rolling, the young motivational speaker found himself on the on the other side and immediately fell completely in love with the art and got great support from End Time Harvest crew and his fellow actors. He was also blessed to have worked on a film project called ‘Bound’ with no other than famous Hollywood actor Isaiah Washington. Eli is currently writing a book titled, ‘That’s More Content’ a book based on an event occurred in his life. It gives wisdom on how to overcome a certain problem in one’s life. Elijah is also the founder of “Words of Encouragement” a new platform upon which he hopes to inspire his generation to always aspire for more.“Make It A Great Life”Elijah Samuel Kondeh

D’Narius Lewis was born May 25, 1993, in Shelby County, Tennessee. His family then moved to Minnesota in 1998 where he currently resides. D’Narius was raised by a single mother; being the youngest and only boy in his family shaped his outlook on life and the concept of survival and determination. He has stepped up to the plate as being the man of his household to keep his family as a unit. A born entrepreneur, D’Narius Lewis started his sales career at the age of 15 when he began selling iPhones and Androids off Craigslist; this led to his passion for business and entrepreneurship . While in college D’Narius balanced a full-time job along with being a student. His balance became overwhelming and he often found himself having to decide to go to work or school. He later got fired from his job and eventually dropped out of college in rebellion to the demanding college lifestyle. During that time, until he was 21, D’Narius had worked 6 jobs and found his instability to be the result of his lack of passion, lack of freedom, and unfulfilling financial standing. Eventually, in 2012 D’Narius was a homeless couch surfing kid with nothing but a suitcase and a name. He didn’t have a permit, a license, or a car, so his ability to get around was also limited.
D’Narius attributes his success to constantly moving and failing forward. Even when he had $1 to his name, no one knew his financial struggles but he knew it would only temporary. D’Narius also attributes much of his success to his mentor Mary Dingmann, who taught him the concept of transformational learning or guidance education. D’Narius dedicates his career to teaching people that they can live the life of their dreams if they are willing to suspend their disbelief for an extended period of time, and maintain the discipline it takes to work toward your dreams every day. D’Narius believes that people are meant to live an abundant, rewarding, and fulfilling life.
Fortunately, things took a positive turn and he found himself blessed to have a friend from high school whose family took him in. By the summer of 2013, the money D’Narius made was used to support rent, bills, and groceries--which was limited to $10. He often found himself left with $7.40 after all his bills were paid. He soon decided that was not the life he wanted to live, so he did something about it. Fast-forward to 2016, D’Narius is now an author, speaker, and social media expert with multiple books on self-help and inspiration. His love for networking, desire for likeability, and rebellious attitude towards societies monotonous standards are what motivated, and still motivates him to attain his current level of success.

Checho Freire {ch•eh•ch•oh, Fr•eh•ee•rh•eh} is a local Minneapolis music and video producer, and upcoming artist. Before taking stages with the likes of headliners like the Allan Kingdom and Finding Novyon, Checho was a struggling foreign student in a cold state. Born Sergio Andres Freire Coronel in Guayaquil, Ecuador on July 1st, 1992; for the first 9 years of his life he lived a privileged childhood. Being the youngest and only male in the family, he gained his character by going solo on imaginary adventures with his toys. He often changed his interests and hobbies, starting with guitars and drums, then cartoons, later a slight obsession with Legos and video games, then eventually songwriting and drawing. His interest in songwriting and drawing often distracted him in class, even so, it paid off in the future. After a parental divorce relocated his mother, his sisters and him to New York City, they later moved to South Saint Paul, MN where Sergio went from a foreigner with a knack for cartoons, to a suave producer with undeniable talent for cinematography and visual concepts--which he produces from scratch. His sister, Karen Freire also hit the Minnesota radar as lead singer and songwriter of Buffalo Moon, mixing Brazilian and tropical samba with psychedelic American rock and roll. She took on a musical journey and introduced Checho to Saint Paul’s Creative Arts High School which she attended and he later joined. There Checho learned the basis for almost every known art. He was so motivated by the school that he held himself back a year to take extra electives such as Tai Chi and advanced painting. In 2013, Checho graduated from the Minneapolis’ Institute of Production and Recording with a degree in Sound Design for visual media. From sound engineering to color grading his own videos, Checho’s style and vision have pushed him to explore his own roots and start a Spanish rap/reggaeton scene in the cities. Teaming up with Dio, his childhood friend and Cuban artist and dancer, they became the newest Latin duo named Dansvidios. Following example of his mother who is an entrepreneur and woman of many careers, Checho asserts himself and expresses his feminine side by juggling dozens of roles throughout all the projects he touches with his ‘DIY’ state of mind. Still considering himself a student, he is a true example of a renaissance man. Because of his evolvement with many types of creative expressions, his art will supply your soul light and open up room to breathe perspective.

Billy Siyomvo is the founder of S-design clothing line. Siyomvo is a Burundian man who began his fashion career by running fashion shows during his high school years in Rwanda and eventually evolved to become a fashion designer participating in several events over the years, one of them being Bujumbura Fashion Week.
“As a designer, I had the opportunity to work with many talented designers some of them being Martial Tapolo Cameroun designer based in Paris, Nigerian designer Adebayo Adegbe from modela couture, Pathe’o South African designer… my inspiration range from crazy evening gowns to a simple shirt. My only dream being to dress up for any occasion as Africa has taught us to do.

MISS MINNESOTA LATINA Miss Minnesota Latina and Miss Teen Minnesota Latina are the first competitions established in the state of Minnesota exclusively for Latinas, and the only whose winner advances to a national competition. Miss Minnesota Latina is the preliminary to the national Miss U.S. Latina, the most prestigious and well known pageant in the world for U.S Latinas, as well as the longest-running (since 1983). It is also the only national pageant in the U.S. that follows traditional pageant guidelines for participants and affiliate preliminary competition. 2016 MISS MINNESOTA LATINA-WINNER Camila Payan is a local model and beauty pageant titleholder. She is the Minnesota representative for the 2016 Miss U.S. Latina Pageant. Camila was born in Cali, Colombia and grew up in Minnesota along with her older brother. Camila is currently attending Normandale Community College to get her AA degree, and plans on transferring to a University to get a science major and then go to medical school. She competed in 2013 for Miss Teen Minnesota Latina and won the title. Camila believes that education is the most important thing for growth. Princeton has been in fitness and healthy lifestyle since he was a teenager in high school. As far as bodybuilding goes, Princeton has been involved in the sport and participated in competitions for the last three years. When we spoke to Princeton concerning the sport of bodybuilding, he states, “The sport of bodybuilding is a constant and unrelenting pursuit of perfection; despite the fact that perfection is a goal that shall never be attained for it is infinite and forever changing.” Princeton added, “It is also relative which means for a moment one may attain relative perfection.” It is this slither of hope which drives gym rats and bodybuilders alike. According to Princeton, There is only one way to attain this perfection.
His motto: one shall work on their own weakness with reckless abandonment until it bends to their will because there is no other path towards progress. Princeton advice to being fit and living a healthy lifestyle is treating your body with tremendous care because we have only one body.
